Audi PB18 e-tron is an all-electric high-performance concept with the driver in full control

Audi has unveiled an all-electric concept car at the Pebble Beach Automotive Week in Monterey, California that visualizes a radical electrically powered driving machine for both the road and the race track. The all-electric Audi PB18 e-tron Concept is essentially a design and technical study of a futuristic high-performance sports car.

Basically, the PB18 e-tron boasts of a technical concept built from Audi's years of victories at the Le Mans, as implemented through the carmaker’s high-performance arm -- Audi Sport GmbH. The “PB18” in its name refers to the place and year (Pebble Beach and 2018) it was unveiled, while the “e-tron” signifies the fact that the concept shares the technological DNA with the Audi R18 e-tron, the carmaker’s high successful LMP1 racing car.

In terms of dimensions, the PB18 e-tron is similar to a classical sports car – it measures 4.53 meters (14.5 ft.) in length, 2 meters (6.4 ft.) in width and 1.15 meters (4.6 ft) in height, with wheelbase of 2.70 meters (8.9 ft) and short overhangs.

2019 Geneva Motor Show: Audi Q4 e-tron concept previews new compact SUV bound in 2020

Audi has finally taken the veil off its latest electrified creation at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show – the new the Audi Q4 e-tron concept. This new concept car is a compact four-door SUV that basically provides a good look at the German premium carmaker’s fifth batter electric vehicle that would enter the automotive market by the end of 2020.

Wrapped in “Solar Sky” paint finish, the exterior of the new Audi Q4 e-tron concept is only constrained by its compact dimensions pegged at 4.59 meters in length, 1.90 meters in width and 1.61 meters in height, with a wheelbase of 2.77 meters. It is almost impossible not to indentify the Q4 e-tron concept as an Audi, as the prototype is marked by on the front end by Singleframe with the four rings.

Furthermore, it is also fairly easy to distinguish the concept as an electric Audi e-tron as it features upright octagonal frame instead of a traditional radiator grille. Large inlets can be found extending from below the concept’s two matrix LED headlights to the front apron.

2018 LA Auto Show: Audi unveils e-tron GT concept four-door coupe with a low floor

According to the German premium carmaker, the production version of the Audi e-tron GT concept is set to arrive in around two years. This means that could expect the third member of the e-tron family by late 2020, with initial deliveries set in early 2021. It follows the Audi e-tron SUV as well as the Audi e‑tron Sportback scheduled for 2019.

As designed, the Audi e-tron GT concept features the proportions of a classic Gran Turismo – flat and wide with a long wheelbase – as reflected on its dimensions of 4.96 meters (16.3 ft.) in length, 1.96 meters (6.4 ft.) in width and 1.38 meters (4.5 ft.) in height. Audi E-tron GT four-door sports car to arrive in 2020 with 248 miles of range

The up-and-coming Audi E-tron GT four-door sports car is one of the electric cars that the premium carmaker has promised to deliver before 2025. But as early as now, some details have emerged about the new electric offering from Audi, as divulged by two of the company’s top men to Autocar.

First up is the expected distance that the Audi E-tron GT can travel in a single charge using just electricity. As reported by Autocar, Siegfried Pint, who serves as Technical Director Powertrain Integration at Audi, remarked that the new E-tron GT will have an electric range similar to the E-tron electric SUV. Since the E-tron SUV offers a range of 248 miles (400 km) as per WLTP (Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure). Nonetheless, he noted that this range would be achieve without hindering potential of the E-tron GT four-door sports car, as this new EV would be “focused more towards power.”

Providing the power for the new Audi E-tron SUV is a 95-kWh lithium-ion battery that brings into life its two electric motors (dual asynchronous motors), with a motor placed on each axle for an all-wheel drive performance. The electric powertrain of the E-tron SUV delivers up to 265 kW (355 hp) of output and up to 413 lb-ft. of torque. But when the “boost mode” is activated, the electric motors will also deliver more power to the wheels, to up to 300 kW (402 hp) of output and up to 490 lb-ft. of torque. In this boost mode, the E-tron SUV can sprint from zero to 60 mph in just 5.5 seconds.

After months of previewing the e-tron all-electric sports utility vehicle through prototypes wrapped in bright orange and black camouflage, Audi has finally unveiled the final production version of the SUV in San Francisco, California.

