TopCar has a body kit in mind for the Lamborghini Urus

While everyone wants to get their hands on a Lamborghini Urus as early as now, that isn’t likely to happen. However, one lucky tuner did just that. In fact, TopCar Design has already started on its latest project.

Many of you would agree that a factory fresh Lamborghini Urus already looks aggressive as it is, especially when it comes to its exterior design. Howevever, Lamborghini boasts that the Urus stands out from the crowd because of its “2/3 body, 1/3 window” ratio that is like that of a supercar - similar to both the Aventador and the Huracan.

But no matter how beautiful it already is, some people just want more, or maybe they just want to make their ride more personalized. If that is so, then this custom body kit by TopCar Design is probably what you need.

Would you pay double for the Lamborghini Urus to secure a build slot?

Anything that is being hyped nowadays can be sold at double or triple the price, just because people know that no matter what the situation, it will still sell. And that is the case now with the Lamborghini Urus. It should be mentioned that this SUV will be made by the same company that built the really powerful Aventador SuperVeloce that boasts 740 horsepower, as well as the Centenario, and supercar icons like the Countach and Miura.

Under the hood of the Lamborghini Urus is a 4.0 liter biturbo V8 that carries out no less than 650 horsepower (484 kilowatts). And in only 3.6 seconds, it can reach 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) from a standstill and hit a top speed of 186 miles per hour (300 kilometers per hour). Overall, the four-seater SUV with a higher ground clearance also comes with supercar performance stats.

Apart from all that, no one knows what it feels like to be behind the wheel of the Urus, as it is unlike any other Lamborghini that we have seen out there. Having said all that, dealerships decided that they could likely mark up prices of the hyped up SUV.

Lamborghini Urus super-SUV is re-imagined as double-cab pickup truck

Not long after Lamborghini unveiled the new Urus super sports utility vehicle, an automotive graphic artist made a rendering of a coupe-styled version of the SUV. It simply re-imagined the Urus four-door as a two-door coupe SUV, and the resulting rendered image is spectacular. Now, the same graphic artist has rendered the new Lamborghini Urus, not as a super SUV, but as double-cab pickup truck.

While it would be very hard to imagine Lamborghini creating a pickup truck, the newest rendering of the Urus as a full-size pickup truck is as equally tantalizing to the eyes as the coupe-style version. After all, both renderings were made by the designer who went by the professional moniker of X-Tomi Design.

In creating his pickup truck rendition of the Urus, X-Tomi employed an image showing the original super SUV in its profile. Upon closer inspection, X-Tomi didn’t touch the design of the Urus from the front end to the A-pillar – everything remains the same at this section. On the whole section starting from the A-pillar to the B-pillar, there aren’t so many design changes, except for the front window now larger on the pickup version. This is because the rearward slope of the slanting roof has been made less steep. The roof now also features a rack for added practicality.

The unveiling of the Lamborghini Urus is considered as one of the automotive milestones achieve this year. Not only is the four-door Urus the company’s first sports utility vehicle, it is also regarded as the first super SUV in the world. It looks great and stunning in this four-door configuration, which is essential if you are trying to mix super performance and practicality.

Nonetheless, there are customers who would like their Urus super SUV to look more aggressive, with a styling that fits its super performance nature. Thus, some are trying to imagine the Urus as a coupe-styled SUV – with two doors and a longer bonnet. But if that is somewhat hard to imagine, an automotive graphic artist who goes by the professional moniker X-Tomi Design has just created a rendering of a coupe-styled Urus. It was a simple re-imagination of Urus four-door as a two-door, but it looks astonishing.

At first glance, the visual tweaks that X-Tomi implemented on the Lamborghini Urus entailed the removal of the two rear doors that allow access to the rear passenger cabin of the SUV. Furthermore, the bonnet of the Urus was seemingly made longer. Other than these, it appears that everything from the base of the A-pillar and the tip of the bonnet where it meets the windshield have been shifted to the rear.

Many automakers seem to always have the Nurburgring in the back of their heads when they build new cars. And a lot of them seem to be obsessed about making an attempt to break the record. Now, Lamborghini has decided to join the rest of these guys. It is not the first time for them to take their cars to the Green Hell. In fact, the Huracan Performante once took home the record around the Ring, before the Porsche 911 GT2 RS took over with a total of 6 minutes 47.3 seconds time.

