Hyundai revealed that it is offering customers more options to drive the Ioniq EV. Back in November, the brand revealed that it was offering a subscription plan and now it has disclosed just how much this will cost.
The lowest appears to be a monthly fee of $275 plus tax for a total of 36 months. However, it does require you to put in a down payment amounting to $2,500. But if you happen to buy the Ioniq EV in California, the state offers a rebate totaling $2,500. This makes sense considering that Hyundai will only be making this subscription plan available in California. Take note though that it will not cover the entire state as for now it will only include three counties: Riverside, Orange, and Los Angeles. The brand did say that later this year this subscription will be offered in San Diego and Northern California.
There will be three trims offered. The base model is the Electric trim. The other two are Limited, which costs $305 plus tax, and the Limited with the Ultimate Package, offered at $365 plus tax. Assuming that all trims will have the “zero-money” down initiation fee plus the fact that customers will be required to get a three-year subscription, this means that Electric trim can go as high as $9,900. For the Limited it will be $10,980, and the Ultimate Package will come at $13,140.Read the entire article Customers can lease Hyundai Ioniq EV for a low $275 per month
Black Friday is often regarded as a great day for consumers in a number of areas in the United States, including California. This is particularly because on this specific day of the year – a day just after Thanksgiving – companies are racing to offer the lowest prices and the best deals available.
A Fiat dealership – Orange Coast Fiat in Costa Mesa, California -- is riding on this wave by offering the new Fiat 500e all-electric hatchback for lease for just $49 per month. Yes, the good people of California could avail of this lease for less than $50 a month, good for 36 months. Additional good news is that those who availed of this lease don’t have to shell out anything as a down payment.
However, this promo is only a “Limited Inventory” lease, which means only a few units will be available. Of course, this promo is – so far – available only at Orange Coast Fiat and there has been no news yet of other Fiat dealers offering a similar deal. Orange Coast Fiat’s Limited Inventory $49 per month lease deal for the new Fiat 500e all-electric hatchback is available from November 25 (Black Friday) to November 27.Read the entire article California dealer offers $49/month lease deal on Fiat 500e for Black Friday
Back in January of this year, Chevrolet revealed the details of the Bolt electric vehicle. At around this time, the brand also disclosed that the Bolt would come with a $30,000 base price, after considering the federal tax credit of $7,500. Thus, for an electric vehicle that delivers a range of at least 200 miles, this price can be seen as affordable. However, there remains to be interested customers that will either not have the $30,000 easily on hand, hesitant to spend such amount even if they have it, or will not spend it in payments.
That’s why Chevrolet has come up with a program that will allow customers the chance to drive such a vehicle. According to Electrek, GM Financial has started a leasing program specifically for the Bolt with no cash down and a minimum amount of $309 per month after incentives.
That said, it is obvious that should a customer opt to lease a Bolt instead of purchase one, that same customer will not be able to take advantage of the federal tax credit. What General Motors will do is to pass this to the customer resulting in a lower monthly payment. While an $80 fee per week may be difficult for some, this remains to be a good bargain considering that the Bolt was named by Motor Trend as Car of the Year.Read the entire article Chevrolet reveals Bolt leasing program at $309/month
Tesla Motors Inc. is establishing a financing unit aimed at corporate buyers for its Model S premium electric sedan. This will allow small and medium-sized businesses to estimate the cost of leasing while configuring the Model S on Tesla’s Web site, the EV maker said in a statement.
The new Tesla Finance unit will be offering loans from partner banks as well as providing a resale-value guarantee available under the current lease-style program launched a year ago.
Tesla said that the financing options -- when combined with the fuel savings of Model S -- provide an “attractive value proposition.” The move comes as Tesla aims to hike its production of the Model S by 56 percent this year.Read the entire article Tesla sets up finance unit for Model S corporate buyers
Nissan Motor Co. is planning to offer new customers in Texas with free rapid charges for its Leaf electric vehicle starting October 1, 2013. Customers who buy or lease a new Leaf in Dallas, Fort Worth and Houston will be entitled to an all-year unlimited free access to public chargers operated in the locations by NRG Energy Inc.’s eVgo unit.
Nissan spokesman Brian Brockman disclosed that the companies may expand the free service to other markets, depending on customer response. Brockman told Bloomberg through phone that the setup – derived from a strategy pioneered by Tesla Motors – is a pilot program and the carmaker “wants to see how it goes.”
