The Lexus IS 300 five-passenger luxury sport sedan is nothing short of hot. It is sizzling with performance-laden power thanks to a 3.5-liter V6 engine that provides 255 hp of max output and 236 lb-ft of peak torque available between 2,000 rpm and 4,800 rpm. It is also oozing with luxury and sportiness. Hot indeed!
To make the Lexus IS 300 much hotter – at least in terms of looks -- the people at Lexus collaborated with Huy Fong Foods, a known maker of the iconic Sriracha chili sauce. No, they don’t plan to pour Sriracha chili sauce onto a Lexus IS 300. That would be an insane idea.
But wait, Lexus did actually try to add Sriracha onto the paint that would serve as the exterior finish of this one-off Lexus IS 300 all-wheel-drive sedan. Insane as it is, but sometimes crazy ideas are needed to achieve something fresh and appealing, especially if it is to catch the attention of visitors to the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show being held at the LA Convention Center. And Lexus sure did turn many heads with this creation.Read the entire article One-off Sriracha Lexus IS 300 show car is on the hot seat at 2016 LA Auto Show
Lexus has long been known to make cars that display human craftsmanship skills. In celebration, the brand has come out with a new model: the Lexus Origami Car. An authentic replica of the IS saloon, it is a Lexus like it has never been seen before.
Instead of the usual plastic, glass, and sheet metal, the Origami Car is a life-size model that uses precision-cut cardboard as the main material. At the production line of Lexus, this skillfull group of people, also known as takumi, work to improve their dexterity skills through origami.
They learn how to fold paper and turn it an origami model cat. The catch is that they do it using their non-dominant hand. This talent is made use of in the making of the Origami Car but it has been taken to a much higher level.Read the entire article Lexus puts cardboard IS saloon Origami Car on exhibit
The new Lexus IS, which was just presented at the Detroit Auto Show, will not be available with a diesel engine. Instead, this engine has been replaced with a petrol-electric hybrid that boasts of having a CO2 emissions level that’s less than 100g/km of CO2. This new car will start selling this summer in the UK.
Powering the IS is either a 2.5-litre petrol V6 in the IS 250 or a combination of a 2.5-litre four-cylinder and electric motor in the IS 300h. This is the same hybrid system that’s found under the hood of the Japanese market Toyota Crown. In this car, the engine delivers 163lb ft and 175bhp, and the motor delivers 141bhp and 221lb ft. When combined, the system offers 217bhp and Lexus is hoping to attain a fuel consumption rating of more than 65mpg.
The IS 250 and 300h are both rear-wheel drive, with the 250 pushing the wheels with the use of a six-speed auto.Read the entire article 2013 NAIAS: 2014 Lexus IS ditches diesel engine, gets 300h hybrid version
After yesterday’s leaked photos, Lexus officially unveiled the brand new 2014 IS. Moreover, the Japanese manufacturer announced that the 2014 Lexus IS will make its debut at the Detroit Auto Show on January 15. Just like the outgoing version, the new IS model range will include the IS 250, IS 350 and for the first time, the IS 300h hybrid model.
F SPORT models will be available across the full range. The first photos revealed by the manufacturer show the all-new new IS 250/350 F SPORT. The first visual impact with the 2014 Lexus IS shows the new Lexus spindle grille frontal design but also a new set of stylish headlamps. In profile, the strong horizontal beltline shows off the large rear tires and its low center of gravity.
The rear end is also impressive and features a rising crease line flowing from the lower body, through the rear wheel arch and into the rear lamp.Read the entire article Official: 2014 Lexus IS makes its debut
It has become obvious from recent reports that the next Lexus IS would be very different from its current appearance. Peter Evans, a marketing manager at Lexus Australia, said that Lexus can’t just be evolutionary, considering that it’s a challenger brand and is currently at No. 4 in sales. It’s expected that the new IS would be sportier and will offer an improved performance.
It’s possible that the new IS will be built on the GT86 platform, which could lead to a coupe variant that’s a lot sportier. Costs would be reduced if the current platform is used. In fact, revising the frame to fit the IS would be a costly process. He said that an IS F is likely to be presented in the future. It’s also probably going to use the GT86 chassis. Ketan Renade, Lexus product planner for the ES and LS, said that they realize that they have to focus on the IS.
He said that the IS won’t be like its rivals that have a great performance as well as luxury ride. Rather, the IS will get a wider more aggressive stance. It would also be its most drastically designed spindle grille so far. Due to its sales positioning, the Lexus designers now offer plenty of room that will make the IS totally evolutionary.Read the entire article 2014 Lexus IS will be sportier and will offer an improved performance
Do you know what happens when a crew of musicians, a mathematician, a stunt driver and Lexus have a meeting? Well, the "Music Track" commercial is born.
Lexus revealed today its latest ad, where an Ultrasonic Blue 2011 Lexus IS sport sedan spins its wheels and navigates the raceway, precisely tripping each and every drum lever on the track in order to create a beat as it speeds by, igniting the base, snare, toms and cymbals.
The Lexus IS takes the role of a musician and honestly to tell you we’d buy its album if the manufacturer decides to launch it. And don’t think that making this clip was easy, because it wasn’t.Read the entire article Video: Lexus ‘Music Track’ commercial makes us wanna beg for a 2011 IS
If you order now, you can get the latest vehicle from the Lexus IS range in December. As shown in the Frankfurt Motor Show, the IS range has received several changes. The list of modifications includes a new F-Sport package for the IS 250 and 220d (shown in the photos), as well as the addition of a limited-slip differential to the high-performance IS-F.
While the engine and transmission of the IS-F remain unchanged, Lexus claims that adding the new differential makes the car two seconds a lap quicker around the Fuji International Speedway.
The new differential works by sending power to the rear wheel with the most grip. This gives the car much more traction as well as improves its stability in high-speed corners.Read the entire article Frankfurt Motor Show: Lexus revises the 2010 IS range
Lexus unveiled today the all new ultra-high-performance IS F model for 2010. Back in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show, Lexus announced that the new car will carry a new limited slip differential which had happened as the full-blooded sports saloon has a better traction and stability in high-speed cornering.
According to the manufacturer, the engineers improved car's lap time around the Fuji International Speedway by a full two seconds.
Under the hood we find the same 5.0-litre V8 engine 417 bhp @ 6,600 rpm as well as 505 Nm of torque. With these numbers the car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.8 seconds while the top speed is electronically limited to 270 km/h (168 mph).Read the entire article 2010 Lexus IS F revealed

