McLaren already replaced the MP4-12C with the all-new 650S but for those who own one, DMC revealed the Velocita Wind Edition. Set to take the MP4-12C to a new level, the new Velocita Wind Edition you see in the photos is actually owned by a Saudi Arabian and was spotted on the French Riviera.
As you can see, the vehicle is heavily modified and comes with a new front bumper with new canards, a front lip spoiler, new side skirts, a new rear spoiler as well as a new rear air diffuser. Moreover, there is a new titanium exhaust system.
The new customization programme takes its name from the new roof-mounted scoop and from the new rear wing. For those who don’t know, the standard McLaren MP4-12C is powered by a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that generates 616 hp and can push the vehicle from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.1 seconds and to 200 km/h (200 mph) in 8.8 seconds.Read the entire article DMC Velocita Wind Edition based on McLaren MP4-12C
The McLaren 12C (formerly known as the MP4-12C) has been on the market for a while now, as it was unveiled in September 2009 and went on sale in mid-2011. Back in March, McLaren launched the 650S Coupe and Spider, a vehicle that featured a front end inspired by the awesome P1 hypercar, while the rear end was “borrowed” from the 12C.
And the inevitable happened as McLaren announced the existing owners of the 12C that the company will cease production of 12C in light of the success of the 650S. Still, this isn’t the end o the 12C because Mclaren is offering the current owners a free Technology Upgrade program. Available from June, this program will offer a new Active Aero software for the Airbrake that will make it ‘sense’ different driving scenarios.
According to McLaren, the software will improve stability when lifting off the throttle or cresting a hill. Moreover, the program will include a DRS (Drag Reduction System) mode which lowers the wing when driving at high speeds in a straight line, in order to improve aerodynamics.Read the entire article McLaren ceases 12C production but offers free Technology Upgrade program
It appears that the Ferrari 458 Speciale what was unveiled back in September at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show made quite an impression and the news that the production of this vehicle is already sold out for this year convinced other carmakers to follow the same strategy. As a result, McLaren will offer an enhanced version of the MP4-12C that will deliver better on-road performance, exceeding that of the Ferrari 458 Speciale.
According to Autocar, McLaren declined to make any comment on this story, but an unknown source told the British magazine that the new vehicle will be based on the same carbonfibre Monocell as the 12C while the 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 engine will be tuned to about 650 hp.
As expected, the new McLaren will have a slightly different design than the standard 12C and will take more styling influences from the range-topping McLaren P1 hybrid hypercar. Moreover, the interior will also be upgraded. Regarding the Ferrari 458 Speciale, this model is powered by a 4.5-liter V8 engine rated at 605 hp and 540 Nm (398 lb-ft) of torque.Read the entire article McLaren plans on a hardcore version of the 12C to take on Ferrari 458 Speciale

Based on the rate at which the Neiman Marcus Christmas Book cars were sold, we know that the cool factor of the new 2013 McLaren 12C Spider is higher than a Jaguar XJL but it isn’t cooler than a Ferrari FF, a Chevrolet Camaro Convertible or a Bmw 7-Series. It took less than two hours to sell out the new McLaren.
The Ferrari FF last year sold out in 50 minutes while the Chevrolet Camaro Convertible sold out in 2010 in just three minutes. To put it into perspective, there were only 10 Ferraris offered so it’s quite impressive that 100 Camaros sold out in a ridiculously short amount of time. For this year, there were only twelve 2013 12C Spiders available. This meant that one 12C Spider was sold every 10 minutes.
Buyers of the Neiman Marcus 12C will also be some of the first Spider owners in the U.S. Neiman Marcus said that these cars are likely to arrive by Christmas, while all other 12C Spiders are scheduled to arrive around the start of 2013. McLaren was the exclusive automotive partner of the Neiman Marcus Christmas Book this year.Read the entire article Neiman Marcus McLaren MP4-12C Spider sold out in just two hours

The new race car making unit of the McLaren Group, McLaren GT, is showcasing a track-focused concept at the Pebble Beach Concours. The 12C Can-Am Edition marks the debut of a 12C racing variant outside Europe. The carmaker gave the 12C Can-Am Edition a McLaren Orange finish, as homage to the cars of Bruce McLaren and Denny Hulme that met extraordinary success throughout the 1960s and 1970s.
The McLaren Orange finish is in sharp contrast to the roof, door and bumper sections, which are finished in satin black. 12C Can-Am Edition also features carbon fibre side radiator vanes, wing mirrors and engine cover.
McLaren badges on the front and rear of the 12C Can-Am Edition are also finished in carbon fibre. The 12C Can-Am Edition is underpinned by the same carbon fibre MonoCell chassis that supports the conventional 12C road car. Since the 12C Can-Am Edition is just a pure concept, designed as the ‘ultimate track car’ and despite being based on the 12C GT3 race car, it is not subject to any regular racing regulations.Read the entire article McLaren GT will show 12C Can-Am Edition Concept at Pebble Beach

The fact that 40% of the MP4-12C units that McLaren has produced were bought in the U.S. is a surprise. But more so to McLaren Automotive boss Antony Sheriff who had warned the company that it might not do so well in the U.S. As of February, McLaren had built 1,000 units of the MP4-12C. Sheriff knows quite a bit about the issue since he has been working in Europe for numerous years.
He was born in the U.S. and grew up there, later getting engineering and economics from Swarthmore College before starting his career as a product planner for Chrysler in 1987. At the Geneva show, he revealed that as a kid, his friends in the U.S. didn’t know McLaren and would certainly never wake up at 6 am to watch Formula 1 with him on ESPN.
Most of the racing fans weren’t too crazy about the sport and would engage in it during the weekend or would just go to a few IndyCar races. He also said that the popularity of the Bruce and Denny show has passed by then. He was referring to Can-Am series of the late ’60s founded by Bruce McLaren and Denis Hulme, who made the thundering orange McLaren M8 sports racers legendary.Read the entire article 40% of the MP4-12C units that McLaren has produced sold in the U.S.
