Carlsson has introduced a tuning program for the elegant Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class (X204) compact sports utility vehicle at the 2013 Essen Motor Show. The tuned GLK features OE quality PU-RIM aerodynamic components as well as a chrome Carlsson radiator grille that surrounds a strong horizontal dividing bar and has the distinctive Carlsson logo at its center.
The new front bumper is complemented by a RS lip spoiler, Carlsson’s trademark three-piece stainless steel mesh grille inserts that make the vehicle look sportier and more elegant.
The chrome-plated inserts for the LED daytime running lights, located at the top of each side air intake, seem like the ‘jewelry’ of this new frontal design. The tuned GLK’s rear valance features a chrome-plated diffuser, complemented by chromed outlets of the quad pipe sports exhaust system. The stainless steel exhaust lowers backpressure, allowing the SUV to churn out a few more horsepower.Read the entire article Carlsson unveils new tuning program for 2014 Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class
Mercedes-Benz will start selling the diesel-powered GLK250 BlueTec compact crossover in the United States on April 30, 2013. The GLK250 is powered by an all-aluminum 2.1-liter twin-turbo diesel that will also replace a 3.0-liter V-6 diesel in the restyled E-class sedan in September. The four-cylinder diesel engine will also power the redesigned C-class sedan in 2015.
Mercedes last offered a four-cylinder diesel in the US in 1985, in the persona of the 2.2-liter 190D. The GLK250 will be the fifth diesel-powered model in the Mercedes-Benz USA lineup after the E-class and S-class sedans and the ML and GL crossovers.
Mercedes executives disclosed that three bigger vehicles -- S-class sedan and the ML and GL crossovers -- are unlikely to be powered by the four-cylinder diesel.Read the entire article 2013 Mercedes-Benz GLK250 BlueTec goes on sale in the US with a $39,459 price tag
There’s a new engine for the Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class: a very agile and fuel-efficient four-cylinder petrol unit. The high-tech direct injection engine in the GLK 250 4MATIC delivers 155 kW (211 hp) and torque of 350 newton metres, leading to superior performance and stable drive comfort. In addition, the new model year offers the extra benefit of a new-generation infotainment system with heightened functionality for the GLK-Class, as well as for all of Mercedes-Benz SUV models.
For the first time, a four-cylinder petrol engine will be available for the GLK range. Buyers can order the GLK range with this engine starting in June 2013. The advanced 2.0-litre unit provides an excellent drive comfort that’s an expected feature of the brand, making it comparable to what the V6 petrol unit in the GLK 350 4MATIC could offer.
Its performance is outstanding too, enabling the GLK 250 4MATIC to sprint from zero to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds and to hit a top speed of 215 km/h. As a result, the new model can achieve an NEDC combined fuel consumption of only 7.7 to 7.5 litres of unleaded petrol per 100 kilometres (180-176 g CO2/km).Read the entire article Mercedes-Benz introduces GLK 250 4MATIC, powered by a four-cylinder engine
AMG, Mercedes-Benz’s performance arm, won’t be coming out with a hot-rodded version of the newly released Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class compact crossover. This was confirmed by AMG's vehicle development chief, Tobias Moer, via Australia's CarAdvice. This is quite unexpected since AMG enhanced the performance of nearly all Mercedes-Benz models produced.
AMG even worked on the R-Class crossover and the G-Wagen off roader. Furthermore, AMG has pledged to work on more all-wheel-drive models in the future. Moer said that the GLK doesn’t fit with AMG's mantra. However, he implied that it’s still possible that their minds will change, especially with the arrival of the Porsche Macan.
Moer said that AMG isn't failing to latch on to a growing segment, even if Audi recently presented a high-performance version of the RS Q3, which rivals the GLK in Europe. He thinks that the right strategy wasn’t used on the RS Q3 as it doesn’t have ample power for an RS model. He added that the RS Q3 delivers 310hp from its TT RS-sourced five-cylinder turbo motor.Read the entire article Mercedes-Benz not planning an AMG version of the GLK
Mercedes-Benz will offer a diesel-engine option to the refreshed GLK crossover unveiled at the ongoing New York Auto Show. The GLK250 BlueTEC 4MATIC will be powered by a 190-hp, 2.1-liter inline-four-cylinder diesel engine. The GLK will be the latest Mercedes vehicle to gain a diesel variant. All of Mercedes' larger crossovers and sports utility vehicles have diesel variants.
