Audi CEO confirms there won't be a Sport Quattro Concept production version

Sorry to say this to the Sport Quattro Concept fanatics. If you guys have been hoping for the production of this iconic concept to begin, prepare for your dreams to be quashed. Stephan Winkelmann, CEO of Audi Sport, has no interest in producing the said model. Although Winkelmann referred to it as a “nice dream,” he feels like there is so much more to take care of in the company, and that as of now, it is not his top priority. Instead, the Audi CEO is currently focusing on the company’s lineup.

In 2010, Audi initially launched the RS5 concept to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Quattro, as a contemporary version of the original Quattro sports coupe (first launched in 1980 at the Geneva Motor Show). This was followed by an update in 2013 when they presented the Sport Quattro with a hybrid 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 TFSI engine, boasting an output of 690 horsepower (515 kilowatts) and 590 pound-feet (800 NM) of torque, wearing a stunning yellow paint.

And just a year later at the 2014 Consumer Electronics show, the red Sport Quattro Laserlight concept made its debut, again with added features such as the laser-assisted matrix LED headlights. Unconfirmed reports say that a production version is in the plans and had long been expected to arrive after all these years of concepts being showcased.

Audi e-Tron Quattro Concept previews an electric future at Frankfurt

Audi is launching the e-tron quattro concept: a statement of how the brand sees electric mobility in the future. The all-electric drive system found on the new concept car combines well with the aerodynamic design. Its dynamic appearance is highlighted by the fact that its flat greenhouse narrows to the rear.

The e-tron quattro has a length of 4.88 meters, a width of 1.93 meters, and a height of 1.54 meters. SUVs in general have a drag coefficient of more than 0.30 but the e-tron quattro stands at 0.25. This is the reason why Audi’s SUV can go for more than 500 kilometers or 310 miles.

When the car reaches speeds of 50mph or more, the many aerodynamic elements on its hood, flanks, and rear portion are activated electronically and direct the air flow as necessary in order to improve the flow around and through the car. This is the result of rigorous development work on the wind tunnel. When inside the car, engine noise as well as wind noise cannot be heard. Thus, one is able to enjoy the full pleasure of driving an electric car in almost complete silence.

2014 Worthersee: Audi unveils A3 Clubsport Quattro Concept, previews RS3 Sedan?

At the 2014 Worthersee Meeting in Reifniz (Karten) from May 28-31, Audi will bring the A3 Clubsport Quattro Concept. If you ask us, this new concept car actually previews the new Audi RS3 Sedan, but for the moment we don’t have any official details. The dramatic new A3 Clubsport Quattro Concept is based on the S3 Sedan but comes with a 2.5-liter TFSI engine found on the RS Q3.

The engine delivers an impressive 525 hp (386 kW) and a maximum torque of 600 Nm (442 lb-ft) of torque, available between 2,300 and 6,000 rpm. With these numbers, the A3 Clubsport Quattro Concept accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.6 seconds, while top speed is electronically limited at 310 km/h or 192.6 mph.

In order to achieve these performances, the concept car suffered extensive modifications as Audi added a larger turbocharger with up to 1.5 bar of relative boost pressure as well as a modified intercooler. Compared with the standard S3 Sedan, the A3 Clubsport Quattro Concept is 10 mm lowers. Moreover, the concept comes with big 21-inch alloy wheels, while behind them we find 370 mm brake discs (front).

2014 Geneva Motor Show: Audi TT Sport Quattro Concept is a welcomed surprise

Audi didn’t stop with the all-new TT and TTS but also unveiled the brand new TT Quattro Sport Concept at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. In our opinion, this new concept car actually previews the next-generation TT-RS.

As you can see from the photos, this new concept car comes with a new body kit consisting of a new front bumper with large air intakes, a big singleframe grille, a front end splitter made from carbon fiber, extended fenders (30 millimeters (1.18 in)), new side sill, a new rear air diffuser with integrated exhaust system featuring two big pipes and a new rear wing.

