The PEUGEOT 2008 first rolled out in the automotive market in 2013 and instantly became a hit, especially to British customers. The buyers liked the idea of elegance and dynamic performance integrated into one spectacular vehicle. Since then, sales volume has been consistently blooming. Over 500,000 units have already been produced globally. In Europe, the success is demonstrated by a firmly established podium place in the segment.
About 40,000 units have been sold in the United Kingdom (UK) alone since its arrival in 2013. Today, the PEUGEOT 2008 is taking on a more elaborate and appealing SUV design. Built for everyday use, the PEUGEOT 2008 comes with wheel arch extensions (from Allure level), scuff plates (from Allure level), and new vertical front grille. The new Ultimate Red color further states the boldness of the PEUGEOT 2008.
The all-new 'GT Line' model complements the Access, Active, and Allure levels. The trim level has always been a top choice on other PEUGEOT models such as the 208, 308, and 508. It boasts an athletic theme matched with red or black colored features. The compact SUV offers unparalleled performance and unique driving experience. Its sharp styling signifies its new strength and character and increases the vehicle's robustness and delivery.Read the entire article Facelift Peugeot 2008 compact SUV is unveiled
With inputs from Dakar experts like Stéphane Peterhansel (11-time Dakar champ), Carlos Sainz (a two-time world rally champion and former Dakar winner) and Cyril Despres (a five-time Dakar winner on bikes), engineers were able to precisely analyze and implement possible improvements to create the latest version of the 2008 DKR.
Peugeot gradually applied the improvements and assessed them by conducting a series of tests. The tests culminated in a one-two finish for Peterhansel and Despres on the recent China Silk Road Rally. Peterhansel and Despres piloted an interim-specification car, which basically was the 2015 model that had been fitted with several development parts for the 2016 version.Read the entire article Peugeot unveils updated 2008 DKR16 rally car
The Peugeot 2008 DKR made quite a buzz when it was revealed earlier this year and honestly we can’t wait to see how it performs at the 2015 Dakar Rally with just two driven wheels. Today, the French carmaker released further details and specs of its brand new monster and says that the DKR can practically climb vertical walls.
Of course, we don’t believe this, but we must admit that the video released by the company amazed us. According to Peugeot, the 2008 DKR is powered by a 3.0-liter V6 biturbo diesel delivering 340 hp and 800 Nm.
The engine is positioned mid-rear and offers a top speed of 200 km/h or 124 mph. Power is delivered to only two wheels via the longitudinally-mounted six-speed manual sequential gearbox. In addition, there is a longer suspension travel (460 mm instead of 250 mm) that enhances the ability over dunes and when soaking up uneven ground.Read the entire article Peugeot 2008 DKR gets a V6 biturbo diesel with 340 hp [w/video]
We already know that the Peugeot 2008 made quite a buzz on the market and the French carmaker saw some impressive sales. As a result, Peugeot is considering a three-door version of the 2008 crossover.
If built, the new crossover will sit below the 2008 and will use a shortened version of the crossover’s platform, which means a total length of around 3,900 mm or 300 mm shorter than the current 2008.
Dubbed 2008 RX, the new Peugeot is expected to use the same engines found on the 2008. This means that we will find a 1.2-liter VTi engine that delivers 81 bhp and a bigger 1.6-liter engine that generates 118 bhp.Read the entire article Peugeot considering 2008 RX three-door crossover
The Peugeot 2008 DKR has a muscular yet beastlike appearance that clearly conveys its quest for success. This well-oiled machine will be piloted by Carlos Sainz and Cyril Despres as Team Peugeot Total takes on the Dakar Rally in January.
The unveiling of the 2008 DKR to the public as the team’s main racing car comes three weeks after it was announced that Peugeot, Red Bull and Total are joining hands for the 2015 Dakar. Of course, the 2008 DKR looks similar to Peugeot's road-going crossover from which it was based. However, in terms of overall looks, the 2008 DKR has more imposing overall proportions and more muscular forms. Its impressive lines are a result of the collaboration between the people of Peugeot's Style Centre and those at Peugeot Sport's Design Department. With that, the 2008 DKR has a remarkable likeness to the production version.
Of course, the 2008 DKR isn't just a styling exercise or a design study. The technical limitations linked with the Dakar Rally are what influenced its dominantly aggressive stance.Read the entire article Peugeot 2008 DKR ready to conquer the 2015 Dakar Rally [w/video]
PSA/Peugeot-Citroen will hike output of the Peugeot 2008 after getting 120,000 orders for the subcompact SUV. The daily output of the 2008 will be hiked by 25 percent to 860 vehicles, PSA said in a statement, at its Mulhouse site in France, which will add a partial shift to accommodate the higher demand.
This will be the fifth time since April 2013 – when the 2008 was launched -- that the SUV’s output was raised, said Pierre-Olivier Salmon, a company spokesman. PSA is also planning to hike output of the new Peugeot 308 after receiving 60,000 orders as demand for the compact hatchback remains high.
The output increase could be a potential turning point for the French carmaker that has already shuttered its Aulnay site in 2013 and has been working to cut 11,200 local jobs.Read the entire article PSA to increase Peugeot 2008 output for fifth time on surging demand
Peugeot has been boasting of its innovative Grip Control enhanced traction technology in the Peugeot 2008 Crossover, and perhaps there is no better way to prove its effectiveness than to field a demonstration of its capability. During the vehicle's launch event for UK media, Peugeot brought journalists into the Snowdome in Tamworth, Staffs.
Upon their arrival at the Snowdome, journalists were greeted by examples of the all-new Peugeot 2008 Crossover at the base of the 170-meter ski slope. Peugeot then had the journalists drive a 2008 without Grip Control, and they found it hard to even drive a few meters on the hard-packed snow. Then, they were made to drive another 2008, this time with Grip Control.
This enhanced traction technology coupled with all season tires – which is standard for every car with Grip Control – allowed the Peugeot 2008 climb with ease the top of the ski slope, which boasts of an average gradient of 27 degrees and a 90-degree corner. The demonstration did not stop there.Read the entire article Peugeot 2008 Crossover comes with Grip Control tech
PSA/Peugeot-Citroen will increase the monthly output of the Peugeot 2008 small sports utility vehicle from 5,000 units to 10,000.
