Mercedes-Benz goes zesty with its GLE Coupe OrangeArt Edition

Mercedes-Benz will release more premium edition variants of its latest models that are closely based on the same concept of the SLC RedArt and SL design Edition. The car in question is the new GLE Coupe OrangeArt Edition which offers a model-specific upgrade.

In a bid to attract more consumers, the German marque will be offering its pseudo SUV-coupe with the premium edition treatment. The new variant is offered in a couple of black shades as well as in white, gray or silver hues. But what is eye-catching is that the Coupe can be aesthetically known for its orange accents of the rim flange and front apron.

Various eye-catchers in Orange lend the coupe a sporty look, and with its striking contrast, they give the vehicle a stylish vibe. The OrangeArt Edition Coupe also flaunts 21-inch alloy wheels directly from AMG's portfolio and will be offered as standard with a black LED ring meant for the headlights. The exterior's upgrades are only up to here, sorry to burst your bubble.

Get awestruck with the Mercedes-Benz GLE 350d INFERNO by TopCar

Do the vehicle’s aesthetic standards appeal to you more than its performance? If so, TopCar’s version of the Mercedes-Benz GLE 350d not only looks mean but it also comes with a meaner price tag --- It’s almost like buying an “AMG-fied” GLE63 S Coupe. That being the case, there definitely is a lot more you can do to make it run just as fast or to simply improve its overall performance. Which would you rather have?

To compare it with the AMG 63 S, the GLE 350d dressed up in TopCar’s Inferno body kit is priced at around $113,000 while the set of 22-inch Lumma Design Wheels can be bought separately at more or less 6,900 USD. On the other hand, you can get the AMG-modified Mercedes-Benz for 110,650 USD. In other words, this makes the diesel engined Inferno close to the price range of an AMG.

If you’re leaning towards fuel economy, then an AMG might not be for you. You may have to bring down your expectations. A standard GLE 350d Coupe boasts an average of 6.9 liters per 100 kilometers combined fuel consumption. Besides, it has enough power to hit 62 mph from a standstill in just seven seconds.

BRABUS 850 6.0 Biturbo 4x4 Coupe based on Mercedes-Benz GLE 63 AMG Coupe

Brabus’ team of designers and engineers rose to the challenge of transforming this new Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe into an SUV coupe that takes the top spot when it comes to performance. A turbocharged V8 engine sits under the hood of the new BRABUS 850 6.0 Biturbo 4x4 Coupe.

With a displacement of 6 liters, the engine has been rated at 625 kW / 850 HP (838 bhp) and 1,450 Nm (1,069 lb-ft) of torque. What results is a powerful engine that can launch a car to 100 km/h or 62 mph in a span of just 3.8 seconds from a standstill.

This is also thanks to the SUV’s lightweight design, as the vehicle weighs slightly more than 2,350 kilograms (5,180 pounds). The electronic limiter on the engine, however, keeps the car at just 320 km per hour or 200 mph for its top speed.

Clearly inspired by its German rival, the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe promises to feel like a true sports car and despite its similarity with an SUV with its raised seating position and all-around view, the passengers are led to believe that they are in a sports rather than off-road mode.

Mercedes-Benz will offer to engines when it will launch the GLE Coupe and we expect more by the end of 2015. Although it was just a rumor it appears that Mercedes-Benz will indeed take on the BMW X6. As expected, the car will be based on the Mercedes-Benz M-Class and the new car will use the same running gear found on its brother. An AMG version is also planned and it will use the same engine found on the ML63 AMG.

Asked why Mercedes-Benz decided to build such as car, an executive said that due to the ample demand but also due to the fact that it involves reduced engineering work and costs. The new crossover will be sold in the United States, China and Europe. Still, Mercedes-Benz is currently chasing BMW into a sub-segment, which is not very big or glamorous.

Still, the BMW X6 is quite popular and this is what Mercedes-Benz wants. Despite its success, other carmakers failed to impress with their X6-styled crossovers, such as Acura with its ZDX or the Honda Crosstour. We shall see if the new Mercedes-Benz MLC will be different when it will hit the dealerships by 2014.

