It was only around three ago when Mercedes-AMG unveiled the AMG GT R Coupe. Now at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, AMG chopped the roof the AMG GT R Coupe and made some necessary revisions. This resulted to the birth of a new AMG GT R model from Mercedes-Benz – the new Mercedes-AMG GT R Roadster.
When the AMG GT R Roadster arrives, the AMG GT family will have 16 members that include five two-door coupes, four roadsters, two customer sports racing cars and five 4-door coupes. But AMG isn't planning to build many as only 750 units are intended to be produced.
Of course, the main difference between the AMG GT R Coupe and AMG GT R Roadster is that the latter has no fixed roof, allowing its occupants to enjoy the thrill of open-air ride. But should they need some protection from the elements, the AMG GT R Roadster is provided with a three-layered fabric soft top. Mercedes-Benz decides to surprise us with yet another model in the AMG GT lineup by introducing the new GT S Roadster that is positioned between the regular GT Roadster and the GT C version. The newest model will arrive in the United States later this year.
Similar to the other AMG GT models, the new S Roadster comes equipped with a 4.0 liter biturbo V8 that makes 515 horsepower (384 kilowatts) and 494 pound feet of torque (670 Newton metres). In comparison, the standard GT Roadster has 469 horsepower (350 kilowatts) while the droptop GT C packs 550 horsepower (410 kilowatts). All of these have a seven speed dual clutch gearbox.
The S’ capabilities are very much aligned with that of the C’s, thanks to its powertrain. For instance, the S Roadster requires 3.7 seconds to reach 60 miles per hour (96 kilometers per hour), only 0.1 second slower than its C counterpart, with a rating of 3.6 seconds. Mercedes-Benz has revealed the pricing for its Mercedes-AMG GT starting with the Coupe at £98,195 and the Mercedes-AMG GT R Coupe at £143,245. In the middle is the Roadster priced at £110,145, followed by the S Coupe at £111,495, and the C Roadster with £139,445.
The roofs on the Roadster and the C Roadster can come in a three-layer fabric with the choice to have it in dark red, beige, or black. This particular detail is available at no additional cost to the customer. What is exciting about this roof is that it can be closed or opened within 11 seconds. This operation is even possible despite the vehicle running at a maximum of 31 mph.
While the entire GT range is fitted with the biturbo 4.0-liter engine, the one in the Roadster variant offers an output of 476 hp, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 4.0 seconds. The new Audi TT RS – yes, the top version of the German carmaker’s facelifted TT model series – is now officially here. If you could remember, the range-topping TT RS Coupe and Roadster were visually absent when Audi unveiled the facelifted TT model series in July 2018. As introduced by the brand with the Four Rings, the latest iteration of the Audi TT RS Coupe and Roadster boasts of completely redrawn front end. However, most of us won't be able to distinguish the newest TT RS models from their predecessors right away. It would take discerning eyes – especially those of Audi TT RS fans and enthusiasts – to know how the latest iterations differ visually from the previous model.
For instance, the lateral air intakes on the front bumper are now larger, each divided by vertical strips. In terms of performance, the Mercedes-AMG GT – whether in its base or R version -- already packs a good punch. Nonetheless, several tuning companies have already created their own version of the AMG GT, and they all managed to create a greater monster out of the "Beast of the Green Hell." Now, it is the turn of Fostla, a tuning firm from Germany, to show off its own formula of steroids for the AMG GT.
First off, Fostla saw it fit to make the AMG GT look meaner on the road. This entails the fitment of a number of aftermarket parts and components. The 3.0-liter 6-cylinder in-line engine serving the AMG GT 43 4MATIC+ is tuned to deliver up to 270 kW (367 hp) of output and up to 500 Nm of torque available between 1,000 rpm and 4,500 rpm. This power level allows the AMG GT 43 4MATIC+ to sprint from nil to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds and achieve a top speed of 270 km/h. It has been a year since Mercedes-Benz unveiled the Mercedes-AMG Project One at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. So far, there has been no or little update from the German premium carmaker. Nonetheless, Mercedes is expected to unveil the production-ready version as well as the final moniker of the Project One next month at the upcoming 2018 Paris Motor Show.
During the year after the Project One was revealed, there has been rumors that Mercedes is also intending to create two more versions of the hypercar. The new 2019 BMW Z4 Roadster has now been unveiled to the global public at the world renowned Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, the same place where BMW first revealed the BMZ Concept Z4 in 2017. The latest generation of the Roadster was unveiled in all glory in the form of the all-new 2019 BMW Z4 M40i First Edition.
The sporty yet elegant proportions of the all-new BMW Z4 quickly betray its dynamic and sporting potential as achieved through a central sitting position for the driver, a perfect 50:50 axle load distribution, compact wheelbase, wide tracks and low center of gravity. It looks is defined by the BMW kidney grille with a mesh design and flanked by vertically stacked headlights. The looks of the latest BMW Roadster is also defined by long clamshell hood extending over the front wheels, large air breathers on the front wheel arches as well as by a characteristic spoiler integrated into the rear lid.

