Bentley Bentayga Field Sports Edition by Mulliner is the most luxurious hunting car out there

We’re willing to bet that the Bentley Bentayga is not the first thing that comes to mind for most people who are into off-roading and outdoor activities. It just doesn’t have that kind of reputation; also, it has a whopping price tag of $229,000.

Well, regardless of what your reasons are for hesitating on purchasing one, the automaker, together with Mulliner, has built an outstanding vehicle that you would want in your garage. Both companies have joined forces to fit a Field Sports accessory kit to the luxurious SUV, and this optional kit includes everything you need for the ultimate hunting car, believe it or not.

The British automaker and aforementioned Mulliner got custom gun manufacturer Purdey to work with them. So Purdey designed storage in the cargo area as an added feature. But what makes this so special is the large sliding unit that comes with several compartments capable of carrying supplies that the passenger will require – ranging from a first aid kit to some extra ammunition. Of course, the storage is not just like any basic storage out there, as it has been finished in the finest, authentic handcrafted materials to make sure that it is still luxurious.

Land Rover will produce new flagship model to rival Bentley Bentayga, Rolls-Royce Cullinan

The uber-luxurious sports utility vehicle market is definitely growing quickly, Bentley has its own Bentayga and Rolls-Royce is now prepping the Cullinan. And now, it seems that Land Rover wants a piece of the action by possibly expanding their lineup with a SUV that will sit on top of the current range topper, the Range Rover SV Autobiography.

The juicy details are not really that crystal clear at this point in time due to the fact that it is still a question mark if the Land Rover "SUV" will be a completely different model or just another luxurious trim for the Range Rover. By far, the most expensive and premium Land Rover model was the Range Rover Holland and Holland, which costs around £180,000 in United Kingdom and $244,500 in United States.

Unfortunately, the SUV is no longer available as it was only released for a limited time only. The Tata Motors-owned company does not have a vehicle to rival the Bentley Bentayga as of the moment, but this could possibly change in the following years as this uber-premium range topper is being planned. Furthermore, a Mercedes-Maybach marked SUV will supposedly be produced in the next years to come.

Confirmed: Bentley will offer plugin hybrids for every model

Bentley once again confirmed its plans to push PHEV into their future lineups. As a matter of fact, the Bentayga SUV will be the first to have the plugin hybrid technology, which will also be using a V6 engine. Next on the line would be none other than the new generation Bentley Continental GT. And there’s more to come.

During a recent press interview with Automotive News, Wolfgang Duerheimer reiterated the fact that plugin hybrids no longer serve as “temporary bridge technology”. Instead, it now offers the best features of both cars with internal combustion engine as well as those of electric powered vehicles.

The CEO also considers the fact that the upcoming plugin variants would be their answer to the consumers who want to use their cars to go to places where gasoline and diesel engines would no longer be allowed.

For almost a century, Bentley has been one of the leading luxury motorcar manufacturers. It has always prided itself for producing hand-built luxury vehicles that have been given a lot of time and effort by their resident designers, craftsmen and engineers. In terms of putting together technology and timeless elegance, Bentley is already an expert of this field. Its production and manufacturing houses create some of the world’s most classic and expensive cars, some of which have served high-profile personalities like Queen Elizabeth.

Last year, Bentley introduced to the world an SUV that was beyond all others of its kind. The Bentley Bentayga is a classic offering into the realm of SUVs, living proof that not all SUVs are the stereotypical soccer mom service vehicle. What most of us do not know is that there is more to the Bentayga than meets the eye, more than its authoritarian exterior or even the 600 horsepower under its hood.

The name “Bentayga” is a combination of the company founder’s name and the Taiga, a biome that is typically found in the northern hemisphere.

After four years of blood, sweat and tears, the Bentley Bentayga is now poised to take the world by storm. It all began four years ago with one amazing idea that led to the creation of a bold and dominant masterpiece.

Ploughing their largest capital investment into any model to date, Bentley has left nothing to compromise with the Bentayga. An eye-blinking £840 million was invested, 1,500 new jobs were created, and the assembly line at Crewe has certainly been given the all-star treatment.

