The car is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine delivering 345 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque, and mated to a standard six-speed manual gearbox while the Serial Precision Shift automated gearbox is available as an option.
The 2013 Lotus Exige S Roadster is able to hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4 seconds (60 mph I 3.8 seconds), 160 km/h (100 mph) in 8.5 seconds and has a top speed of 233 km/h or 145 mph. Still, the Lotus Exige S Roadster delivers 236 g of CO2 per km.

It was only around three ago when Mercedes-AMG unveiled the AMG GT R Coupe. Now at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, AMG chopped the roof the AMG GT R Coupe and made some necessary revisions. This resulted to the birth of a new AMG GT R model from Mercedes-Benz – the new Mercedes-AMG GT R Roadster.
When the AMG GT R Roadster arrives, the AMG GT family will have 16 members that include five two-door coupes, four roadsters, two customer sports racing cars and five 4-door coupes. But AMG isn't planning to build many as only 750 units are intended to be produced.
Of course, the main difference between the AMG GT R Coupe and AMG GT R Roadster is that the latter has no fixed roof, allowing its occupants to enjoy the thrill of open-air ride. But should they need some protection from the elements, the AMG GT R Roadster is provided with a three-layered fabric soft top. Featuring an inserted acoustic mat that can reduce noise, this soft top is supported by a structure of low weight – thanks to materials such as magnesium, steel and aluminum – which basically help give the AMG GT R Roadster a low center of gravity.Read the entire article Mercedes-AMG GT R takes its roof away as a Roadster at 2019 Geneva Motor Show
It is finally here, a new offering from Automobili Lamborghini that combines the thrill of the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ (Superveloce Jota) and the joy of an open-air drive. After unveiling the coupe version last year in the California, the carmaker has taken the wraps off the new Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Roadster at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show.
It was August 2018 when Automobili Lamborghini unveiled the V12-powered Lamborghini Aventador SVJ in Pebble Beach, California. A week after, speculations suddenly appeared that a roadster version would be coming after the California Air Resources Board (CARB) issued an executive order that certified four Lamborghini Aventador models: S Coupe, S Roadster, SVJ Coupe, and SVJ Roadster. Since, we have been waiting for Lamborghini to formally unveil the Aventador SVJ Roadster. Now, the newest Aventador can be seen in metal in Geneva.
Stefano Domenicali, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Automobili Lamborghini, remarked that the new Aventador SVJ Roadster essentially inherits all the power, performance and innovative aerodynamic technologies of the coupe version but with an added exclusivity of driving in the open air. He added that Aventador SVJ Roadster offers the same extraordinary performance with roof on or off.Read the entire article Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Roadster unveiled at 2019 Geneva Motor Show
The new Audi TT RS – yes, the top version of the German carmaker’s facelifted TT model series – is now officially here. If you could remember, the range-topping TT RS Coupe and Roadster were visually absent when Audi unveiled the facelifted TT model series in July 2018. That got some worried, so Audi is allaying those worries.
As introduced by the brand with the Four Rings, the latest iteration of the Audi TT RS Coupe and Roadster boasts of completely redrawn front end. However, most of us won't be able to distinguish the newest TT RS models from their predecessors right away. It would take discerning eyes – especially those of Audi TT RS fans and enthusiasts – to know how the latest iterations differ visually from the previous model.
For instance, the lateral air intakes on the front bumper are now larger, each divided by vertical strips. In addition, the quattro logo -- in matt titanium-look – is located in the lower part of the gloss black grille that is surrounded by matt black Singleframe. The grille is flanked by LED headlights as standard, or by optional matrix LED units.Read the entire article Facelifted Audi TT RS Coupe and Roadster now available to order
It has been a year since Mercedes-Benz unveiled the Mercedes-AMG Project One at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. So far, there has been no or little update from the German premium carmaker. Nonetheless, Mercedes is expected to unveil the production-ready version as well as the final moniker of the Project One next month at the upcoming 2018 Paris Motor Show.
During the year after the Project One was revealed, there has been rumors that Mercedes is also intending to create two more versions of the hypercar. One of these would be an open-top roadster version and the other would a track-only variant that can’t be legally driven on the road. According to TheSupercarBlog.com, Mercedes was planning to build between five to 10 units of the Project One roadster, as well as between 25 to 50 examples of the track-only version.
