For those of you who have extremely high standards, the Mercedes-Benz S Class may not be opulent enough for you. And this is the reason why the automaker decided to make the high class sedan a notch more luxurious with its Maybach variant. This model will make an appearance at next month’s 2018 Geneva Motor Show, before it goes on sale in the United States in the late summer of 2018.
What makes this variant stand out from its siblings would be the new grille that uses vertical slats, instead of the regular horizontal ones. On the lower fascia, you will find a metallic trim that gives the vehicle a flashier look.
The most prominent change here, however, would be the car’s profile. The 2019 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class now measures 215 inches (5,461 millimeters) long, while riding on a 132.5 inch (3,365.5 mm) wheelbase. This is a whopping 10 inches (254mm) increase than even the long-wheelbase S-Class Sedan. Having said that, passengers should have a lot more leg room in the cabin.Read the entire article 2019 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is refreshed to be more luxurious and longer
For those of you who have been to China, you have probably noticed that their highways are very different from those in the United States and Europe. For example, each lane in China has a different speed limit. But there are many other challenges and as a result, even visitors will have to obtain local driving licenses in order to drive there.
Now, with its variations and unfamiliar rules, you would probably wonder how autonomous or driverless cars would work, right? It’s even more complicated for cars that were developed and tested in Europe and the United States. So what exactly will happen if a car made from the west was brought to the east? Well, Mercedes-Benz tried it out and has found out. Two months ago, the German automaker started its Intelligent World Drive campaign during the Frankfurt Motor Show, and they boasted that one of its features is that the autonomous driving function adapts to other countries’ ways of driving.
It was the self-driving S-Class that Mercedes-Benz brought to Shanghai, and it was tested on the streets to gather an insight of the real-life traffic and driving situations of China. This information is tasked to help develop the technology.Read the entire article Mercedes’ self-driving S-Class sedan is being tested through China’s tricky highways
While Mercedes-Benz, through its AMG unit, is toying with its Project One hypercar, it has unveiled at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show the newest and cleaner addition to its S-Class model range – the 2018 Mercedes-Benz S560e next-generation plug-in hybrid.
Meant to replace the S500e plug-in hybrid of the pre-Facelift S-Class, the new Mercedes S560e boasts of having more power and being able to travel longer distances. These capabilities are centered on the S560e’s more dynamic hybrid drive system that employs a more powerful V6 engine and electric motor as well as a higher capacity lithium-ion battery.
The hybrid system that propels the new Mercedes S560e makes use of a 3.0-liter V6 engine that delivers 270 kW (367 hp) of max output and 500 Nm (369 lb.-ft) of peak torque. For other vehicles, this amount of power is already enough, but Mercedes has adjudged that this conventional mill wasn’t enough to make the S560e not just powerful, but also efficient. As a plug-in hybrid, the new S560e also makes use of an electric motor – developed in collaboration with Bosch -- that generates up to 90 kW of output and 440 Nm of instant torque.Read the entire article 2018 Mercedes-Benz S560e Plug-in Hybrid is a more powerful and more efficient successor to S500e
When Mercedes-Benz unveiled the face-lifted or updated sedan (or saloon) version of the S-Class for the 2018 model year, the carmaker stunned the public with new front and rear fascias, new grille design, new engines and an array of innovative technologies. Of course, it was expected that Mercedes-Benz would also update the coupe and cabriolet versions of its flagship model.
Now, the German carmaker is officially confirming those updates with the face-lifted 2018 Mercedes S-Class Coupe and 2018 Mercedes S-Class Cabriolet models. Both new models will be formally unveiled at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show.
As expected, the updates on the 2018 Mercedes S-Class Coupe were more or less the same as the extensive tweaks implemented on the 2018 S-Class Saloon. For instance, the new S-Class Coupe is provided with new or functionally extended driving assistance systems, integrated Energizing comfort control and the latest infotainment generation.Read the entire article Mercedes-Benz introduces 2018 S-Class Coupe, S63 and S65 AMG Coupe facelifts

This is thanks to a number of changes like new front and rear fascias and new grille design as well as new engines and a host of innovative technologies.
Just as expected, the updated 2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet Facelift features more or less the same changes as that made on the 2018 S-Class Saloon. Wonder no more, as Mercedes-Benz has already divulged the pricing – at least in Germany -- of the latest iteration of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, which underwent a mid-cycle facelift for the 2018 model year.
Mercedes-Benz has now opened its order books for the new 2018 S-Class. Interested customers could choose from four versions: S350d, S400d, S560, and S63. All of these versions are 4Matic models, which mean that they are all-wheel drive premium vehicles.

For those who wanted to avail of the long-wheelbase version, they need to cough out EUR91,719.25. Earlier this week, the revamped 2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class was revealed ahead of the 2017 Shanghai Auto Show. As expected, Mercedes Benz’s flagship model is now offered in several variants including the AMG specced sedan. Unique to this update is the suite of driver assistance technologies and active safety features under its latest Intelligent Drive system.
According to Mercedes-Benz, the new enhancements on the S-Class are the closest it could get to actual autonomous driving. The most notable ones include the new Active Speed Limit Assist, Active Lane Change Assist, Active emergency Stop Assist, Active Steering Assist and Active Distance Assist Distronic feature. It also comes equipped with the new Route Based Speed Adaptation technology that adjusts the vehicle’s speed according to the information seen on the map such as exit ramps, toll booths, roundabouts, junctions and curves.
Most mid-cycle updates are not technically considered as facelifts. Instead, the automaker performs a few tweaks here and there to bring a fresh new offer for their customers. This time however, the luxury sedan is almost not the same as its previous model.Read the entire article 2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Facelift: here are the changes

