2018 Mercedes-Benz V-Class Night Edition model gets AMG upgrades

Mercedes-Benz has been working on refreshing its people-hauling V-Class, which has racked up more than 100,000 deliveries since 2014. But before the new model finally goes on sale sometime next year, the German automaker is giving the current model one last special edition to keep customers interested.

It is called the V-Class Night Edition and it comes with a handful of improvements care of the AMG department. But don’t get too excited because they aren’t doing any improvements to the engine. Power comes from the automaker’s familiar 2.1 liter turbodiesel engine with 190 horsepower (140 kilowatts) and 325 pound-feet (440 Newton metres) of torque. According to Mercedes, the average fuel consumption is between 6.8 and 7.5 liters per 100 kilometers, or 34.6-31.4 miles per gallon with CO2 emissions of 179-199 grams per kilometer.

2017 Mercedes-AMG Coupe 4Matic+ Yellow Night Edition costs $237,688

Last month at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, we witnessed the debut of the refreshed S-Class Coupe and Cabriolet. And finally, Mercedes-Benz has begun taking orders of these models in Europe, and deliveries will begin in January next year. But apart from that, we got another surprise from Mercedes-AMG as they revealed a limited S63 Coupe 4Matic+ Yellow Night Edition. And this unique model will only be available for six months, with a starting price of 202,121.50 euros ($237,688).

The automaker did not just come up with random names for these models, and the reason why it has the word “night” in its name is because customers can get the version of the S63 Coupe finished in either Selenite Grey Magno or Night Black Magno. The “yellow” in its name, on the other hand, refers to the yellow trims it will get on the mirror housings and the brake calipers. The S63 Coupe then gets a set of seven set double-spoke black wheels.

Obviously, this is more than just the paint job. The Yellow Night Edition was designed with the Aerodynamics Package that comes with a larger front splitter and lip spoiler on the trunk. The aerodynamic parts are finished in high-gloss black, but customers can get the Carbon Fiber Package if they prefer these parts to be made of carbon fiber. The coupe also gets a set of stripes that stretch along the lower edges on both sides of the car.

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class has been around for quite some time now but to bid it farewell, the company has launched the Mercedes-AMG G65 Final Edition. Mercedes will only build a total of 65 examples of the Final Edition, which will be sold worldwide. And each of them will come with a price tag of 310,233 euros (around $368,000).

To make it look exclusive and high-end, the SUVs will feature bronze accents on the exterior - from the 21 inch wheels, the bumpers, front grille surround, mirrors, to the center section of the spare wheel cover at the back. Both sides of the body get a high-gloss black trim in the protective strips, and the grille up front now gets a black mesh center.

Inside the Final Edition’s cabin are a number of upscale features like the black nappa leather that covers the seats, and the carbon-fiber-like finish for the seat bolsters. To give it some contrast while keeping it looking high-end, Mercedes gave the diamond quilted center sections bronze stitching. Furthermore, there is a light brown weave that highlights the carbon-fiber trim throughout the interior. Heated and ventilated seats will ensure the comfort of passengers when the climate changes.

As the rivalry between Volvo and Range Rover’s premium SUVs continue, Mercedes-Benz throws in the new GLS Grand Edition, a new trim option for its flagship three-row SUV model. The Grand Edition Euro-spec sport utility vehicle will be featuring brand new interior and exterior packages available for the GLS 350d, 400 and 500. The list consists of 20-inch alloys, several choices of colors for the body paint and a choice for leather lined interior.

To help draw the line between the standard GLS and this new level trim, Mercedes will be adding special GLS Grand Edition badges within the front end of the SUV. This will be placed next to the front wheel arches or on the side of the wings. The German marque will only make this available in Europe which will cost about $3,001 for the exterior and another $7,764 for the interior using the current exchange rates. In Germany, each package will be sold at €2,300 and € 5,950 respectively.

Nevertheless, the upgraded version will be offered with high end premium features such as the trim-exclusive porcelain and espresso brown cabin color motif and posh nappa leather seats with diamond quilt design and brown stitching. Mercedes-Benz will release more premium edition variants of its latest models that are closely based on the same concept of the SLC RedArt and SL design Edition. The car in question is the new GLE Coupe OrangeArt Edition which offers a model-specific upgrade.

In a bid to attract more consumers, the German marque will be offering its pseudo SUV-coupe with the premium edition treatment. The new variant is offered in a couple of black shades as well as in white, gray or silver hues. But what is eye-catching is that the Coupe can be aesthetically known for its orange accents of the rim flange and front apron.

Various eye-catchers in Orange lend the coupe a sporty look, and with its striking contrast, they give the vehicle a stylish vibe. Bernd Schneider, record DTM champion and AMG brand ambassador, has immersed himself personally into the project, and even had the privilege – along with an AMG engine fitter -- of installing the powerful AMG 6.3-liter V8 engine in the SLS AMG GT3 45th Anniversary, which is basically a race edition of Mercedes-AMG’s Gullwing.

This ultra-exclusive customer sport racer is a personalization of the brand’s triumphant AMG Customer Sports Program that has already earned 32 wins in the 2012 Motor Sports Season. The program has already won three driver and team titles in the FIA GT3 European Championship, the ADAC GT Masters and the FIA GT1 World Championship.

To distinguish the SLS AMG GT3 45th Anniversary edition from a typical SLS AMG GT3, AMG had implemented an array of exterior and interior modifications. For instance, AMG wrapped the body of the SLS AMG GT3 45th Anniversary in the new designo magno graphite matt paint finish. This exclusive paintwork was only available on the SL65 AMG 45th Anniversary, which was unfurled at the New York International Auto Show in April 2012 also to Mercedes-AMG’s commemorate AMG’s 45th birthday. Now, this paintwork has found its way on the special race version of the Gullwing, as complemented by AMG light-alloy wheels in designo magno graphite.
