2018 SEMA Show: Nissan to display five one-off vehicles including a 370Z Project Clubsport 23

The 2018 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas is about to start and Nissan won't itself be outdone by other carmakers. In fact, Nissan will be gracing the 2018 SEMA Show with five one-off vehicles, including a 400-hp Nissan Motorsports Project Clubsport 23 that combines the latest technology with the Z heritage aesthetics.

Leading the charge for the Japanese carmaker is the Nissan Motorsports Project Clubsport 23 project car that combines a number of OEM, aftermarket and bespoke fabricated parts. A track-only project car, the Project Clubsport 23 makes use of performance parts that have been tested and developed in Motorsports, as sourced from most respected suppliers. As Nissan Motorsports and MA Motorsports intended, the Project Clubsport 23 is an ongoing parts development platform, which means its looks might be different months from the 2018 SEMA Show.

The Nissan Motorsports Project Clubsport 23 was based on a 2012 Nissan 370Z NISMO deprived of its original 350-hp 3.7-liter VQ37VHR engine. In its stead is a factory 400-hp 3.0-liter VR30DDTT twin-turbo V6 mill. The main challenge in the project car was how to mate a VR30DDTT engine to the 370Z NISMO's six-speed manual transmission – something that has never been done before. To achieve this MA Motorsports developed a new clutch disc, cover and flywheel assembly and installed a NISMO GT LSD Pro-Carbon two-way differential cooled by an MA Motorsports Differential Cooler.

Nissan design chief confirms 370Z successor is on the works

October 2019 is an important month for Nissan. It marks the 50th anniversary of the legendary 240Z, which is the original Z model from the Japanese carmaker. As part of the celebrations, Nissan is planning to unveil a new Z car – in prototype form -- at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show, which coincides with the 50th year of the very first Z model.

This was basically confirmed by Alfonso Albaisa, Nissan’s Senior Vice President for Global Design, during an interview with Whichcar.com.au. Before this confirmation, there had been rumors that Nissan is planning a replacement for the 370Z, which has been in production since nearly 10 years ago. This decade-old two-seater rear-wheel-drive coupe is considered as one of the oldest sports car available in the market. A replacement would hardly surprise anyone, but back then, Nissan had yet to confirm anything.

During an interview with Whichcar.com.au, Albaisa remarked that is a huge pressure in creating a new Z car, adding that he is completely excited that he is in the position to work on the newest Z model. His statement essentially confirmed the rumors and the possibility of a new Z car. This also confirmed that no less than Nissan’s Senior Vice President for Global Design is involved in the project. Nonetheless, many are thrilled that the 370Z won't be continued as another version – instead a new Z car is really on the way. Expect a new Z prototype at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show.

This insane Nissan 370Zki snowmobile will be presented at the 2018 Chicago Auto Show

The latest teaser Nissan showed us had an image of the snowy mountains with an audio of what we thought was the 370Z’s engine sound. To cap off the teaser, it was introduced as the 370Zki. Well, if you want to see this Nissan snowmobile for yourself, check out this two-door snowmobile at the 2018 Chicago Auto Show. And before you get too excited, we will already tell you that this is not for sale.

Having said that, it does not mean that it is impossible for you to customize one, it’s just that it may be quite difficult and impractical. To do this, you will have to order tracks and skis from American Track Truck. And then a highly capable person should be able to attach it to a tiny sports car. That’s where it becomes tricky. For this unit, the entire driveline had to be scrapped.

This process involves lifting the car by three inches all around, which needed a custom lift kit. But even that was not enough space for the tracks that measure four feet on the ground. Of course, other necessary things like custom mounts for the rear springs, and three-inch wheel spacers were added to get the tracks away from the car. Both the exhaust and the brake lines were rerouted, while the rear wheel wells were modified so the tracks won’t chew up the body. All that change was just for the back.

Updated 2018 Nissan 370Z now available with new infotainment unit, red metallic paint

The 370Z is one of Nissan’s oldest two-door models. It was first introduced to us back in 2009 and this year, the Japanese automaker finally gave it an upgrade for the 2018 model year to give it a much-needed contemporary finish.

Naturally, it will get exterior and interior changes, as well as some technological upgrades. For instance, the door handles and the rear bumper fascia will now be finished in black. Furthermore, the headlights will be getting a darker tint treatment similar to the rear combination lights on the outgoing model, which used to only be available on the Nismo model.

2018 Nissan 370Z will now be riding on a set of 19-inch alloy wheels instead of the 18-inch set found in its predecessor. As you can see in the photo, the Nissan model is finished in a Red Metallic exterior paint that is now an option that customers can select.

