On the first round of Euro NCAP crash tests, Mercedes-Benz’s latest Citan van received only three stars. Among the criticisms that the Citan got were centered on its hard dashboard structures that may lead to front-seat passengers sustaining severe head injuries and its airbags that didn’t offer adequate protection.
Furthermore, it scored poor on pedestrian protection due to a flaw in its bumper and bonnet design. The Citan is built on the same underpinnings as the Renault Kangoo, which Euro NCAP has not tested yet. While the last Kangoo got four stars, that rating was given under more lenient standards. The automaker will sell the Citan as both a commercial vehicle and passenger car.
Families that need space but are on a budget are likely to be attracted to the passenger car that’s given additional equipment. But buyers may be discouraged by its child protection score of 34/49. Mercedes has insisted that the Citan is safe. It’s also denying that it failed in any of the tests. The automaker said that it doesn’t plan to revise the Citan in light of the findings from Euro NCAP.Read the entire article Mercedes-Benz Citan receives only three stars at the Euro NCAP crash tests

As mentioned, the Citan is also available through finance packages. Who doesn’t miss seeing MacGyver’s Richard Dean Anderson back on television? We have Mercedes-Benz to thank for that. The German automaker is set to release an advertising campaign, which includes three all-new episodes that will start to be aired on September 18 online. MacGyver will be acquiring a new gadget – the Mercedes-Benz’s new Citan minivan.
Putting the non-violent action hero together with a minivan may be surprising at first but what they have in common is that they’re both crafty and resourceful. Next month, the Citan will make its debut at the IAA International Commercial Vehicle Show. It will be arriving next month in various iterations.
The Citan will be offered in any of three lengths/styles -- a panel van (similar to the Ford Transit Connect), a Mixto (which could accommodate a minimum of five people and has adequate room in the back), or a Crewbus that has to have three rows of seats at least. Those vans are offered with one of three diesel engines, with power that varies from 74 hp to 109 hp, or a supercharged gasoline engine that delivers 113 hp.Read the entire article MacGyver partners with Mercedes-Benz to promote the new Citan

The new Citan urban delivery van from Mercedes-Benz has completed the rigorous and grueling winter testing, which every Mercedes-Benz unit has to undertake to be qualified to bear the three-pointed star mark. The new van model has undergone various other tests, which are a testament to the high quality of the body, drive system, suspension and interior.
The winters in northern Sweden are the ideal conditions to bring the new Mercedes-Benz Citan to the test with the meter-high snow lining both sides of the road and sub-zero temperatures down to -40°C, among others.
For 10 years, Mercedes-Benz Vans has been putting every new model to test under extreme conditions near the Arctic Circle. Vito and Sprinter vans have also undergone rigorous winter testing on various occasions.Read the entire article New Mercedes-Benz Citan urban delivery van passes winter testing
The compact van market in Europe outsells the U.S. with annual sales of 700,000 units. It then comes as no surprise that Mercedes-Benz will offer the Citan -- a new front-wheel-drive commercial van based on the successor to the compact Renault Kangoo -- in Europe. So far, Mercedes-Benz USA doesn’t intend to sell the Citan in the U.S.
Mercedes-Benz has released drawings of the Citan. It will debut this September at the IAA Commercial Vehicles show in Hannover, Germany. Sales start this fall. The Citan is a combination of the words "city" and "titan.”
The Citan would be the smallest van in Mercedes-Benz’s lineup, which includes the Vario (the biggest van), followed in size by the Sprinter and Vito. The automaker forecasts that the Citan will attract 5% of the European market.Read the entire article Mercedes-Benz Citan not coming in the United States
These official sketches from Mercedes-Benz show off the Citan, the successor to the long-discontinued Vaneo commercial van that’s based on the Renault Kangoo. The Mercedes-Benz Citan is a new front-wheel drive urban delivery vehicle that’s set to get its first public premiere at the Hannover commercial vehicle show this September before sales begin. A right-hand-drive version is expected later this year.
The Citan will eventually be available in five body versions and three types of wheelbases. It would be powered by a lineup that Renault developed but was enhanced by Mercedes-Benz, including four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines that range in power from 59bhp to 108bhp.
CNG and LPG variants are expected to follow. Mercedes-Benz said that the European market for light commercial vehicles has increased to 700,000 each year.Read the entire article Mercedes-Benz Citan: first official sketches revealed
The Chevrolet City Express small cargo van has been in the market since 2014 (2015 model year). Designed for customers seeking a small fuel-efficient, cargo vehicle, the City Express has silently reached the end of the road, as General Motors has already stopped taking orders and building of this small work van.