So, our verdict? While the Lexus LS 500 seems to be a good proposition, its price has yet to be announced and its performance is still as good as printed in a paper. For now, the LS 500 wins, until we could really try being behind the wheels of all of these premium sedans.Read the entire article How does the 2018 Lexus LS compare against German premium sedans?
Second-hand or used cars are usually appreciated because of their lower prices. Some used-car buyers hit the jackpot when they chance upon a car that has been well maintained and managed – and with less than 10,000 km on the odometer sold at a low price.
However, there are used cars that even go beyond their book value simply because they were formerly owned by famous celebrities – like athletes, actors or actresses, singers, talk show hosts, local heroes or even politicians. Fans and collectors would surely line up to get such vehicles even at a price higher than their book values.
But what if that car used to ferry the current top man of the Russian Federation in his first term as the second president of the country? As the private seller (a certain Sergei Urov) claims, this GUARD Mercedes-Benz S600 Pullman used to be one of the rides of current Russia President of Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. And this limousine-type vehicle is being sold at mobile.de -- which tags itself as the largest online vehicle market in Germany – for a whopping $1.3 million, which could be around ten times than the normal worth of a car of this type.Read the entire article Mercedes-Benz S600 Pullman Guard used by Vladimir Putin is for sale online

How would a Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet look like once German tuner Carlsson does its work over this premium car? Well, the people at Carlsson got a Mercedes S 500 Convertible and gave it a number of modifications that it referred to as the Diospyros package.
One of the most glaring revisions made on the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet is the exterior color wrapping its metal sheet. Diospyros is wrapped in a light mint green color that Carlsson has dubbed as "Carlsson Heritage Green." This modern mono-color paint, which was developed by Carlsson in collaboration with Standox color specialists, produces a golden shimmer when it is exposed to sunlight.
This Carlsson Heritage Green is accentuated by a piano lacquer finish in multiple parts like the car’s grille and bars. Another visual revision made on the Diospyros could be seen on the front end of the car – a diamond grille with Carlsson’s stallion logo.Read the entire article Carlsson presents minty-green Diospyros version of Mercedes-Benz S 500 Convertible
The last time that BMW produced the 8-Series was in 1999. This two-door coupe belonged to the grand tourer class and combined speed, style, safety, and comfort. Powered by a V8 or V12 engine, the BMW 8 Series represented a new class targeted towards a different market. It offered a better performance but fetched a higher price than the BMW 6 series. No thanks to falling sales, BMW had decided scrap off the 8 Series in 1999. While BMW resurrected the 6 Series in 2003 and is still producing it, it has yet to revive the 8 Series.
However, there have been reports that BMW is digging the graveyard to resurrect the 8 Series, which is its biggest two-door ever made. Even though sales of premium coupe models have not been as good as before, BMW is hell-bent on reviving the 8 Series and is using the 7 Series platform as its base. There could be good reasons for that.
Well, the BMW 6 Series has been too weak to compete against the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe. Right now, anything that BMW is throwing against the S-Class Coupe is not serious enough to steal sales from Mercedes. This could be because the 6 Series could be considered more of a sports car than a luxury grand tourer. Likewise, in terms of prestige and spaciousness, the 6-Series pales compared to the S-Class.Read the entire article BMW 8-Series to arrive in 2018, will try to match Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe
Late last year, Mercedes-Benz introduced the open variant of their S-class coupe which Daimler board member Ola Källenius describes as a symbol of their passion for individual and timeless mobility that the German automaker has since shared with their customers. The S-Class Cabriolet shows the same distinctive Sonderklasse elegance as that of its coupe.
As cool as the S-Class Cabrio may be, German auto tuner Brabus proves that the open variant S-Class still has a lot of room for improvement. S-Class Cabrio owners may now opt to upgrade their convertibles to an even powerful Brabus 850 6.0 Biturbo Cabrio option.
The Brabus 850 6.0 Biturbo Cabrio option as we have mentioned, is based on Mercedes-Benz’ current S-Class Cabriolet. Unlike the standard convertible S-Class, this modified S-Class Cabrio will come with a 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine. The 850 on its name symbolizes the power that this modified S-Class Cabrio possesses. Its twin-turbocharged V8 engine can actually produce 850 ponies and a torque output of 1,069 lb.-ft. That’s quite powerful for a drop-top S-Class, don’t you think?Read the entire article Brabus 850 6.0 Biturbo Cabrio tuning package now available for Mercedes-AMG S63 Convertible
With Mercedes-Benz massively dominating the super-luxury segment -- EUR150,000 ($170,000) and over -- with its Maybach version of the S-Class, BMW cannot just sit idly and watch its rival hog all the sales. BMW development chief Klaus Froehlich disclosed that BMW will soon have credible offers at this price bracket.
While BMW surely wants to earn the lucrative margins that Mercedes makes from sales of the Maybach, its new luxury car should still have attributes like any of its vehicles. According to Froehlich, BMW wouldn't need to stretch the car by another meter or two just to post higher sales revenue.
He said that BMW wouldn’t copy what its rivals do with their offerings – making the car measure 4 or 5 wheelbases in length with varying thick chrome packages. As it is, BMW is dominating the lower end of the luxury car market by offering vehicles with sporty genes like the 3 series.Read the entire article BMW is readying new product to rival Mercedes-Maybach S-Class
