To pay tribute to Hiromu Naruse (the chief test driver who recently died in a road accident near the Nurburgring while testing a Lexus LFA), Toyota is creating a front-engined, rear-drive model - Naruse's pet project. For this new model, Toyota will transform a hot hatch concept into a low-cost, rear-wheel-drive coupe.
Based on the GRMN Hot Hatch Concept, this new model was unveiled at the Tokyo Auto Salon at the start of 2010. It is engineered to have less expensive performance and appeal than the FT-86, which has been delayed and has had its price inflated ever since it was approved for production.
In an interview, Hiromu Naruse was asked what his young engineers sought to build. He replied, "A car that is a blast to drive and rear-wheel drive. Toyota sports car fans and enthusiasts are getting excited about the possibility that the Japanese carmaker would be releasing a new Toyota GR 86 and a new Toyota Yaris GR 86. This comes after Toyota filed an application to trademark the GR 86 and GR Yaris with the European Trademark and Design Network.
The trademark filing for the GR 86 and the GR Yaris names was made with the Swiss trademark office on September 18, 2018. However, the European Trademark and Design Network hasn’t approved Toyota’s registration application as of this writing.

In announcement just before the 2018 Goodwood Festival of Speed, Toyota disclosed that all-new Toyota Supra will stay faithful to its heritage by featuring an in-line, front-mounted six-cylinder engine as well as a rear-wheel drive system. China is considered as the largest auto market in the world, and Japanese carmaker Toyota Motor Corporation isn't letting go of title. Aside from its conventionally powered products, Toyota is accelerating its China-based vehicle electrification efforts by launching 10 new electrified vehicles in the country by the end of the decade.
Leading the charge for Toyota are the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) versions of the Corolla and Levin passenger cars in 2019. To show its commitment, Toyota unveiled the Corolla PHEV and the Levin PHEV at the 2018 Beijing Auto Show. According to the carmaker, both the Corolla PHEV and the Levin PHEV expected to achieve an electric driving range of 50 km or farther. Production of these two new PHEV models is seen to commence in China in 2019.
Toyota launched the conventional hybrid variants of the Corolla and Levin in 2017, with production done domestically. Toyota recently surprised many with a restored 1965 Toyota Sports 800 that is regarded as the automaker’s oldest race car in existence. This model finished second in the 1966 Suzuka 500 km.
The standard version of the Toyota 800 was the automaker’s very first sports car. At Suzuka, four race spec cars were entered as they claimed a one-two, and the Toyota 800 was one of them. This particular model, with chassis 10007, made it in second place, with Mitsuo Tamura behind the wheel.

Slowly, bits and pieces about the much anticipated 2019 Supra have come out. Gerald Killmann, Vice President of Research & Development recently spoke about the much awaited revival of the sports car during his interview with AutoRAI, covering a number of topics about the Supra. One thing they learned is that the new Toyota Supra has been developed mostly in Japan, and that Toyota’s European R&D team had a minor contribution. He then said that the Supra will be sharing the same platform as the BMW Z4, though with a different interior and exterior design. But what really caught our attention during his interview was when he said that the model will be powered by a BMW-sourced engine, though he did not get into more details regarding this. The Toyota Corolla iM, once offered in the United States under the name Scion iM, is a compact five door model that the Japanese automaker decided to give a new name for the next generation - the 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback. This model essentially is a North American version of the Euro-spec Auris that made an appearance at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show.
When being compared to the model it replaces, the car has been elongated by 1.5 inches, now being 172 inches long. Toyota recently published a teaser with the title “The Legend Returns.” It’s not a secret as we already know that they are referring to none other than the Toyota Supra. For the longest time, Toyota enthusiasts anticipated the time that they will see the Supra, and finally, the automaker announced on social media, their media website and to email boxes around the world that it will arrive at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, describing it as a “modern racing concept” that they will bring back to the market.

Toyota’s big plan for the 2018 Chicago Auto Show was to reveal their updated and more powerful 2019 TRD Pro lineup of off road ready models. These models consist of the 4Runner, Tacoma and the Tundra. One of the upgrades here is the 2.5 inch internal bypass shock absorbers from Fox. Customers can get any of the three models in shades like Midnight Black Metallic, Super White or the exclusive Voodoo Blue.
The Fox shocks are initially soft, but they become stiffer as the piston moves through it. The oil increases volume for better damping during hard driving - thanks to the external reservoirs. Dust boots, on the other hand, protect parts from debris.
First up is the 2019 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro that got suspension upgrades for when the road gets rough. The front part is raised by an inch, because of the spring, and there’s a larger front sway bar for easier handling. Important mechanical parts are protected by the skid plates that also give the TRD a better style. A set of 16 inch wheels was added and was finished in black. At the upcoming 2018 Geneva Motor Show this March 6, Toyota plans to take the covers off its all new Supra. But here is one thing you need to know, the car will not come with a Toyota badge, but instead, will be branded under Gazoo. No less than Shigeki Tomoyama, who heads the sub-brand, told AutoExpress that “the Supra will be a Gazoo”.
For those customers who are interested in the Gazoo Supra, note that this will be available in four states of tune. It will have various power levels, suspension tunes, and equipment. First of all, the entry level model will be called just a Supra, while the higher trims, it will have a GR and a GR Sport following its name. Lastly, the range-topping model will be called the Supra GRMN.

The next-generation Toyota Avalon has been refreshed but it still sticks to its purpose of offering generous space, while being stylish and functional. In fact, the Avalon offers quite a bit more than the Camry. The best part is that the 2019 model year will have more horsepower and improved fuel efficiency.
The 2019 Avalon has changed in terms of size; it is now longer, wider, and lower. The wheelbase has increased by 2.0 inches, while its length grew by 0.7 inch. Automakers that have teamed up with Formula 1, like Mercedes-AMG, develop the coolest road-going supercars just like the Project One. Aston Martin and Red Bull, on the other hand, have their own Valkyrie supercar. Well, it seems like Toyota is next in line, as they bank on their expertise in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) to develop what they call the GR Super Sport. This may just be a concept for now, however, Akio Toyoda, Toyota’s president, expressed his intentions towards developing a production hybrid supercar.
So what can we expect from the GR Super Sport Concept? First of all, it seems like it was inspired by Toyota’s LMP1 models, not just when looking at it from the outside, but also when studying what’s under the hood. The automaker even confirms this by saying that it was built very similarly as the TS050 Hybrid, so we could consider it to be the perfect race car for the road.
Under the hood of this concept is a 2.4 liter biturbo V6 engine, which is paired with a battery considering the fact that it is a hybrid model. Overall, it can produce as much as 986 horsepower (735 kilowatts) when speaking of output, or should I say 1,000 PS. The GR Super Sport Concept sits on a set of 18 inch wheels, wrapped in matching 330/710 R18 tires. It comes with two exhaust tips mounted up in the back where the rear window can usually be found. This concept does not have side mirrors of conventional glass, but instead, gets a pair of cameras for the driver to see what’s behind.