The all-new Audi e-tron full-size SUV is the brand’s first fully electrically powered series production model, boasting of an electrifying appearance that betrays its zero-emission intensions. Both the LC 500 Inspiration Series and the LC Inspiration Series Concept are regarded by Lexus as ultimate expressions of their flagship coupe, as marked by bold designs and exclusive elements.

While the first Inspiration Series wrapped in Structural Blue, the Lexus LC Inspiration Series Concept is finished in Flare Yellow exterior paint. This concept rides on a distinct set of black 21-inch forged alloy wheels. It also features a carbon fiber roof and an active rear spoiler.

Acura has unveiled the latest iteration of the Acura NSX at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, in Moneterey, California. The 2019 Acura NSX is still as powerful as before, but the luxurious sports car is now a better performer. It also boasts of new colors both on the exterior and interior, as well as a number of new design cues.

The 2019 Acura NSX unveiled at The Quail is finished in a new premium paint option – the Thermal Orange Pearl coat. This new finish is a tribute to 30 years of Acura motorsports vehicles with orange accented liveries. In addition, orange calipers are also available for the optional carbon ceramic metallic (CCM) brakes. Likewise, red calipers can be fitted to the standard iron brakes.

SSC North America, formerly known as Shelby SuperCars, has been working on a successor for the SSC Ultimate Aero. A concept of the successor was unveiled at the 2011 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, but due to unknown reasons, the final car has yet to make into production. Seven years after the concept at the same place and event, SSC North America is unveiling to the public the final form of this concept as it goes into production – the new SSC Tuatara.

The new SSC Tuatara is named after a greenish-brown and gray lizard – which can only be found in New Zealand -- known for having the fastest molecular evolution for any living animal. The SSC Tuatara unveiled at Pebble Beach was also wrapped in similar grayish color. Underneath this wrapped is a body and a chassis all made from carbon fiber. Moreover, the 20-inch wheels of the Tuatara are also made from carbon fiber. By employing carbon fiber, SSC North America is able to make Tuatara a lightweight hypercar with a dry weight of just 2,750 lbs. (1,247 kg).

The use of carbon fiber also paved way for a wind-cheating, aerodynamically superior curvy design. The incredibly sporty overall looks of the new SSC Tuatara hypercar is penned by Jason Castriota, a former designer at Pininfarina. The design of the new Tuatara takes inspiration from the aerospace industry. This design gave the hypercar a low drag coefficient value of just 0.279 Cd – the lowest in its class.

Before people knew it, Ferrari has already created its 50th droptop model. The Italian sports car maker unveiled its 50th droptop model and the latest member of the Special Series family – the new Ferrari 488 Pista Spider – at the highly prestigious Concours d’Elegance at Pebble Beach in California.

Earlier this year, Ferrari introduced the 488 Pista Coupe and the track-oriented Piloti 488 Pista Special Edition. The 488 Pista is the considered as the successor to Ferrari’s V8-engined Special Series – the 360 Challenge Stradale, 430 Scuderia and 458 Speciale. Now, the latest Special Series is welcoming its new member in a convertible form. The decision to unveil the new 488 Pista Spider in the United States was influenced by the fact that Ferrari’s North American clients have been keen connoisseurs of high-performance convertibles since the 1950s.

Essentially, the difference between the Coupe and the Spider versions of the Ferrari 488 Pista is that the latter features a droptop, which roof system is more complex than the fixed one. Because of increased complexity of its convertible roof, the new 488 Pista Spider is around 200 lbs (91 kg) heavier than the 488 Pista Coupe. Since both versions of the Ferrari 488 Pista are powered by the same powerplant -- a twin-turbo 3.9-liter V8 engine that delivers 720 hp of max output and 770 Nm (568 lb.-ft.) of peak torque – this difference in weight results to a very slight disparity in terms of performance.

For the past years, Mercedes-Benz has been unveiling spectacular concepts or visions. There were the AMG Vision GT and the Concept IAA, as well as the Vision Maybach 6 and the Vision Maybach 6 Cabriolet. This record sat untouched for around 80 years, until it was broken in November 2017.

Just like the 1937 W125, the Vision EQ Silver Arrow features a long and extended front section and short front overhang. The round cockpit glazing of the Vision EQ Silver Arrow -- modeled on a drop of water in terms of outline and cross-section – was also inspired by the W125. Similar to the Silver Arrows, this one-seater concept is wrapped in alubeam silver paint.

