Lexus stunned the motoring world in January this year when it unveiled the fifth generation of its Lexus LS flagship sedan (2018 model year) at the 2017 Detroit Motor Show. Around nine months forward, Lexus is unveiling a more futuristic yet achievable concept version of the LS luxury sedan – laden with a wide array of technological elements – at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show in Japan.
Introducing the Lexus LS+ Concept, a study of flagship’s future form as loaded with state-of-the-art technologies. As Lexus sees the new LS+ Concept, this study was developed to symbolize its vision for the future, especially when it is fitted with automated driving technologies that the luxury carmaker plans to apply in its flagship sedan by the end of the decade (2020).
In terms of design, the LS+ Concept is derived from the latest generation of the Lexus LS flagship sedan, particularly with regards to its shape. However, compared to the 2018 LS sedan, the LS+ Concept comes with a more futuristic front and rear ends. After all, the LS+ Concept provides a glimpse into the new design direction of the next generation of Lexus vehicles, as derived from the brand’s L-finesse*3 design philosophy.Read the entire article New Lexus LS+ Concept previews future design and technologies for the flagship sedan
Before the end of April, Lexus filed for a trademark with the name “LS-FC Concept” that’s for use on “automobiles and structural parts thereof”.
Does this mean that we will finally see the rumored hydrogen-fueled LS model? It has been years since the rumour started. We had learned that an LS model is soon to make its debut after the launch of the LF-FC concept, which was supposed to be a preview of the next-generation LS.
If the rumours are true, then the LS would use a variant of the Toyota Mirai powertrain, with an all-wheel drive that has four separate electric motors powering each corner. The company hasn’t been sharing details regarding this issue just yet.Read the entire article Lexus trademark filing gives us hints of what the future LS will be like
This one takes the cake for the ultimate customer service. A centenarian treats himself for hitting the 100 year mark by purchasing a £100k Lexus. Upon hearing of the purchase, Lexus decided to make the celebration a bit more special, by customizing the luxury car the centenarian will never forget.
Who is the gentleman in question? He is Barry High OBE who hails from Blockley and is duly recognized as a loyal customer to the Japanese automaker.
Barry High joined the Royal Engineers in the Army when he left school, and by the time the World War 2 concluded, he has risen up to the rank of Major. Afterwards his main trade was construction. He reportedly bought as many as 25 automobiles from Lexus Cheltenham for the last 16 years. On his birthday, Sir Barry decided to make his birthday a tad extraordinary and went to his all time favourite vehicle manufacturer and immediately ordered a £100,00 (around $128,000) Lexus LS 600h L , cause why not?Read the entire article Lexus endows a custom LS600h L to a loyal centenarian client
Japanese automaker Lexus recently unveiled its all new flagship sedan, the 2018 LS 500. The eye candy vehicle made its debut in Detroit and will be followed by the hybrid LS 500h in Geneva Auto Show. Geared for unveiling in New York will be the next level LS 500 F Sport treatment that allegedly boasts of modified design from its predecessor, chassis tuning and more stopping power.
Since its debut 30 years ago, the Lexus LS has stood out from its rival thanks to its power and ride qualities, making it the smoothest and the quietest in the global market. However, the Lexus LS 500 F Sport isn't made to be the most performance conforming vehicle coming from Lexus- unlike the F models that are the GS F and RC F.
The F Sport is more of a middle ground performer between Lexus cars and the F models. But don't be fooled as this sports car also packs a punch. Lexus' F sport packages are made for regular units and offers sharper handling aside from ensuring utmost comfort for the driver and its passengers.Read the entire article 2018 Lexus LS 500 F Sport unveiled at New York Auto Show
Lexus once again intensifies its product portfolio with a new LS F Sport –shortly after coming out with an all-new LS 500 and LS 500h at this year’s auto shows. Basically, this new Lexus are for those who want to get more punch and depth to the usual LS 500 sedan.
The 2018 Lexus LS F Sport will ride on the brand’s premium GA-L platform (Lexus’ global architecture for luxury vehicles). At the very least, the Japanese brand is expecting the LS F Sport to benefit from the GA-L’s responsive and agile performance, while keeping the same cabin quietness and smooth ride that are synonymous to all LS models.
It can be recalled that Lexus made a promise to bring the most engaging driving experience on the new LS sedan. The GA-L platform, after all, happens to have the stiffest chassis it has ever developed in years.Read the entire article 2018 Lexus LS 500 F Sport teased ahead of New York Auto Show premiere
Lexus stunned the audience at the 2017 North American International Auto Show with its fifth-generation 2018 Lexus LS flagship sedan. The new generation of Lexus’ flagship sedan raised the bar of what a luxury vehicle should be – challenging the norm with its exquisite design, new levels of interior values and outstanding performance elements.