He added that NRG has eVgo networks in other markets, noting that they have high hopes for the pilot program. Nissan, together with alliance partner Renault, is now considered as the largest global seller of pure electric vehicles.Read the entire article Nissan is offering free charging to owners, lessees of new Leaf in Texas
As other carmakers are dropping prices offers for their electric vehicles, Honda decided to adopt the same strategy and slash the lease deal for the Fit EV starting June. Currently, the Honda Fit EV is available for $389/month and Honda plans to lower the price to 259/month. Despite the price drop, the offer still includes collision insurance, scheduled maintenance, unlimited mileage and a 240-volt Leviton charger.
So, if you want a Fit EV, the only out-of-pocket cost is when starting the lease and you have to pay the first month's lease payment, license and registration fees. "There never been an upfront [capitalized cost] payment, and there will never be," said spokeswoman Robyn Eagles.
Moreover, Honda will also expand the network of certified Fit EV dealers in California, Oregon, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Maryland, Rhode Island and Connecticut. Honda will have more than 200 showrooms from 36.Read the entire article Honda Fit EV monthly lease price reduced from $389 to $259 a month
It is quite common to see Mercedes-Benz taxis plying the streets of Germany. Mercedes-Benz E-Class taxi models can be found in almost every taxi stand throughout the country. In fact, three of every five taxis in Germany are Mercedes-Benz E-Class. Mercedes’ dominance in its home country isn't expected to be toppled soon, but Jaguar Land Rover of the United Kingdom is taking its chances with the new Jaguar I-Pace.
While 60 percent of all taxis in Germany being Mercedes E-Class, Jaguar is only sending 10 units of the I-Pace. Likewise, these 10 I-Pace units will only be fielded in the city of Munich, which is the home city of another German premium carmaker – BMW. The Jaguar I-Pace crossover taxis will be fielded in the city by Munich’s largest taxi operator.
In a statement, Jaguar Land Rover chief executive Ralf Speth said that the carmaker is inviting people in Munich not just to drive electric vehicles, but also drive Jaguar. He remarked that one of the reasons that Jaguar Land Rover deployed the I-Pace taxis in Munich is the mixed traffic. He remarked that in Munich, the I-Pace will be able experience both city and highway (autobahn) traffics.Read the entire article Ten Jaguar I-Pace taxis to be deployed in Munich, Germany
Porsche managed to drop quite a powerful bomb at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show in March when it unveiled the Porsche Mission E Cross Turismo, a concept study of an electrically driven Cross Utility Vehicle (CUV). Being a concept, the path of the Mission E Cross Turismo into becoming a production electric CUV isn't fully assured. However, there is a reason expect its production version three years from now.
A report from Automobile Magazine, citing the supplier community, is saying that the Porsche Mission E Cross Turismo will be launched into the market in late 2021. If this is true, then this means that newly unveiled BEV sibling of the Porsche Taycan – formerly known as the Porsche Mission E – would be plying the roads as a more practical version of the Taycan around three years from now. By then, the Mission E Crosss Turismo would directly compete against the Tesla Model S
Stefan Weckbach, head of Porsche’s global electrification efforts, has told Automobile Magazine during a test ride in one of the prototypes of the Porsche Mission E Crosss Turismo that the German sports car maker is working on the electric CUV concept with volume production in mind, although they have yet to receive an official go-ahead. He noted that with two motors -- one up front and another in the back -- an all-wheel drive system and an underfloor battery pack, the Mission E Crosss Turismo is also close to the final configuration. However, the Mission E Crosss Turismo still has some important elements that needed to be installed, like its air suspension system and rear-wheel steering.Read the entire article Porsche Mission E Cross Turismo might be launched in late 2021
Soon, it will be end of the road for the people’s car from Germany – the Volkswagen Beetle – as the carmaker is due to end the production of the second generation in 2019. Sadly, VW has no plans to give the Beetle a direct successor. Nonetheless, it remains possible that the name “Beetle” would be resurrected as an all-new model distinct from its current two-door form.
A report from Autocar is saying that VW is considering creating a revolutionary new Beetle, one that has four doors and powered by an electric powertrain. The new Beetle could be presented as part of the army of emotional cars that VW plans to launch along its standard models.
The carmaker’s top honcho, Herbert Diess, is bent on introducing these new emotional cars, which will include the production version of the ID Buzz microbus that will be due on 2022. But before the ID Buzz, VW will be introducing the production versions of its volume electric vehicles like the ID hatchback and ID Crozz sports utility vehicle at the end of the decade (2020).Read the entire article VW might bring a new four-door electric-powered Beetle after ID models
Right now, Audi is in the earliest stages when it comes to developing a fully electric supercar. But as this technology is still a few years away before they can be used, Audi sees this as one of the obstacles.
