The 2016 Paris Motor Show has been hosting various automotive surprises for more than a century. Held every October, the Paris Motor Show has become a popular venue for car manufacturers to showcase to their newest concept cars and brand new or updated models. This year’s show is not an exception as some companies have dropped a few hints of what is in store for their most loyal customers. One of them is none other than South Korean automaker, Kia.
This year, Kia will be presenting the 2017 Kia Soul – a quicker and trendier version of its five-door compact crossover. What makes this year’s Soul extra special is the fact that it went all the way to Europe to get its upgrades. Yes, you read that right. The Soul apparently got itself a facelift and some styling upgrades, new technology, and the highlight of them all, a new engine and transmission combination.
Rumours of the Soul’s upgraded turbo power have circulated for a while and this time, it has finally been confirmed. The new Soul will now have a 1.6-liter T-GDI four-cylinder engine courtesy of Cee’d GT and Pro_Cee’d GT, and is capable of giving 201 horsepower on the front wheels via its new seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. This year’s model is now considered as the most powerful Soul that was ever made by the South Korean automaker. It is expected to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 7.5 seconds and has a top speed of 122 mph. It also comes with larger brakes for more stopping power and will come in three driving modes: Normal, Eco, and Sport.Read the entire article 2017 Kia Soul gets 1.6 turbo engine and design upgrades straight from Europe
Hyundai i30 N is the South Korean carmaker’s very first high-performance hatchback. As one of the N performance models, the i30 N boasts of a number of sporty elements that help highlight its potent nature. Of course, there are some i30 N customers who may think that these elements aren’t enough. To show its consideration for these customers, the carmaker has unveiled the new Hyundai i30 N ‘N Option’ at the 2018 Paris Motor Show.
Even with its sporty looks, a standard Hyundai i30 N might not satisfy some customers who wanted to further personalize their ride and make them look sportier. Good thing is that Hyundai is all bent on creating a number of customization features that would allow these customers to create their own version of the hot hatch. Back then, Honda was tight-lipped about the technical details of the prototype. The global automotive market is dominated by several major players from Japan, Europe and the United States. Some companies from South Korea and India are also major players in the automotive world. In the recent years, a few automakers from China are making some noise. How about a carmaker from Vietnam?
Here comes VinFast, a virtually unknown carmaker – at least in the global scene --- based in Ha Noi, Vietnam. Seeing itself as brand for Vietnamese cars, VinFast is a part of the VinGroup, a $10-billion conglomerate in Vietnam that is involve in operating shopping malls, resorts, spas, hospitals and schools as well as apartment complexes in the country. Many automakers have been ditching the idea of attending motor shows, probably because they realised that they will reach more people while spending less money on just organising their own events, or by publishing their news on social media. So, are automotive shows dying or evolving? Well, even if Lamborghini will not be joining the 2018 Paris Motor Show this October, just like its parent company Volkswagen, these shows will still continue.
This year is not the first time Lamborghini skipped Paris - a biennial auto show that alternates with Frankfurt. Back in 2016, both Lamborghini and Bentley did not attend the Paris show, as well as Aston Martin, Ford, Volvo, and Rolls-Royce. Lately, automakers have been reassessing the value of auto shows. As mentioned earlier, automakers like Volvo are realising that it would be better to organise their own events than to shell out millions of dollars to get press coverage at an auto show.
But then again, it doesn’t mean that Lamborghini or Volkswagen will totally be absent in Paris. And this is because they will likely organise their own events in the city during the exhibition.Read the entire article Lamborghini is 10th automaker to confirm absence at 2018 Paris Motor Show
The automotive industry has been choosing online shows and private debuts over huge annual car shows. These shows instantly cost automakers millions, and that is why car companies have decided to entirely let go of these. The most recent news we heard was from Lamborghini, when they said that they would be skipping the 2018 Paris Motor Show, along with BMW and Mercedes Benz. Now, another large auto group, with three of its core brands, plan to do the same.
To name them, Fiat, Alfa Romeo and Jeep, will not be attending this year’s Paris Motor Show, according to website, AutoPlus France. This is also the first time that the three car brands will be ditching a major show, and Fiat explains that it is because auto shows are no longer a must do part of its ongoing strategy. Even though the three main brands will not be in attendance, its mainstream luxury marque, Maserati, will be there together with Ferrari.
This isn’t really shocking news to anyone, as we have been hearing the same thing pretty much during the first half of the year. Other automakers that will be skipping the show in Paris include: Ford, Mazda, Infiniti, Mitsubishi, Opel, Subaru, Nissan and Volvo. In contrary to that, automakers that will join the show are Kia, Citroen, Jaguar, Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz, Land Rover, Lexus, Peugeot, Smart, Suzuki and Toyota, meanwhile have committed to Paris for 2018.Read the entire article Fiat, Alfa Romeo and Jeep are ditching the 2018 Paris Motor Show
As we get closer to the 2018 Paris Motor Show, the list of automakers that will attend the upcoming show is getting shorter. Volkswagen had just announced that they have decided to just skip the show that will take place in the City of Light, an event that takes place every other year. The Paris show alternates with the Frankfurt Motor Show. This news was revealed to us by France-based Autoactu.com. This was further confirmed by VW’s local French branch.
The German brand has doubts on whether it will be beneficial and relevant for them to attend international auto shows. But then, VW said that even if they will not attend the show in France, they will likely organize various actions like test drives in the city during the event. In addition, VW is analyzing prospects of organizing its own events for new car launches, which is something many automakers like Volvo have been practicing for quite some time now. One of the reasons for this could be because participating in these events could be very costly, and they don’t have as much reach compared to that of social media.
Despite the fact that VW will not attend the show, the group’s other brands, including the Skoda, SEAT, Audi and Porsche are said to make their way there. Right now, we do not have the complete details whether the Bentley and Bugatti marques will be there as well. The high end British marque from Crewe is said to work on a couple of new models such as the Continental GTC and the Flying Spur. We would not be surprised if such brands will participate and unveil new products.Read the entire article VW will not be attending the 2018 Paris Motor Show
