As part of its proactive approach to reducing fuel consumption and emissions, Peugeot is unveiling its new Peugeot 208 HYbrid Air 2L Demonstrator at the Paris Motor Show next month. The moniker 2L refers to its estimated fuel consumption of two liters per 100 km, which is equivalent to 141mpg. The new Peugeot 208 HYbrid Air 2L Demonstrator is derived from a production version of the Peugeot 208 1.2-liter PureTech 82hp 5-seater Hatchback.
To allow the new model to attain such a level of fuel economy, Peugeot and its project partners employed technologies typically found in competition and luxury models. For instance, the new Peugeot 208 HYbrid Air 2L Demonstrator – at just 860 kg – is around 100 kg lighter the production car, thanks to the employment of steel, aluminum and composites.
Engineers made sure that the only materials compatible with current production facilities and a high manufacturing output are chosen for the new concept. This process could reduce fuel consumption without having to tweak the car's attributes, allowing the concept to feature a high-end style.Read the entire article 2014 Paris Motor Show Preview: Peugeot unveils 208 Hybrid Air Concept
After one teaser, Peugeot officially unveiled the 208 GTi 30th anniversary edition with the occasion of the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed. In addition, the lower stance is accentuated by matt black side skirts, wheel arches and by the 18-inch matt black rims. Behind the wheels we find 232 mm brake discs at the front and Brembo fixed four-piston calipers.
Moreover, the chrome finishers were replaced by matt black, while the front shows new grille surround, foglamp bezels and door mirror shells. The front wheels show large red Peugeot Sport labeled brake calipers, while the window rear weather strip pays homage to the iconic 205 GTi.Read the entire article 2015 Peugeot 208 GTi 30th Anniversary Edition becomes official

This is the Peugeot 208 Hybrid FE Concept that’s was introduced at the IAA in Frankfurt. There are reports that the concept’s weight is lower than the base 1.0-liter VTi version (with a weight of 2,149 lbs (975 kg) by 440 lbs (200 kg). The Peugeot 208 Hybrid FE Concept has differences from the regular car.
It features a rear diffuser to boost the air flow, a set of aero-optimized 19-inch alloy wheels covered in narrow tires, together with cameras that took the place of the conventional exterior mirrors. The two suspensions include a fiber glass "blade" that functions as a wishbone, with a spring and anti-roll bar combined, saving 20kg.
The hybrid module (which includes a 90-cell lithium-ion battery pack) is adapted from the 908 Hybrid 4 Le Mans and offers 40 bhp (30 kW) that’s delivered through a semi-automatic 5-speed transmission. It is expected to use electric power for as far as 12 miles (19 km).Read the entire article 2013 IAA: Peugeot 208 Hybrid FE Concept breaks cover at the Messe [Live Photos]
Peugeot and Total combined their forces and unveiled the 208 Hybrid FE Concept, a full petrol hybrid without a plug-in energy source. According to the official press release, the 208 Hybrid FE Concept is powered by a 1.2-liter VTi-FE petrol engine delivering 68 bhp, enough to push the car from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 8.0 seconds while using just 2 liters of fuel per 100 km.
Moreover, the 208 Hybrid FE Concept emits only 49g/km of CO2. The 208 Hybrid FC is also more aerodynamic comparing it with the standard version as the Cd improves by 25% to a value slightly lower than 0.25.
This numbers was obtained by using a new floating grille, removing disrupting components from the body sides and using specially developed Michelin tyres on the 19-inch alloy wheels on which the carbon aerodynamic flaps fill the space between each spokes.Read the entire article Peugeot 208 HYbrid FE Concept announced for 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA)
Peugeot Sport and ace driver Sébastien Loeb set up a camp at Pikes Peak in Colorado, United States for the first official practice sessions for the 2013 Pikes Peak Hill Climb. During the morning briefs before the first official practice runs, the Race Director asked drivers to take extra care, as water on the roadside snow had frozen overnight.
