Audi e-tron Vision Gran Turismo jumps from virtual game to Formula E as race taxi

Audi’s e-tron Vision Gran Turismo is an all-electric concept car that resides in the world of virtual reality. More specifically, it is one of the cars that could be played in the popular PlayStation game “Gran Turismo.” Now, it is possible to see the Audi e-tron Vision Gran Turismo concept car in real life, when you watch Formula E races.

A result of the collaboration between Audi and Gran Turismo creators Sony and Polyphony Digital, the Audi e-tron Vision Gran Turismo was created by talented Audi designers exclusively for the “Vision Gran Turismo” contest that was part of the 15th anniversary celebrations of the Gran Turismo. Are you a hypercar enthusiast? If you are, then this story might catch your attention. If you have unlimited cash to burn, one of the most expensive cars you could bring home is a Bugatti Veyron. Or the Bugatti Chiron might be more to your liking. But don’t forget that there is also the extremely rare Vision GT.

Because of how incredible this hypercar is, we just have to show you a video of its delivery to a collector based in Los Angeles. This one-off Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo first made its appearance in 2015. From looking at its design, you would be able to tell that it got some of its inspiration from the Bugatti Type 57G, which is a two-time Le Mans 24 Hour winner. Under the hood of this super rare model is a W16 engine that produces an impressive 1,650 horsepower (1,230 kilowatts) and 1,165 pound-feet (1,230 kilowatts) of torque.

The very first owner of this Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo was Saudi Arabian Prince Badr bin Saud. He then sold it to the new owner who is based in LA. As you heard in the video, this is the one and only Bugatti Vision GT that has reached the US soil, and it will be sitting in its new owner’s garage alongside a Porsche P1, Ferrari LaFerrari and a one-of-twenty Lamborghini Centenario. Undeniably, the Vision GT comes with stunning bodywork and a dramatic engine, as well as a few other outstanding features to take note of.

The new McLaren Ultimate Vision Gran Turismo has quite impressive specifications, giving out as much as 1,150 horsepower with its unique hybrid setup.

This model was made specially for the upcoming Gran Turismo Sport video game. Under the hood is a 4.0-liter V8 engine by McLaren that has been taken from the 720S. In the virtual world, the Ultimate Vision GT had been given two front wheels on both the front wheels. Thanks to its hybrid powertrain, it gets an impressive torque of 1,275 Newton metres (940 pound-feet).

The Ultimate Vision GT is not all about its four-digit horsepower and torque, and its all-wheel-drive setup. Physically, it looks like it teleported from the future to the present time. Its design is like one of McLaren’s vision of a high performance model for the year 2030 and beyond. In the video game, players will be able to drive the car with three available configurations, including Performance, Ulterior and Noir. Each configuration also looks incredibly unique in their own way. We think that the Noir is the best looking version with its blacked out livery, but there’s actually no clear winner as each variant is outstanding.

Alpine Vision Gran Turismo will soon no longer be a virtual car that only runs in the world of PlayStation’s Gran Turismo game. In July 2013, Polyphony Digital Inc., developers of the game, made a proposal to create a new ‘virtual’ car, and Alpine teams focused on the new project with same passion, and enthusiasm as they would when creating a new road car – leading to the Alpine of the 21st Century concept.

In a statement, Alpine said that designers and engineers involved in the project were given that task of creating a car that expresses the spirit of the Alpine brand, which should be visible in its styling, and performance – both behind the wheel, or a DualShock PlayStation controller.

Alpine said players will find the same agility that helped forge the legend of the original cars build by founder Jean Rédélé. “The Alpine Vision Gran Turismo stands at the crossroads of the past, present and future, at the frontier between motorsport and road cars,” Alpine said, adding that the concept provides a link between the virtual and real worlds.

The thrill-seeking and highly popular PlayStation 3 racing game Gran Turismo 6 (GT6) will soon have a new GT racer from the United Kingdom on its virtual tracks – the Aston Martin DP-100 Vision Gran Turismo. GT6 gamers would be able to download the Aston Martin DP-100 Vision Gran Turismo in July 2014, following its global debut at the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The DP-100 Vision Gran Turismo was developed in-house by Aston Martin’s design team headed by Design Director Marek Reichman. Aston Martin’s design team and design engineers started with the traditional 'blank sheet of paper' and toiled for six months to create the DP-100. They managed to create an Aston Martin that goes beyond the boundaries, with elegant looks and a high degree of engineering integrity. Since the GT6 is a high-octane virtual game, Aston Martin gave the DP-100 a powerful twin-turbo V12 engine that could deliver up to 800 bhp.

Interestingly, Aston Martin created the DP-100 employing the same techniques it usually applies when developing production sports cars, such as hand sketches and 3D modeling. Now fully realized in the virtual world, the highly detailed DP-100 comes with state-of-the-art electronics and a fully functioning suspension system.

The Nissan Concept 2020 Vision Gran Turismo – representing the carmaker’s supercar vision – has moved from being a virtual model for the PlayStation3 Gran Turismo 6 to a full size concept model. Nissan will unveil the concept at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the United Kingdom on June 26, 2014.

The concept started as a dream project for Nissan’s young designers who were given the liberty to build their vision of a perfect supercar for their Gran Turismo fantasy garage. What caught the eye of the carmaker was a design from a team at Nissan Design Europe, moving the brand to have its own engineering team from Japan take part in its conception.

The Nissan Concept 2020 Vision Gran Turismo featured design cues from current Nissan performance models. The makers of Gran Turismo 6 asked carmakers featured in the game to create their dream cars to celebrate its 15th anniversary.
