Carlex Design transforms the Mercedes-Benz X-Class into the beastly Exy 6x6 Concept

Carlex Design isn't a beginner with regards to tuning the Mercedes-Benz X-Class. In fact, it has even created a version with Maybach-like appearance and features. It has also created Off-Road-focused and Urban-tailored versions. Now, Carlex Design seems to be not contented with how far it has gone with the X-Class and is now presenting a new concept design for the luxury SUV from Mercedes.

Indeed, the Mercedes-Benz X-Class represents the luxury side of pickup trucks. While offering a drive that is comparable to a sports utility vehicle, the X-Class also delivers a smooth, comfortable ride that is expected of luxurious vehicles. Furthermore, it is laden with features usually found in premium cars. But at Carlex Design, the X-Class can be turned into luxurious 6x6 beast off the road. This can be well seen on the new X-Class Exy 6x6 Concept by Carlex Design.

The X-Class Exy 6x6 Concept is essentially the X-Class evolved into a whole new luxurious beast. It is much different from Carlex Design’s previous re-imaginations of Mercedes’ luxury pickup. The concept pickup has six wheels – two wheels more than a standard X-Class and previous Carlex Design X-Class creations. This also meant an extra axle on the rear section of this X-Class 6x6. The addition of two wheels naturally resulted to an extended bed, allowing this conversion of the X-Class to load and carry a greater volume of cargo.

Futuristic Mercedes-Benz Vision EQ Silver Arrow pays tribute to record-setting W125

For the past years, Mercedes-Benz has been unveiling spectacular concepts or visions. There were the AMG Vision GT and the Concept IAA, as well as the Vision Maybach 6 and the Vision Maybach 6 Cabriolet. Its latest concept, unveiled at the Monterey Car Week, is likewise nothing short of stunning while showing off the carmaker’s glorious past. This concept is the new Mercedes-Benz Vision EQ Silver Arrow.

Just by looking at this concept, people can’t help but associate with Mercedes’ Grand Prix racing cars in the 1930s. During this period, Mercedes cars were called Silver Arrows. Actually, the new Vision EQ Silver Arrow is inspired by and pays tribute to the 1937 Mercedes W125 Grand Prix racing car. Driven by the legendary Rudolf Caracciola, the W125 set a new speed record on public roads in 1937 after averaging 432.7 km/h (268.8 mph) on the A5 autobahn between Frankfurt and Darmstadt. This record sat untouched for around 80 years, until it was broken in November 2017.

Just like the 1937 W125, the Vision EQ Silver Arrow features a long and extended front section and short front overhang. The round cockpit glazing of the Vision EQ Silver Arrow -- modeled on a drop of water in terms of outline and cross-section – was also inspired by the W125. Similar to the Silver Arrows, this one-seater concept is wrapped in alubeam silver paint.

Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury is opulence visualized in a crossover

The Maybach sub-brand has already come to characterize utmost exclusivity among luxury vehicles. Thus, if Maybach unveils an all-new concept with “ultimate luxury” as part of its moniker, it would only be dutiful to take a peek at this new study. As not to disappoint, a new concept vehicle dubbed as “Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury” has just been unveiled by the sub-brand at the Auto China 2018 in Beijing.

As its name indicates, the new Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury represents how the sub-brand views the future of ultimate luxury, as packed in a shape of a premium crossover. Measuring 5,260 mm in length, 2,110 mm in width and 1,764 mm in height, the Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury is practically a luxurious electric car powered by four compact permanent-magnet synchronous motors for a fully variable all-wheel drive configuration.

Total output is pegged at 750 hp (550 kW), with energy derived from a flat underfloor battery with a capacity of around 80 kWh. This battery allows the concept to travel more than 500 km as per NEDC, or over 200 miles as per EPA. The study has an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h.

Leaked Images: Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury electric SUV concept

As we all know, the newest Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury will be officially revealed on April 25. However, even before its actual premiere, images of the said model had already been leaked on the internet. As you can see here, the same images were posted on CarNewsChina. Take note that these are actually the official shots of the new Vision Mercedes Maybach Ultimate Luxury. Some describe this SUV as a sedan with a tall roof and a lot of ground clearance provided by the jacked up suspension.

In fact, Mercedes refers to this as an SUV saloon that will meet the requirements of affluent Chinese buyers who are vital in the success of super luxury car sales worldwide. It obviously has similarities to rival models like the Bentley Bentayga and the upcoming Rolls Royce Cullinan.

As expected, it still gets the aforementioned “bold new grille”, which doesn’t differ from the vertical slats of the facelifted Mercedes Maybach S Class and the much longer Pullman version. In the back is a retro-like split window layout. Nevertheless, we still think that the design on the previous Vision concept looks better. We’re referring to the Vision Mercedes Maybach 6 from two years ago.