The new engine variant is expected to give the Mercedes GLK an advantage over rivals Audi Q5 and BMW X3, which have yet to offer diesel engines in the United States. Mercedes has yet to disclose the expected fuel economy ratings for the new diesel version. The first new GLK variant to be available for public will be the GLK350, which will start production this summer.
It will be powered by a V-6 engine. The V6 used to have only 268hp, but after its rework, the engine could now spew out 302hp. A buyer could opt to include in his basket an AMG styling package that includes 20-inch wheels, front and rear skirts, sportier daytime running lights, aluminum roof rails and an AMG grille.Read the entire article Mercedes-Benz to offer diesel variant for the GLK crossover in the United States
Mercedes-Benz revealed today the 2013 GLK a.k.a. a new facelift for its popular crossover, which promises to offer new fuel-efficient powertrains as well as a fresh design. There is no longer any differentiation between different types of bumpers with specific on-road and off-road packages. Moreover, the new GLK features new roof rails.

Mercedes-Benz will be offering a 2013 GLK diesel this fall, Steve Cannon, the CEO of Mercedes-Benz USA, confirmed. The GLK will be the sixth diesel model in Mercedes’ lineup. Mercedes is currently offering the ML and GL SUVs, R-class crossover, E-class sedan and S-class flagship sedan, all fitted with a six-cylinder 3.0-liter diesel. The 2013 GLK diesel will be fitted with a four-cylinder engine.
Cannon forecasts that diesel sales could push GLK sales from 24,310 units in 2011 to the “high 30s” in 2012. Diesels represent around 25% to 30% of GL sales and 15% to 20% of the ML, Cannon added. Diesel sales of the E-class sedan represent 3%. Mercedes commenced sale of its S400 diesel last fall and is planning to create a diesel variant on the compact C class when the car is redesigned in three years.
This year’s offerings outline Mercedes’ diesel dominance over its German rivals. BMW’s diesel fleet only includes the X5 SUV and the 3 series. Audi’s diesel lineup is composed of the Q7 SUV and A3 hatchback, but may soon include the A4 sedan and possibly the compact Q3 crossover.Read the entire article 2013 Mercedes-Benz GLK will get a diesel engine in the United States

This comes with the fact that the original brief demanded a design that retains the GLK's structural reliability. Just as soon as Boulevard sent models of its roadster concepts to Mercedes-Benz USA, it got the green light right away.
In collaboration with NBS Performance, Boulevard removed the roof, lowered the windshield height and then placed the essential structural bracing to create a roadster with apparent modifications to the door tops and pillars.Read the entire article Mercedes-Benz GLK Urban Whip Concept to debut at SEMA
The Brabus GLK Widestar represents Brabus' own take of the Mercedes-Benz GLK 300, blessing the German SUV with a number of elements that allow it to exhibit the refinement typical of Mercedes vehicles along with the agility and on-road prowess of sports cars. Just one glimpse at the Brabus GLK Widestar tells us about its imposing yet tough stance, mainly attributed to its Widestar bodyshell that has been extended by 50 mm and features integrated flared wheel arches that expand towards the front with special air intake fins.
Moreover, the Widestar bodyshell features specialized bumpers for the front and rear, side skirts and LED daytime running lights. It also features a roof spoiler with LED position lights and LED lighting units positioned above the front windshield. Completing the exterior look of the Brabus GLK Widestar is a black paint finish with extra depth of shine made possible by a special paint process.
According to Ulrich Gauffr, Head of Research and Development at BRABUS, it was an interesting challenge to make the already unique Mercedes GLK more fascinating. He noted that Brabus' Widestar kit highlights the characteristic edge of the original GLK-Class design, including the flared wheel arches that hug its 21-inch wheels wrapped in 295/30 ZR 21 tires. Moreover, it is complemented by a BRABUS chassis kit that lowers ride height by 30 mm as well as a high-performance brake system.Read the entire article Brabus GLK Widestar based on the Mercedes-Benz GLK