To make the annual Worthersee Meet more interesting, Audi decided that that they should electrify the event. And that’s why they brought in a prototype Audi E-tron Quattro towing the E-Tron Vision Gran Turismo Concept. It’s interesting to see two models that represent the company’s future at an event that largely celebrates an iconic model from VW Group’s history.

Firstly, the E-Tron Quattro will be Audi’s first dedicated electric vehicle, which is scheduled to be sold in Europe by the end of the year. In fact, the automaker has already been testing the 250-member fleet of the said model around the world as a means to build buzz and to work out the final details.

Right now, the electric crossover is equipped with a 95 kilowatt hour battery pack that enables the car to drive as far as 248.5 miles (400 kilometers) in the new WLTP driving cycle. As for the powertrain, specs aren’t as clear but the electric motors allegedly produce a total of 435 horsepower (320 kilowatts) or 503 horsepower (379 kilowatts) when there is a temporary power boost.

Undoubtedly, the Audi E-Tron is one of the most highly anticipated models out there. And guess what? It was only days ago that the electric SUV had been spotted testing out its zero emissions powertrain on the Green Hell. And we have the spy shots to prove this. But even as the hype is getting high on its arrival, the buzz now is on how Audi presented the official range figures for the new SUV.

Audi brought its E-Tron prototype to the Siemens AG facility in Berlin, Germany. Here, the company decided to shock the E-Tron (literally) with a Faraday cage with a high voltage lightning bolt, and guess what happened to the vehicle? It only got minor burn marks on the roof.

During this shocking presentation by Audi, the new E-Tron’s range was announced. That being said, Audi said that the SUV will have a range of 400 kilometers (248.5 miles) in the European WLTP driving cycle. Take note that they have not released figures for the US just yet. We’re all eagerly looking forward to that information.

Audi’s e-tron Vision Gran Turismo is an all-electric concept car that resides in the world of virtual reality. More specifically, it is one of the cars that could be played in the popular PlayStation game “Gran Turismo.” Now, it is possible to see the Audi e-tron Vision Gran Turismo concept car in real life, when you watch Formula E races.

A result of the collaboration between Audi and Gran Turismo creators Sony and Polyphony Digital, the Audi e-tron Vision Gran Turismo was created by talented Audi designers exclusively for the “Vision Gran Turismo” contest that was part of the 15th anniversary celebrations of the Gran Turismo. Other carmakers also took part in the contest and had their designers develop virtual race cars.

Interestingly, several of the Vision Gran Turismo cars – including the Audi e-tron Vision Gran Turismo -- were consequently built as full-scale models and presented at a number of shows. However, the Audi e-tron Vision Gran Turismo is the first to be deployed to real-world race tracks as a fully functional car. It will be making its race track debut in Rome on April 14, to be deployed as a race taxi for the Formula E event. From there, the Audi e-tron Vision Gran Turismo will be making its appearance in other Formula E’s city circuits in 2018.

Audi’s first all-electric model is on the way, and the German premium carmaker is brandishing a new model -- the Audi e-tron prototype SUV – at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. This new prototype serves as a precursor of an upcoming all-electric sporty SUV from the brand with the four rings.

The Audi e-tron prototype is wrapped in camouflage, but this isn’t the traditional prototype disguise. Whereas traditional camouflage is intended to conceal the true appearance of a certain new model before they are officially revealed to the public, the one worn by the vehicle simply reveals the status of this study as a prototype that will be used for various tests.

The camouflage worn by the e-tron prototype is a specially developed design film that expresses the vehicle’s designation as an e-tron model. The camouflage is basically a distorted e-tron lettering that spans from the front end, through the flanks, over the roof and to the rear end.

Audi has not been silent about its plans to offer full electric vehicles starting 2020. Earlier, this year, Audi chief executive Rupert Stadler revealed plans to release an electric SUV, a compact EV and electric sports car. Now, a recent report revealed that this new electric sports car already has a name – the Audi E-Tron GT.

This was announced by Peter Mertens, a member of the Audi management board, during an interview with Auto Motor Und Sport. The new electric sports car will be a battery-powered all-electric unit that will be underpinned by the same platform that would underpin the upcoming Porsche Mission E, which is also an electric sports car in the making. This architecture is the so-called Premium Platform Electric (PPE), which is to some extent the luxury version of the MEB platform of the VW Group. Around 60 percent of the vehicles underpinned by PPE would be Audi models, while the rest would be Porsche units.