Next spring, the Italian automaker plans to head back to the Green Hell, but with a different model this time - the Lamborghini Urus -- as it attempts to be the fastest SUV to lap the Nurburgring. At the time of this writing, it is the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio that holds the record time with 7 minutes and 51.7 seconds.

However, if you could remember, some people doubted its performance saying that the video had been edited to make it look like it finished that soon. Whether it is legitimate or not, that is still the same time the Urus has to beat to become the record holder.

We are very much aware of the Lamborghini Urus’ powerful engine that produces an impressive 650 horsepower (484 kilowatts) and 627 pound feet (850 Newton metres) of torque. Thanks to its 4.0 liter biturbo V8, it can do the 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) sprint in as little as 3.59 seconds, before continuing to its maximum speed of 186 miles per hour (300 kilometers per hour).

Here’s the thing, with the massive six-digit price tag the SUV comes with, not a lot of people can afford to get their hands on one. And that is why Lamborghini came up with this solution. Nope, they are not lowering the price of the Urus, but instead, they have opened up the online configurator to the mass market, so everyone could have a chance to build the perfect Urus for themselves in the virtual world, without having to shell out a single dollar. The only difference is that they won’t be able to drive their creation.

The configurator will let customers choose from a total of 13 colour options including standard and metallic finishes - from Nero Noctis, Giallo Auge, to Grigio Nimbus and Bianco Icarus.

The Lamborghini Urus got quite a bit of attention before it was officially launched. And when the Italian automaker took the sheets off of their newest 2019 Urus, there was a collective gasp as it was truly gorgeous. We could tell that it shares many cues with the original concept in 2012, but the latest model is just a bit more aggressive.

It will definitely stand out beside other SUVs with its new and unique look -- from its chiseled face, slim headlights, to the coloured accents in the grille. Of course, the Urus gets a very powerful engine under its hood.

Having said that, the Lambo’s successor comes equipped with a 4.0-liter biturbo V8, and this pumps out 650 horsepower (484 kilowatts) and 627 pound-feet (850 Newton-metres) of torque. It also returns an impressive 22.2 miles per gallon. This engine works with an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission that benefits from a torque converter -- a first for the Lamborghini brand.

Just last week, on October 5 and 6, Lamborghini opened two new dealerships in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and in Sterling, Virginia, respectively. The company’s CEO Stefano Domenicali attended both lavish events. The company decided to expand to prepare for the launch of the Urus performance SUV that will soon be available in the North American market.

The automaker hopes for the new dealer in Toronto to act as a hub for the brand in the country, considering that Canada is Lamborghini’s fifth largest market around the world. The Sterling store, on the other hand, is the first in the United States to feature Lamborghini’s new showroom design. The automaker believes that the Washington D.C. VIP will be lured into the new showroom.

The company believes that there is a huge market for the Urus, and that it will potentially be a bestselling car, particularly in the United States. The automaker thinks that this will be attractive to families and even women who want a performance hauler, unlike their two-seater models that are aimed at a niche market.

Automobili Lamborghini’s preparations for the production of its first ever sports utility vehicle, the new Lamborghini Urus, has reached new grounds as the Italian carmaker is disclosing plans to construct a paint plant. It also confirmed the addition of new jobs that come with the new facility.

According to the carmaker, the new facility will be used to paint the body of the new Urus SUV. It will be completed by the end of next year. Of course, new hires are needed to man the new paint facility. As per new Lamborghini, the paint plant for the new Urus SUV will employ around 200 new workers once it reaches full production capacity. The Italian carmaker said that the new paint plant will be installed with the most advanced technological systems that boast of low environmental impact. The company plans to commence selling the new Lamborghini Urus on the auto market in 2018.

Lamborghini had envisaged its production facility for the new Urus to cover an area of 150,000 square meters by the end of this year. However, the new paint plant will cover an area of more than 10,000 sqm, which means that Lamborghini’s production facility for the new Urus would cover a total area of more than 160,000 sqm.

When it comes to automakers, many are familiar with those coming from Europe. China appears to be slowly catching up with a host of new companies joining the auto manufacturing business. One of these is Zotye Auto which was established in 2005 and is based in Yongkang, Zhejiang.

