Mitsubishi is all set to unveil the first of its next generation of vehicles at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show next month – a still unnamed compact sports utility vehicle. But even before that important unwrapping, Mitsubishi intends to keep matters fresh by unveiling a limited edition of its Outlander Sport SUV at the 2017 Chicago Auto Show.
The new Outlander Sport Limited Edition builds on the equipment and features found in the ES model, but adds a couple of enhancements both in terms of style and technology. Enhancements implemented on the exterior of the Outlander Sport Limited Edition include HID headlamps and fog lamps, as well as alloy fuel door, black painted door mirrors. Also added on the feature list of the Outlander Sport Limited Edition are 18-inch alloy wheels and a rear view camera as well as a Limited Edition badge. All exterior colors available for the Outlander Sport could be specified for the Limited Edition model.
Inside, the new Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Limited Edition features a custom designed cabin, as marked by black fabric and red stitching on the steering wheel, aluminum pedals and heated front seats. In addition, the carmaker throws in trim-exclusive shift knob and brake lever exclusive for the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Limited Edition. In addition to these interior elements, the new Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Limited Edition is also provided with a display audio system with Smartphone Link for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.Read the entire article Mitsubishi unveils Outlander Sport Limited Edition at 2017 Chicago Auto Show

These include a redesign in the front fascia/grille areas of the vehicle. The redesign now implements Mitsubishi’s Dynamic Shield design concept for the front portions of the Outlander Sport.
According to MMNA’s executive vice president Don Swearingen, the 2016 Outlander Sport will continue to build on its reputation of being a reliable crossover SUV (CUV) that delivers good value that its predecessors have made.Read the entire article 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport unveiled at LA Auto Show

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety handed “Top Safety Pick+” honors to the Subaru Forester and Mitsubishi Outlander Sport after the small sport utility vehicles aced the group’s "small overlap" crash test. In fact, the Forester and the Outlander Sport were the only small SUVs that sailed through the innovative small overlap crash test, in which the front corner of a vehicle on the driver's side collides against a five-foot-tall barrier at 40 mph.
The redesigned 2014 Subaru Forester received “Top Safety Pick+” honors after getting a "good" rating on the test. Joe Nolan, vice president for vehicle research at IIHS, said in a statement that the Subaru's engineers succeeded in doing well in the new test with the redesigned Forester.
Nolan remarked that this is exactly how IIHS hoped carmakers would respond to improve protection for people in these types of serious frontal crashes. The IIHS said that 20 vehicles have now received Top Safety Pick+ accolades for safety in small overlap crashes.Read the entire article Small SUVs from Subaru and Mitsubishi given Top Safety Pick+ by IIHS
The U.S.-built Outlander Sport experienced an over 77% year-over-year increase in April with 2,111 units sold, according to Mitsubishi Motors North America. This is the third-highest-ever total monthly sales of Outlander Sport. It’s also the eighth straight month of sales increases for the fuel-efficient CUV.
Outlander Sport sales achieved an increase of over 41% year to date. MMNA President & CEO Yoichi Yokozawa said that he is “pleased” with how people have responded to its limited edition Outlander Sport model, which celebrates 30 years of Mitsubishi sales in the U.S. and 25 years of production in Normal, Illinois.
Outlander Sport has a starting MSRP of slightly more than $19,000. Yokozawa thinks that the crossover attracts customers due to its price as well as its high fuel-efficiency and a broad range of standard features.Read the entire article April 2013 was the best month for Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, as sales increase 77 percent
With the discontinuation of Suzuki’s operations in the U.S., Mitsubishi isn’t daunted and has pledged to remain in the U.S. market in spite of its widening inventory, plunging sales, and dearth of new products. However, Mitsubishi has announced that it seeks to launch two new vehicles -- the 2014 Outlander SUV and a new Limited Edition trim level for its 2013 Outlander Sport CUV -- at the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show.
The 2014 Outlander made its debut at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. It was actually available for sale at the Japanese domestic market for a short period in conventional gas-burning form. A plug-in hybrid is in development.
Mitsubishi has set some grand goals by indicating that the Outlander will have the fuel economy of a compact CUV while also being a seven-seater as standard. It appears that Mitsubishi is hoping to achieve a 30-mpg highway rating but it hasn’t been figured out just what features the Outlander will have to attain this.Read the entire article 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander, 2013 Outlander Sport Limited Edition coming to LA Auto Show
As part of Mitsubishi Motors Corp.’s plan to eventually double the output of the plant in Normal, Illinois, and make it into an export hub, it has started to produce the Outlander Sport compact sport utility vehicle there. In a statement, Mitsubishi said that it hopes to increase the plant’s output by 60% to 50,000 vehicles in the first year, compared to the 31,000 built in 2011.
Mitsubishi’s spokesman said that the global Outlander Sport model joined the Galant, Endeavor and other vehicles built particularly for North America. The company said that about 50% of the plant's total output would be exported to markets like Russia, Latin America and the Middle East. The automaker said that the 2013 Outlander will arrive in U.S. dealerships in early August.
Mitsubishi Motors predicts that annual production will later increase to 70,000 vehicles, or 100% of capacity, using the present work force of the plant. When the Illinois plant was at its peak, it had the capacity to produce 200,000 vehicles a year on two lines. Mitsubishi Motors’ sales in developed markets had been falling. Just last week, it revealed that it is selling its NedCar factory in the Netherlands to VDL Group, a local bus maker, for only 1 euro.Read the entire article 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport production kicks off in Normal, Illinois
