2012 Qatar Motor Show: Bugatti unveils an exclusive Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport

At the 2012 Qatar Motor Show, Bugatti unveiled an exclusive and uniquely coloured Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport a.k.a. world’s fastest and most powerful open top car. As you can see from the photos, the car comes in a black and yellow combination, Ettore Bugatti’s favorite colors (although we loved the legendary Bugatti blue color). The black colour is actually carbon fiber and this makes the Veyron Grand Sport even more exclusive.

The design is completed by the black-tinted wheels. The theme is also continued at the interior and the vehicle features seats finished in yellow-colored leather with black stitching. The middle console is in black carbon, while the dashboard, steering wheel and gearshift are made of black leather with yellow stitching.

Under the hood, we find the same 8.0-liter quad-turbocharged W16 engine delivering an impressive 1,000 hp and capable to push the car to a top speed of 407 km/h with the roof on, while with the roof off the speed is “limited” to 350 km/h. The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse unveiled during the 2012 Geneva Motor Show last month has been making headlines. Why not? It is one of the few cars in the world that surpass a thousand horsepower.  The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse is powered by an 8.0-liter W16 quad-turbocharged engine that could provide up to 1,200 hp of output and 1,500 Nm of torque.

Other supercars pale in comparison with the Grand Sport Vitesse, even its standard Grand Sport elder sibling. The Grand Sport is powered by an engine that delivers around 1,000 hp of output and 1,250 of torque – already so superbly powerful, but is definitely no match for the Grand Sport Vitesse.

According to Bugatti, they were able to squeeze almost 200 hp more from the same engine by installing four enlarged turbochargers and intercoolers.  To handle the tremendous power brought forth by the engine, Bugatti modified the chassis of the Grand Sport Vitesse.

The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport was a huge success thanks to its powerful 7.9-liter W16 engine that could provide an astounding 1,200 hp (882 kW) of output and a massive amount of torque. Now that this same engine is being fitted to the new Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse, it is no wonder that this targa-topped model would easily attract customers.

He noted that Bugatti eventually managed to fit this W16 engine to the Grand Sport while factoring in all vehicle dynamics and aerodynamic parameters. And this 1,200 hp Grand Sport Vitesse is being unveiled to the world at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show as the fastest roadster ever.

Supporting the claim of the new Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse is a W16 engine that delivers 1,200 hp of max output at 6,400 rpm as well as 1,500 Nm of peak torque available between 3,000 rpm and 5,000 rpm – making its around 199 hp output more powerful than the Grand Sport. One of the many topics discussed was how to respond to a worldwide population that is increasing, ageing and becoming more urban. It has been forecasted that there will be 9.2 billion people in the world by 2050, an increase from around 7 billion today and 8 billion by 2030. The number of vehicles on the streets is estimated to rise from 700 million to 3 billion by 2050. This means that there will be lots of traffic congestion and emissions depending on the type of vehicle that people will be driving.
