2017 Nissan Juke Black Pearl Edition is launched at 2016 LA Auto Show

Japanese carmaker Nissan is greeting 2017 with a new special edition of its Juke subcompact crossover – the 2017 Nissan Juke Black Pearl Edition. Nissan has been keeping the Juke fresh since it was launched in the market in 2011, and the latest limited edition version of this crossover does not only accentuate its bold and extroverted nature, but also represents how far a customer could go with the carmaker’s Juke Color Studio personalization program.

Just like its name clearly indicates, the 2017 Nissan Juke Black Pearl Edition carries a dark exterior, deriving its names from a limited edition 1978 280Z model also dubbed as “Black Pearl.” Specifically, it is a well-equipped JUKE SV in either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive and finished in Super Black exterior color with Pearl White exterior accents. Of course, the special edition features a number of revisions like white outside trim rings on its headlights as well as white bumper accents.

It also features white door handles and white caps for its heated exterior rearview mirrors. Additionally, the 2017 Nissan Juke Black Pearl Edition is provided with white rear spoiler and white accents on the rear bumper. It rides on exclusive Super Black-painted 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels wrapped in 215/55R17 all- season tires. Topping off the SUV’s exclusive look is a special Black Pearl Edition badge.

Nissan Kicks Concept thought to replace the Juke

When Nissan unveiled the attention-getter Kicks compact crossover concept at the Sao Paulo International Motor Show, the American press could not help but speculate that this model provides a glimpse of the replacement for the Nissan Juke.

Well, it has been four years since Nissan unveiled the Juke at the 2010 Geneva auto show, which means that a concept previewing its replacement should not come as a surprise. In fact, the Kicks offers some similarities with the Juke – almost the same proportions, short overhangs, a tall shoulder line, generous ground clearance and a relatively small cargo area.

However, the concept is flashier than the Juke, thanks to its bold accent colors in the wheels and on the roof. Likewise, the Kicks is bigger than the Juke, boasts of an all-wheel drive system and is powered by a turbocharged engine – seemingly fitting for customers in Brazil and Latin America.

Infiniti released the first teasers of its Juke-based ESQ crossover back in June but no more details were released. Today however, the first photos with the Infiniti ESQ emerged on the Web and we must admit that we do like the vehicle as it comes with a premium feel.

Although the original shape of the Nissan Juke is retained, the ESQ arrives with a brand new grille featuring the centered ‘ESQ’ lettering, black covers for the exterior mirrors, a new front lip spoiler, new rocker panels as well as a redesigned rear bumper with integrated air diffuser and exhaust tip.

The design is completed by the new multi-spoke alloy wheels. Inside, we find a brand new multifunctional leather-wrapped steering wheel fitted with the Infiniti badge, leather sport seats and white stitching.

In an attempt to steal some sales from the Nissan Juke, Hyundai will roll out a subcompact crossover. Set to hit the dealerships by 2017, the new vehicle will follow the same path as the Veloster as it will be designed for Gen Y a.k.a. first-time younger buyers.

Hyundai already showed the Curb Concept back in 2011 at the Detroit Auto Show and said that the vehicle was designed for Generation Y living an urban lifestyle with an active night life.

The concept looked really good but so far we didn’t see a production version, which means that Hyundai might delay it or build a new one.

We already knew that Infiniti was planning a new crossover based on the Nissan Juke but nothing was officially confirmed. Until today, when several photos showing a new crossover from Infiniti based on the Nissan Juke design, emerged on the web.

Dubbed Infiniti ESQ, the new crossover comes with a new front grille that features the ‘ESQ’ lettering as well as stylish 18-inch alloy wheels and gloss black side sills.

From the photo showing the front grille we can easily observe the Nissan Juke design, which means that we expect the two vehicles to be very similar. The only difference will be the premium feel delivered by the Infiniti ESQ.

The refreshed Nissan Juke could be availed for a starting price of £13,420 when it arrives in dealerships in June 2014. Nissan has disclosed both pricing and specs of the refreshed mini crossover. The new Juke will boast of new technology and styling features and a new engine line-up.

Likewise, customers could now customize their own Jukes by building on the specs of the Visia, Acenta, Acenta Premium and Tekna grades. Its 2WD will also feature a 40-percent surge in luggage space. Despite these upgrades, the pricing of the Nissan Juke remains competitive, giving the mini crossover further advantage against rivals.

The 1.6 94PS Visia grade – the entry level unit – could be availed at just £13,420, making the new Juke Visia as affordable while boasting of an extensive list of standard equipment like 16” alloys, air conditioning, a CD system with an AUX-IN link for MP3 players, front and rear electric windows, tire pressure monitoring system and daytime running lights.

Nissan unveiled yesterday at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show the 2015 Juke Facelift. Still, that wasn’t the only surprise from Switzerland as Nissan also brought the 2015 Juke Nismo RS Facelift. After reading the press release we noticed that the Nismo RS’s advanced 1.6-litre DIG-T engine received a power boost of 18 hp.