Porsche has promised to deliver its first all-electric sports car by 2019, while Mertens indicated that Audi will release the E-Tron GT in 2022. Of course, the final production version of the Mission E would contain design elements that would make it easily recognizable as a Porsche. The same would be true for Audi’s upcoming electric sports car; the E-Tron GT would don distinctive design and styling elements that would make it effortlessly identifiable as an Audi. The E-Tron GT is expected to borrow a number design cues from Audi’s newer concept cars like the Q8 as well as from Audi’s other EVs like the outgoing R8 E-Tron.

After four decades of being an expert in the motorsport industry, Audi will be the first German automaker to compete in Formula E. This will be done to test the development of new technologies to be used in production, according to the Member of the Board of Management, Peter Mertens.

The motor generator unit was designed for greater efficiency and so the engineers put a lot of their time and effort into this. In the 2017/2018 season, Team Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler will only be using a high-efficiency transmission with only one gear, to deliver power to the wheels.

All eyes were turned to the fuchsia pink bespoke McLaren 720S MSO at the 2017 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance Sunday. Surely, we can understand why. The one-off supercar, which was commissioned by entrepreneur and philanthropist Michael Fux and was created by the British automaker’s bespoke division, wears a very bright, eye catching body paint of pink tone with a hint of purple.

Featuring what is called the “Fux Fuschia” color scheme, the MSO 720S was tailor-made to perfection to meet its owner’s unique taste. Starting from the striking exterior up to its luxurious cabin with custom leather and white stitching, down to its lightweight alloy wheels in platinum. Other highlights consist of the cabin’s carbon fiber elements, the pinstriped steering wheel, the fuchsia pink rear view mirror cover as well as the window surrounds and exhaust pipes in Stealth Gray finish. It also comes with white floor mats to complete the all-white theme interior scheme.

A well-known car enthusiast, Fux has over a hundred luxury cars in his collection and many of those are custom made with some unusual colors. Famous designer of certain Ferrari vehicles like the Enzo Ferrari and the P4/5, Ken Okuyama has revealed another one of his designs at the 2017 Pebble Beach Concours over the weekend. You might have remembered the Kode57 Enji that was previewed last year, this one is a Kode 0 that is somewhat similar to the former.

Having said that, by looking at the Kode 0, you will see several design cues that were taken from Lamborghini. Particularly, these are designs by Marcello Gandini. The guy is best known for designing certain models including the Lamborghini Countach, Lambo Miura, and also the Lancia Stratos Zero, and many others.

The Kode 0 has a base like the Lamborghini Aventador, with its "one motion" design. It had been given a set of 20- and 21-inch wheels wearing Pirelli P-Zero tires, plus a more aggressive front splitter and LED headlights up front, while the rear end of the car is a triangular shaped exhaust complemented by a large rear diffuser.

Earlier in August, Acura gave us teasers of the ARX-05 Daytona Prototype race car. And last Thursday night in Monterey, they have decided to finally reveal it to the public.

What the company has confirmed so far is that the Acura ARX-05 will be competing at next year’s IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. The race car is going to have the same chassis as the ORECA 07 while featuring a typical Acura specific bodywork. It will also be getting a pair of Jewel Eye headlights.

The ARX-05 race car is going to be powered by a twin-turbo AR35TT engine according to the company. This engine is similar to that of the 3.5 liter V6 from models like the MDX, TLX, and RLX.

A few months ago, Mercedes-Benz promised that they will be treating everyone to a “big surprise” during the Monterey Car Week. And true enough, many of us were stunned as they unveiled the all electric Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 Cabriolet convertible version of the hardtop model that made its debut at Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance last year.

Just like an art piece, this model is no doubt a head turner just like its predecessor. The Vision 6 Cabriolet stretches out to nineteen feet in length, and it sits on 24-inch wheels. Its hood appears extra long, while the tail tapers uniquely to a certain point. The front fascia gets a huge grille finished in chrome, which contrasts with the slim headlights. Mercedes actually refers to the rear end as a “boat tail”, complementing the Nautical Blue Metallic name for the exterior finish.

The Vision 6 Cabriolet’s interior completely stands out from the exterior. The two-seater cabin is finished in a clean white interior with silver accents - from the seats, the dashboard, to the steering wheel. The center console gets a wing-like “flowing” design that is given an ambient blue lighting around the elements, as well as the door panels. The illuminated dots around the seats all have tiny backlit Mercedes logos.