All of the teams and drivers who participated in the first official practice sessions, including Peugeot Sport and Loeb, have one thing in mind – capture the Pikes Peak hill climb crown on June 30, 2013.
Teams and drivers indeed have to take extra effort and extra care if they want to come out on top of the field on the big event. Not rushing things, Peugeot Sport and Loeb have adopted a one-step-at-a-time approach in order to make certain their strong performance on the hill climb challenge.Read the entire article Peugeot Sport made first practice run for 2013 Pikes Peak Hill Climb
Sebastien Loeb is a nine-time consecutive WRC world champion, and yet he was still amazed by Peugeot’s latest offering – the Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak. Upon arriving at a high-security track at La Ferté-Vidame in France, Loeb believed he was just doing a routine test session. But after a few laps with the Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak, he felt he was in for a new kind of thrill.
After the session, Loeb compared the 208 T16 Pikes Peak to a rocket, saying it is “so powerful!” He said that each gear change “practically stuns you.” He added that shifts are “brutal,” saying that and it takes a little time “to anticipate the sudden jarring.” But what really amazed Loeb is the 208 T16 Pikes Peak’s acceleration. “I’ve never driven anything that accelerates so fast!” Loeb said.
He remarked that in the lower gears, a Formula 1 car doesn’t deliver maximum power, but the 208 T16 Pikes Peak’s pull-away performance is phenomenal. He said that a driver of the vehicle could find himself in sixth gear at “240kph in no time at all.”Read the entire article Sebastien Loeb amazed with the Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak
We finally got our first teaser image of the Peugeot 208 T16 that Sebastien Loeb will drive at the Pikes Peak hillclimb this year. On June 30, the nine-time WRC champion will take part in the 'Unlimited' class. For this year, the car has a profile that’s similar to the roadgoing 208. It is a very extreme model that makes use of the minimal limits of the Unlimited class.
Michael Trouve, who oversees silhouette design at Peugeot's Styling Centre, said that because of the bodywork modifications, the 208 takes on a look that’s almost the same as that of a beast. Trove said that working with some technical limitations, they created an “extreme” version of the 208. Trove supposedly had this sentiment after considering the 208 T16.
Among the features that it believes are the key to winning at the event are its big front and rear wings and wildly flared wheel arches to fit in the bigger wheels and brakes. The Pikes Peak for 2013 marks only the second time that the event has taken place on a totally paved track, after it was completed last year.Read the entire article Peugeot 208 T16 shows up ahead of 2013 Pikes Peak Hill Climb
Peugeot, with the help of key partners: Total, Red Bull, Michelin and Sébastien Loeb, will be participating at the 2013 Pikes Peak Hill Climb in Colorado, USA, on June 30. The Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak will be joining the race. Peugeot has previously triumphed using the iconic 205 T16 and 405 T16 Pikes Peak.
The automaker has embarked on a global campaign that includes raising sales worldwide and reaping the success of its new 208. Almost a century ago, Peugeot got its first racing win at Indianapolis. Since then, it has achieved multiple wins in several formidable motor sports events such as the Pikes Peak Hill Climb.
In fact, the movie ‘Climb Dance’ talks about how Ari Vatanen broke records in the 1988 event in the 405 T16. Peugeot had its second win in this famous hill in 1989 with Robby Unser behind the wheel. Last year, the Pikes Peak Hill Climb’s course was finally entirely asphalted.Read the entire article Peugeot returns to the Pikes Peak Hill Climb with the 208 T16

The demand for the Peugeot 208 subcompact has been weak in Europe due to the condition of the industry so its output will be reduced by PSA/Peugeot-Citroen. A Peugeot spokesperson told Automotive News Europe that the company is cutting producing and lowering its sales outlook for the 208.
The spokesperson declined to confirm reports from the media about Peugeot’s target to sell 140,000 units of the 208 in 2012 instead of the 175,000 it had initially set out to accomplish. Last Friday, the Wall Street Journal said that starting on Oct. 10, the hourly output of the 208 will be reduced at plant in Poissy, west of Paris, from 52 to 35. In addition, it will drop one of the three shifts in Poissy in early December.