While it is now too late for the Chevrolet City Express to make a sales comeback, GM was literally silent about the fate of Chevy’s small cargo van. According to a report by the Automotive News citing a spokesman from GM, dealers were informed of plans to drop the City Express as early as Summer 2017. Chevrolet received orders for the small cargo van only until September 2017, with the production of the last units of the 2018 City Express officially ended in February 2018.
In 2013, GM and Nissan Motors inked an agreement for the Japanese carmaker to build a small cargo van – the Chevrolet City Express – as based on the Nissan NV200. The Nissan NV200 is a compact yet spacious commercial boasts of low cost of ownership. Designed as both a passenger and a commercial vehicle, the Nissan NV200 is being sold in several markets around the world, including in the United States and Canada.Read the entire article Chevrolet City Express small cargo van discontinued due to low sales
Not so long ago in the United Kingdom, we witnessed how the Ford Fiesta has been converted into a van, and now, the Dacia Duster seems to be getting the same treatment. The Duster Fiskal has been available in Austria for quite some time now, together with the Sandero Fiskal and Logan MCV Fiskal. And the former, actually has been making the transition towards the SUV’s second generation. The said model caters to small businesses, and the utilitarian vehicle will finally let go of the rear bench to allow for more cargo capacity.
The new flat load compartment features a rubber mat that measures 1.64 meters (64.5 inches) long and contains four lashing points to make sure your cargo is secure. Inside, there is also a good quality steel divider wall that separates the passenger area from the cargo compartment, while the rear side windows have been covered instead to avoid those prying eyes looking inside the van. It may seem like Dacia just added a plastic white panel over the Duster Fiskal’s body but that’s not all they have done. Instead, it had been replaced with metal covered by a nice piece of fabric on the inside.
Even though it had not been mentioned in the press release, its load volume is pretty much identical to that of the regular Duster with the rear seats folded. When the seats are down, the front wheel drive model can accommodate 1,636 liters of space, and the 4x4 version can fit up to 1,604 liters.Read the entire article 2018 Dascia Duster Fiskal has been modified into a van
Count an all-electric van as one of the MAN SE’s upcoming offerings this year. The well-known truck maker is joining the ranks of manufacturers offering a zero-emission solution to commercial customers with the electric version of its TGE van – the new MAN eTGE.
One may easily mistake the MAN eTGE as the Volkswagen e-Crafter. This isn't surprising since its diesel version -- the TGE – is essentially a twin of the VW Crafter. Thus, the MAN eTGE shares its DNA and basic architecture with the e-Crafter. However, compared to its e-Crafter twin, the eTGE is less powerful and offers lesser electric range. Nonetheless, MAN says the eTGE is just right for its target market, which already includes of Germany, Austria, Belgium, France, Norway and the Netherlands. Customers could avail of this electric light commercial vehicle at a price of around €69,500.
The new MAN eTGE is powered by a permanently excited synchronous motor that could deliver 100 kW of output and 290 Nm of instant torque. Getting its juice from a rechargeable battery with a power capacity of 36 kWh, the electric motor allows the eTGE to go as fast as 90 km/h (56 mph). However, this energy capacity is just enough to allow the eTGE to go as far as 160 km (100 miles), which is mainly dependent on the load of this all-electric van. MAN eTGE has a permitted total weight of 3.5 or 4.25 tons as well as a maximum load of between 950 kg to 1,700 kg, depending on the configuration.Read the entire article MAN introduces new eTGE fully electric van for zero-emission commercial needs
We know that in June this year, the third generation Mercedes-Benz Sprinter will be available in dealerships in Europe. Finally, the automaker has shared real details on what we can expect from the new commercial van.
Aside from that, interested buyers in Germany can already place their orders on one of these for a base price of 19,990 euros before tax ($24,530 at current exchange rates). Deliveries for this electrified eSprinter are set to start in 2019.
Though the current version of the Sprinter is available in a rear wheel drive and an all wheel drive option, customers will now be offered in a front wheel drive version of the van.Read the entire article 2018 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter can be configured for any type of job
Mercedes-Benz is building on the success of the Marco Polo travel vans by offering more diversity with their newest offering -- the camper van conversion, catering to the more adventurous crowd. This new package does not directly come from Mercedes. Instead, it is the product of Tischer, a German company that specializes in converting pickups into recreational vehicles.
If you check out the German tuner’s page online, you would see a number of similar conversions for different brands and models such as the Land Rover Defender, the Volkswagen Amarok, Toyota Hilux, Nissan Navara, Isuzu D-Max, Ford Ranger, and to the Dodge Ram. As you know, Mercedes’ X-Class is somewhat based on the Navara, much like the Renault Alaskan. And that is why it should not come as a surprise that Tischer is adding the X-Class to its lineup.