The design of the car is completed by the 20-inch wheels with a central locking mechanism and wrapped in semi-slick tires but also by the Crystal White paint finish. Inside, we find plenty of Alcantara, even the door handles are in fact a diagonal strip of Alcantara. Moreover, there are two low-set racing buckets featuring black four-point seat belts with white accentuating stripes.

Audi’s new Sport Quattro Concept made its global debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA). This new concept is designed to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Sport Quattro, which was actually introduced at the 1983 IAA. The new Sport Quattro Concept has a wheelbase of 2,784 millimeters. In addition, it has the following dimensions: 4,602 millimeters in length, 1,964 millimeters in width, and a height of only 1,386 millimeters.

When it comes to the design, the new car boasts of angular, flat C-pillars, rectangular double headlights with Matrix LED technology (which we first saw on the new Audi A8 Facelift) and a new hexagonal single-frame grille. Its rear end features rectangular tail lights and a spoiler that extends from the rear hatch at higher speeds.

The driver is obviously the focus of its interior since the steering wheel, digital instrument cluster and head-up display are in his or her direct field of view. Furthermore, it is fitted with sporty racing bucket seats with folding backs. Its interior features the touchwheel of the characteristic Audi MMI control unit that makes entering data easy. It is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that delivers 560 hp and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque.

As we told you here, Audi is set to reveal a new version of the Quattro Concept car at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA). Dubbed Sport Quattro Concept, the new vehicle is a plug-in hybrid, powered by the 4.0-liter V8 petrol engine used by the RS7, RS6 models but also by an electric motor that delivers 150 hp.

As a result, the Sport Quattro Concept delivers an impressive 600 hp and will be able to hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 3.0 seconds and a top speed of 200 mph or 320 km/h. Just like any other e-tron model, the Sport Quattro Concept will be able to be used as an electric vehicle, but the range will be limited. According to Car and Driver, the Sport Quattro Concept uses Audi’s modular-longitudinal MLB architecture and will offer enough room for four persons. A carbon fiber framework was used to keep the weight down.

The new Audi Sport quattro concept car is inspired by the Audi quattro study that was ahead by around three years. The Audi Sport quattro is essentially a fusion of the design DNA of the Ur-quattro as well as dramatic elegance. Riding on 21-inch wheels, the Audi Sport quattro concept car features a taut body, a powerful stance on the road, balanced proportions and short overhangs.

Car Magazine reports that Audi has dropped the project to produce the Quattro Concept from the 2010 Paris Motor Show. Instead, it is developing another crossover. It was nearly a couple of years ago since it first witnessed the Ur-Quattro-aping Quattro concept. In the meantime, the viability of the car’s production has waned.

The individual design elements have been used in other concepts and cars (which include the concepts that were displayed in this year’s Paris Motor Show). But it appears now that we could no longer expect the Quattro concept to arrive. Car Magazine said that Audi rounded up some figures but couldn’t come up with a compelling case to build another low-volume sports coupe, especially since the TT and R8 will persist to be built for the new generations.

With the success that Audi has reached with the Q3, Q5, and Q7, it realized that a profit could be made from crossovers. The report also said that the Quattro will be replaced by some type of SUV-coupe, which will probably be based on the Q2. On the other hand, the Q2 will be based on Audi’s Crosslane Concept that made its debut at the recently held Paris show.

Audi will make the decision on whether the Quattro Concept will enter production on the eve of the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show this September. According to Quattro GmbH boss Stephan Reil, the final decision was delayed; however, he is "optimistic" that the concept will be approved for production. The vehicle debuted at the 2010 Paris Auto Show last fall. Reil was at the launch of the Audi Q3 crossover in Switzerland. He considers "a small-volume exotic car with a production run of 500-1,000 cars” to be the best solution.

He explained that reaching a target weight of 3,086 pounds would mean that plenty of “exotic materials" have to be used but this will mean low volumes and a high price.

But then, it would be the best way to show off Audi's 'Ultra' lightweight technologies. Reil said that the RS5-derived engine will require a major overhaul for it to be “successfully integrated” to the bespoke aluminum chassis. He added that it requires more power than the RS5 and that it would have to be mounted longitudinally instead of transversely.