Of course, Mercedes really had to look into whether developing two more versions of the AMG Project would bring a good case. These two versions – the Project One roadster and track-only model – were evaluated, but evaluations weren’t so positive for them. TheSupercarBlog.com reported that roadster and track-only versions of the Project One were sent to the trash bin in August.Read the entire article Rumored roadster version of Mercedes-AMG Project One is not coming

With a starting price of around $163,000, the new BMW i8 Roadster (I15) is one of the most expensive offerings on the market from the premium German carmaker carmaker. It is around $20,000 more expensive from its hard-roofed twin, the i8 Coupe. Yet, such a high price doesn’t mean more elements can be added. In fact, renowned German tuner AC Schnitzer have a number of things to offer for the new i8 Roadster.
To sum up the overall effect of these add-ons and to provide clients a good picture of how their BMW i8 Roadster (I15) would like when the extra components have been installed, AC Schnitzer built a sample car. This i8 (I15) by AC Schnitzer looks meaner and more aggressive than a typical i8 Roadster, thanks to the number of added aerodynamic elements, new wheels, lower ride height and a sportier interior.
Finished in white with some black accents, the i8 Roadster (I15) by AC Schnitzer is marked up front with the AC Schnitzer front grille for BMW kidney, which is also known as the hot climate version. Mercedes-Benz decides to surprise us with yet another model in the AMG GT lineup by introducing the new GT S Roadster that is positioned between the regular GT Roadster and the GT C version. The newest model will arrive in the United States later this year.
Similar to the other AMG GT models, the new S Roadster comes equipped with a 4.0 liter biturbo V8 that makes 515 horsepower (384 kilowatts) and 494 pound feet of torque (670 Newton metres). In comparison, the standard GT Roadster has 469 horsepower (350 kilowatts) while the droptop GT C packs 550 horsepower (410 kilowatts). All of these have a seven speed dual clutch gearbox.
The S’ capabilities are very much aligned with that of the C’s, thanks to its powertrain. For instance, the S Roadster requires 3.7 seconds to reach 60 miles per hour (96 kilometers per hour), only 0.1 second slower than its C counterpart, with a rating of 3.6 seconds. The new model can max out at 192 miles per hour (309 kilometers per hour) versus the 196 miles per hour (315 kilometers per hour) of the GT C.Read the entire article 2019 Mercedes-AMG GT S Roadster unveiled to join the already formidable GT lineup
Lotus’ newest model to expand the Exige range had been introduced as the Sport 410, which is going to be positioned between the 350 and the Cup 430. It actually gets some of its features from the latter - from the engine and suspension to its aerodynamics.
What powers the Exige Sport 410 would be the Cup 430’s supercharged 3.5 liter V6 engine, calibrated for it to have a total output of 410 hp (416 PS) and 310 pound feet of torque (420 Newton metres). The 410 also receives the oil cooler and larger clutch from the Cup 430. The engine is mated to a six speed close ration manual transmission that is standard, together with the exposed gear change linkage. The Sport hits 60 miles per hour in only 3.3 seconds, while continuing to the Cup 430’s top speed of 180 miles per hour, in the coupe configuration.
Sport 410 now uses the Cup 430’s chassis, suspension and dampers to the Sport 410. The three way adjustable Nitron dampers had been tuned for the road to meet the car’s aerodynamic demands. Anti-roll bars up front and in the rear are standard too.Read the entire article Lotus Exige Sport 410 takes inspiration from Exige Cup 430
We’re seeing the last days of the Volkswagen Beetle. Sales of its third-generation model have not exactly been positive. But even as the Beetle’s end is impending, it won’t go out without a bang. Memminger, a small German manufacturer, has decided to give the world its version of the iconic car, and the product is absolutely beautiful.
In case you’re not familiar with Memminger, let us give you a few details. It was established in the late 1970s as a steel construction company. The very first time it restored a Beetle was just before the millennium but it eventually turned into their core business. Since then, Memminger has been building, as well as restoring Beetles with the use of the original recipe.
Today, the latest model the manufacturer has built is the Roadster 2.7, a true modern-day Beetle.Read the entire article Memminger’s latest take on the classic VW Beetle is a modern masterpiece
Lotus is not done rolling out special edition models, and one of Jetta’s latest special edition models would be the Exige Cup 430 Type 25 collector’s edition. Customers of this unique model can get the Exige in any colour, as long as it is Lotus Racing Green, or Old English White. What you see in the rendering’s pictures here is the said green finish. As you can see, it has yellow and black accents all over its body - from the hood to the roof, and the fascia, which can be customized depending on what the customer wants. As for the interior, it will also be given the same bespoke detailing, where customers can pick from a variety of options and materials like leather and Alcantara throughout.