Zotye caught the public’s eye when it unveiled the SR9, a clear, if not blatant, copy of the Macan from Porsche. Heads are turning once again as the Chinese automaker recently revealed that it will be presenting a new concept on this year’s Shanghai Auto Show. Styled as the Concept S, the company said it is inspired by the Lamborghini Urus. Those familiar with their work though knows what inspired really means.

Initial preview has not helped at all as the two sketches are appalling, to say the least. The images though show that both the rear section and the side profile are undoubtedly similar to the Urus. It even has the same squared wheel arches and the similar doors. Even the taillight and the bumper are the same. The only difference would be that the rear end has six tailpipes.

Quite a number of hearts were broken when a test mule -- believed to be the new Lamborghini Urus -- seen at the Munich airport turned out to be a camouflaged Audi Q7 SUV. However, that didn’t reduce interest in the new Urus and instead, it even caused more people to become curious about Lamborghini’s first-ever SUV.

This time, we are hoping that it is the real Lamborghini Urus that was recently spotted being driven on the roads of Denmark. Pro-street.dk reported the sighting, which involved what’s speculated to be a heavily camouflaged Lamborghini Urus.

With Stefano Domenicali, chief executive of Lamborghini Automobili, saying that the luxury sports car maker would soon unfurl more details about the Urus in the next few weeks, a global debut of the production version of the SUV at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show in March could be expected. This implies that the camouflaged test mule spotted in Denmark could be the closest final production form of the new Lamborghini Urus. It may even be the actual model already.

Domenicali was able to give DigitalTrends a few minutes of his time, and during the interview the top honcho didn’t think twice about revealing and confirming some juicy details about the Urus SUV.

The up and coming Lamborghini Urus signals the brand’s official foray into the still expanding world of sports utility vehicles. Lamborghini even promised that Urus would the most powerful and the fastest SUV ever. However, it seems that the new Lamborghini Urus would also signal the brand’s venture into the electrification and turbocharging technologies.

In December, Lamborghini’s chief of research and development Maurizio Reggiani, confirmed to AutoCar that the carmaker is keen on offering a plug-in hybrid version of the Lamborghini Urus. This hybrid version would be just one of the many variants of the SUV. This information was recently reiterated by Reggiani to Car Advice during the global launch of the new Lamborghini Aventador S. He nonetheless divulged that similar electrified technologies would also make their way into Lamborghini’s future super sports cars.

Reggiani remarked that a PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) system that Lamborghini has is currently ideal to be fitted an SUV platform. But Lamborghini’s current PHEV technology wouldn’t be suitable – as per the carmaker’s standards -- to be fitted in a super sports car. While a PHEV sports car from Lamborghini is possible, it would only be introduced at the right time, according to Lamborghini chief executive Stefano Domenicalli. The company’s top honcho disclosed two things: Lamborghini’s next-generation super sports car platform is already on the works, and the new Lamborghini Urus SUV will have a hybrid powertrain.

Will Lamborghini ever offer a plug-in hybrid? The sports car maker has been known to create wonderfully dynamic products powered by potent conventional engines. It turns out, Lamborghini is also keen on offering a plug-in hybrid vehicle in the guise of the Lamborghini Urus.

This was confirmed by Maurizio Reggiani, chief of research and development at Lamborghini to AutoCar. However, Lamborghini Urus plug-in hybrid is just one of several versions of the new SUV.

Lamborghini will still offer Urus with a conventional powertrain. Yes, the top men at Lamborghini had already revealed the new Urus SUV will be powered by a 4.8-liter biturbo V8 engine, which should make this yet unrevealed model the fastest SUV in the market upon launch. Actually, this V8 engine is the same powerplant already fitted in Porsche Panamera Turbo, in which it was able to deliver 404 kW (542 hp) of peak output and 770 Nm (568 lb.-ft.) of max torque. The power levels for the Lamborghini Urus remain unknown, although there are speculations that the carmaker would tune it for greater output.

A number of car enthusiasts have long wanted to have a peek at the Urus but Lamborghini is not giving in and continues to hide it from prying eyes. Thus when Rowan Horncastle of Top Gear revealed on Twitter an image of a possible test mule for the Urus, a lot of people were excited. From the photo, it looked to be a camouflaged test mule that was sitting idly at the Munich airport’s parking garage. However it has been revealed that it was not what it was believed to be as a Lamborghini dealer based in Nürnberg, Germany, said that they were the ones who created this model using a Q7. This was done in the hopes of building the hype for the Urus.

