Back in 2013 was when the first hot hatch was released, that was the original A45 by Mercedes-AMG, carrying a hand-built 2.0 liter M133 turbo mill. It was then then most powerful series production four-cylinder in the world, producing 360 horsepower. And ever since then, a power war had begun.
Just a year later, Audi released its RS3 with its 2.5 liter five-cylinder turbo, yielding 367 horsepower, taking the A45’s spotlight. But soon enough, Mercedes-Benz took its crown back with its upgraded 2015 A45, with 381 horses.
Audi Sport and AMG has been competing with one another for the past years, trying to create the craziest hot hatch. Currently, it is the Audi RS3 Sedan with 400 horsepower that reigns.Read the entire article Mercedes-AMG confirms that the next A45 will have over 400 hp
The Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG was introduced back in February 2013 and made quite a buzz with its 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine that generates 360 hp (265 kW) and 450 Nm of torque. Using a seven-speed AMG SpeedShift DCT transmission, the A45 AMG accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.6 seconds, while top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph or 250 km/h.
Still, GAD Motors considered that these numbers are not enough for the German hot hatch and as a result it remapped the ECU of the engine and boosted the 2.0-liter engine to an impressive 430 hp (316 kW) and 550 Nm of torque.
Thanks to the new improvements, the A45 AMG tuned by GAD Motors is able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.1 seconds and to 200 km/h (124 mph) in 14.3 seconds (-3 seconds over the standard vehicle).Read the entire article Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG gets 430 hp from GAD Motors

The upcoming A45 AMG will make its global debut at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. It would be exactly one year after standard versions of Mercedes-Benz’s new A-class was first unveiled. Mercedes-Benz’s AMG off-shoot said that this marks its first entry into the hot hatch market in Europe where it will go up against the BMW M135i.
Mercedes-Benz officials said that sales of its right hand drive models in the UK will begin in July 2013. AMG hasn’t released the pricing details yet but Autocar said that the A45 AMG will sell for about £36,000, with an optional performance package expected to add £3000 more. AMG engine boss Fritz Eichler developed the new turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder direct injection petrol engine that’s used to power AMG’s first ever hatchback.
The new unit uses the codename M132. It is based on the M274 engine of parent company Mercedes-Benz with the same capacity used in the newly launched A250 CGI. The transversely mounted engine runs a twin scroll turbocharger with a maximum 1.8 bar of boost pressure. The automaker claims that when used on the A45 AMG, it boasts an output of 349bhp at 6600rpm along with 332lb ft of torque.Read the entire article Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG to make its global debut at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show
AMG, the high-performance arm of Mercedes-Benz, is relying on the new hot A-class to hit its target of raising sales by 50% over the next five years. Presently, AMG sells around 20,000 global units but it hopes to increase the number to 30,000 on its 50th anniversary in 2017. Considered as a key to this plan is the A45 AMG -- the new 330bhp, four-wheel-drive flagship A-class. This is the first of three compact AMG offerings that will be based on Mercedes’ A-class and B-class models. To sum it up, the AMG range will have eight or nine new offerings that are included in a model strategy dubbed AMG Performance 50.
For now, the C-class AMG models make up around 20-25% of AMG’s total sales. However, the company believes that the A45 mega-hatch and other two small cars will later make up around 20%. The A45 AMG will be competing with the RS3 from Audi and the M135i from BMW. According to AMG officials, the A45 underwent dry-weather testing around the Nürburgring Nordschleife where it did better than the RS3 and did the same as the M135i.
But during rain, the four-wheel drive system of the Merc model made it perform better than both. The A45 AMG’s official performance figures weren’t released yet but expect it to have an output of 325-330bhp and a maximum torque higher than 295lb ft. It’s believed to have a peak torque of more or less 4300rpm but about 90% will be available from 1500rpm. A newly designed Recaro bucket front seat will go on the A45 AMG. This seat will later be used throughout the AMG product line. It will also get a redesigned double-blade front grille that will set the styling tone for the cars in the future.Read the entire article AMG relying on the A45 to boost its sales
Strapped for cash but don’t want to let go of your Mercedes-Benz dream? Then you would be glad to know that the Mercedes A45 AMG – its most affordable performance model yet – will go on sale in early 2013. The first series production AMG model will be competing with the Audi RS3 and BMW M135i. This hatchback is positioned at the top of the new third-generation A-class range.
No confirmation has been given for its pricing yet but it’s likely to cost from about £32,000 in the UK. It has a transversely mounted engine and it uses a heavily tuned version of Mercedes-Benz’s turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol unit that’s used in the standard A250 Sport, which will go on sale in the UK by the end of this year.
It features a specially built free flow cylinder head and unique induction system as well as a series of other revisions that boost its power. It’s believed that the M270 Evo designated unit will offer 330bhp and have a maximum torque that’s considerably higher than 295lb ft.Read the entire article Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG: first details and specs revealed
A new, 276bhp Audi S3 will be launched this September at the Paris Motor Show. It competes with the other hot hatch units in Europe with a boost in its premium-brand performance. This newest model from Audi’s S-badged line-up was previewed in an artist impression.
The S3 has a price tag of around £32,000 and will arrive at UK showrooms early next year. Its closest rivals would be the £30,000 BMW M135i hatchback announced last week and the Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG that will be featured with the S3 at Paris. Audi had hoped to equip the new all-wheel-drive S3 with a detuned version of the 2.5-litre five-pot engine of the RS3 Sportback.
What happened instead is that the S3 will use a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine that will be used in an entire host of other Volkswagen Group models because of its compatibility with the new modular MQB platform.Read the entire article New Audi S3 to take on Bmw M135i and the Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG
