Tesla is now taking orders for its Semi in Europe

Two months ago, there were reports about Tesla Semi sales as it skyrocketed just a few weeks after being launched in the United States. Huge companies like J.B. Hunt, Walmart, Loblaws and Meijer had placed their reservations on the all-electric truck, as well as some other international companies. Also, the largest reservation that has been made was for 125 units (by none other than UPS).

Furthermore, Tesla received a total of around 140 pre-orders from the companies that ordered from them. And now, that number has probably doubled or tripled. The electric car maker promises to begin deliveries for the first batch of orders starting in late 2019.

Other companies that made reservations late last year include Sysco, DHL Supply Chain, Mecca & Son Trucking, Fercam, European based Girteka Logistics, Ryder and some others.

Tesla Semi orders have skyrocketed

Since Elon Musk revealed the Tesla Semi a couple of weeks ago, the automaker began receiving a number of pre-orders of the all-electric truck. Many of these orders come from large American companies including J.B. Hunt, Walmart, Loblaws and Meijer. According to Reuters, the all-electric automaker has already collected a total of 116 reservations, and orders continue to increase daily.

And as of the other day, there were already 140 pre-orders from 11 different companies, according to Jalopnik. Other companies that are part of the list of include Italian company Fercam, European based Girteka Logistics, Ryder, DHL Supply Chain, Fortigo Freight Services, Mecca & Son Trucking, Flexport.com and some others.

Anheuser-Busch had just pre-ordered the most number of Tesla Semis to date. If our sources are correct, they pre-ordered at least 40 units of the all-electric trucks, which they will use for the transport of goods such as those from Budweiser.

You may now pre-order a Polestar 1 for only $2500

Have you been imagining yourself driving a Polestar 1? If you have, now is the time for you to pre-order the 600 horsepower (447 kilowatt) hybrid coupe before it arrives in showrooms in 2019. A couple of days ago, the automaker decided to begin taking orders for interested buyers in exactly 18 countries including the United States, United Kingdon, China, Switzerland, Sweden, Spain, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Poland, Portugal, Norway, the Netherlands, and Italy.

For one to get a reservation slot, a $2,500 (2,500 euros or 20,000 yen) deposit must be made, and the great thing about this is that it is refundable.

Since the Polestar 1 made its debut in the public, the company found out that around 7,000 people were interested in owning one of these, and this idea encouraged the automaker even more, according to Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO. This is what motivated them to take orders this early, and soon they will be taking the next step towards delivering this beautiful car to their first batch of customers.

Truck drivers don’t care about the Tesla Semi’s capabilities

It took quite some time for Tesla to reveal their new all-electric truck called the Semi. And before it made its debut, it received a lot of hype and attention, which is why people were excited for its reveal. Apart from being an all-electric truck, it was also supposed to be quicker than any diesel alternatives.

But here is the biggest question: does performance matter to long-haul drivers? Well, according to the UK’s Road Haulage Association (RHA), performance is not actually that important.

Rod McKenzie RHA policy advisor of Autocar said earlier this week that drivers do not really prioritize performance figures, and what actually concerns them would be the charging ports that are lacking, as well as the minimal range of the Tesla.

After several delays, Tesla unveiled its new all-electric heavy duty truck – the new Tesla Semi. The Silicon Valley-based carmaker touted the new Semi as having the ability to offer truck drivers with better experience, thanks to heightened safety levels and lower cost of transporting cargo. But after the reveal, there is one enigma that needed to be unraveled – the price of the new Tesla Semi.

Tentatively, the pricing for the new Tesla Semi could go as low as $150,000. Yes, the price hasn’t been fully finalized yet, with some changes on the rate still possible. While the prices for the new Tesla Semi are still tentative, they could remain as they are when the carmaker finally announces the final pricing of its new electric heavy duty truck.