What gives the Exige enough power is a 3.5 liter supercharged V6, enabling it to carry out 430 horsepower (320 kilowatts) and 440 pound feet (596 Newton metres) of torque. This is mated to an open gate six speed manual transmission. With these mechanical bits, it makes the Lotus Cup 430 Type 25 one of the quickest cars in its class. It is capable of sprinting from 0-60 miles per hour (96 kilometers per hour) in just 3.2 seconds, before pushing its limit to 180 miles per hour (290 kilometers per hour).Read the entire article There is another special edition Lotus car – the Exige Cup 430 Type 25
The Italdesign Zerouno supercar surprised the 2017 Geneva Motor Show with an aerodynamic carbon fiber body and a race-spec rear wing with a central longitudinal fin. A year later at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, Italdesign Automobili Speciali is unveiling an open-top version of the super coupe – the new Italdesign Zerouno Duerta.
The new Italdesign Zerouno Duerta marks the second chapter of the Automobili Speciali project that was launched in 2017. It all started with the Zerouno exclusive ultra-low series coupes, of which five models sold in a few months after they were presented. The moniker Duerta is derived from ‘duerta’ of Piedmontese dialect that means ‘open’ – referring to the open-top nature of the second Zerouno model.
According to Jorg Astalosch, chief executive of Italdesign, the huge success of the Zerouno coupe was only the beginning. Likewise, the Zerouno Duerta won’t be the last, as the brand Automobili Speciali is all-set to continue beyond this targa-top model. The unveiling of the Zerouno Duerta at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show is a fitting way to celebrate Italdesign's 50th anniversary year while further proving the company’s 'Best is Next' motto.Read the entire article Italdesign Zerouno Duerta combines supercar performance with open-top experience
For those of you who are interested to own one of the BMW i8 Roadsters, be ready to spend some serious cash as the convertible that made its debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show last year will finally arrive in March. And the good news is that this will come with a handful of new features including the E-Copper leather, 20 inch wheels, a head-up display, and heated front seats, and of course, an inflated price tag.
If BMWBlog sources are valid, the BMW i8 Roadster will have a starting price of $163,300, which does not include the $995 destination fee yet. If the automaker ends up selling it for that price, then it will be the most expensive BMW on the market right now. In fact, that makes it $19,900 more expensive than the current i8 coupe that has a price tag of $143,400.
As usual, if you add all the optional features that the automaker can add to it, this model will dig even deeper into your wallets but it also gets much cooler. For instance, adding a set of laser lights for the i8 Roadster will cost you $6,300.Read the entire article Starting price of $163,300 on BMW i8 Roadster makes it the highest priced model now
You probably are still reeling from the memory of having seen the $1.6 million Italdesign Zerouno Coupe last year. If you really wanted one and got disappointed when the coupe sold out in just a few months, you’re in luck as there will soon be a roadster version. The coupe was quite unforgettable. Here’s a brief description of it.
Its body was made with mostly carbon fiber, and under its hood is an Audi sourced 5.2 liter V10 that produces as much as 610 horsepower (449 kilowatts) and 413 pound-feet (560 Newton-metres) of torque. And in 3.2 seconds, it is able to sprint from zero to 60 miles per hour (96 kilometers per hour), before continuing on to hit a top speed of 205 miles per hour (330 kilometers per hour).
If you really wanted to get the Zerouno coupe but missed out, there is nothing to worry about, as Italdesign recently published a sexier, topless version of it. It will make its way to Geneva next month. At one point, the Mercedes-Benz SL was at the peak of the automaker’s lineup, but this model has lost its appeal after the Mercedes introduced newer vehicles like the AMG GT Roadster, with the latter boasting a more interesting style. Because of this, SL sales have decreased over the past few years, and now the company is trying their best to reverse this by developing a new model that will be introduced in 2021.
For a couple of months now, Mercedes-Benz has been quiet about this model. But according to Automobile, this is because the automaker is debating whether or not the next generation model should just transition into an AMG exclusive vehicle. If they decide to push through with this, that will be a huge change for them. However, the publication says that because it will be developed alongside the next-generation AMG GT that is scheduled to come out in 2022, it kind of makes sense too.
The next generation SL will be sportier than its predecessor, which really should not come as a surprise despite its AMG origins. This is because it will adopt an aluminum intensive design, together with a rear wheel steering and active stabilizer bars. Customers will also have an option to add an air suspension and a 4MATIC all-wheel drive system.Read the entire article Mercedes-Benz’ new SL will be developed alongside the next AMG GT
The fourth generation of the world’s best-selling two-seat sports car, the Mazda MX-5, was launched to the global market two years ago as the 2016 Mazda MX-5 (ND). Eco-conscious BMW fans and enthusiasts could now experience a luxurious and comfortable ride with the freedom of open air, without inflicting harm to the environment. Here comes the new 2019 BMW i8 Roadster, as being unveiled by the German premium carmaker at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show.
