It isn’t merely speculation anymore – Nissan is bringing the Qashqai mid-size crossover to the United States, but with a different name. In fact, Nissan has confirmed that this mid-size crossover will have its debut at the 2017 North American International Auto Show, widely known as the Detroit Auto Show.
As we have reported, Nissan intends for the Qashqai to fill the size gap between the smaller Juke and the larger Rogue. The addition of the Qashqai – the best-selling mid-size SUV in Europe -- as a complement to the Juke and the Rogue would allow Nissan to benefit from the seemingly insatiable hunger for SUVs in the US, where motorists have been switching from passenger cars to utility vehicles. While there is a real business case for the US launch of the Qashqai in the US, Nissan was expected to rename the SUV since American buyers might have some trouble pronouncing “Qashqai.”
Nissan did rename the Qashqai as the new Nissan Rogue Sport. Nissan eventually decided to use the Rogue moniker – with the Sport suffix – as it is already a known nameplate in the US. Mike Bunce, Nissan North America vice president of product planning, remarked that since Nissan managed to build a lot of equity on the Rogue, it only makes sense to piggyback on its popularity by renaming the Qashqai as the Rogue Sport.Read the entire article 2017 NAIAS: Nissan unveils the US-bound Qashqai as Rogue Sport
This rumor is not something new – it has been lingering since 2015 – that Japanese carmaker Nissan is bringing its Qashqai to the United States. The best-selling mid-sized crossover in Europe could be coming to American soil with a possible debut this month at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show, The Truth About Cars reports citing sources with knowledge of the matter.
Nissan has been experiencing increasing demand for the larger Rogue SUV in the US. With this, the Qashqai could be marketed in the US as a more compact and more economical version of the Rogue. In fact, the Nissan Qashqai features a number of similarities with the Rogue. While both are underpinned by the same architecture, the Qashqai is shorter than the Rogue by around 10 inches. Moreover, the wheelbase of the Qashqai is shorter than that of the Rogue by two inches. These dimensions meant that the Qashqai offers a smaller cargo space on the rear than the Rogue.
Should speculations be true, then Nissan would be able to slot the Qashqai between the Juke and the Rogue. Until now, there has been a gap between the Juke and Rogue. By introducing the Qashqai to North American customers, Nissan could effectively bridge this gap between the smaller Juke and the larger Rogue.Read the entire article 2018 Nissan Qashqai is speculated to debut at 2017 Detroit Auto Show

Nissan is considering a plan to build a sportier version of its Qashqai compact crossover that will target the Range Rover Evoque. Marco Fioravanti, Nissan Europe's general manager for product planning and strategy, remarked that the coupe-styled version of the Qashqai could capture the attention of consumers in Europe where crossover coupes have become popular thanks to the Evoque.
"We are observing the moves of other automakers such as Audi, Honda and Volvo. We will not stand watching," Fioravanti remarked during a press event for the new Qashqai in Madrid, Spain. A source has confirmed to Automotive News Europe that Nissan is mulling a coupe-styled Qashqai.
Fioravanti said that the Japanese carmaker will not build a Qashqai hybrid version. "Our traditional engines have excellent fuel consumption, “he said. “We want to keep a high 'value for money' formula on the Qashqai."Read the entire article Nissan may release a coupe version of Qashqai to take on the Evoque
Nissan's Europe chief Trevor Mann is confident that the second-generation Qashqai crossover will equal the success of the previous model. Mann told Automotive News Europe in an interview that he expects annual sales of around 200,000 Qashqais in Europe. But, IHS Automotive is skeptical of his numbers.
"We forecast the numbers will fall on competition and the rollout of the [Nissan] X-Trail," IHS senior analyst Ian Fletcher said. The newer and bigger X-Trail SUV will offer a seven-seat configuration for the first time, replacing the already terminated seven-seat Qashqai+2. Also, the market for crossovers in Europe has expanded significantly since Nissan launched the Qashqai in 2007.
Likewise, other carmakers are offering new crossovers that are smaller and less expensive than the Qashqai. Add that to the fact the Nissan Juke may also affect sales of the Qashqai.Read the entire article 2014 Nissan Qashqai predicted to match success of previous model

