Lexus was the best-selling luxury brand in the United States for 11 years until 2011, thanks to its reputation for durability and its versatile RX crossover. Since then, the luxury vehicle market in the US has been dominated by German marques. In 2014, Lexus has shown promises of being able to recapture that crown once again.
It was third overall and was just 19,000 shy of second place Mercedes-Benz. For this year, Lexus chances have gone up, as the brand’s entry in the fast-selling compact crossover segment – the new NX – is leading its charge. In fact, the NX has helped Lexus sold 26-percent more luxury vehicles in February and edged BMW for second place.
In fact, around two-thirds of Lexus’ total monthly gains in February were NXs (2,666 units). “The NX is a brilliant product and it really fills a pretty big hole that Lexus has had for a pretty long time,” reamarked John Krafcik, president of auto researcher TrueCar Inc. Lexus saw its sales in February surge 22 percent, led by the RX SUV that grew 14 percent to 6,490 units.Read the entire article New NX makes Lexus a serious contender to US luxury car sales crown