Audi revealed today the Quattro Concept, a new car that marks the 30th anniversary of the debut of the Quattro (first car was shown in 1980, at the Geneva Motor Show).

The car is powered by the five-cylinder 2.5-liter engine found on the TT RS, delivering an impressive 408 hp and 480 Newton meters (354.03 lb-ft) of torque (the TT RS delivers 340 hp).

Quattro Concept can accelerate to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.9 seconds while the top speed achieved is limited electronically to 250 km/h (155 mph). Still, the 408-hp five-cylinder engine achieves a fuel economy of just 8.5 liters/100 km (27.67 US mpg).

As standard, the Centoventi comes out of the factory with one battery that delivers a range of 100 km. If a customer needs to travel a longer distance, he or she may opt to install another battery to give the Centoventi a total range of 200 km.

Aston Martin’s Lagonda luxury marque is confirming its plans to launch an all-new crossover in the near future by unveiling a new concept at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. Dubbed as the Lagonda All-Terrain Concept, this show car essentially serves as a preview to the brand’s upcoming crossover.

According to Lagonda, the All-Terrain Concept is an ultra-stylish, luxurious, all-electric emission-free vehicle. This marks a new step into the brand’s goal of becoming the first luxury electric automotive brand in the world. The All-Terrain Concept basically builds on the designs and materials in the Lagonda Vision Concept that was unveiled last year. While the Vision Concept was design to be driven purely on the road, the All-Terrain Concept pushes the boundary by showing that a luxurious drive could also done off the road.

While the exterior of the Lagonda Vision Concept was inspired by the Concorde, the Lagonda All-Terrain Concept, on the other hand, was initially influenced world of the super yacht. Nissan has unveiled at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show a new concept vehicle which design and advance technology provides a glimpse of what customers can expected from Nissan’s next generation of crossovers. Audi has finally taken the veil off its latest electrified creation at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show – the new the Audi Q4 e-tron concept. This new concept car is a compact four-door SUV that basically provides a good look at the German premium carmaker’s fifth batter electric vehicle that would enter the automotive market by the end of 2020.

Wrapped in “Solar Sky” paint finish, the exterior of the new Audi Q4 e-tron concept is only constrained by its compact dimensions pegged at 4.59 meters in length, 1.90 meters in width and 1.61 meters in height, with a wheelbase of 2.77 meters. It is almost impossible not to indentify the Q4 e-tron concept as an Audi, as the prototype is marked by on the front end by Singleframe with the four rings.

Furthermore, it is also fairly easy to distinguish the concept as an electric Audi e-tron as it features upright octagonal frame instead of a traditional radiator grille. Large inlets can be found extending from below the concept’s two matrix LED headlights to the front apron.

It looks like Aston Martin will soon be following up its Valkyrie and Valkyrie AMR Pro offerings with a third hypercar. This comes as Aston Martin presented the design concept for the new AM-RB 003 at the 2019 Geneva Motor Showin Switzerland.

Its terms of styling and aerodynamics, the new AM-RB 003 shares the same fundamental philosophy with the Aston Martin Valkyrie. This is evident on the pronounced front keel and large rear diffuser. In addition, the AM-RB 003 features a variable airfoil that spans across the rear wing. This variable airfoil is made possible by a new technology from FlexSys Inc. – FlexFoil.

With this new system in place, the downforce AM-RB 003 can be changed without changing the physical angle of the entire element. This new system also virtually gets rid of the turbulence and the associated drag increase in present active wing designs.

It has been three years since Toyota’s luxury division, Lexus, unveiled the LC Coupe at the 2016 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), which is also known as the Detroit Auto Show. Now at the same venue, Lexus is presenting to the global public an open -top study of the LC Coupe – the Lexus LC Convertible Concept.

As the luxury carmaker puts it, the Lexus LC Convertible Concept suggests future direction of its LC flagship. The premium carmaker calls the LC Convertible Concept as an aspirational halo vehicle for the entire Lexus lineup. In terms of looks, the LC Convertible Concept is essentially the LC Coupe without a fixed roof. For three years, not a few have imagine how the LC Coupe would appear if it become a convertible. The LC Convertible Concept is the realization of this imagination in metal.