Tagged by BMW as the sports car of the future, the new i8 is available in two body variants – the new BMW i8 Roadster and new BMW i8 Coupe. While the BMW i8 Roadster and new BMW i8 Coupe plug-in hybrid models -- employing the much-enhanced BMW eDrive technology – are essentially twins, BMW opted to globally unveil only the open-top version at the 2017 LA Auto Show.
The new BMW i8 Roadster is underpinned by the distinct LifeDrive vehicle architecture and heavily influenced by the BMW i form language. It features a number of model-specific body strengthening elements. It comes with gullwing doors employing the signature lightweight construction of BMW i models. Even its windscreen frame is made from carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP). Meanwhile the all-electric soft-top cover could be opened or closed with just a press of a button in only 15 seconds up to speeds of 50 km/h.Read the entire article BMW redefines luxurious open-top driving with new i8 Roadster plug-in hybrid
As 2017 comes to a close, for sure, many of you are eager to learn what’s in store next year. If Rimac Automobili hasn’t been in your radar, we’re here to tell you that it should be. Have you heard what Rimac has been up to lately?
In case you didn’t know, this is the company that brought us the Concept One. Well, Autoguide has reported earlier that Rimac is hinting of coming out with its own electric roadster. If that plan pushes through, chances are high that Rimac’s electric hypercar could outrun the Tesla Roadster --- both on the road and with regards to the pace of production.
It’s easy to make this conclusion. After all, Rimac’s incredibly powerful Concept One coupe packs an awesome output of 1224hp (918kW) and 1180 (2548 Nm) on tap. It makes sense that the “soon-to-become-Rimac convertible” will be more potent (or at least as powerful) as the preceding coupe version, right?Read the entire article Rimac Automobili might become Tesla’s closest rival by 2018
Have you ever thought about whether Aston Martin would come out with a convertible version of its new 2018 Vantage? At this juncture, no one really knows what the future holds for this model. But we can always hope. Fortunately, there are artists who have the same desire. We all but gasped at what Nikita Aksyonov wants for a possible Aston Martin Vantage Roadster.
It was just the other day when the automaker released the coupe, and already, we have a rendering of it here. And one thing we would say is that the rendered roadster looks just like the coupe, which is a great thing. Aksyonov did not give it a fixed roof, but instead, it will be getting a hard rear deck with a cowled tonneau cover, similar to that of the outgoing Vantage Roadster.
So far, Aston Martin has not mentioned anything about the convertible, when it comes to its release date. However, it took the automaker quite some time (around a year and a half) to follow the new DB11 coupe with the DB11 Volante convertible. So if there will be an actual roadster comes to the market in the near future, we are guessing that it will not be the only variant of the new Vantage, and that there will be others to follow.Read the entire article 2018 Aston Martin Vantage rendered as a roadster looks amazing
Lamborghini recently introduced the Aventador S Roadster just over a month ago at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. And already, the V12 powered convertible is going to receive a special edition treatment. The 400 GT model was created to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the raging bulls, and it will only be limited to five cars. Each one of the Japan edition models will be one-offs since the Ad Personam department and the Cento Stile both gave them unique looks that take inspiration from the five natural elements of Japanese culture: earth, wind, fire, water and sky.
The one you can see in the photos, from its official unveiling in Japan, is the “water” edition. On the same day, the Italian marque also came up with the second edition of the Lamborghini Day Concours d’Elegance Tokyo. In this event, Lamborghini displayed a total of 50 cars. A few of the notable models included here are the gorgeous Miura, the Diablo and Countach. Alongside these were vehicles like the restored Miura SV and a 1976 Countach LP. And guess who won the “Best of Show” award? Well, it was the Countach LP. During the event, the automaker also presented scale models of the other four cars based on the remaining elements that will soon be produced.
Let us not veer away from talking about the gorgeous Aventador S Roadster. The exterior livery was finished by a team of ten specialists by around 170 hours. The paint turns out with a nice finish that contrasts with the exposed carbon fiber that is used for the hardtop and the windscreen frame. There is also a ‘50 Japan’ badge near the vehicle’s rear fender.Read the entire article Special edition Japan-exclusive Lamborghini Aventador S Roadster 50th Anniversary unveiled
