Limited edition Ford Mustang Iacocca is up for grabs at Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach 2018 sale

Not a lot may have heard of Lee Iacocca, but we are pretty sure that you all know of his creation - and that would be none other than the Ford Mustang. Iacocca was the former Ford executive that turned the former concept into a reality. Not only did he turn the Mustang into production, but he also groomed it into the icon that we know it today.

To celebrate this, Ford and Galpin decided to come up with a special Mustang to celebrate the nameplate’s 45th anniversary. They named the unique version the Iacocca Silver Edition Mustang, and guess what? It will be sold off this April.

The rear wheel drive sports car will be put up for auction at the Barrett Jackson Palm Beach 2018 sale. It will be a rare treat for collectors as this is one of only 45 examples ever built and it comes with a number of unique design and performance elements to boot. This includes a special plaque in the engine bay to signify its rarity.

2018 Ford Focus RS Limited Edition has starting price of $41,995

The current generation of the Ford Focus will be axed next year as the new-generation 2018 Ford Focus RS will take its place, and this is sort of a good news - bad news situation. The bad news is that CarsDirect disclosed that the next-gen 2018 Focus RS is priced from $41,995- an increase of $5,000 compared to its 2017 model. It costs more than a Mustang GT premium and is priced much higher than the 2017 Honda Civic Type R's expected $35,000 price tag. But on a positive note, the extra $5,000 will give you an extremely well-armed RS.

If the disclosed price is in any way true, it will be $5,000 more expensive than the standard price of the current-gen Focus RS which demands only $36,995 (including $875 for destination cost). This sudden increase in price might seem shocking, but this 2018 Ford Focus will be released as a limited-edition model that will be well-equipped for the new model year. The hot hatch will have the RS2 package, which is set as an option on the current model for an added $2,785.

The package flaunts a heated, leather-bound Recaro seats paired with 8-way power adjustment for the driver, heated exterior mirrors and 3-spoke steering wheel and will also have a voice-activated navigation system. There's more, as there will be a carbon-fiber trim meant for door handles, handbrake lever and the bezel found around the boost gauge.

This time, everyone is eagerly awaiting Ford Performance’s limited edition 2018 Ford Focus RS which will be released next year. The said performance compact hatchback will cater to Blue Oval hot hatch enthusiasts’ most requested limited-slip front differential and a new red exterior paintjob. What remains unchanged, however, is its power (still at 350 horsepower) and the most important part of the RS – the drift button which allows its sideways behavior.

Ford made sure that inputs and feedback from customers and fans are used in the creation of this limited-edition RS. Furthermore, Ford invited a group of enthusiasts for a preview of the 2018 Ford Focus RS and even included them in the launch video. Cool, right? 2015 Ford Mustang 50 Year Limited Edition is the present we’ve been waiting for

In order to celebrate the 50th birthday of its most famous nameplate, Ford introduced today the 2015 Mustang 50 Year Limited Edition. Available in either Wimbledon White or Kona Blue colours, the new limited edition is based on the 2015 Ford Mustang GT fastback and according to Ford it offers as standard almost every available option.

Two options are available for the 50 Year Limited Edition: a choice of two exclusive colors and a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. For those who don’t know, the first Mustang, with the serial No. 0001 and a Wimbledon White colour, was sold to Capt. Stanley Tucker in April 1964.

Back in 1960s, the chrome trim was much more prevalent on cars and as a result, the new limited edition features some discreet highlights on the grille, side glass and tri-bar taillamps. Furthermore, the darker Kona Blue shows a striking contrast against the chrome. The chrome bezels that surround the base of each of the three of the taillamp blades are inspired by the original 1962 design proposal by Gale Halderman.

It has been nearly eight years since Toyota entered a new era of sports cars when it officially unveiled the production version of the Toyota 86 – also known as Toyota FT86 or Toyota GT86 – at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show. The Toyota 86 was regarded as a knight in shining armor as it arrived in the market.

There has been a rumor that the Japanese carmaker is planning to follow up the current generation of Toyota 86 – already old as of present – with an all-new model. But the arrival of the Supra means that Toyota won't bother itself with next-gen 86, at least not in the new few years or until 2021. But as to make the car remain relevant, the carmaker is offering a special edition of the sports coupe – the Toyota 86 GT British Green Limited.

