Nissan reveals Nismo Performance Package for 2017 X-Trail Facelift in Japan

Nissan has unveiled the facelifted 2017 X-Trail earlier this month. The timely upgrade gave the X-trail an enhanced front end, self-driving tech and a revised interior. In-house tuner Nismo (abbreviated from Nissan Motorsport International Limited) will now give the X-trail a sportier look with a newly issued Nismo Performance Package. However, the downside of this package is that it only offers aesthetic upgrades and does not feature mechanical improvements for the SUV.

This is not what we expected when Nissan revealed that they would be producing more Nismo models, but we can deal with another body kit produced for Rogue, or as they name it in Japan and Europe, the X-trail. This package will be exclusively released for Japan consumers so far. As an expected Nismo product, the body is finished in white paired with the black and red details for contrast like the front and back diffusers and the side skirts. T

he radiator grille is now enclosed by gloss back panels and bolder bumper up front. Moreover, there's a brand new lower bumper spoiler spotted at the back with integrated parking sensors and dual chrome exhaust pipes. A bundle of exclusive 2 tone wheels and chrome handle contributes to the more dynamic look. It can be observed that inside the cabin, there are no hyped changes, the flat-bottom steering wheel is included in the latest addition for the SUV but no sports seats or pedals are offered with the package which is kind of disappointing.

Thought you can never make that old car look and perform as good as new again? Well, that won’t be the case soon enough because at last, you can now restore your aging, three-decade-old Nissan Skyline.

NISMO, Nissan’s performance division has just announced that it will start producing some new replacement parts for the R32 GT-R as part of the company’s heritage program. At least 80 original R32 Skyline GT-R replacement parts will be available and will go on sale beginning December 1st. The program as we know is a joint initiative between Nissan, Autech Japan, Nissan Motor Sports and several other original parts supplier.

The full catalogue was officially revealed on the weekend at the Fuji Speedway during the Nismo Festival which happens every year. According to Nissan, it nearly has everything from brand new emblem replacements all the way to new hoses and spanking new bumpers. It can be recalled that Mazda has also made a similar announcement earlier this year after it said it will be restoring the first generation of Miatas.

Expert Lego builder creates small-scale Nissan GT-R Nismo

Nissan’s GT-R Nismo is one of the most expensive cars the Japanese automaker has made in its history, the 200 mile-per-hour supercar is not like any other Nissan car that everybody can get their hands on. However, Lego has fulfilled our dreams to own one to a certain extent, by designing a small-scale version of the Nismo supercar. The nice thing about this is that you do not have to know how to drive to own one.

It was Firas Abu-Jaber, an expert brick builder, who came up with the Lego version of the GT-R Nismo. The reason why he built this was because it is a favourite car of his, so he took time and studied the supercar, and went into proper detail - from the front fascia, wheels, the rear, and even under the hood, to start his project. What he built was so detailed that he even replicated the GT-R’s engine.

As usual, Firas made use of the red Technic gear pieces to add details like the tail lights according to The Brothers Brick website. As you open the hood, the doors, and the roof, you will find some pretty cool detailing inside like a full on interior. This brick model might be of interest to you, but you won’t be able to get this from your local Lego store as it is not an official kit.

2017 Nissan X-Trail Facelift debuts with ProPILOT autonomous driving tech

Presented in 2013, the 3rd gen X-Trail is now the beneficiary of a long awaited mid-cycle upgrade this year. The European equivalent of the Nissan Rogue, the mid-size crossover will now flaunt sharper aesthetics, better packaging, more comfortable features and a few tech novelties.

Juventus and Real Madrid will battle it out head to head to determine the champion in this year's UEFA Champions League in Europe, in what is considered the largest soccer event for club teams on the continent. The final match will also host the unveiling of the facelifted version of the X-Trail from Nissan, the official automotive partner of UEFA Champions League.

In what is considered as a state-of-the-art tech is the ProPILOT autonomous driving system which will be offered for the aforementioned SUV next year. The new tech will manage the acceleration, steering and braking in a single lane highway in heavy traffic jam and high-speed travel. The system is part of the Japanese automaker's Intelligent Mobility array of tech that also involves Intelligent Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Recognition and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.

