X-Tomi had actually rendered the Polestar 1 coupe as the Polestar 1 shooting brake or estate wagon. This version of the Polestar comes with a full-length roof and a rear end similar to a hatchback. In a way, the Polestar 1 shooting brake would allow Polestar to offer a unique mix of performance, range and practicality. It looks gorgeous too.
Now, X-Tomi didn’t stop at the shooting brake rendering. He chopped off the roof, the B- and C-pillars, and then added some features that we would usually find in a convertible. It was just a few days ago that Polestar officially took off the wraps from its very first production model called the Polestar 1. While this was inspired by a vintage-inspired coupe, it comes with modern technology and a powerful plug-in hybrid powertrain. At first glance, one may be reminded of the Volvo P1800. This has led to it being imagined as a shooting brake like that of the P1800ES. In fact, an artist from X-Tomi Design already made a rendering of the long-roof model as early as now.
But instead of rendering it to look like the P1800ES with a huge rear glass, it was the outgoing V90 wagon that gave X-Tomi Design the inspiration. It was designed with a higher roof that appears to give the cabin more space and comfort, while also replacing the tiny bench in the back of the standard Polestar 1 coupe.
Whether this is a coincidence or not, Volvo has actually already considered a vehicle much like the Polestar 1 shooting brake, and it was introduced back in 2014 as the Concept Estate. After months of dropping online teasers, Polestar finally reveals its very first production car virtually. The Polestar 1 is a two-door coupe that gets its design inspiration from the 2013 Volvo Concept Coupe. It then shares an SPA platform that underpins the “90” series cars and the newest XC60. A racing team is claiming that it has managed to break the lap record in its category in the ever-demanding Nurburgring circuit in 2016 while driving a road-going Volvo S60 Polestar, but it elected to keep things in secrecy – until now.

Volvo Cars, which has recently purchased Swedish race-car maker Polestar, seeks to be able to compete with Mercedes-AMG and BMW's M models. Previous reports said that Volvo was planning a V40 Polestar but according to company’s powertrain boss Derek Crabb this is not true. Why? Because each of the individual markets want a different model such as a V40, XC60 or S60.

Although the idea of a powerful plug-in hybrid car is something new, that didn’t stop Polestar to take a closer look at the Volvo V60 Plug-In Hybrid. For those who don’t know, this model uses a 2.4-liter turbodiesel engine that generates 215 hp and 440 Nm of torque, as well as an electric motor with 68 hp and 200 Nm.

Volvo has rolled off the first Volvo S60 and V60 Polestar from its Volvo Torslanda site for delivery to its first owners. Volvo’s Torslanda site recently marked 50 years of production with a total of over 6.8 million cars rolling off its production line, starting from the Amazon in 1964 and to the Volvo S60 and V60 Polestar.
The Polestar model also marked the first time the site produced a vehicle for an independent partner. Henrik Fries, S/V60 Polestar Technical Project Manager, expressed delight in rolling off of the first Polestar from the Volvo factory.

Volvo will release a new C30 Polestar edition model in the U.S. that costs $32,445. The interest for the Volvo C30 hatchback failed to match the popularity of the newer S60 compact sports sedan but this special edition model is expected to have a better showing. Volvo is launching versions of the V40 hatchback that are expected to help restore the automaker’s reputation for producing top-performing vehicles. At the end of 2011, a 254hp T5 version of the new V40 hatchback will be launched. Volvo had once been the favorite of fast-barge fans for the T5 & R versions of the 850 and V70. The T5 shares a lot of its underpinnings with the front-drive Focus ST.
