MINI USA has just announced that the 2014 MINI Hardtop will have a starting price of $19,950, plus a $795 destination and handling charge. For those who don’t know, the 2014 MINI Cooper is powered by a 1.5-liter three-cylinder petrol engine that generates 134 hp and 220 Nm (230 Nm with the overboost function) of torque.
Meanwhile, the 2014 MINI Cooper S starts at $23,600 plus a $795 destination and handling charge. This model is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine rated at 189 hp and 280 Nm (306 Nm with overboost function) of torque.
MINI USA revealed that it had set the price for its 2014 MINI Hardtop with the Cooper base model at $19,950 and the Cooper S at $23,600. There are reports saying that the next-generation Mini is almost getting the green light for production. It has received a new exterior design and still based on the current model and is anticipated to arrive by 2011.

Finally! Bmw Group unveiled today the Mini E, becoming the first manufacturer of premium automobiles deploy a fleet of some 500 all-electric vehicles for private use in daily traffic. The new Mini E will be available only in the US states of California, New York and Jersey but according to the manufacturer a European debut is also considered.

Previously only speculation but now has become confirmation as Mini removes the wraps off of its latest special edition John Cooper Works (JCW) Mini to mark its 50th anniversary together with the 1959 and 1960 achievements of the John Copper in the F1 World Championships.
The newest JCW, which will go through a limited production run, will be sold solely in British Racing Green, in keeping with the original vehicles, and is patterned after an identical core found in the JCW edition presently being offered for sale.

Due to some error by the German carmaker BMW about two-thirds of those who bought the new Mini E EVs cannot charge their cars higher than the regular 110V household power outlet. Charging the Mini E's batteries this way can take up to 23 hours before it can be fully charged.
There are only 23 units delivered so far although BMW intends to complete the distribution of 300 Mini E cars by the end of this month.

The wraps around the new Mini John Cooper Works World Championship 50 special edition was removed several weeks ago during the commemoration of its 50th anniversary. Reports have been emerging saying that the German carmaker BMW is seriously contemplating a new extremely high-end Mini that will be re-trimmed by the Goodwood facility of Rolls-Royce. The planned Rolls-Royce-trimmed Mini is not a one-off but a recent test car designed to be an established premium custom variant of the Mini.
Customers will be provided an opportunity to select their own interior trim and dashboard elements inside the Rolls Royce factory after which they can receive the completed customized car. It comes as a surprise that the main complaint of Mini E drivers is due not to the range but with the size of the battery pack. This is of course, aside from the complaints over the range meter that becomes problematic in cold weather. The University of California-Davis asked 57 Mini E drivers about their experiences in using the electric Mini in everyday life.
Average trip length is recorded to be about 30 miles, which fits in perfectly with the car's range.

BMW has taken its MINI E all-electric hatchback to the Nurburgring. The circuit has taken on the likes of the Corvette ZR1, Nissan GT-R, and Pagani Zonda F but today, BMW's electrically powered car, the MINI E, impressed with a single lap finished in 9m 51.45s. It was also able to hit a top speed of 116 mph. Former DTM racing driver Thomas Jager from Munich was behind the wheel of this electric racer.
Jager said that it's the first time that he has driven on this circuit in "such an extraordinary car." Jager said that the power of the electric motor has "an incredible effect," since its full reserves of torques can be accessed at any time. A power enhancement program for the MINI Cooper S and Cooper S JCW is now available. Nowack Motors, the German-based aftermarket expert that specializes in BMW cars, offers three power stages: N210, N230 and N260. This name indicates the output of the particular power package.
The Nowack MINI Cooper S, which is fitted with N210, delivers an output of 210hp. This is accomplished through individually re-programmed ECU software and a free flow air filter.