The Lexus LS unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show was the LS 500, which has at its core a new 3.5-liter V6 engine with Formula One-derived twin turbochargers. This new engine is touted to be more powerful than the V8 powerplant seen in the fourth-gen LS sedan, yet it remains fuel-efficient with minimized levels of vibration. This new V6 engine is tuned to develop 415 hp of max output and 442 lb.-ft. of peak torque, with power sent to the rear wheels or to all four wheels through a 10-speed automatic gearbox.
Now, Lexus is taking this level of efficiency to a whole new level – by offering a new hybrid version of its LS flagship sedan. No, Lexus hasn’t unveiled the hybridized LS sedan, bound to be called as the LS 500h. However, speculating on overall design and powertrain of the LS 500h should be easy, given the availability of information existing on the new generation of Lexus vehicles.Read the entire article Lexus to unveil LS 500h hybrid premium sedan at 2017 Geneva Motor Show
When the latest Lexus LS flagship sedan was unveiled at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show, it managed to turn several heads and capture the attention of the world. With its stunning looks and premium specs, the new Lexus LS 500 is expected to revolutionize anew the luxury vehicle sector, just like what the first LS managed to do decades ago.
But how would the new Lexus LS sedan stack up against comparably sized Germany rivals in the luxury segment, like the BMW 740i, Mercedes-Benz S550 and the Audi A8 L 3.0T?
So, our verdict? While the Lexus LS 500 seems to be a good proposition, its price has yet to be announced and its performance is still as good as printed in a paper. For now, the LS 500 wins, until we could really try being behind the wheels of all of these premium sedans.Read the entire article How does the 2018 Lexus LS compare against German premium sedans?
The kingdom of Lexus’ premium luxury is now in the hands of fifth-generation royalty. Lexus has introduced the latest representation of its finest qualities – the first generation of the LS flagship sedan – at the 2017 North American International Auto Show.
Just like the original LS premium sedan, the fifth-gen 2018 Lexus LS flagship challenges the norm not only with its exquisite design but also by offering whole new levels of interior values and performance elements. In short, the fifth-gen flagship sedan raises the bar on what a luxury vehicle should be.
Making all of these possible is Lexus’ all-new global architecture for luxury vehicles (GA–L), which was first seen on the new generation 2017 Lexus LC 500 coupe. During the development of the LC 500, the Japanese premium carmaker made sure that is not just about creating a new coupe, and is building the start of a new phase for the brand, reflecting the shift in terms of design principles and the engineering methods.Read the entire article 2017 Detroit Auto Show: Lexus stuns audience with 2018 LS flagship sedan
When Lexus unveiled the 2017 LC 500 luxury coupe at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show, Toyota’ premium brand was able to prove that its boring days are over. The same could also be said for the upcoming 2018 Lexus LS flagship luxury sedan which is set to be unveiled at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show as the new fifth generation model.
Actually, the new generation of Lexus’ flagship luxury sedan was previewed at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show by the LF-FC concept. This concept highlights a new styling theme that exemplifies Lexus’ L-finesse design philosophy and offers a glimpse into the new design and technology direction of its future flagship sedan. At the front, the LF-FC concept features an evolved version of Lexus' signature grille with a new mesh design as well as floating "L-shaped" daytime running lights (DRL) that extrude from the front fenders. Meanwhile, the concept car’s rear features new taillights with the same floating theme as the DRL on the front. When viewed from the sides, the Lexus LF-FC concept features a roofline flowing from front to rear just like that of a four-door coupe.
While we can expect that the new 2018 Lexus LS luxury sedan would adopt several design elements from the Lexus LF-FC concept, we could also expect changes or a further evolution of the design. The front end of the new LS sedan could very well look like that of the 2017 Lexus LC 500 luxury coupe, especially with its headlights and daytime running lights.Read the entire article 2018 Lexus LS flagship luxury sedan will debut at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show

Lexus may be developing a hybrid model with the LS450h badge that uses a highly different approach from the existing model. This hybrid version of its flagship LS sedan may get V8 power from a hybrid V6 drivetrain, according to Ketan Renade, the product planner for the big luxury sedan. In comparison, an electric motor is used on the current LS hybrid to boost a V8 gasoline engine to an even higher level.
Renade commended that even with the previous efforts of the Toyota luxury division to convince consumers that hybrid technology is a performance gain, it is seen by consumers as a method to be more fuel-efficient.
Renade said that if Lexus actually does build a hybrid Lexus LS in the future, it would be a V6 hybrid. Lexus first hinted at this revision in hybrid development in the new ES300h, which features a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder and electric motor to produce 200 hp, a drop from the gasoline V6 model that delivers 268 hp. It’s likely that a hybrid V6 LS would use the existing powertrain used in the GS450h, which offers 338 hp and a 29 mpg city, 34 mpg highway rating.Read the entire article Lexus working on the LS 450h hybrid flagship sedan

Several images of the new Lexus LS-F model being tested at the Nurburgring have been released. It can be recalled that a few weeks ago, there was another group of pictures of this car that had been unveiled online together with images of the upcoming LFA GTE race car that will join the 24 Hours of Le Mans next year. Toyota asked that these pictures be removed from the websites but then, they didn’t really disappear.