The carmaker will be offering the new Tesla Semi electric heavy duty truck in two flavors. The first of them could go as far as 300 miles (480 km) before needing to re-charge, and this version has a starting price of $150,000. For fleet customers seeking a Tesla Semi that could cover a longer distance, they could go for the version that has an all-electric range of 500 miles (800 km) on a single charge.

Tesla revealed that with its new Semi, truck drivers can expect better experience especially with heightened safety and the lower cost of transporting cargo.

Indeed, the cabin of the new Tesla Semi is designed to focus on the driver. Thus ingress and egress is easier because of the unhindered stairs. Full standing room is also offered inside and by having a centered driver position, visibility is optimized.

There are two displays, both of which have touchscreen capabilities, placed symmetrically on each of the driver’s side to allow for easy access to electronic data logging, blind spot monitoring, and easy access to navigation. Then there is the built-in connectivity, which by being directly integrated to the management system of the fleet, allows for remote monitoring and support scheduling and routing.

Demand for the Mercedes-AMG Project One hypercar is so high that people had been lining up to get a piece of this 1,000-hp-plus road machine even before Mercedes has commenced its production. Mercedes has placed the production cap at just 275 examples. In fact, the AMG Project One is practically sold out. Thus, those included in the shortlist of customers for the new AMG Project One could be considered as having a great amount of luck.

It turns out that one of those in the shortlist is trying to transform such luck into fortunes. Of course, with a price tag of around $2.7 million, the AMG Project One is reserved for the rich and affluent. Aside from taking into possession a one-of-a-kind hypercar laden with Formula One technologies, future owners would be getting their hands on one of the most exclusive and limited supercars in the market. This person in question doesn’t seem to like the prestige that comes with owning an example of the AMG Project One. But instead of just giving it away, he or she is selling his/her spot on the shortlist, as advertised on the German marketplace Mobile.de

It goes without saying that there would be people willing to take up this person’s offer. Getting into the shortlist of buyers for the new AMG Project One would be like hitting the jackpot. Even if this person is offering to sell his or her build slot for $5.22 million (€4.51 million) –– or nearly twice the price of an actual AMG Project One -- there would still be people who would ink a deal.

The Tesla Semi, the company’s all-electric heavy-duty truck, was supposed to make its debut a couple of months ago, after being delayed for a few times. But now, it seems like they are finally ready to reveal it later this month, on November 16, at their design center in Hawthorne, California. Why do we think that it will push through this time? Well, because they have already begun sending invites for the event. Guests will be entertained at 7:00PM Pacific time, while Musk will hit the stage after an hour or so.

The latest teaser shows the silhouette of the all-electric heavy-duty truck, and it sure does look a lot like the truck that was spotted a few months back. The teaser also highlights the truck’s aggressive LED headlights.

There isn’t much information available with regards to the Tesla Semi. However, it’s widely speculated that it will be a short to mid-range truck, as opposed to a long-hauler. He also teased a few record breaking specs in terms of torque and handling, saying that the truck is actually much better than anything that was suggested in the media to date. Other details that we have previously heard of are all just rumours at this point.

Earlier this year, Tesla sent “Save the Date” emails to customers with regards to the reveal of the Tesla Semi truck. The event had been set to take place on October 26, after being postponed from the original release date of September 28.

Back in April, Elon Musk even tweeted, saying that the team has done an amazing job building the Tesla Semi truck. He described it as the “next level” vehicle. But just recently, Tesla announced that the Semi’s reveal date will again be moved to November 16. You are probably wondering what’s with the delay this time. Well, Musk tweeted that it has something to do with production bottlenecks for the Model 3, plus the company had to increase battery cell production for the energy storage system that is currently being sent to Puerto Rico and other areas that had been affected by tragedies.

Despite all that, we found that Tesla will actually cover travel and accommodation expenses caused by the delay of the Semi truck’s reveal, so customers should not be disappointed.