With a starting price of around $163,000, the new BMW i8 Roadster (I15) is one of the most expensive offerings on the market from the premium German carmaker carmaker. It is around $20,000 more expensive from its hard-roofed twin, the i8 Coupe. Yet, such a high price doesn’t mean more elements can be added. In fact, renowned German tuner AC Schnitzer have a number of things to offer for the new i8 Roadster.
To sum up the overall effect of these add-ons and to provide clients a good picture of how their BMW i8 Roadster (I15) would like when the extra components have been installed, AC Schnitzer built a sample car. If The Hulk were to be a car, what would it be? Well, you might want to check out this Mercedes-AMG GT R that is just as green and powerful as the angry monster. But before we get to that, let us first talk about the standard Mercedes-AMG GT which is available in a handful of variations. Another year means another Formula 1 season. And soon, the 2018 season will kick off this weekend with the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne. This year marks the 23rd consecutive year and Mercedes Benz, again will provide the Safety Car for the most important motorsport event. Since 1996, Mercedes-Benz had been the supplier of the event’s safety car, from way back when it was the C36 AMG, to the Mercedes-AMG GT R today - this might be the most powerful F1 Safety Car of all time.
Under its hood is a biturbo 4.0 liter V8 engine that enables the car to carry out 577 horsepower. During the 2015 to 2017 seasons, the GT R just follows the lesser GT S version. Also, it will be Bernd Maylander who will be behind the wheel of F1’s official Safety Car.

Mercedes-AMG GT fans and enthusiasts got really excited when the carmaker unveiled the AMG GT Concept a year ago in Geneva. This four-door coupe concept was meant to preview a production version that blends a coupe design with sedan practicality. A year later at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, the performance brand has taken the wraps off that production model – the new 2019 Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe.
The excitement buildup before the big reveal was real, and the new AMG GT 4-Door Coupe didn’t disappoint. It was the model that people had been expecting but it managed to go beyond expectations. For instance, the new AMG GT 4-Door Coupe looks nearly the same as the AMG GT Concept. There are some differences in styling, of course, but in the end, the resemblance isn't surprising, as both models follow the design philosophy of Sensual Purity.
AMG reinterpreted the striking proportions and muscular body, as well as the sensuous shapes and convex surfaces of AMG GT Coupe to a stunning effect fitting for a four-door version of the high-performance car. The Italdesign Zerouno supercar surprised the 2017 Geneva Motor Show with an aerodynamic carbon fiber body and a race-spec rear wing with a central longitudinal fin. A year later at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, Italdesign Automobili Speciali is unveiling an open-top version of the super coupe – the new Italdesign Zerouno Duerta.
The new Italdesign Zerouno Duerta marks the second chapter of the Automobili Speciali project that was launched in 2017. It all started with the Zerouno exclusive ultra-low series coupes, of which five models sold in a few months after they were presented. The moniker Duerta is derived from ‘duerta’ of Piedmontese dialect that means ‘open’ – referring to the open-top nature of the second Zerouno model.
According to Jorg Astalosch, chief executive of Italdesign, the huge success of the Zerouno coupe was only the beginning. Likewise, the Zerouno Duerta won’t be the last, as the brand Automobili Speciali is all-set to continue beyond this targa-top model. For those of you who are interested to own one of the BMW i8 Roadsters, be ready to spend some serious cash as the convertible that made its debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show last year will finally arrive in March. And the good news is that this will come with a handful of new features including the E-Copper leather, 20 inch wheels, a head-up display, and heated front seats, and of course, an inflated price tag.
If BMWBlog sources are valid, the BMW i8 Roadster will have a starting price of $163,300, which does not include the $995 destination fee yet. If the automaker ends up selling it for that price, then it will be the most expensive BMW on the market right now. In fact, that makes it $19,900 more expensive than the current i8 coupe that has a price tag of $143,400.
As usual, if you add all the optional features that the automaker can add to it, this model will dig even deeper into your wallets but it also gets much cooler. You probably are still reeling from the memory of having seen the $1.6 million Italdesign Zerouno Coupe last year. If you really wanted one and got disappointed when the coupe sold out in just a few months, you’re in luck as there will soon be a roadster version. The coupe was quite unforgettable. Here’s a brief description of it.
Its body was made with mostly carbon fiber, and under its hood is an Audi sourced 5.2 liter V10 that produces as much as 610 horsepower (449 kilowatts) and 413 pound-feet (560 Newton-metres) of torque. And in 3.2 seconds, it is able to sprint from zero to 60 miles per hour (96 kilometers per hour), before continuing on to hit a top speed of 205 miles per hour (330 kilometers per hour).
If you really wanted to get the Zerouno coupe but missed out, there is nothing to worry about, as Italdesign recently published a sexier, topless version of it. It will make its way to Geneva next month.
