The MY2016 Lexus RC luxury coupe is once again poised to shock the premium market with its elegant looks, extensive technological features and new engine variants. Customers now have a wider range of RC vehicles to choose from, with the new RC 200t and RC 300 AWD joining the RC 350 in Lexus’s coupe line-up.
Each of these RC models features different power output with optional engine selections. The Lexus LF-C2 Concept a.k.a. the convertible version of the RC Coupe made quite a buzz at the 2014 LA Auto Show, but don’t make any plans folks as the Japanese manufacturer will not offer such a vehicle. Apparently, dealers requested for a three-row crossover and that’s why, the company had to put on hold the RC convertible.
So, Lexus is working on a three-row crossover, but what’s more interesting is that the upcoming vehicle will not use an extended version of the RX’s wheelbase, but the one used by the upcoming LS flagship sedan.
The rear-wheel-drive platform will allow Lexus to take on competitors such as the Mercedes-Benz GL, Audi Q7 and the Infiniti QX80. Although the new halo car for Lexus, it appears that the specialized media is not too interested in the new RC sports coupe. The Japanese company notified journalists that a new-car test-drive event was canceled and the reason is quite unusual: lack of interest. What’s more interesting is that both Japanese and non-Japanese media were invited.
For those who don’t know, the Lexus RC sports coupe was unveiled last year and is inspired by the LF-LC Concept. Lexus will offer its new coupe in two versions, the RC 350 powered by a 3.5-liter V6 petrol engine with 306 hp (236 kW) and 227 lb-ft (375 lb-ft) of torque and the hybrid RC 300h, which uses a 2.5-liter engine.

The Lexus RC 350 F Sport is already an attractive sports car but thanks to Gordon Ting and Beyond Marketing, the Japanese coupe looks even better. The vehicle arrived at the 2014 SEMA Show and features a TRA-Kyoto custom Rocket Bunny wide body kit consisting of a new front lip spoiler, enlarged front and rear fenders, new side sills, a rear boot lid, as well as a new rear bumper with integrated air diffuser and exhaust system.

Prior to the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, Lexus unveiled the 2015 Lexus RC 350 F Sport. Based on the RC 350 Coupe, the new Lexus comes with exclusive design elements, which are enhanced by driving performances. According to the Japanese company, the RC 350 F Sport’s dynamic upgrades include Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) and the available Lexus Dynamic Handling (LDH) system.
In terms of design, the RC F Sport comes with the model-specific ‘F’ mesh design, unique 19-inch F Sport mesh alloy wheels which feature machine-finish and dark metallic paint. Three additional colours –White Nova, Orange and Blue- are exclusive to the F Sport model range. The four-seat interior features F Sport perforated leather steering wheel and shift knob, an F Sport-exclusive Rioja Red interior and seats with unique contrast stitching.
As we said, the RC 350 F Sport comes with the Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS), which is able to automatically and independently adjust the performance of the damping at all four wheels. When the vehicle’s SPORT+ drive mode is selected, AVS changes to allow the driver to feel improved body control and precise responses to steering input. Last year, at the 2013 Paris Motor Show, Lexus brought the LF-CC Concept and made quite a buzz in the French capital. Now, a year after the event, the production version of the LF-CC Concept showed up. Dubbed Lexus RC Coupe, the new vehicle looks impressive and will take on the BMW 4-Series Coupe and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe.
The first visual impact with the RC Coupe shows the well-known Lexus spindle grille seen on the other models from the Japanese carmaker, stylish headlights, new taillights which continue the front design as well as an aggressive rear bumper with integrated exhaust system and air diffuser.
The 2014 Lexus RC Coupe has a length of 4,695 mm, a width of 1,840 mm and a height of 1,395 mm, while the wheelbase measures 2,730 mm. We already know that Lexus is working on a new car based on the LF-CC Concept, which was unveiled at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, right? Well, today we found out some more about Lexus’ upcoming coupe. According to Autonews, the new replacement for the IS coupe will be revealed in November at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show and will be called RC.
The Lexus RC will hit the United States dealerships in late 2014 as a 2015 model year. Prototype versions of the new car were already spotted during track testing in Germany and according to unknown sources we do know that the RC will use a 3.5-liter, 306-hp V-6 engine (RC350), same as the IS and GS sedans.
