Volvo’s performance brand, Polestar, is all-set to redefine the way people purchase their new vehicles. But even before it rolls out it this innovative brand and retail concept, Polestar is opening its very first showroom based on traditional network of dealerships. Its new showrooms – to be called as Polestar Spaces – will have it first brick-and-mortar location in Oslo, Norway. The Polestar Space in Oslo will commence its operations in the middle of 2019.
Thomas Ingenlath, chief executive of Polestar, called Polestar Spaces as a vital part of the brand’s customer experience, as it serves as the location where the carmaker physically meets its customers. The new Polestar Space will be found on Ovre Slottsgate in downtown Oslo, as located in a prominent retail environment along with other progressive brand stores.
Actually, the performance brand’s choice of location didn’t come as a surprise. According to a report by The Detroit News, Wahlberg has announced that he is opening a car dealership – his very first -- Columbus, Ohio. Wahlberg’s car dealership is a result of partnership inked with seasoned car dealer, Jay Feldman. A businessman in his own right, Feldman is an owner of not just one, but eight Chevrolet dealerships across southeast and mid-Michigan. The report says that Wahlberg and Feldman have been friends for years now, and are partners in Wahlburgers restaurants in Cleveland and Georgia.

After all, the dealership bears his name -- Mark Wahlberg Chevrolet, and it is located in a former Chevrolet dealership the duo has bought in 3900 W. Broad St., Columbus. Genesis and Hyundai are finally working together to begin the establishment of a network of Genesis-exclusive dealerships in the United States.
It was just last Friday when a statement confirmed that existing Hyundai dealers in the United States were offered the opportunity to establish separate Genesis franchises. In other words, dealerships that already sell Genesis vehicles today will finally be able to apply for a Genesis franchise if they wish to do so. The automaker actually hopes to establish a network of around 100 retailers by the end of this year.
In the United States, there are around 350 Hyundai dealerships that carry Genesis models. And when the franchises begin to pop up, then this will help cement the idea of Genesis being a standalone brand, more than a sub brand of Hyundai. This also permits Genesis specific franchises only to perform warranty work. Initially, they will have a selection process for this, choosing from a limited number of dealers who are party to the Genesis Participation Agreemen. Very recently, Polestar unveiled its very first production model in the form of the Polestar 1 high-performance hybrid coupe. Yet, there are already people who are wondering how a Polestar 1 would look like once it transforms into a convertible. Imagining such could be hard, so a rendering by graphic artist X-Tomi could provide some help.
X-Tomi had actually rendered the Polestar 1 coupe as the Polestar 1 shooting brake or estate wagon. This version of the Polestar comes with a full-length roof and a rear end similar to a hatchback. It was just a few days ago that Polestar officially took off the wraps from its very first production model called the Polestar 1. While this was inspired by a vintage-inspired coupe, it comes with modern technology and a powerful plug-in hybrid powertrain. At first glance, one may be reminded of the Volvo P1800. This has led to it being imagined as a shooting brake like that of the P1800ES. In fact, an artist from X-Tomi Design already made a rendering of the long-roof model as early as now.
But instead of rendering it to look like the P1800ES with a huge rear glass, it was the outgoing V90 wagon that gave X-Tomi Design the inspiration. It was designed with a higher roof that appears to give the cabin more space and comfort, while also replacing the tiny bench in the back of the standard Polestar 1 coupe.
Whether this is a coincidence or not, Volvo has actually already considered a vehicle much like the Polestar 1 shooting brake, and it was introduced back in 2014 as the Concept Estate. After months of dropping online teasers, Polestar finally reveals its very first production car virtually. After a number of failed attempts, Tesla finally gets an Arizona dealership license by winning a court battle that allows them to sell directly to consumers. The automotive dealer license is a standard license traditional automotive dealerships are required to hold in order to sell vehicles.
Late last year, the DMV issued a dealer license to Tesla, which had only been approved last week after a Maricopa County administrative law judge confirmed that the process for blocking such a license from the Arizona Department of Transportation did not apply to Tesla in the first place.

Volvo disclosed that following the acquisition of Polestar, the new subsidiary will be tasked with working on the planned lineup of electric vehicles. This is expected as Polestar has a long history when it comes to racing.

Volvo Cars, which has recently purchased Swedish race-car maker Polestar, seeks to be able to compete with Mercedes-AMG and BMW's M models. The contracts of each of Toyota’s about 500 new car dealerships in Germany have been canceled effective May 31. The automaker is setting up a one-tier network as it hopes to stop a sales decline in the market. Thomas Schalberger, the head of Toyota Germany communications, said that the automaker wants to set up this network by June 1, 2016.
He said that letters of cancellation were sent to new car dealerships last Monday. Drafts that outline the partnerships based on new-car agreements were sent together with the cancellations. However, not all of the dealers received them.
Schalberger said that over the next 12 months, the dealerships will need to adapt their structures to the changes in market conditions. Software that will make it more difficult to mistakenly sell a new General Motors vehicle that is being recalled will roll out this month. These software tools will be phased in during the third quarter. Tim Turvey, GM global vice president of customer care and aftersales, said that the company looks at safety as “a core value, a core priority.”
The first step is an “incentive lookup block.” GM said that with this software, dealerships will have to first perform the recall work as needed.
Dealerships won’t be able to look up the incentives that apply to a specific vehicle if it is part of a recall and no record of work is seen.