As a result, it now delivers 218 hp (160 hp), while torque in two-wheel drive/manual transmission versions is increased from an already healthy 250Nm to 280Nm. Due to the torque increase, the 2WD models benefit from the addition of a mechanical Limited Slip Differential on the driven front wheels. Meanwhile, four-wheel drive versions have Torque Vectoring, Nissan's Xtronic transmission and 250 Nm of torque.

Nissan also added as standard steering wheel-mounted paddle shifts to control the eight-speed manual mode. Power increase means nothing without a proper sound and that’s why Nissan added a retuned exhaust system that delivers a better engine sound thanks to a larger diameter muffler.

Residents of Carmarthen, Wales were star-struck to see a Batman-inspired Nissan Juke Nismo driving across town road. After all, one of them got lucky enough to win the very special one-off Dark Knight Rises Juke Nismo. Following a drive across the town, the Batman-inspired Juke Nismo and the famous Tumbler were parked in front of Carmarthen Castle, where keys to the “Batmobile” were handed to local baker and competition winner Adam Williams.

Nissan has started to produce the new Juke Nismo at its state-of-the-art factory in Sunderland, UK. The first of the new Nismo models was integrated into the existing production line by its very skilled engineering and manufacturing teams. Because of Nissan's advanced assembly operation, the process is smooth and there have been no delays or special day-to-day provisions.

But because of the Juke Nismo’s prominent design features, the plant had to have several modifications. For example, it had to make provisions for the production of the distinctive front and rear bumpers as well as other features of the new, more aerodynamic body. In addition, this car, which is offered in Storm White, also utilizes the highly advanced paint facility of the Sunderland plant.

Since the Juke was launched in 2010, the factory has built over 330,000 units. The Note, Qashqai and Qashqai+2 are also built at this plant. In 2012, the plant set a record of having built 510,000 units. It surpassed its former record of 480,000 in 2011. In 2010, it set a benchmark of 420,000 – the first time in history that any UK car production facility had built over 400,000 passenger vehicles annually.

A new and improved Nissan Juke Nismo is in the pipeline, according to the company. It features a better performance, improved brakes, and a more focused chassis. The 1.6-litre turbocharged engine of the Juke Nismo has been modified to develop about 20bhp higher than the standard Nismo’s 197bhp. Meanwhile, its torque will get a 20% boost to about 220lb ft.

It will be fitted with a revised suspension that comes with different springs, shock absorbers and damping rates. In addition, the car will be positioned 20mm lower than the standard Juke Nismo. This new Juke Nismo will be available with front-wheel drive with a manual transmission, while four-wheel drive will be exclusively available with models that have CVT.

Nissan said that the two Nismo models are positioned the same as the Mini Countryman Cooper S to its JCW siblings. This new car is expected to start selling by the end of 2013. The Nismo range will continue to expand with a more hardcore derivative of the 370Z. However, Nissan has yet to reveal details about this model.

Toyota is studying the prospect of creating a model that’s inspired by a decade-old concept and pitting this model against the Nissan Juke. Toyota’s California-based CALTY design studio developed the Toyota RSC — Rugged Sports Coupé. Its debut was at the 2001 Chicago motor show.

The RSC didn’t actually lead to anything but it was reassessed recently, primarily due to the international success of the Nissan Juke, which has a concept that’s similar to the RSC. There hasn’t been any final decision made yet about starting production on the RSC.

However, it’s believed that the RSC would use either the Yaris platform, which will lead to the creation of a direct rival for the Juke, or the new Auris platform, which would represent a solution to the crowded rear cabin that impairs the Juke. These two platforms offer the hybrid option that would likely perform well in the crucial Californian market.

Peugeot makes its first entry into the compact crossover market with the new Peugeot 2008 that’s set to go up against the Nissan Juke. The 208-based supermini-SUV will be launched this March at the Geneva motor show and is set to arrive in the UK this September. The 2008 will be competing with the more established models like the Juke and Mini Countryman as well as other new entries such as the Vauxhall Mokka, Ford Ecosport and Renault Captur.

Peugeot didn’t offer many details about the 2008 yet. But we do know that the car’s length is 4160mm, which makes it longer than the Juke by 25mm. The 2008’s appearance is much like the 208, with the same front grille and front and rear headlight design as the supermini. Peugeot raised the ride height and driving position.

The vehicle also features a rugged bodykit, which consists of black bumpers and sills and roof rails. The 2008 could also come with 17in alloys covered with ‘Mud&Snow’ tyres. The 2008 will only be available with front-wheel drive but it can be integrated with a clever ‘Grip Control’ traction system that gives it some off-road prowess. This system is similar to what the larger 3008 uses. Its engines will come mostly from the 208.