With deliveries commencing in January 2016, SUV customers will not be disappointed. Appreciating the prowess of this powerful machine, Wolfgang Durheimer, Chairman and CEO of Bentley Motors said that the Bentley Bentayga will be the “benchmark” for the new luxury SUV segment and will be proof of how strongly committed the company is to creating jobs and investing in this country, specifically at its Crewe home.

Today, we know that celebrity-owned cars aren’t really the most affordable second hand models we could get. But at the same, there are a lot of fans out there who are willing to do anything to get up close with their idols, and for some of them, that means spending more. Wouldn’t you want to buy a car once raced or driven by Michael Fassbender? Well, if you could afford it, why not?

In fact, many celebrity-owned cars have been put up for sale before, including Daniel Craig’s one-off Aston Martin Vanquish. There’s also Elvis Presley’s 1971 Mercedes Benz 280SEL. That’s not all. Even Russia’s leader Putin’s 1995 Mercedes Benz S Class S600 Pullman Guard was once up for sale with a $1,351,740 price tag. We assume this had been purchased already since the ad for it is gone.

But at the time of this writing, there is one high-profile car that really caught our attention. This car had been owned by reigning Formula 1 champion, Lewis Hamilton. It is a 2015 Mercedes-Maybach S600 luxury sedan and its ad is currently up on British used cars listings site, autotrader.co.uk.

For those of you who have extremely high standards, the Mercedes-Benz S Class may not be opulent enough for you. And this is the reason why the automaker decided to make the high class sedan a notch more luxurious with its Maybach variant. This model will make an appearance at next month’s 2018 Geneva Motor Show, before it goes on sale in the United States in the late summer of 2018.

What makes this variant stand out from its siblings would be the new grille that uses vertical slats, instead of the regular horizontal ones. On the lower fascia, you will find a metallic trim that gives the vehicle a flashier look.

The most prominent change here, however, would be the car’s profile. The 2019 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class now measures 215 inches (5,461 millimeters) long, while riding on a 132.5 inch (3,365.5 mm) wheelbase. This is a whopping 10 inches (254mm) increase than even the long-wheelbase S-Class Sedan. Having said that, passengers should have a lot more leg room in the cabin.

The Bentley Bentayga is set to participate in the famous Pikes Peak International Hill Climb that is slated to take place on June 24th in Colorado.

The automaker’s motorsport department is currently working on improving the vehicle’s performance. For it to succeed, the 600 horsepower SUV will have to go through the 12.42-mile (19.98 kilometers) hill climb with a total of 156 corners, as fast as it can. In fact, it will have to be faster than all the other SUVs joining. Vehicles that will participate in Pikes Peak will have to climb 4,720 feet all the way to the finish line at the mountain’s summit of 14,115 feet.

Brian Gush, motorsport executive, said that since the Bentley Bentayga was released, the luxury SUV has set the benchmark for vehicles - thanks to the balance it has achieved in terms of bespoke British craftsmanship, performance, and grand touring ability.

The very first time we ever saw Bentley’s SUV, the Bentayga, was back in September 2015 when it came out with the impressive W12 engine. A year after that, it shifted to a different powertrain, which was the Audi SQ7’s biturbo 4.0 liter V8 TDI for the diesel powered engine. Today, it decides to spice up their range even more by coming up with a V8 version, but this time with a 4.0 liter gasoline engine that works with a pair of turbochargers.

The new powertrain produces as much as 542 horsepower (404 kilowatts) and 568 pound-feet (770 Newton-metres) of torque, which is the same as the Cayenne Turbo and the Porsche Panamera. In only 4.5 seconds, the SUV’s new engine propels the vehicle to reach 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) from a standstill, and it has a top speed of 180 miles per hour (290 kilometers per hour). That makes the W12 variant just a little bit quicker in the sprint and with a better maximum velocity.