For those who are into pickup trucks, there’s good news as the new Renault Alaskan can now be yours as they expand to more countries in Europe. It had entered the South American market last year followed by its Colombian debut. The French automaker developed this model as an alternative to the Nissan Navara and the Mercedes-Benz X-Class, and it will be offering the one-ton pickup in Europe.

Under the hood of the Alaskan pickup is a 2.3-liter dCi diesel engine. Customers could either go for the base model with 160 horsepower (119 kilowatts) or the 190 horsepower (141 kilowatts) option. Both engines can be paired with either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed automatic. It has a towing capacity of 2,205 pounds (1,000 kilograms) and can haul up to 1,630 pounds (739 kilograms). The pickup is available in three driving modes including a two-wheel drive, a 4LO, or a 4H full AWD.

The functionality and performance of the Renault Alaskan are at par with competitors like the Ford Ranges and the Toyota Hilux, which are both currently out in the European market. Believe it or not, this truck can hit the 0 to 60 mile-per-hour (96 kilometers per hour) speed in only 12 seconds, before it reaches its top speed of 100 miles per hour (160 kilometers per hour).

Last July 28, Elon Musk held a special event for the first 30 customers of the Tesla Model 3. The Model 3 is the company’s first mass-produced vehicle and is also their most affordable model. The reason why only 30 units were delivered that day is because production is currently moving slow for the Californian automaker. However, they did say that production will hike up exponentially. But even after saying that, car owners who order one today won’t get their Model 3 until 12 to 18 months after.

Here is the thing, not everybody is that patient or can wait that long for a car to be delivered to their garage, so a lot of these people cancelled their pre-orders. As of now, there have been around 63,000 cancellations that were made by customers, according to Elon Musk as he revealed this during their quarterly earning call. All in all, reservations for the Tesla Model 3 have gone down from 518,000 to 455,000.

Musk further added that the cancellations were recorded in the span of over a year. Having said that, Tesla does not seem to be very much affected by the cancellations. In fact, the company feels more relieved probably because there is less pressure put on them. Musk even compared themselves to a restaurant, saying that if people queue up for a hamburger when there is already an hour and a half wait, there’s really no reason to attract more customers.

Cars Direct earlier reported that Chevrolet is currently putting orders on hold for the new Corvette. Despite recently announcing a series of updates, it is unfortunate that the 2018 models may not arrive until this December.

Reports say the postponement was due to the temporary shutdown of the Bowling Green facility in Kentucky. This is to give way to the plant’s ongoing construction that will last for about three months. As spokesperson Ron Klinon said, the upgrade will commence in August to let them complete the construction of GM’s state of the art paint facility. Because of this, the production has been rescheduled to November which means the 2018 Corvette may not be found at the dealerships until December.

As for Chevrolet’s inventory, we learned that it currently has about 14,700 Corvettes in total. This is equivalent to a 146-day supply which isn’t so bad at all considering Chevy also needs to empty out its inventory especially of the existing year models. That said, the figures released by the Automotive News Data Center may benefit General Motors but the consumers may be put at a disadvantage with the diminishing supply of Corvettes--- especially when it comes to the decreasing number of incentives available.

Fisker Inc.’s countdown to the official unveiling of the new Fisker EMotion in mid-August 2017 has practically started after the carmaker released the first official teaser images and some details of its latest electric car project.

According to Fisker, the new EMotion was designed all new from inside out, with its electric car proportions made into reality by a structure made from carbon fiber and aluminum. In penning the design of the new EMotion, Fisker focused on the safety and convenience of its passengers. In fact, Fisker’s patented frontal crash structure has already surpassed the current passenger safety standards. Likewise, the new EMotion provides a luxurious and roomy cabin that offers a generous amount of legroom.