Mercedes-Benz has been planning on extending their full lineup of electric cars, and this time, it is the new EQ A Concept that they have just unveiled for a futuristic three-door hatchback. As seen at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, the EQ A is even smaller than the Vision EQ ForTwo Concept that is great for future car-sharing fleets.

Similar to other Mercedes-Benz EQ concepts, the EQ A has a smooth, rounded shape. It is slightly different with its round nose with short overhangs that lead to a steeply raked windshield and flowing roof that goes over the hatch. Overall, it definitely looks like it has come from the future.

New upgrades had been added to the EQ A such as high-tech bits and pieces. For instance, it was designed with an adaptive grille instead of the conventional ones we often see, and this even reflects the car's driving modes. For instance, when on Sport mode, the grille draws a horizontal blue line to indicate this. On Sport Plus mode, the image on the Panamericana grille switches to vertical red slats instead. How cool is that?

Just like any other automaker that aims to debut its most exciting models at 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, Mercedes-Benz seeks to tickle everyone’s imagination. It has now given us a teaser of the EQ A Concept, just a few days after teasing us with the Project One hypercar. During this month’s motor show, Mercedes-Benz will showcase the Project One together with models with the EQ nameplate. The “EQ” name was patented back in 2016, the same year that we saw the Generation EQ at Paris.

The Mercedes-Benz EQ A Concept, as you can see in the photo, is like a minimized version of the larger EQ - an electric hatchback. Also, the EQ A looks a lot closer to production compared to the SUV concept that we saw before it. It’s not like we have seen all angles of the vehicle in the photos, but we can kind of tell. So far, the EQ A’s headlights, grille, and diffuser look like something that you will see in a production car. The one thing that we may not see in on is the LED strip around the grille.

Since this is just a teaser, of course Mercedes-Benz will share with us very limited information about it as well. One thing we know for sure that has been confirmed is that it will be a “small electric vehicle”, which will most likely be a hatchback. During the upcoming motor show, the updated EQ (which is also larger) will join the EQ A as it goes on stage. Both models will feature similar designs and proportions, and may possibly even share the same platform.

A few months ago, Mercedes-Benz promised that they will be treating everyone to a “big surprise” during the Monterey Car Week. And true enough, many of us were stunned as they unveiled the all electric Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 Cabriolet convertible version of the hardtop model that made its debut at Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance last year.

Just like an art piece, this model is no doubt a head turner just like its predecessor. The Vision 6 Cabriolet stretches out to nineteen feet in length, and it sits on 24-inch wheels. Its hood appears extra long, while the tail tapers uniquely to a certain point. The front fascia gets a huge grille finished in chrome, which contrasts with the slim headlights. Mercedes actually refers to the rear end as a “boat tail”, complementing the Nautical Blue Metallic name for the exterior finish.

The Vision 6 Cabriolet’s interior completely stands out from the exterior. The two-seater cabin is finished in a clean white interior with silver accents - from the seats, the dashboard, to the steering wheel. The center console gets a wing-like “flowing” design that is given an ambient blue lighting around the elements, as well as the door panels. The illuminated dots around the seats all have tiny backlit Mercedes logos.

Sometime last year at the Chateau de Chantilly located 50 km northeast of Paris, rare automobiles from different parts of the world gathered to flaunt their premium looks. The longest coupe in the world, the Mercedes-Maybach Vision 6 caught the eyes of many present at the Concours d'Elegance. It was a sight to behold. The exquisite coupe was presented for us to see into the future of luxury cars. The brand certainly outdid itself as it created a truly breathtaking study – the Mercedes-Maybach ECHO concept, a supercar that can take on the road as early as the year 2030.

Since the aforementioned Vision 6 Luxury Coupe design concept was made to showcase the future of premium hypercars, then a self-driving Maybach concept is just as timely as the coupe. The concept drawing came from the creative hands of design expert Hawan Park, who managed to create a car that features both futuristic as well as class, while also deducing how the visionary vehicle's wooden structure aids to disperse sound. Wood is the top material of choice for the interior akin to concert halls that possess unique mechanical and acoustic features.

This characteristic is the reason why wood is frequently utilized to build musical instruments. The 1.38meter-high car is shown with an interior covered in fine wood and other high-end materials. Furthermore, the ECHO concept will also flaunt a lot of novelties that include an awesome hologram projector that is located in the front of the cockpit, the gull-wing doors, and a flexible seat suspension. Aesthetically, the hypercar can certainly fit in a sci-fi movie with its elongated hood and millimetre clearance from the ground, and the fact that one is sitting so far away from the front adds a bad-ass touch.