A CGT union representative told Automotive News Europe that Peugeot will remove its night shift for the production of the 208 at Poissy at the end of November. He also said that Peugeot intends to get rid of 850 temporary worker positions at the site by the end of 2012. The Peugeot spokesperson said that the brand still hopes to get a 10% share in the subcompact segment in Europe by the end of 2013.Read the entire article Peugeot reduces 208 output due to weak demand in Europe

Peugeot introduced today the all-new 208 GTI, a production version of the 208 GTI Concept unveiled back in February. Set to make its world debut at the 2012 Paris Motor Show this month, the new car is powered by the 1.6-litre THP 200bhp petrol engine delivering 200 hp and 275Nm.
With these numbers, the 2013 Peugeot 208 GTI hits 100 km/g (62 mph) in less than 7.0 seconds and is able to accelerate from 80 to 120 km/h (50 to 75 mph) in less than 7.0 seconds in 5th gear.
Light in weight, at 1160kg, the 208 GTi achieves a real feat by emitting CO2 at just 145g/km. This means that this sporty hatch is with 165 kg lighter than the 207 GTI. In terms of design, there’s nothing new, comparing it with the 208 GTI Concept.Read the entire article 2012 Paris Motor Show Preview: Peugeot debuts the all-new 208 GTI
The production version of the Peugeot 208 GTI will make its global debut this September at the Paris Motor Show. The 208 GTI will be mostly unchanged from the concept, which was unveiled at the Geneva show in early 2012. It is powered by the same turbocharged 1.6-litre engine that the Citroën DS3 and Mini are equipped with.
The GTI is likely to start selling in early 2013 and will be available in either 154bhp or 204bhp, which may be dubbed GTI Racing and could accelerate from zero to 60mph in less than 7.0 seconds.
But Peugeot chiefs said that the car won’t be as focused as the Renault Clio 200. They think that it doesn’t make sense on the business aspect to produce a hot hatch that is heavily concentrated on hard-edged performance.Read the entire article 2013 Peugeot 208 GTI to debut at the Paris Motor Show
Independent organisation Euro NCAP has revised its criteria, making it more difficult to get high star ratings. However, Peugeot 208 is just built so well that it took the highest rating possible for a newly introduced level of award. The 208 is the first car in its segment to earn 5 stars. What Project 208 aimed to build was a compact car that’s comfortable, economic and with impressive road handling.
The 208 appears smaller on the outside but is actually bigger on the inside, making it practical for daily usage, specifically in an urban setting. It also offers more comfort. Its new architecture reflects an additional advantage.
The weight of the 208 is 110kg lower on average than the 207. This means that it produces lower CO2 emissions as well as offers outstanding fuel consumption. Because of the reduced weight, the running costs also drop. Even the safety performance of the car is improved by the decreased weight. Each kilogram that is dropped results to a reduction in energy to displace.Read the entire article 2012 Peugeot 208 earns 5 stars at the Euro NCAP crash test
Peugeot Sport has unveiled the 208 R2, the first competition version of its 208 model, which will undergo a test of fire this week at the Tour de Corse in France. Peugeot 208’s competition version, dubbed as R2, will be driven as a “zero” car by Stéphane Sarrazin and Benjamin Veillas at the Tour de Corse on May 10 to May 12.
The 208 R2 will be powered by a naturally-aspirated, 1600cc engine specifically developed to comply with Group R racing regulations. The R2’s engine was based on the 1.6 VTi made for some variants of the 208 road car, which is currently on sale across Europe. Peugeot Sports developed the engine to reach the 185-hp limit set on the racing brief.
Peugeot Sports, however, managed to retain the engine’s good qualities -- low fuel consumption and low CO2 emissions – despite the tuning done. Peugeot Sports endowed R2’s engine with variable valve timing (VVT) for the intake and exhaust.Read the entire article Peugeot Sport unveils the 208 R2