The cabin is designed like a cove and the inside area measures 1.5 meters wide with nearly two meters of headroom. It offers plenty of space and includes a kitchen with a three-burner gas stove for cooking while on the road. It has enough space for three seats, which can easily be transformed into an extra bed when needed. The best part is that the entire cabin is demountable.Read the entire article Tischer converts Mercedes-Benz X-Class pickup truck into a posh camper van
Have you been stuck on the decision whether to get an SUV or a van, but can’t fit both in your garage? Well, worry no more because Toyota has come up with a solution to your problem. The concept is called the Tj Cruiser, and it is a hybrid of a van and an SUV. The “T” stands for “toolbox”, while “J” stands for Joy. And of course, there is no need to explain where “Cruiser” comes from as it has been used for years. Toyota plans to unveil this concept at the upcoming 2017 Tokyo Motor Show later this month.
First of all, Toyota gave the Tj Cruiser a special finish on the hood, roof, and the fenders to keep it scratch and dirt resistant - especially when objects unexpectedly come in contact with them. Like all other upcoming Toyota cars, the boxy half-van half-SUV will be engineered on the TNGA platform, while it gets a hybridized 2.0 liter gasoline engine. The concept will be able to accommodate both a front- and all-wheel drive setup. It will sit on a set of 20-inch alloy wheels wearing Bridgestone tires, and has a beefy suspension setup. Physically, it still looks like a minivan, especially with the flat roof and the seamless window line.
With the huge sliding doors, passengers will not have to worry about getting in and out of the vehicle. But it is not just the passengers who will benefit from this but also will be convenient to those who will have to load or unload large bags and sports equipment. Having said that, the Tj Cruiser concept can actually fit items up to three meters (118 inches) long, when both the front and rear seats are folded. What makes this SUV even more practical is that it comes with a number of tie-down points behind the seats as well as deck boards for anchoring things. As mentioned earlier, it has so much space that it can fit equipment like bikes, surfboards, and other bulky objects through the back door.Read the entire article Toyota solves your SUV-or-van dilemma with the TJ Cruiser Concept

The 70th Cannes International Film Festival isn’t just about films and celebrities. During this year’s event, French automaker Renault surprised us with their range topping high-end shuttle, the Trafic SpaceClass. The van was used as a shuttle for VIPs going to the event.
The name “SpaceClass” comes from the idea that the luxury van provides both “space and comfort” for up to nine passengers. Renault expects the van to be part of the luxurious shuttle market, along with its competitors: the Citroën Spacetourer and the Peugeot Traveller.
SpaceClass comes in an exclusive shade of grey paint, exclusive head- and taillights, gloss black detailing, colour-coded bumpers, and 17-inch alloy wheels. Though it may just look like a regular van from the outside, don’t judge the SpaceClass based on its exterior, as all the amazing features can be found inside the cabin.Read the entire article Renault launches VIP shuttle Trafic SpaceClass at Cannes Film Festival
BRABUS has long been considered as one of those who everyone admires when it comes to ideas related to multimedia and business focusing on automobiles. Well, with the new Mercedes-Benz V-Class by Mansory, there’s no need to pimp your ride! Everything has already been pimped out for you. But no, this isn’t like what you see on the television. Remember the Volkswagen e-Crafter van concept? It looks like its production version won’t bear the same moniker. Instead, VW could be planning to etch the term “e-Transporter” on the concept’s nameplate when it arrives as a production model sometime this year.
The possible change in name came as the German carmaker just recently trademarked four nameplates: e-Transporter, Allsider, Duomotion and Twin Motion. The Allsider moniker could be a new badge for the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. Meanwhile the Duomotion and Twin Motion aliases could be suffixes to define the type of powertrain behind the company’s vehicles.
Volkswagen took the veils off the e-Crafter van concept at the IAA Commercial Vehicle Show in Hannover, Germany in September 2016. Boasting of zero emissions, the concept van is touted to be a perfect choice for delivery vehicles and logistics service providers. At its core is a built-in 100 kW electric motor that could provide 290 Nm of peak torque, allowing the VW e-Crafter to achieve a top speed of 80km/h. This electric motor derives its juice from 43-kWh battery pack that allows the e-Crafter to travel up to 200 km before needing to recharge. The battery e-Crafter could be recharged up to 80 percent of its energy capacity in less than an hour thanks to a 40 kW DC quick charger.Read the entire article VW trademarks e-Transporter name as possible production moniker for e-Crafter Concept