This time though, the car’s details were released along with the pictures. The widebody DTM-style uber-sedan has taken on the name, the TMG (Toyota Motorsport GmbH) Edition. It’s believed to have been created by the brand’s motorsports division, according to AutoGuide.
It is powered by a 650-hp engine and according to a spied spec sheet, the TMG Edition’s engine has a displacement of 5.0-liters and revs to 9000 rpm.Read the entire article Spied: Lexus LS TMG Edition shows up at Nurburgring
Lexus’ flagship LS 460 model for 2012 has received several improvements, according to the brand’s North American division. This Saturday, July 2, 2011, His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco will exchange vows with Ms. Charlene Wittstock. Lexus will be celebrating this joyous occasion by having its full hybrid LS 600h L Landaulet serve as the official Royal Wedding car. With its transparent and one-piece roof made of polycarbonate, the Royal Wedding LS 600h L comes with the brand’s very own Hybrid Drive which gives it lower emissions in terms of NOx, CO2, and even particulate emissions unlike any car with similar features.
It also offers the comfort and performance that one would expect from a flagship of Lexus. During the day of the wedding, the Royal Wedding LS 600h L Landaulet will be the one the royal couple will use to go around the Principality once the ceremony is finished. This will start from the Palace on the Rocher down going to the harbor and then up to Boulevard Albert I and eventually Sainte-Devote Church. This is where, according to tradition, the princess will be leaving her bridal bouquet to Monegasques who are waiting.
During this trip, it will be run using full zero-emission mode, or solely using electric motor power. As such, it reaffirms the environmental claim of the brand’s Hybrid Drive. Working in partnership with Brussels-based engineers from Lexus, Carat Duchatelet, celebrated coachbuilders from Belgium did the work on the advanced conversion which took more than 2,000 hours to finish. The main objective of this particular project was to make sure that while the final car would continue to have that technological superiority and high level of quality expected from a Lexus, it will remain to have the dynamic qualities, as well as the safety and performance features of the original LS 600h L.Read the entire article Lexus LS 600h Landaulet gets ready for the royal wedding

GM InsideNews reports that General Motors is considering a Premium Zeta-based Buick flagship for North America that will rival the Lexus LS. Last June, GMI clarified rumors about the status of a Cadillac flagship sedan, revealing that Cadillac is considering a Premium Zeta-based sedan to be its flagship sedan.
The latest GMI report states that the GM board of directors recently approved preliminary design work for the Buick flagship sedan. But unlike the Cadillac sedan, the Buick sedan doesn't have the green light for production yet.
So far, it has gotten the approval for management and product development with limited resources. This car is still in its infancy stage and not much is known about it. However, sources say that GM's design studio looks at this design to be "very hot."Read the entire article GM considering Buick flagship sedan to take on the Lexus LS
Lexus made quite an appearance at the Frankfurt Auto Show with its new LS 600H, a completely hybrid colossus which benefited of important technological and design upgrades. The revised model features re-worked seats, improved equipment, new Eco driving mode and re-worked larger 380mm ventilated front disc brakes with six-piston callipers, rotors and pads developed with the help of specialist manufacturer Brembo.
The new LS 600h is powered by a Lexus Hybrid Drive system featuring a new ECO mode which helps to improve fuel economy due to a higher performance of the air conditioning and a lower charging on the engine under acceleration. Due to an innovative packaging the battery was split in two sections of 6 and 14 modules reducing the overall size and giving a larger space for deposit in the boot.
All the modifications made to the LS 600h's Hybrid Drive System meet the Euro V exhaust emissions standards keeping in the same time its performance at high level: a mixture between the 5.0L V8 petrol engine and the 165kW electric motor, producing an output of 439bHP, reaching 100km/h in 6.3 sec.Read the entire article 2010 Lexus LS 600h revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show
To increase hybrid sales now especially since the 2010 models are coming in, automakers are offering incredible incentives. The past year has been terrible for the industry but more so for the segment on premium hybrid-electric vehicles. Factors that made this worse include low gas prices and lower demand in the luxury market.
A few days ago, Toyota Motor Corp.'s Lexus premium division, owner of the market's most-expensive hybrid in its LS 600h L, introduced a $10,000 dealer-cash incentive on the '09 model of the flagship hybrid.
Toyota also offers a bounty of $1,000 to any sales associate selling a 2009 LS 600h L, which starts at $106,035. Toyota doesn't break out sales of the hybrid LS in its monthly sales reports; however, sales of the entire LS line are down 53.7% through September as sales in almost all luxury segments continue to decline.Read the entire article Lexus offering $10k incentive for a 2009 LS 600h L!