Amid the excitement related to the solar eclipse, Nissan revealed two of its pickups, both in a special edition livery. Instead of waiting for auto shows, Nissan chose to debut its new models in the United States on this auspicious day. The Japanese manufacturer has not introduced new models. Instead, it unveiled a Midnight Edition for the following models: Titan, Titan XD, and the Frontier.

For the Midnight Edition, expect to see a blacked out version of the cars. To be more specific, the Titan model will now get a black front grille, headlight surrounds, foglight trim. And for the Titan XD, it gets additional blacked out fender louvers too. Smaller details like the mirror caps, door handles, badges and step rails also get a darker shadow like shade too. Other than that, they will now have a set of black painted 20-inch wheels to complete the midnight look. If you are not a big fan of all-black cars and would rather see some contrast, you can order the car in a different finish such as Gun Metallic gray and Pearl White.

The Midnight Edition package is not just limited to the car’s exterior. In the cabin, you will find Charcoal black accents together with black floor mats.

A new body configuration will be added to Nissan’s Titan and Titan XD large pickup trucks starting in the 2017 model year. The Japanese carmaker announced at the 2017 Chicago Auto Show that its Crew Cab and Single Cab body configurations for the Titan and Titan XD are now joined by the new King Cab body.

With the announcement, Nissan’s Titan and Titan XD lineup is now available in three cabs and three bed length configurations. Both the Titan King Cab and Titan XD King Cab are available in either 4x4 and 4x2 drive. Three grade levels -- S, SV and PRO-4X – are also offered.

The King Cab configuration is basically a cross between the Crew Cab and Single Cab. Its cabin is smaller than on the Crew Cab but is still larger than the Single Cab. Moreover, the King Cab still offers seating for rear passengers, just like the Crew Cab. According to Nissan, the King Cab version of the half-ton Titan and the three-quarter ton Titan XD will be able to accommodate up to six occupants – three in the somewhat cramp rear cabin and another three on the front row. The front row usually seats two – the driver and a passenger.

As it is, the new Nissan Titan XD Pro-4X pickup truck is already a mean machine ready to take on anything on the road or even off it. But of course, a customer could always make the Nissan Titan XD Pro-4X pickup truck much meaner and more full of character – by availing of Nissan Genuine Parts and Accessories as well as aftermarket components.

To show how customers could spice up the meaningful character of the Nissan Titan XD Pro-4X, the Japanese carmaker – through its Nissan Motorsports division -- is bringing the pickup truck to the 2017 Chicago Auto Show. However, this pickup truck – a 2017 Nissan Titan XD Pro-4X Crew Cab in Super Black finish -- has been configured and modified with Nissan Genuine Parts and Accessories and available aftermarket parts. Dubbed as the new Motorsports Titan XD, this modified Nissan Titan XD Pro-4X is also outfitted with a prototype suspension kit and exhaust system.

Dubbed as the new Motorsports Titan XD, this tweaked pickup truck will be fully shown to the public at Chicago's McCormick Place from February 11 to 20, 2017.

Nissan has taken the veils off the new 2017 TITAN Crew Cab at the 2016 New York Auto Show. This latest version of the TITAN – to be sold starting summer 2016 -- will be powered by 5.6-liter Endurance V8 gasoline engine that develops 390 hp and is mated to a seven-speed automatic gearbox.

This Nissan engine will also power the Nissan TITAN XD V8 Gas and the 2017 Armada. Nissan will later equip the 2017 TITAN with a V6 gasoline engine. The Japanese carmaker plans to commence sales of the 2017 TITAN in the late summer of 2016 as a Crew Cab model.

The 2017 Nissan TITAN will later be available on Single and King Cab variants. Underpinned by a chassis separate from TITAN XD, the TITAN is around 14.7 inches shorter (at 228.1 inches in length) but is just as wide at 79.5 inches.

With a special photography release, Nissan North America, Inc. focuses the attention on the upcoming standard/half-ton version of TITAN at the 2016 Chicago Auto Show. This move follows on the success of the redefined TITAN lineup's flagship XD unit.

According to Nissan Director of Product Planning for Trucks, SUVs, and Commercial Vehicles and Chief Product Specialist for TITAN and TITAN XD Rich Miller, there is a strong resemblance between the TITAN and the TITAN XD especially because of their rugged exterior styling.

The difference between the two is that the former will mostly compete in the full-size pickup segment while the latter is widely intended to bridge the capability gap between traditional half-ton and heavy-duty pickups. Miller added that the overall market for full-size trucks will be composed of 85 percent TITAN and TITAN XD.

