The winner of the 2012 DTM season opener at Hockenheim is British driver Gary Paffett (Thomas Sabo Mercedes AMG C-Coupé). He was ranked sixth on the grid but he then took a 4.7- second lead on Jamie Green (Mercedes AMG C-Coupé). This is the 18th win of Paffett in the DTM. It’s also his fourth victory at Hockenheim.

Throughout Paffett’s career, this would be his 26th podium in the 82nd DTM race and his seventh in a DTM race at Hockenheim. Paffett’s 18 wins and a 22% winning rate mean that he has the highest number of wins among the drivers that are competing at the DTM. This is Paffett and Green’s 100th one-two victory for Mercedes-Benz in the DTM since 1988. This is the sixth straight win of Mercedes at the home race in Hockenheim (opener and finale).

This is the automaker’s third consecutive win of DTM season opener (Paffett 2010 and 2012, and Bruno Spengler, 2011). Since 1988, Mercedes-Benz has racked up 32 overall wins of 65 DTM races at the Hockenheimring. In this same period, Mercedes-Benz drivers won a total of 166 times in 343 DTM races. But in the three-way rivalry between Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz, Paffett’s win is the first during the new DTM era.

Mercedes-Benz is hoping that its C-Class Coupe, which will debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month, will appeal to the younger market. In an unprecedented move which surprised a lot of people, Mercedes-Benz is offering its latest E-Class Coupe for less cost than its E-Class Sedan, a model which it shares its positioning, styling, and interior with. No automaker has ever offered a more exclusive coupe model for less than a sedan version.

The German company is offering the E-Class Sedan beginning at $49,470 for the basic E350, but a E350 Coupe is only $48,920.

Initially it was thought that Mercedes Benz gave its E-Class coupe a lower price to hit the competition but, as it turns out, although the coupe borrows its graceful design from the E-Class Sedan, it uses a much cheaper and smaller C-Class platform under its striking exterior.

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe is carmaker's attempt to appeal to younger buyers and hopefully take out the BMW 1-Series. The discontinued but very popular CLK had a C-Class chassis for an E-Class price. But this time, Mercedes will do something very different. It will have a dedicated E-Class Coupe (and E-Class convertible) and for the first time, it will have a dedicated C-Class Coupe, which is believed to be a 2011 model.

The goal is to compete directly with the BMW 1-Series, which has been successful at attracting the younger buyers that have yet to make their first million. Of course, the high-volume and iconic 3-Series is being targeted but clearly, this car is a direct reaction to the 1-Series.

The 1-Series had been instrumental in proving the presence of a market for an affordable premium rear-wheel-drive coupe in the US. It can be recalled that both companies have attempted to enter this market but were only met with failure.

A new Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe, which will be introduced in 2011, will signal the demise of the CLC, Autocar reports (of course, we reported this new car back in Septermber, in this post). The C-Class Coupe is actually the second two-door to be based on the existing C-class; however, it will be the first to take its name into production.

The new Mercedes C-class Coupe is slated to go on sale in the United Kingdom simultaneous with the arrival of the facelifted versions of the existing saloon and estate in showrooms in early 2011.

New Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe was designed to replace the CLK, which has stopped production months ago after 12 years and two model generations.

Bentley Motors’ centenary celebration is just getting started. As the iconic British carmaker unveiled the fastest production SUV in the world so far, it is also celebrating 100 years of existence by unveiling a limited edition collectors’ car – the new Bentley Continental GT Number 9 Edition by Mulliner.

Ever since W.O. Bentley founded Bentley Motors on July 10, 1919, the working principle at the carmaker has always been “build a fast car, a good car, the best in its class.” Nearly 100 years since then, Bentley’s celebratory model is seen to live to that principle. After all, the Continental GT Number 9 Edition by Mulliner is inspired by the carmaker’s illustrious motorsport history.

In fact, the Continental GT Number 9 Edition by Mulliner is paying homage to Sir Henry Ralph Stanley “Tim” Birkin. Considered as one of the original ‘Bentley Boys’ of the 1920s and ‘30s, Birkin wasn’t just a customer but also a racing driver. Back then, Birkin commissioned a series of 4 1/2 Litre supercharged Bentley Blower. One of these was raced by Birkin himself at the 1930 Le Mans 24 Hours. As you may have guessed, Birkin piloted the iconic No.9 Bentley Blower – with power increased from 110 bhp to 175 bhp -- at the race.

The new Audi TT RS – yes, the top version of the German carmaker’s facelifted TT model series – is now officially here. If you could remember, the range-topping TT RS Coupe and Roadster were visually absent when Audi unveiled the facelifted TT model series in July 2018. That got some worried, so Audi is allaying those worries.

As introduced by the brand with the Four Rings, the latest iteration of the Audi TT RS Coupe and Roadster boasts of completely redrawn front end. However, most of us won't be able to distinguish the newest TT RS models from their predecessors right away. It would take discerning eyes – especially those of Audi TT RS fans and enthusiasts – to know how the latest iterations differ visually from the previous model.

For instance, the lateral air intakes on the front bumper are now larger, each divided by vertical strips. In addition, the quattro logo -- in matt titanium-look – is located in the lower part of the gloss black grille that is surrounded by matt black Singleframe. The grille is flanked by LED headlights as standard, or by optional matrix LED units.

It also delivers 442 lb.-ft. (660 Nm) of torque, allowing the B4 S to accelerate from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 4.2 seconds for the standard rear-wheel-drive configuration, or 3.9 seconds with the all-wheel drive version.