Peter Oberndorfer, Audi’s boss of product and technology communications, told Motoring that at this moment, they really consider everything, but they think that battery development is vital.
Oberndorfer believes that future solid state batteries will be necessary to achieve the perfect combination of performance and range. Peter Mertens, the development boss, confirms that solid state batteries will not be available anytime soon. He also told Motoring that the advantage of these batteries would be that they’re much lighter and need less space.Read the entire article Audi might be the first to use solid-state batteries in electric supercars
For those of you who have been waiting for Porsche’s first electric vehicle, which is supposed to come after the Porsche Mission E, the automaker had just reported that the production version will be called the Taycan, coming to dealers in 2019. According to Oliver Blume, Porsche Boss, the name Taycan translates to “lively, young horse”, reports CNBC. The title is a reference to the horse on the city of Stuttgart coat of arms that also appears on the Porsche emblem.
As we saw in the spy shots, the Taycan is a sleek sedan that kind of looks like an overextended 911 turned into a four door. It has got a low nose featuring LED headlights, and there the roof is also slightly sloped that lends a coupe like silhouette. Inside, expect Porsche to pack the four door with the company’s cutting edge equipment.
According to reports, the range topping Taycan will have over 600 horsepower (447 kilowatts), thanks to its electric motors. It is now able to accelerate to 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) in under 3.5 seconds. Porsche also promises that it will have a driving range of 311 miles (500 kilometers) in only a single charge. The entry level model, that has 402 horsepower (300 kilowatts) will have a starting price of around $85,000.Read the entire article Road going Mission E gets the name Taycan
Since electric vehicles are becoming more popular, and are also becoming more viable for long distance trips, car enthusiasts would try and push the limits of what their cars are capable of on a single charge. Two men in Denver decided to take out the Tesla Model 3 over the weekend to drive it, and after 32 hours, they celebrated victory. However, that’s all their car can do.
EV aficionados have this term they use, “hypermiling”, to describe the idea of them getting the most juice out of their car’s battery, though efficient driving on a forgiving route. The guys we mentioned earlier were Sean M. Mitchell and Erik Strait, who set out on Friday to firmly beat the previous hypermiling record on a closed loop near the Denver Airport. The loop was about a mile in distance, and featured an elevation change of only 10 feet, while the two drove at speeds between 20 and 30 miles per hour.
Tesla rates the Model 3’s range between 220 and 310 miles on a single charge, but the two guys hoped they could reach 600 miles. So what they did was they live-streamed their circuitous journey on Youtube, interacted with those who commented, caught Chipotle burritos in a fishing net and were able to go past their goal 32 hours later.Read the entire article Tesla Model 3’s crazy new record is 606.2 miles

It was back in October last year when Volkswagen began teasing us about the fully electric Pikes Peak racer, and last month, they showed us fully revealing images of the model. Now finally, VW has opened up and is ready to talk about the model’s technical specs.
This zero-emissions race car carries two electric motors, that gives out a combined output of 680 horsepower (500 kilowatts) and a considerable amount of torque at 650 Newton metres (480 pound feet). These numbers are already impressive but wait until we tell you that the vehicle weighs under 1,100 kilograms (2,425 pounds). If you do the math, it’s easy to conclude that that this car can go quite fast.
According to VW, in only 2.25 seconds, the I.D. R Pikes Peak can accelerate to 69 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) in as short as 2.25 seconds. Having said that, it even is faster than a Formula 1 and Formula E racers. Undoubtedly, the Audi E-Tron is one of the most highly anticipated models out there. And guess what? It was only days ago that the electric SUV had been spotted testing out its zero emissions powertrain on the Green Hell. And we have the spy shots to prove this. But even as the hype is getting high on its arrival, the buzz now is on how Audi presented the official range figures for the new SUV.
Audi brought its E-Tron prototype to the Siemens AG facility in Berlin, Germany. Here, the company decided to shock the E-Tron (literally) with a Faraday cage with a high voltage lightning bolt, and guess what happened to the vehicle? It only got minor burn marks on the roof.
During this shocking presentation by Audi, the new E-Tron’s range was announced. That being said, Audi said that the SUV will have a range of 400 kilometers (248.5 miles) in the European WLTP driving cycle. Take note that they have not released figures for the US just yet. We’re all eagerly looking forward to that information.Read the entire article Audi announces E-Tron’s 248-mile range with a lightning-bolt display in Germany