Nissan officially unveiled the 2014 Qashqai, marking a big step in the crossover segment. For those who don’t know, the first Qashqai made its debut back in 2007 and since then, more than 2 million customers bought the crossover. Today, the Qashqai was reinvented and we are sure that C-segment drivers are pleased to know that the next-generation brings additional style, technology and excitement.
New model is 49 mm longer than its predecessor and comes with distinctive features such as a clamshell-style bonnet and the well-known Nissan grille. Based on the new CMF (Common Module Family) Renault-Nissan Alliance platform, the 2014 Qashqai will be offered with a choice of four engines: two petrol and two diesel, with the option of two- or four-wheel-drive.
The 1.2-liter DIG-T petrol engine develops 115 hp (85 kW) and 190 Nm of torque. Despite its size, the engine offers better acceleration and greater flexibility than the outgoing 1.6-liter naturally aspirated engine. This engine emits only 129 g/km of CO2, 15 g/km less than the outgoing 1.6-liter engine, and has a fuel consumption of 50.4 mpg or 5.6 l/100 km.Read the entire article 2014 Nissan Qashqai officially introduced showing an impressive design
Nissan vows to endow the second-generation Qashqai compact crossover with innovative new looks when it rolls the model out early 2014. Andy Palmer, Nissan’s global head of product planning, told Automotive News Europe that changing the looks of the Qashqai comes with a risk, noting that “if you're a leader in a segment, I think you should innovate."
With the disclosure, the second-generation Qashqai would sport major differences with the current model, Palmer said. Nissan provided a glimpse of its future plans for the crossover segment with the Resonance Concept it unveiled at the Detroit auto show in January 2013. Nissan says the Resonance concept is meant to be “provocative, energetic and engaging – even polarizing.”
The carmaker said the concept’s “edgy yet sophisticated design” provides a clear view into the future of crossover innovation. The replacement model for the Nissan Qashqai due for sale in 2014 will feature a more suggestive yet innovative design as well as offer a more sporting driving experience, Autocar has learned. The replacement model will be run by more powerful engines that would surely provide a sporty driving experience. Its style is created to keep it on the leading edge of crossover design.
Nissan product planning chief Andy Palmer remarked that they have become known as “the crossover brand,” a tag they like. He quipped, that to remain in the right direction, cars like the Qashqai have to “be edgy, left-field, eccentric,” adding that a “me too” car would be a disaster.
Palmer pointed to Nissan’s 2012 Hi-Cross concept and the 2013 Resonance concept as references as to how the new Qashqai will look. He, however, remarked that both concept cars were larger than the Qashqai will be. He said that like the 2012 Hi-Cross and the 2013 Resonance concepts, the new Qashqai will have a “very bold, aggressive, sharply cut look.”Read the entire article 2014 Nissan Qashqai to have more power, edgier look

Volkswagen is introducing its smallest sports utility vehicle so far, this further expanding its SUV lineup. With the new and tiny Volkswagen T-Cross, the German carmaker is taking advantage of the continued growing demand for SUVs, whether large or small.
With a styling that makes it appear like a smaller brother of the Volkswagen T-Roc, the new VW T-Cross is underpinned by the A0 version of the VW Group’s MQB platform. This is the same platform that underpins other models in the VW Group such as the VW Polo and Audi A1 as well as the SEAT Ibiza and SEAT Arona crossover.
The compact nature of the new VW T-Cross is wrapped in its small dimensions. It boasts of a length of just 161.8 inches (4.11 meters), making nearly as long as the Nissan Juke small crossover. Inside, the new VW T-Cross can accommodate between 13.6 cubic feet (385 liters) to 16.07 cubic feet (455 liters) of cargo, depending on the position of the rear seats. These rear seats can slide 5.5 inches (14 cm), thereby increasing or reducing the available cargo space. When the rear seats are folded down, the cargo space offered by the VW T-Cross increases to 45.24 cubic feet (1,281 liters). An optional folding front passenger seat can be availed by customers who need more cargo room.Read the entire article New Volkswagen T-Cross is the carmaker’s latest and smallest SUV

In an effort to make things more excited and make prospective customers think more about the new X3 M and X4 M, BMW has decided to let the public view their respective prototypes as they tackled the Nurburgring.
BMW’s high performance unit calls the event as the first official presentation of the new BMW X3 M and the BMW X4 M. However, the event can’t be called an official unveiling, the as both M versions of the X3 and X4 were both heavily camouflaged, and BMW M didn’t really provide more details – especially their actual specs – about these new high performance models. Indeed, a presentation is really the most appropriate word to describe the event.
The official presentation of the new BMW X3 M and BMW X4 M, which series development has already been kicked off, took place during the DTM racing weekend at the Nrburgring (September 7 to 9, 2018). During the official presentation, BMW M had prototypes of the BMW X3 M and the BMW X4 M test driven on the circuit. The prototypes have been camouflaged to indicate their nature as pre-series vehicles, which means that nothing is final yet with regards to the development of the X3 M and the X4 M. For the longest time, the Skoda Yeti was the only crossover model that the automaker offered to the market. However, that particular model did not really live up to its body style because it became known as an eccentric but adorable tall and rugged hatchback. After the Yeti, Skoda decided to offer a much larger seven-passenger Kodiaq that came in the second half of 2016.
This was then followed by the smaller five seat only Karoq in 2017, which was meant to replace the Yeti. In 2018, Skoda finally decided to add the Kamiq into their portfolio. However, the said model will only be exclusively sold in China, unlike its older siblings that were made available all over the world.
Without having to mention this, the city oriented crossover will be positioned just below the Karoq that we mentioned earlier. This also rounds off Skoda’s three model crossover lineup that is being offered in China. When it comes to the design elements, there isn’t much for us to say because it looks pretty similar to the other two “K” models. However, one thing that you would notice is that the headlights have a different layout, and the main ones are significantly larger too.Read the entire article Skoda’s small crossover - the Kamiq - will be exclusive to China