Using cameras to replace the rear and side mirrors isn't something new. However, this technology is usually found on concept vehicles and some exotic cars. But at Lexus, this technology will be installed on one of its premium sedans starting October this year.
Lexus is introducing the world' first Digital Outer Mirrors, which will initially be fitted on the new 2019 Lexus ES. Digital Outer Mirrors make use of small exterior cameras on the front doors. They are mounted on stalks that swell on the place where conventional side mirrors are usually found.
The cameras send images onto displays – each monitor measuring five inches diagonally– inside the cabin, as positioned at the base of the front pillars. Instead of looking through the windows onto the side mirrors, a driver just have to view the images on the displays. This means that the driver’s view of the sides and the rear of the cars aren’t compromised when the windows are dirty or hazy.Read the entire article Side mirrors in 2019 Lexus ES sedan can be replaced with camera-based Digital Outer Mirrors

The global automotive market is dominated by several major players from Japan, Europe and the United States. Some companies from South Korea and India are also major players in the automotive world. In the recent years, a few automakers from China are making some noise. How about a carmaker from Vietnam?

Seeing itself as brand for Vietnamese cars, VinFast is a part of the VinGroup, a $10-billion conglomerate in Vietnam that is involve in operating shopping malls, resorts, spas, hospitals and schools as well as apartment complexes in the country. Led by 50-year richest man in Vietnam, billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong, VinGroup is venturing into industrial manufacturing through VinFast.