The mistake is not surprising considering that using design style of the Q7 does make sense as the Urus utilizes the same platform as that of the Audi. This is the MLB platform of the Volkswagen Group which is also used by the Porsche Cayenne and even the Bentley Bentayga. Using similar foundations in developing the new model, the engineering team can simply put on new parts on a model having the same chassis and immediately start testing.

While the final look has yet to be revealed, executives at Lamborghini did say that the new Urus will be fitted with the 4.8-liter biturbo V8 engine, possibly making it the fastest SUV there is. This same engine is already on the Porsche Panamera Turbo and has shown output of 404 kW (542 hp) with maximum torque of 770 Nm (568 lb.-ft.). There is a chance though that Lamborghini may still tune this to give it more power output. The same executives did disclose that for the production version of the Urus, its appearance will be almost similar to the concept already shown.

Lamborghini officially announced that a third model, a luxury SUV, will join its product range. As you may know already, the Italian carmaker known for its spectacular supercars will enter a new segment and take on vehicles such as the Range Rover, Porsche Cayenne or the upcoming Maserati Levante and Bentley Bentayga.

The first version of the Lamborghini SUV was unveiled back in 2012 at the Beijing Auto Show and it is known as the Urus Concept. We don’t know exactly how Lamborghini will name its new SUV, but we do know that it will bring it on the market in 2018. Moreover, it will be produced at Sant’Agata Bolognese and hundreds of millions of Euros will be invested.

The press releases says that the project will be realized thanks to the joint commitment of several partiers including VW Group with Audi AG as Lamborghini shareholder, the Italian Ministry of Economic Development, Invitalia (Italian national agency for inward investments and economic development), Emilia Romagna Region, the Union Representatives and the entire Automobili Lamborghini team.

Lamborghini has entered an agreement on tax breaks with the Italian government and will soon roll out a new SUV in Italy, according to insiders. The announcement will be made in a press conference set in Rome on Wednesday that will be attended by Lamborghini chief Stephan Winkelmann and Rupert Stadler, the CEO of its parent company Audi.

Italy's Prime Minister Matteo Renzi will also be present to announce the deal. The automaker expects to create jobs for up to 500 people. In return, the Italian government will grant tax breaks and other benefits amounting to 80 million euros ($87 million). Audi aims to add more to its lineup currently composed of two-seat supercars.

Emerging markets like China are not inclined to buy these supercars because of the poor roads in their regions. This SUV that will be built in Italy will be its first since 1993, which is when it stopped production of the boxy LM002 (also known as Rambo Lambo). Sources said earlier this month that there have been several meetings between Lamborghini’s officials and representatives of the Italian government.

The Italian government wants Lamborghini to build its upcoming SUV in the country and to convince the automaker, Prime Minister Matteo Renzi's government may offer up to 100 million euros ($111 million) in tax breaks and other benefits, according to an insider. The government hopes that the final assembly of the Lamborghini Urus, a prototype of which was presented at the 2012 Beijing auto show, will be in Italy.

The automaker has been working on its business case for this vehicle as it aims to get the approval of its parent (VW’s Audi) to start production. If everything proceeds smoothly, this vehicle will be a contender for the sportiest SUV in the world and will be competing with the Aston Martin DBX.

Sources also said that approval is expected by the end of June but it’s difficult to predict the outcome and the timing. In an e-mailed statement, Audi said that no decision has been made yet on the Urus’ series production. Until then, it cannot yet answer where the location of its production will be.

Although there were plenty of rumors regarding the green light for producing the Urus SUV in order to launch it in 2017, Lamborghini is still waiting the approval from Audi. According to company president Stephan Winkelmann, Audi needs to needs to give the approval for Lamborghini’s Urus SUV and despite the fact that the vehicle undergone early conceptual engineering, the decision has yet to come.

A Lamborghini official told Autocar that discussions are continuing and eventually, the Urus will make it into production. Still, the company is concerned by various factors such as the trouble in the Middle East.

If built, the Lamborghini Urus will be based on Audi’s MLB platform, which will be used by the next-generation Audi Q7 as well as the next-generation Porsche Cayenne and VW Touareg and the upcoming Bentley SUV.