The rear wheel drive comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission from ZF, where 60 percent of the torque is sent to the rear axle. It is not like the Bentayga market really cares, but the V8 gasoline version only uses up 11.4 liters for every 100 kilometers in the combined cycle, returning 20.6 miles per gallon in the US (24.8 mpg in UK). The new gas engine is definitely more economical than the W12. When fully loaded, it can run for as far as 464 miles (746 kilometers).

There had been speculations that the Bentley Bentayga will soon have a hybrid powertrain that will be added to its engine lineup. And recently, the automaker confirmed this matter. So expect to see the SUV with a PHEV variant at the upcoming 2018 Geneva Motor Show in early March this year.

Under the Bentley Bentayga’s hood will be an engine that is similar to that of the Porsche Panamera E-Hybrid. It will be equipped with a 2.9 liter V6 that will be paired to an electric motor so it can produce a total output of about 462 horsepower (345 kilowatts). Expect the Bentayga to have a similar range as the Panamera, capable of reaching 30 miles (48 kilometers) on purely electric energy.

Currently, the Bentley Bentayga offers a 6.0 liter W12 biturbo and a 4.0 liter V8 biturbo diesel, which the new PHEV version will join. This version will go on sale in the second quarter of 2018. We should mention though that the automaker is confident that that it will be the best selling option in the United States market.

Today, buyers of the sought after Bentley Bentayga can get the vehicle with either a 6.0 liter biturbo W12 or a 4.0 liter diesel fueled V8, with an electrically driven supercharger and two turbos.

Auto Motor und Sport, a German publication however stated that the automaker will soon offer a gas-fueled V8 to the range in July next year. We are currently taking this statement as a rumour now because the publication did not share any details regarding their source.

If the rumour is true, then it would probably be the Volkwagen Group’s 4.0 liter biturbo engine in the Porsche Cayenne that will be installed into the Bentayga. That said engine produces as much as 550 horsepower (410 kilowatts) and 568 pound-feet (770 Newton metres) of torque. The Lamborghini Urus actually comes equipped with the same engine, but produces 650 horsepower (484 kilowatts) and 627 pound-feet (850 Newton-metres) of torque instead. All the said models sit on the same MLB platform, and that being said, it shouldn’t be a problem for Bentley’s engineers to fit the engine in.

The Toyota Century’s design may look like it is a little behind our generation, which has caused a rift among customers, but that’s what makes the Century what it is. In fact, there are some people who love this model because of its retro design, as it truly stands out from most full size luxury sedans from the current generation. Too bad for fans outside Japan, the third-generation Century will only be exclusive to the Japanese market, but we are hoping that the next generation makes its way out of its homeland.

Why are we hoping for this all of a sudden? Well, during the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show, Top Gear UK was able to interview a Toyota spokesperson, and it was revealed that the automaker is actually keen on bringing the Japan-exclusive Century to other countries - though they did not specify which ones. It will also depend on the demand it has, of course. That’s definitely good news for those who have always wanted a Century in their garage. But we should not be too excited as this has not been confirmed yet, and is currently just a consideration being made. The automaker’s goal is to sell around 600 units annually in Japan. And with that being said, figures should be significantly lower in other regions where the car is not as well known.

But honestly speaking, we think that the Century may not do as well in Europe and the United States compared to its home country. Who would pay a fortune for a 2018 model year Century, when you are in a country dominated by the German trio, namely the S-Class, 7 Series, and the A8, as well as the Lexus LS?

As the gift-giving season approaches, Neiman Marcus wants to relieve some of the buyers’ anxiety by releasing its holiday season’s shopping catalogue. Yes, it’s that time of the year once again and while the Halloween parties have not even started yet, the very posh department store wants to make sure that this early, the filthy rich people have their minds made up on the two special items from its catalogue. After all, who wouldn’t want to get a Rolls-Royce Dawn for a present?

If love means to give and take, Neiman Marcus is offering two bespoke Rolls-Royce Dawn this season--- one “for him” and one “for her” (or “yours and mine” to be exact). The 2017 look book is basically a showcase of gift ideas for the coming holidays. It also happens to be its 91st edition. With a design that featured the “Saint Tropez Dawn” and the “Lago di Como Dawn”, both Rolls Royce and Neiman are able to brilliantly display this year’s most special gifts on the wish list.