How the new 2015 Nissan 370Z NISMO made its global debut is quite unusual as its arrival at ZDAYZ came as a surprise. Everyone was astonished as it was unveiled at this yearly event attended by those who either own or are fans of Nissan, Datsun and NISMO vehicles.

The mood at the gathering turned into a frenzy when the new 370Z NISMO model was shown and especially when its specs were announced. Aside from the improvements inside and outside, it came with a broader lineup that includes new 370Z NISMO Tech grade as well as both 6-speed manual and 7-speed automatic transmissions.

Nissan Chief Planning Officer and Executive Vice President Andy Palmer said that the decision to have its world debut in front of this crowd composed of its “most loyal and enthusiast owners” was only fitting because the brand considers NISMO to be the “heart and soul” of its performance whether it’s driving on the track or on the road.

Black Friday is typically a special day to go shopping. For drift fans, however, it was a special day to watch some spectacular drifts done by champion drift drivers. On that day, Hoonigan and Nissan flocked to the abandoned Hawthorne Mall near Los Angeles to perform some awe-inspiring drifts that left fans mesmerized.

Through Hoonigan's "Black Friday" and Nissan's "Black Friday 360 Experience, people witnessed the drifting performances of two-time Formula Drift Champion Chris Forsberg and Ryan Tuerck in their 1000 hp Nissan 370Z's. In particular, the Black Friday 360 Experience had some scary yet amazing moments.

One of these was when Forsberg swerved the back of the Nissan 370Z on the ledge of a 30-foot drop. He remarked that while he could mentally block out the drop, he was really concerned about the surface, which was dusty and was made of polished concrete.

Nissan North America and Cummins have unveiled the latest speed-record challenger at the 2015 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show. This vehicle is the MY2016 Nissan Titan XD powered by Cummins 5.0L V8 Turbo Diesel.

However, the truck is still under development through "Project Triple Nickel," a moniker that refers to the 555 lb.-ft. torque rating of a stock Titan XD.

Cummins and Nissan North America commenced making modifications on the 2016 Titan XD weeks ago, and those revisions included the installation of a special lowered suspension, Mickey Thompson tires, an Ultra Shield seat, salt-flat style disc wheel covers and a Stroud Safety parachute.

Nissan will make an explosive appearance at this year’s Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas. The carmaker is set to debut a trio of 2016 Nissan TITAN XD units and the 2016 GT-R NISMO N-Attack Package for the GT-R Nismo.

The three Titan XD 2016 models include a bespoke model that was designed by Nissan in cooperation with SEMA itself. The collaboration resulted from a “measuring session” that SEMA and Nissan undertook early this year, and involved a PRO-4X model that was later on modified by SEMA.

Nissan had the truck conveyed to SEMA’s main base in Diamond Bar, California in September, and it was since customized extensively by the Association. Unlike the other two models, this bespoke model will take a place in the show’s Grand Lobby.

Nissan’s big surprise for the 2015 Chicago Auto Show was the 370 NISMO Roadster Concept, a vehicle that previews an open-top version of the 370 NISMO Coupe. Compared to the coupe, the 370 Nismo Roadster Concept shows the same design with a deep front fascia which includes Hyper LED Daytime Running Lights, Black headlight bezels, a NISMO emblem as well as the NISMO red stripe accents.

From the side, we can see the NISMO red accents, the red sideview mirror covers and the top-down profile. The fixed headrest bars are located in the middle of the vehicle and are wrapped in leather with red accents.

The rear end features a custom carbon-fiber rear spoiler, while the power-folding roof with fabric inner liner design completed the design. Moreover, the concept uses 19-inch NISMO forged aluminum-alloy wheels by RAYS, wrapped in Y-rated Bridgeston Potenza S001.

Nissan is confident that the newly unveiled MY2016 Titan will allow it to capture 5 percent of the full-size pickup market, although the carmaker’s head in the United States believes that it could gain more. Jose Munoz, chairman of Nissan North America, remarked that 5 percent is the basis for the carmaker’s investment and any less that rate would be considered as “not very successful.”

Munoz quipped at the J.D. Power Automotive Summit that the 5-percent target is a modest aspiration. A 5% share of the full-size pickup market in 2014 would mean selling around 100,000 trucks, while Nissan also sold fewer than 13,000 Titans that year.

During the summit, Munoz said Nissan targets sales of around 100,000 Titans. Nissan actually sold around 85,000 Titans in its first two years of sales in 2004 and 2005, but the volume has since dropped due to a number of reasons like the lack of a fresh and appealing replacement.