As designed, the Fisker EMotion shown in the first official images look different from the prototype’s teaser images released in October 2016. Compared with the prototype, the new EMotion – assuming that this is the final design – has a smaller grille, more realistic headlights, and more stunning turn signals. The bright aluminum centerpiece on the front end of the EMotion is home to a LIDAR system. This technology is supported by two cameras on the side mirrors, allowing for a panoramic, 360-degree view.

Tesla is shaking up the automotive industry once more by entering the semi-truck market. The Elon Musk-led company is set to debut its own electric semi-truck in September this year. And now, Elon Musk has given us the first sneak peek on the up-and-coming unnamed electric truck.

Tesla's head honcho Elon Musk was in Vancouver, Canada having a TED talk- discussing underground transportation. In between, he also revealed tidbits about his new electric Semi-Truck project. Furthermore, he also revealed the first ever shadowy teaser image of his Tesla Semi Truck.

The image expectedly went viral, but is not as dramatically different compared to the other concept vehicle images truck makers have revealed in the previous years. While there is an apparent rise in advanced electric techs in the passing years, it has been suited for smaller automobiles that cover shorter distances. The Semi Truck looks tall and the concept is quite futuristic, especially the headlights. And it appears there are no side mirrors present. It is possible that a camera system is fitted instead.

Tesla Motors is still shocking the world with its electric vehicles built with performances are at par or even better than their conventionally powered rivals. However, it turned out that Tesla is planning to go beyond electric sedans and SUVs. As Tesla founder and chief executive Elon Musk announced it would soon unveil the carmaker’s first semi-truck and pickup truck.

Through a post in Twitter, Musk revealed that the carmaker is unveiling the new Tesla Semi truck in September this year. He added that Tesla’s development team did an amazing job in creating this new semi truck, which he described as on a “seriously next level.” As far as we know, Musk isn’t joking. Of course, “seriously next level” could mean that it could be entirely different from the semi-trucks we know, thereby possible changing the game according to Tesla’s own definition.

To note, Musk tweeted in 2016 that Tesla’s Jerome Guillen was already test-driving the carmaker’s new semi truck. He also noted that Guillen was responsible for leading Daimler’s most successful semi-truck program. In addition, Musk said during the unveiling of Master Plan Part Deux last summer that Tesla is already in the early stages of development of its new heavy-duty trucks and high passenger-density urban transport. By then, he announced that these units would be ready to be unfurled this year. Now, Musk is staying true to his words and confirmed that Tesla is indeed unveiling a new semi-truck this September.

Mercedes-Benz Vans has yet to officially unveil the production version of its X-Class luxury pickup truck, but quite a number of interested customers are asking the German carmaker whether it would be possible to place an order. But if you are living in the United Kingdom, you could now reserve a new X-Class pickup premium truck from Mercedes-Benz.

Mercedes-Benz Vans UK has now opened the reservations book for the new Mercedes-Benz X-Class, thanks to the “phenomenally early demand” for the premium pickup truck. This means that potential UK customers would just need to shell out some cash to have their names listed on the reservation list for the UK-spec Mercedes X-Class. Mercedes Vans UK has pegged the reservation fee at around £1,000 (more or less $1,248 or €1,162). When Mercedes finally and officially launches the sale of the X-Class, those who have their names on the list will be first to order the premium pickup truck.

However, since this is just a reservation list for the X-Class, UK customers who think that the premium pickup truck isn’t worth their money could back out from the roll. Of course, they wouldn’t have to worry about their reservation money since Mercedes Vans UK is prepared to refund the entire amount should they decide to withdraw from owning the UK-spec plush pickup truck.

After twenty long years, Alpine’s major comeback comes with a special surprise. A limited-only “Premiere Edition” sports car is slated to come out next year. It should be noted that the official details on the car’s specs would be announced much later on. Until now, the production car still goes by the product code “A120”. ---- But it will probably resemble Alpine’s Vision Concept at the very least.