Mercedes-AMG’s much hyped Project One will inevitably turn up at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show this September. But knowing how excruciating it is to wait for something as good as this, Yicheng Fan, a Behance designer, rendered his own concept of a Mercedes-Benz hypercar.

Embodying the simplistic approach on the German marque’s most legendary models, Fan has rendered an astonishing concept that you wouldn’t mind placing next to the hottest supercars of today’s generation.

The first thing we’ve noticed in Fan’s concept creation is the vehicle’s domineering front fascia with long windshield design. This elongated windshield blends flawlessly along the hood and bumper at the front for a very smooth finish. Some other startling elements such as the massive air intakes, tiny headlights as well as the front grille with floating three-pointed star emblem are also executed with exceptional taste.

BMW will be on the lookout starting now, as its "i" division will be going head to head with rivals in the coming days. According to a report from Autocar, Mercedes-Benz will soon bring some heat as it is geared to unveil an all new electric hatch concept at this year's Frankfurt auto show.

At the last year's Paris Motor Show, Mercedes-Benz dropped hints about its newly conceived "EQ" sub-brand with a namesake concept that will take the shape of a pure electric crossover. The primary EQ model called the EQ C SUV was revealed in concept camouflage as a part of a public debut for the German automaker's electric car EQ sub brand.

For 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, the German automaker is working on the next concept that will not feature a combustion engine. And at this time, it will be a hatchback to represent the German automaker's purpose of rolling out a solid threat for the likes of the BMW i3 and Volkswagen's production variant of the I.D. concept. Autocar also further reported that the said hatch will be considered Mercedes' main model for the EQ lineup, which will have no less than 10 variants by the middle of the next decade.

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show a new design study of the next compact premium sedan – the new Mercedes-Benz Concept A Sedan.

Could we expect a new premium performance vehicle from Mercedes-AMG that would compete directly against the Porsche Panamera? If Autocar’s sources are to be believed, Mercedes-AMG would soon unveil a concept version of the much rumored Mercedes-AMG GT4 performance luxury four-door sedan at the upcoming 2017 Geneva Motor Show in March.

This design study will preview Mercedes-AMG’s new GT4 offering, serving as the main attraction at Mercedes-Benz’s booth at the Geneva Motor Show. The unveiling of the AMG GT4 Concept would form part of the German premium carmaker’s 50th anniversary celebration this year. According to Autocar, the production version of the AMG GT4 would be launched next year (2018) in Europe. It would be pitted against the likes of the Panamera of Porsche, the 6 Series Gran Coupé of BMW and the A7 and RS7 of Audi. Once it achieves its final form, the AMG GT4 would become the performance brand’s third dedicated series production model line, after the AMG SLS and the current AMG GT. It is said to be the replacement for the CLS Shooting Brake.

Tobias Moers, chief executive of Mercedes-AMG, cryptically indicated in January that the Mercedes-AMG GT4 could be really coming. Moers was answering several questions from automotive Web site Motoring when he gave an ambiguous declaration about the performance sedan – saying that speculations of an upcoming AMG GT4 are not necessarily wrong. This tells us that at least some of the rumored details are true.

The Mercedes-Benz W196 is considered as one of the most iconic racing cars. As a Formula One entry, it dominated the event in two full seasons. Such success prompted Mercedes-Benz to produce a “Type Monza” streamliner closed-wheel aluminum version of the W196.

Such a valuable icon is worthy of praises and commendations. In fact, the Mercedes W196 was so valuable that its most coveted form – the one driven by world champion Juan Manuel Fangio at two F1 championships – was sold for a whopping $30 million at the Bonhams Goodwood Festival of Speed Sale in 2013. This earned the Mercedes W196 the title of the most valuable motor vehicle ever sold at an auction.

Thus, it wouldn’t be surprising if a design study or a concept of a futuristic Mercedes W196 suddenly appears. And it did appear -- in the guise of a project work by young automotive designer from South Korea, Minwoong Im. Mingwoong dubbed his design project as the Mercedes-Benz 2040 W196R Streamliner.

The previous year has introduced a lot of new overhauls in the compact car segment not just for Mercedes but also for other major players in the car industry. In addition to the new overhauls, Mercedes-Benz’s “Aesthetics A” unveiled its new design sculpture for the upcoming A-Class sedan models. The teasers show how the new design philosophy incorporates fewer lines and creases as if everything else have gone back to the basic element of style.