As it is now, Nissan Motor’s Nismo road car operations is a relatively a small business, with an annual volume of 15,000 performance-oriented cars. However, Nissan is giving Nismo fans and enthusiasts a genuine reason to rejoice – the Japanese carmaker is expanding this business with an aim to make more Nismo models available in more auto markets around the world.

Nissan launched the Nismo sub-brand to its mainstream model lineup in 2013, and since then, customers have gained better access to sportier performance and styling, as derived from and developed through Nismo’s motorsports activities. The Nismo sub-brand essentially injects a high level of sportiness – both in styling and performance – into Nissan’s global car lineup. Nevertheless, the number of Nismo cars produced has been limited, and may not be enough to satisfy the thirst of customers for such products around the world. This is the main reason why Nissan is creating a new unit – Nismo Cars Business Department.

The Nismo Cars Business Department is a new unit that is a part of Autech Japan, Inc., one of the companies under the Nissan group that assembles converted vehicles. This new unit will be combining the expertise of Nissan group companies -- Nissan, Autech, Nissan Motorsports International and other group units – to plan and develop more products in a much shorter time.

Last week, Nissan performance brand, Nismo, disclosed to the public its incoming road car expansion strategy that will be done to replicate the success that was met by the BMW M long ago. The Japanese automaker will embark on a plan that will be able to duplicate the number of units that will bear the Nismo performance badge, says Takao Katagiri, CEO of Nissan Motorsports International Co- the Nissan subsidiary overseeing Nismo.

The Nismo line-up has already sold 15,000 vehicles under its belt, and the Japanese automaker is hoping to increase their releases in the coming years. The planned expansion would involve fresh body types aside from their current roundabout of sports cars and SUVs, along with trucks like the Nissan Titan, crossovers and not forgetting the minivans. It will also involve the chain of Nismo dealership and driving academies found in different U.S. cities.

So far, the Japanese automaker has only released 4 vehicles under the Nismo brand in the US, including the loveable GT-R, 370Z, Juke and the newly rolled out Sentra, as well as the other units that include the Patrol SUV and Note hatchbacks that are made available outside the U.S. territory. Nissan is aiming to boost Nismo sales by about 100,000 units by the early 2020s, which is when we’re expected to welcome the line-up of new Nismo releases including the Maxima Nismo, Rogue Nismo and Titan Nismo (if the circulating reports are true).

If you’re a pet lover with strong preference for our canine friends, then this newest concept vehicle from Japanese carmaker Nissan would be to your liking. In fact, a dog-lover would want Nissan to turn this concept into a production vehicle in the nearest time as possible.

Nissan is introducing the all-new Nissan X-Trail 4Dogs Concept, which has been designed according to the preferences of most dog owners in the United Kingdom. The X-Trail 4Dogs concept was basically an offshoot of a recent survey conducted by The Kennel Club -- the largest organization for promoting dog welfare in the UK – and covering more than 1,300 dog owners.

According to the survey, around 98.7 percent of the survey respondents use their vehicles to transport their dog with 88.7 percent of dog owners doing that at least once a week. Moreover, around 90.5 percent of dog owners transport their pets in the car when travelling for at least 10 minutes. These indicate how important a vehicle is when transporting dogs from one place to another.

Driving on well-paved roads is pretty easy, especially if you are behind the wheel of a new Nissan X-Trail. Managing through some rough roads and rugged terrain would not be as easy, but the Nissan X-Trail should still be able to pull through. But, how about driving on a desert?

Sure enough, driving on a desert is not an easy thing to accomplish. It is basically because the desert is literally filled with sand. Traction, handling and steering are different when one is on the desert. Pushing the brakes too hard or slamming hard on the accelerator could push the tires into the sand. There is also the challenge of managing through giant sand dunes. Essentially, the fear of driving on the desert is related to getting stuck in the sand.