The fifth model that Mercedes-Benz will be building at its Alabama plant by 2015 is shaped like a crossover with a coupe back end that’s very similar to the BMW X6, according to an image and picked up by Jalopnik. CEO Dieter Zetsche has not divulged about what this new model would be but it is clear that it will be one of 10 extra models that will be released over the next four years.

This makes it apparent that the model that Mercedes is referring to won’t be the existing GLK. The latest reports say that the MLC will be built on the same platform as the new ML-Class.

Its lines are inspired by the CLS. The back doesn’t have a lot of room, implying that Mercedes is focused on the design instead of its practicality and off-road prowess. Mercedes has plans to introduce an AMG version that uses the most advanced technologies, enabling it to produce more than 544hp.

It seems like we are reporting about BMW cars every week. And this week, we are going to talk about the BMW 8 Series, because first, we have been waiting for its arrival, and second, it comes with a handful of technology, as well as two engine options. Therefore, there is no excuse that we don’t talk about this.

Overall, the production 8 Series looks like a toned down version of last year’s concept. The production model now has a long, low nose with a narrow take on BMW’s kidney grille. The hood then continues to a double bubble roof that flows back to a gently sloping tail. Large trapezoidal tail pipes dominate the view from the rear end.

LED headlights come as a standard feature, but these can be upgraded to laser lights. To cut down on weight, buyers can then spec a carbon fiber reinforced plastic, and there’s an available Carbon Package that uses CFRP for parts like the mirror caps, intakes, rear spoiler and diffuser.

About a year ago, Swedish professional skier, Jon Olsson shared his bespoke Rolls-Royce Wraith, which he named “George”. The monster has an insane 810 horsepower under its hood, and now, he is selling it for a not so budget-friendly price.

The very first time we learnt about this was at The Netherland’s Auto Leitner, with its selling price of around $324,000 (275,000 euros). When looking at the car, it seems that nothing has changed as it remains to have the exterior upgrades and its heavily tuned engine.

Some of the Wraith’s exterior upgrades include Olsson’s signature camouflage wrap, lowered suspension, and the plethora of LED lights. It sits on a set of 24 inch Forgiato matte black wheels fitted with Pirelli Pzero Nero 285/30 ZR24 tires. It also has a jet powered, carbon fiber surfboard that weighs 18 kilograms (40 pounds). We doubt that the surfboard is included in the package though.

A decade ago, BMW invented the luxury coupe-SUV segment with the X6. And it is only this year that Audi decided to join them with the first ever Q8 SUV. This model is new to the Q family of high riding vehicles, giving customers both versatility of an SUV, and elegance of a five door coupe.

The size of the Q8 is pretty much like the Q7’s dimensions. But because of its sloping roofline design, it looks like it sits closer to the ground. Its wheelbase measures almost three meters (118 inches), a huge cabin, for which Audi says is superior compared to their competitors within its segment, namely the BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe.

Moving on to the Q8’s capacity, it has a larger boot that can hold up to 605 liters (21.3 cubic feet) of your bags when the rear seats are in place, and can be expanded to 1,755 liters (61.9 cubic feet) when folded. To make it easier for us to explain, the boot can fit two golf bags in a transverse direction. As standard, the tailgate is electrically operated, but it can also be had with an electric parcel shelf.

If The Hulk were to be a car, what would it be? Well, you might want to check out this Mercedes-AMG GT R that is just as green and powerful as the angry monster. But before we get to that, let us first talk about the standard Mercedes-AMG GT which is available in a handful of variations. The standard version is the GT Coupe, pumping out a respectable 469 horsepower (349 kilowatts).

There is also the GT C, which focuses more on performance and has as much as 550 horsepower (410 kilowatts). Meanwhile, the range-topping model would be the track-ready GT R, with the ability to deliver 577 horsepower (430 kilowatts). And last but not the least is the four-door GT. But even with those options, one German tuning shop thinks that the AMG GT could use more power.

So going back to the mean, green AMG GT R that Renntech offers as an upgrade. They enabled it to deliver between 612 and 825 horsepower (456 and 615 kilowatts), depending on the trim. The latter of the two is dubbed as the AMG GT R825. This does not only have more power, but also has a torque of 626 pound feet (850 Newton metres). The extra power is attributed to the larger turbo, paired with a software upgrade, blow off valves, and high flow air filter, among others. Of course, expect the transmission as well as the clutch to cope with the change.