To tell the difference, the Saint Tropez’s exterior features an orange shade while Lago di Como is in the shade of blue. The “orangey” Saint Tropez’s interior is a mixture of open pore Canadel wood, seashell leather and shades of chocolate and bright oranges. The Coniston blue convertible meanwhile comes with dark brushed metal dashboard trims instead of wood. Its interior mostly consists of Selby grey and black leather, but then both cars will be featuring silver bonnets and silver top fabrics.

Genesis, Hyundai’s luxury brand, recently launched the 2018 Genesis G70 to go against German models like the BMW 3 Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and Audi A4. But while its rivals offer their models in wagon variants, Hyundai doesn’t have a G70 wagon variant. This is because some customers just prefer to have a little more space for their junk. To keep up with the competition, Genesis might need to have a long roof variant of its own. But how would it look? X-Tomi Design helps us imagine it.

The current G70’s design features a flowing roof that goes all the way to its sporty rear, including an integrated upward kink towards the edge of the trunk. X-Tomi Design’s rendering retains its original shape, but stretches it a little creating a longer line and some extra space in the rear. The rear end now gets a spoiler to keep its performance-oriented appearance.

At this moment, Genesis offers three options of the G70 at launch in South Korea, and they have not given any details regarding the US-spec model. The Korean version’s base trim has a 2.0 liter turbocharged four-cylinder that carries out 248 horsepower (185 kilowatts), and with the Performance Package, 251 horsepower (187 kilowatts) and 260 pound-feet (353 Newton-metres) of torque. Another option is the 2.2 liter four-cylinder turbodiesel with 200 horsepower (149 kilowatts). And for the range topping trim, you’ll get a 3.3 liter turbocharged V6 that produces as much as 365 horsepower (272 kilowatts) and 376 pound-feet (510 Nm) of torque. Customers can either opt for a rear wheel drive or an all-wheel drive.

When an auto manufacturer as large as Jaguar Land Rover has already filled its coffers, and has the backing of one of the largest conglomerates in the world, it could be time for it to expand its reach beyond its current scope. According to Automotive News Europe, citing people privy with the matter, Jaguar Land Rover is eyeing certain acquisitions that might advance its capabilities and offerings down the road.

As reported, the British carmaker owned by Tata Motors – or ultimately by the Tata Group -- is holding internal discussions over acquiring other luxury brands to further diversify its vehicle range. Hoping to acquire international carmakers, Jaguar Land Rover might soon find itself producing and selling another luxury brand. However, Jaguar Land Rover would only be acquiring a luxury brand that would fit its current portfolio, one of the sources told Automotive News Europe.

Likewise, the British carmaker might acquire a tech company that could boost its capabilities in the fields of electrified vehicles and autonomous driving systems, another source told Automotive News Europe. Currently, the brands under Jaguar Land Rover don’t offer any electric vehicle or even a plug-in hybrid unit. That ends next year when Jaguar Land Rover finally introduces the fully electric Jaguar I-PACE, with the carmaker already receiving 25,000 orders for the new EV. Earlier this month though, Jaguar Land Rover announced that it will go green starting 2020 – all of its new vehicles would only be electric or hybrid models by the turn of the decade. Acquiring a tech company with expertise on this field would surely confirm Jaguar Land Rover’s go-green commitment.

A lot of people have been wondering what is that on the Genesis G70’s grille. One really would not notice such a thing from afar, but if you get up close and personal, then you would see something planted on the center of its grille.

Well, experts say that this is a front-mounted radar that works with the driver assist system that the G70 features. This new technology features adaptive cruise control, emergency automatic braking, frontal collision warning and such. A number of automakers have this technology installed on the front end of their cars, but so far, not many of them have great results, but we have yet to see how it works on the Genesis G70.

As mentioned earlier, the front-mounted radar has not performed as well as automakers and customers expected it to. For instance, Hyundai, Genesis’ mother company used the same technology for its mid-size Sonata sedan - and this might be the worst mistake they have ever made.