But this is not a concern with this Nissan X-Trail on the video. This Nissan X-Trail is not your ordinary X-Trail. After all, it is the Nissan X-Trail Desert Warrior, which as its name indicates, is all-set and prepped to bring the driving battle to the desert. Obviously, this Nissan X-Trail Desert Warrior features no wheels. It is fitted with a set of probably customized metal tracks that allow the Nissan X-Trail Desert Warrior to traverse the sandy desert sans any major difficulties. While there are tires suitable for challenging the desert, these metal tracks are more suitable in gaining better traction, improving handling and enhancing steering.

A few days before the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show finally kicks off, Nissan is previewing its event lineup with an off-site display of its 2017 Nissan Sentra NISMO in the downtown area. Yes, the Nissan Sentra now has a NISMO variant.

It was nearly five years ago when a sporty version of the Sentra hit the market. This version was the Sentra SE-R. Moving forward to this day, the Sentra NISMO is the latest in Nissan’s compact performance sedans, bringing with it the motorsports-inspired NISMO factory-tuned performance. Further increasing the appeal of the Sentra NISMO is the fact that it is available at less than $25,000 when it arrives in January 2017.

So, there you have it, an inexpensive, practical car with a sporty personality and a few twists. Michael Bunce, vice president for Product Planning at Nissan North America, remarked that the Sentra NISMO would be popular in Southern California and around the United States, given its performance specs without the hefty price. Of course, the 2017 Nissan Sentra is offered in other grade levels: S, SV, SR, SR Turbo and SL.

Nissan has finally unveiled its racer for the upcoming 2017 season of the Japanese Super GT Series – the 2017 Nissan GT-R Nismo GT500. Apparently, Nissan has made a number of design changes on its Super GT racer, seeking to repeat its feat in 2014 and 2015 when it won the championship. While Nissan failed to capture its third championship this year, it developed and designed the 2017 Nissan GT-R Nismo GT500 to enable it to recapture the crown while still abiding by the rules and regulations of the Japanese Super GT series.

The Japanese Super GT racing series has always been enjoyable and fun to watch not just because of speed and dynamics involved, but also because this competition features some of the hottest looking cars in the planet. Looking forward, the 2017 season of the Japanese Super GT is really something to look forward to because of some changes in the aero rules.

Apparently, the race cars competing in the Super GT have become too fast and too stable, and that has rendered the racing action seemingly boring. So, organizers decided to make the action more thrilling and more enjoyable -- by tweaking the regulations to compel manufacturers to reduce the downforce on their GT500 cars by 25 percent, thereby theoretically reducing cornering speeds. While this obliged carmakers to revise the looks of their racers, the apparent visual changes have resulted to better- and hotter-looking race vehicles.

In 2007, when Nissan first introduced the R35 Nissan GT-R at the 2007 Los Angeles Auto Show, the car carried with intense power and a price tag of $78,000. Up to this day, such a price tag would leave car enthusiasts and collectors at a loss. However, for the power and perks that this car brings along, many will agree that its price tag is worth it.

Just recently, Nissan introduced to the world the newest successor of the Godzilla bloodline and its flagship GT-R, the 2017 GT-R Nismo. Just like its predecessors and the version before it, this year’s GT-R Nismo will carry with it a price tag for the gods.

The 2017 GT-R Nismo comes with a starting price of $174,990, which is a $25,000 increase from the 2016 GT-R Nismo’s price tag. Albeit its price tag, Nissan assures that it will still be an attractive proposition because the GT-R Nismo comes with a couple of updates which will entice the customers to avail one. And earlier this year, Nissan gave the standard GT-R updates and some standard facelifts. And guess what? The same updates will also be given to the new GT-R Nismo. Basically, the GT-R Nismo will receive a modern day facelift, a modernization that has been overdue for Nissan’s performance flagship.

The Nürburgring race course in Germany is famous for being one of the most challenging, if not the longest, tracks around the world. It is here where the 2017 Nissan GT-R NISMO made its official debut, the same place where the performance of the Nissan GT-R was developed, tuned, and honed.

Hiroshi Tamura is Chief Product Specialist for the GT-R and the GT-R NISMO. Chief Tamura added that using the 2017 GT-R as the initial point, the GT-R NISMO is now a well-balanced machine and delivers increased performance plus an increased overall premium feel.