According to reports, the power likely comes from a 1.8 litre turbo engine with up to 250 hp. We also heard about its impressive acceleration speed of 0-62mph in just 4.5 seconds. Even so, the company hasn’t disclosed any information about its “Premiere Edition” except that it will come with “exclusive appointments.”

One more thing; Alpine’s exclusive variant will be limited to only 1,955 customers. The strange numbers apparently refer to the year when Jean Rédélé founded the company back in 1955.

The car brand has stopped taking orders only a couple of months ago since they needed time to determine the exact number of units that they have to build. Apparently, they ran short of headlamps and had no idea then if they can still accommodate all the orders. In fact, it was earlier reported that they also ran out of “aero wings” around September and that also prompted them to postpone further bookings for the ACR variant.

There are no details regarding the total number of Vipers to be assembled. But a big chunk of the final batch was already bought by a dealership based in North Carolina. Gerry Wood Dodge from Salisbury has come up with its own 2017 limited edition models. The ACR as we know is the most popular of the entire Viper’s line-up. No doubt, Gerry Wood Dodge’s special edition ACRs was allegedly sold out in less than an hour.

In a recent interview with the Detroit News, Fiat Chrysler’s head for passenger car brands Tim Kuniskis described how the “demand for ACR” was unexpected. Since they knew more or less how many they could build, he thinks that they are almost ready to take new orders.

Nikola Motor’s hydrogen-powered semi-trailer truck is highly appealing with its many advancements but don’t expect it to arrive in the near future. In November 2016, Toyota announced the possibility of applying hydrogen technology to semi-trailers, so such trucks might come soon. But while Toyota is still conducting a California-based feasibility and exploration study, Utah-based Nikola Motor Company has already unveiled a hydrogen-powered semi-trailer truck that could put current conventional trucks on the road to shame.

Nikola Motors is proud to unveil its Nikola One hydrogen-powered semi-trailer truck, which employs a full electric drivetrain as powered by high-density lithium battery pack with 320-kWh of capacity. This large high-capacity battery pack gets its juice from hydrogen fuel cells. Its electric drivetrain could provide more than a thousand ponies and around 2,000 ft. lbs. (2,711 Nm) of torque – which is nearly double the amount that conventional semi-trailer trucks could provide with the powerful diesel engines.

This means that Nikola One could haul heavier loads as needed. In addition, Nikola One’s fuel cell-powered battery pack – a massive one – could contain enough energy to allow the green yet mean semi trailer truck to travel between 800 miles and 1,200 miles (1,287 to 1,931 kilometers), depending on the battery specs and the size of the hydrogen tank. This means that the Nikola One semi-trailer truck is very suitable for long-haul operations, effectively getting rid of the so-called range anxiety common with electrified vehicles. This hydrogen tank can be filled up at any of the planned 364 stations across the United and Canada. These hydrogen refilling stations will be built starting 2018.

Having a Ferrari in your garage is something you can be proud of. This is much expected as driving a Ferrari gives a new meaning to the word “exclusive.” This is typified by the fact that each Ferrari costs a lot of money and only a handful are willing shell out cash in mid-six digits. Although crafting a Ferrari car requires time, it doesn’t however take too long before customers receive their units.

Lately, however, Ferrari has been receiving a deluge of orders for its vehicles and has been hardly keeping up with production. This was disclosed by Herbert Appleroth, chief executive of Ferrari Australasia during the Australian launch of the turbocharged V8-powered GTC4 Lusso T. Appleroth admitted that no thanks to high demand for the Ferrari GTC4 Lusso T, Ferrari needs at least year before it could deliver the units to customers in some areas in Australia. This means that if an Australian customer now places an order for the Ferrari GTC4 Lusso T, the wait would probably end only in 2018 or even later.

Matters are worse for practically all other vehicles in Ferrari’s stable – placing an order now would mean a lag time of nearly two years. This means that a customer who placed an order for the Ferrari 488 GTB, Spider, or California T would need to wait until late 2018 before he or she could take delivery of the unit.