As Tadao Mori, Chief Designer of the Lexus LC Convertible Concept, quipped, the show car re-imagines the unmistakable design of the LC Coupe as a future convertible. He added that the LC Convertible Concept is a blend all the best aspects of the original LC Coupe, but with the dynamic design of a convertible.

According to the German premium carmaker, the production version of the Audi e-tron GT concept is set to arrive in around two years. This means that could expect the third member of the e-tron family by late 2020, with initial deliveries set in early 2021. It follows the Audi e-tron SUV as well as the Audi e‑tron Sportback scheduled for 2019.

As designed, the Audi e-tron GT concept features the proportions of a classic Gran Turismo – flat and wide with a long wheelbase – as reflected on its dimensions of 4.96 meters (16.3 ft.) in length, 1.96 meters (6.4 ft.) in width and 1.38 meters (4.5 ft.) in height. Carlex Design isn't a beginner with regards to tuning the Mercedes-Benz X-Class. In fact, it has even created a version with Maybach-like appearance and features. It has also created Off-Road-focused and Urban-tailored versions. Now, Carlex Design seems to be not contented with how far it has gone with the X-Class and is now presenting a new concept design for the luxury SUV from Mercedes.

Indeed, the Mercedes-Benz X-Class represents the luxury side of pickup trucks. While offering a drive that is comparable to a sports utility vehicle, the X-Class also delivers a smooth, comfortable ride that is expected of luxurious vehicles. Furthermore, it is laden with features usually found in premium cars. But at Carlex Design, the X-Class can be turned into luxurious 6x6 beast off the road. This can be well seen on the new X-Class Exy 6x6 Concept by Carlex Design.

The X-Class Exy 6x6 Concept is essentially the X-Class evolved into a whole new luxurious beast. It is much different from Carlex Design’s previous re-imaginations of Mercedes’ luxury pickup. The concept pickup has six wheels – two wheels more than a standard X-Class and previous Carlex Design X-Class creations. This also meant an extra axle on the rear section of this X-Class 6x6. The addition of two wheels naturally resulted to an extended bed, allowing this conversion of the X-Class to load and carry a greater volume of cargo.

Imagining the future of automotive luxury more than three decades from now seems to be a daunting task. It would be hard for a typical person imagine such future without having the sense of vision and an eye for design. But for students at the Royal College of Arts in London, imagining how automotive luxury would look like in the future is their true calling.

In a dynamic collaboration, Bentley and Royal College of Arts (RCA) sought how the automotive luxury could be defined in 2050, or more than 30 years from now. The collaboration asked student at the world renowned RCA to imagine a truly luxurious Grand Touring experience for the future, by employing elements of physical materiality, technology and craftsmanship – all of which refuse to die even this era of virtual and digital world.

Interestingly, the current Design Director at Bentley was a graduate at the RCA. Stefan Sielaff, an alumnus of the RCA’s renowned Automotive Design program, remarked that the collaboration challenged millennial students for their vision of the automotive future, as laden with luxury.

Just last month, Porsche unveiled the new 935 during the “Rennsport Reunion” motorsport event at Laguna Seca Raceway in California. Featuring a body evoking the legendary Porsche 935/78, the 935 is definitely a race car you would want to drive in the track. Nonetheless, it isn't car you can just drive on the road from your garage to the track. After all, the 935 is a track-only race car and can’t be driven legally on the road.

The problem of getting a track-only race car from a garage to the circuit without circumventing any laws or local ordinances has already been solved a long time ago. To solve such a logistic issue, teams or carmakers have been using transporters, which can be large enough to accommodate more than one race car.

Such a situation is the main theme of one of the latest creative visual projects of Igor Shikitov, an automotive designer from Moscow, Russia. Posted at the Behance social creative site on October 3, 2018, Shikitov’s work was aptly titled “Volkswagen Renntransporter.” After all Porsche is now part of the Volkswagen Group.