Judging from the side profile, the concept saloon has a smoother and more distinct singular shape unlike anything we’ve seen before. Gorden Wagener, Chief Design Officer for Mercedes Benz, says that with its sensual surface design, the upcoming generation of the compact class has the potential to herald a “new design era.” This is probably what he meant with the new “Sensual Purity” design language that has almost completely gotten rid of the “sharp creases” and instead replaced it with more “sensual lines” for a flawless finish. We’ve also noticed it to be taking some of the newly updated AMG GT design cues particularly on the vertical slats along the front grille.

Rumors imply that there will also be an all-new four door model in the lineup destined for its North American consumers. In relation to this, the company is also considering a long wheelbase, 7-seater crossover bound for its Chinese market--- but maybe we’ll find out for sure about that at the 2017 Auto Shanghai this coming April.

It is not uncommon for companies in the automotive world to revive a certain nameplate, especially if it has earned some iconic or legendary status or if it has gained some historical prominence. For instance, Porsche revived the 911R from the 1960s and the 718 from the 1950s. Ferrari brought back the Tdf nameplate from a special model designed to compete in the Tour de France auto race. Lincoln also revived the Continental nameplate while MINI gave a new lease on life to the Seven nameplate – as a special edition model – which is the very first MINI launched in 1959.

What about the Mercedes-Benz 540K? Well, there have been no signs that Mercedes is willing to revive this nameplate. However, there could be “secret” discussions about reviving the Mercedes 540K within the German premium carmaker. So far, there have been no substantial reports yet. But we believe that with enough support from customers, the Mercedes 540K could come back to life.

What is exciting about the Mercedes 540K? Designed by Friedrich Geiger and produced completely between 1936 and 1944, the Mercedes 540K is offered as a two-seater cabriolet, four seater coupé and a seven seater limousine. Its name was derived from the displacement of its engine, a 5,401-cc straight-8 powerplant as aspirated by twin pressurized updraft carburetors for 115 hp (86 kW) of output. Interestingly, a Roots supercharger was employed that could momentarily increase power to 180 hp (130 kW) of output with a top speed of 170 km/h (110 mph).

Many have been anticipating Mercedes-Benz Vans’ newest luxury pickup truck, the X-Class. While Mercedes-Benz has yet to reveal the official production version of the X-Class, it was kind enough to provide a good glimpse of the new pickup with the Concept X-Class in Stockholm.

The new X-Class pickup should allow Mercedes-Benz Vans to expand its lineup with a fourth model series and become the first premium carmaker to enter the mid-size pickup segment when it is launched into the market in late 2017.

By the time of the launch, Daimler AG plans to invest high nine figures (in Euro) in the new model series. Mercedes-Benz Vans plans to introduce the new midsize pickup in key markets, like Argentina, Australia Brazil, Europe, New Zealand and South Africa.

Electric vehicles are not generally known for speed but Mercedes‑Benz hopes that with its Generation EQ which was introduced at the 2016 Paris Motor Show, electric cars will eventually have a place in the fast lane. Inside it are two electric motors. Since the elements of the batteries are scalable, it ensures a system output being raised to as much as 300 kW.

Meanwhile the permanent all-wheel drive assures that dynamic performance is at its highest level. Indeed, having a look similar to a sporty SUV coupé, this concept car does give customers a glimpse of what new battery-electric drives can offer.

There are various lighting elements placed inside the middle and side air vents, below the windscreen, interior door panels, door handles, and seats. There are even lighting elements on the center console and even surrounding the Mercedes star on its steering wheel. What is interesting about this lighting is that once the driver is near the vehicle, the system immediately activates in order to welcome the driver through a specific color mood inside.

Mercedes-Benz Vans, one of the world’s top van makers, has just launched adVANce, which is their strategic transport industry initiative for the future. With this, the division analytically considers its customers’ evolving requirements. A year ago we were introduced to Mercedes-Benz’ F015 Luxury in Motion self-driving concept car. Although the German automaker is not on the forefront of the self-driving car revolution, it has been developing its own technologies to be able to catch up in the self-driving car development race.

Now, Mercedes-Benz is back with an all-new concept car. Officially introduced at the Monterey Car Week festivities at Pebble Beach, the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 concept car exudes timeless elegance that will make people look back and reminisce the streamlined exterior designs of the 1930s. The concept car takes on inspiration like that on pre-war Bugattis and Talbot-Lagos. Its classic styling perfectly fits into place with all other vehicles that are being displayed at the Concours d’Elegance at the Pebble Beach.

The whole concept of the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 concept car is a combination of “sensual purity” and “aerodynamic efficiency” -- concepts that Daimler AG design lead Gorden Wagener hopes to project to its audience. The car itself is a mixture of some sizzling “emotional design” with some “intelligent details” to balance out the flavors of the Vision 6.