The recent big reveal of the open-secret Toyota Supra remains a source of discussion among automotive fans and enthusiasts, especially those of Toyota’s. For these people, the launch of the next-generation Supra was like the arrival of the Messiah. Nevertheless, that doesn’t mean the Toyota 86 would fail to impress, especially if a special edition donning an exclusive suit is currently at offer.

When Ford unveiled its new Ford GT nearly four years ago at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, the supercar was received very well even through the US carmaker only disclosed a few details. When the company started to produce the Ford GT, one thing was very apparent – the demand for the supercar greatly outstrips the supply. Two years into the supercar’s production, Ford is building more units than previously earmarked.

Even before it started production of the Ford GT, the US carmaker had said only 1,000 units of the supercar will be built. Ford had set the annual production pace for the Ford GT at 250 units every year. This means that supercar would have a production run that would last for around four years.

But when the US carmaker started accepting orders for the Ford GT, the total number of applicants quickly grew to more than 6,500. This number was just for the 2016 iteration of the supercar. Unfortunately, Ford can only accommodate 1,000 of the applicants, which means that the Ford GT is practically sold out.

In June this year, rival carmakers Ford and Volkswagen inked a memorandum of agreement for a possible strategic alliance. Months after signing the MoU, automotive industry analysts are now floating the ideas of possible merger or an equity swap between the American and German companies. Nonetheless, Ford is quick enough to quash such ideas even before they get out of hand.

Under the signed MoU, Ford and VW are exploring a number of potential projects in several areas like the development of a range of commercial vehicles together. Likewise, a possible partnership would also work to better serve the evolving needs of customers. The parties have already made it clear back then that the potential alliance wouldn’t involve any equity arrangement.

However, The Detroit Bureau published an analysis that the potential alliance between Ford and VW might go beyond the commercial vehicle market, since doing so could be beneficial for both carmakers. For instance, Ford can benefit from VW’s robust presence not just in Europe, but also in Latin America and China. On the other hand, VW can take advantage of Ford’s strong fortified status in the United States, particular in the pickup and SUV segments.

Ford is giving potential Fiesta customers more reasons to purchase its world-renowned subcompact. Two of these are the introductions of new sporty model based from the ST-Line trim of the Ford Fiesta. New customers can now indulge with the new Ford Fiesta ST-Line Red Edition and the Fiesta ST-Line Black Edition. Ford is now selling the Ford Fiesta ST-Line Red Edition and Fiesta ST-Line Black Edition models in selected markets in Europe.

According to the carmaker, the ST-Line trim accounts for around 20 percent of total Fiesta sales this year. Perhaps the satisfying demand for the ST-Line – which endows the Fiesta a sportier and more dynamic appearance – has led Ford to create two new special editions based on this trim. These new editions – the new Ford Fiesta ST-Line Red Edition and the Fiesta ST-Line Black Edition feature distinctive exterior and interior elements that make them stand out from the rest.

Making full use of Ford Performance-inspired styling, these new Ford Fiesta ST-Line edition models are available in three- and five-door body styles. This engine is mated to a low-friction six-speed manual gearbox.

More and more vehicles are using automatic transmissions to send power from the engine to the wheels. Even supposed sporty cars have been ditching manual transmissions in favor of automatic gearboxes. But the upcoming 2020 Ford Bronco could come fitted with a manual transmission, according to a report by Jalopnik.

Citing a number of sources privy with the plans, Jalopnik reported that Ford is tapping Getrag to develop a new manual gearbox for the 2020 Ford Bronco. The partnership between Ford and Getrag to develop a new manual transmission for the Bronco isn't surprising as the German company is also the one producing the manual gearbox – the MT-82 six-speed unit -- for the Ford Mustang. The new manual transmission for the new Bronco will be named as the MT-88. As per Jalopnik’s sources, this Bronco-bound transmission will be a seven-speed unit that would send power to wheels from Ford’s 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engine.

According to Jalopnik, there is a possibility that the new MT-88 manual transmission share components with the MT-82 manual gearbox. Likewise, Ford may also decide to use the new MT-88 manual transmission for the next generation of the Mustang. Nonetheless, while the current plan has the new MT-88 manual transmission being fitted in the Bronco, the fact that the vehicle is still being developed means things may change as Ford gets closer to the official unveiling of the Bronco.