Lynk & Co, a carmaker founded just two years ago, is introducing its third production model: the Lynk & Co 03 sedan. This new model – derived from a concept first unveiled in April 2017 at the Auto Shanghai – marks the Chinese brand’s very first sedan.
When the Chinese carmaker unveiled the Lynk & Co 03 Concept at the 2017 Auto Shanghai, it was easily unmistakable that this sedan concept featured the design cues – both on the front and on the rear ends – of the Lynk & Co 01 and 02 sports utility vehicle. It looked like the 01 and the 02 but in a more aggressive and sportier package.
After more than a year, Lynk & Co – a Chinese-Swedish auto brand owned by Zhejiang Geely Holding Group that also owns Volvo -- is introducing the 03 sedan, which is essentially the production version of the 03 Concept shown in Shanghai in 2017. On a closer look, it seems that the Chinese carmaker didn’t bother to change or revise the design of the show car, especially since both the 03 production version and the 03 Concept basically look the same.Read the entire article Production version of Lynk & Co 03 sedan introduced
Mercedes-AMG only came out with the E43 lineup a few years ago, and already, the said model is ready to retire the badge so they could give way for the arrival of the electrified E53 family. It was first revealed at the beginning of the year during the Detroit Auto Show and came in two body styles, a coupe and a cabriolet. These were then followed by the reveal of the sedan and wagon flavours last month.
And according to the automaker, towards the end of the year, Mercedes will be selling the 2019 model year E53 Sedan in the United States, as a replacement of the E43 Sedan, and it will come along with the more upscale two-door E53 models. To make it clear, the name change is just a minor thing.
The real upgrade is in its performance, as it now packs more power. But instead, the new inline six biturbo 3.0 liter engine has an output of 429 horsepower and 384 pound feet of torque. That’s a noticeable difference compared to the old model that offered the output of 396 horsepower and 384 pound feet that came from the former V6 engine.Read the entire article 2019 Mercedes-AMG E53 Sedan will be available in the US later this year

A few days back, we discussed that Ford’s plan involves retiring most of its compact cars and sedans and replacing them with SUVs. However, there would be two small models that will remain in the lineup -- the Mustang and the Focus Active, at least for the United States. So what is the automaker’s reason for doing so? Well, the answer is as simple as this - money.
To support that statement, Jim Hackett, Ford’s CEO said in his interview with Automotive News that they have decided to just focus on the healthier part of the business, referring to trucks and crossovers. In the first quarter of 2018 alone, the company’s sales of $3 billion all came from this segment. Soon, 90 percent of all sales will come from this.
The CEO added that they will soon deal with the parts of the company that destroy value. He, of course, is speaking of sedans and hatchbacks. In fact, by 2022, they hope to uncover $25.5 billion in savings with the switch to SUVs and trucks. This is double the amount identified back in October ($14 million).Read the entire article Why is Ford getting rid of its sedans and hatchbacks?
During the 2018 Beijing Motor Show, Geely revealed a new flagship saloon model, and for the very first time, it looks like the Chinese automaker might actually set the bar for other international marques to follow.
The Bo Rui GE is the first-ever model to roll out of the automaker’s new design centers set up by Peter Horbury, the company’s head of design, who once worked in Volvo and is now with Geely to oversee design of the company’s subsidiaries. He has been a part of brands like Lotus and LEVC, also known as the company that makes the London taxi.
According to Horbury, the Bo Rui GE was not made under the influence of the Western culture. Rather, it is a sign that the Chinese’s tastes are changing. During his interview, he also stated that the Chinese market has evolved and has become more sophisticated and mature compared to how they were a few years ago. This way, the automaker has also evolved into becoming a confident global brand that can now develop segment-leading cars, but still with a hint of its Chinese origin.Read the entire article Geely’s flagship Bo Rui GE sedan appears ready to take on the world