The fastest drift, as Guinness World Records, has recently been set by a specially tuned 2016 Nissan GT-R NISMO. This new record was set by Japanese drift champion and the D1 Grand Prix series winner Masato Kawabata, drifting at a max speed of 304.96 km/hr at Fujairah International Airport in the UAE.

Kawabata broke the previous record set by Jakub Przygoński of Poland. It should be noted that the specially tuned 2016 Nissan GT-R NISMO used for the record attempt was configured by GReddy Trust, with extensive testing done at the Fuji Speedway facility in Japan.

Moreover, Kawabata was personally involved in the test. GReddy Trust prepped the car for optimal agility and stability as well as superior handling. Nissan particularly chose the Fujairah International Airport for the attempt since its 3km airstrip was long enough to host the event.

How the new 2015 Nissan 370Z NISMO made its global debut is quite unusual as its arrival at ZDAYZ came as a surprise. Everyone was astonished as it was unveiled at this yearly event attended by those who either own or are fans of Nissan, Datsun and NISMO vehicles.

The mood at the gathering turned into a frenzy when the new 370Z NISMO model was shown and especially when its specs were announced. Aside from the improvements inside and outside, it came with a broader lineup that includes new 370Z NISMO Tech grade as well as both 6-speed manual and 7-speed automatic transmissions.

Nissan Chief Planning Officer and Executive Vice President Andy Palmer said that the decision to have its world debut in front of this crowd composed of its “most loyal and enthusiast owners” was only fitting because the brand considers NISMO to be the “heart and soul” of its performance whether it’s driving on the track or on the road.

At the upcoming SEMA show in Las Vegas, Nissan is planning to unveil a collection of optional parts exclusive to the Nissan GT-R NISMO (R35) in the United States. This bundle, dubbed as the "NISMO N Attack Package," includes dedicated parts developed through Nissan’s time attack project at Nürburgring in Germany.

In that project, the Nissan GT-R NISMO was able to post the fastest time for a volume production vehicle at Nürburgring at 7 minutes 8.679 seconds. These optional parts include aerodynamics for superior down-force, full bucket seats for maintaining the optimal driving position, and a suspension system that can bear the brunt force coming from the road surface.

Nismo employed the latest Computational Fluid Dynamic simulation techniques to analyze airflow on the Nissan GT-R NISMO, allowing it to successfully come up with an aero package that does not only enhance road-holding and reduce the bad impact of drag, but it also grants the vehicle a more intimidating and muscular look.

Nissan will make an explosive appearance at this year’s Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas. The carmaker is set to debut a trio of 2016 Nissan TITAN XD units and the 2016 GT-R NISMO N-Attack Package for the GT-R Nismo.

The three Titan XD 2016 models include a bespoke model that was designed by Nissan in cooperation with SEMA itself. The collaboration resulted from a “measuring session” that SEMA and Nissan undertook early this year, and involved a PRO-4X model that was later on modified by SEMA.

Nissan had the truck conveyed to SEMA’s main base in Diamond Bar, California in September, and it was since customized extensively by the Association. Unlike the other two models, this bespoke model will take a place in the show’s Grand Lobby.

From the side, we can see the NISMO red accents, the red sideview mirror covers and the top-down profile. The fixed headrest bars are located in the middle of the vehicle and are wrapped in leather with red accents.

The rear end features a custom carbon-fiber rear spoiler, while the power-folding roof with fabric inner liner design completed the design. Moreover, the concept uses 19-inch NISMO forged aluminum-alloy wheels by RAYS, wrapped in Y-rated Bridgeston Potenza S001.

In addition, the GT-R LM Nismo will arrive with a kinetic energy recovery system (KERS).

Still Nissan didn’t tell us how the kinetic energy is stored or used. Moreover, the GT-R LM Nismo features 14-inch-wide Michelin tyres at the front and 9-inch tyres at the rear.

Nissan says that the aero was moved forwards in order to obtain the perfect harmony with the mass center if gravity and the tire capacity.
