Volvo revealed a performance upgrade for the 2012 S60 R-Design and 2012 XC60 R-Design at the New York auto show. This is considered a new addition since traditionally, Volvo’s R-Design packages have only included modified looks and chassis tuning.
Powering these two R-Design models is Volvo’s T6 engine, a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six, which was upgraded to deliver 325hp and 354 pound-feet of torque. In all other configurations, the T6 is rated at 300hp and 325 pound-feet.
This serves as an upgrade engine in the S60 sedan and XC60 crossover and in other Volvo products as well. The R-Design may be intended to be sporty but the T6 in both the S60 R-Design and XC60 R-Design models feature only a six-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.Read the entire article 2012 Volvo S60 R-Design, 2012 XC60 R-Design get some power boost

Besides the striking red colour, the new cars also offer new body kits consisting of a new front bumper, aluminum covers for the side mirrors, a new rear roof spoiler (available only for the V60 version) and a new rear bumper air diffuser and integrated exhaust system.

At the rear, the S60 and V60 R-Design are now fitted with monotube dampers. Unlike the the twin-tube dampers previously used, these monotube damper features compression and return damping via the same valve.Read the entire article 2011 Volvo S60 and V60 R-Design: details, specs and photos
Volvo has announced that there will be a 2011 C30 and that it will be available in the US exclusively in T5 trim for $24,600 ( an extra $850 for destination and delivery charges). Volvo showcased the C30 T5 in Frankfurt and what impressed the audience most about it was its neo-brake.
The C30's fascia was revised and its bumpers were remodeled to bring the C30 in line with the future of Volvo design.
It can´t be denied that the C30 is alluring and what makes it even more attractive is its reasonable pricing, especially if you consider that it has the power to generate 227 horsepower due to its inline-five engine hooked to a six-speed manual.Read the entire article 2011 Volvo C30 T5 and C30 T5 R-Design pricing announced
Mediocrity and green doesn´t have to be together always. But with R-Design, the Volvo C30, S40 and V50 DRIVe can be styled just as dramatically and completely like other model versions.
This is in response to significant demand for vehicles that merge good eco features with thrilling design elements. The continuous optimization of the drivelines of the cars has made this development possible.
All the models satisfactorily pass the 120g CO2/km limit (which is 119g for all three models) even without the preceding external revisions intended to lower air drag, including unique body and underbody panels and air spoilers.Read the entire article Volvo C30, S40 and V50 DRIVe receive some R-Design ‘attention’
To give the Volvo XC60 a bolder appearance is the new R-Design option pack to be presented at the Frankfurt Motor show 2009. The Volvo XC60, which has a solid market share in the premium sport crossover segment, simply attracts attention wherever it goes but wait until you add these R-Design attributes.
Up for grabs are door mirror housings, twin chrome tailpipes, trim mouldings, décor trim in matte silk metal finish, and skid-plates. Wouldn’t you want to get a hold of these five-spoke Cratus aluminum wheels?
Unique for the R-Design models, these wheels are available in the standard 18 inches size or you can opt for the 20-inch wheels. This wider dimension is new to this car model and is only available with the R-Design option pack. An exciting new feature is color-matching the lower section of the car to the rest of the body, instead of the standard matte black execution.Read the entire article Volvo XC60 R-Design breaks cover
With Volvo’s introduction of the £500 R-Design interior pack on the S80 executive saloon, it is testing customers’ reaction before it announces a full-blown, standalone version. The R-Design traditionally includes tweaked suspension, body styling and a sports interior. Volvo has given the R-Design treatment to the other models in the range but it has not done so for the S80.
If there is enough interest in a sports-themed S80, Volvo will create a bodykit, with downforce-inducing rear spoiler, a deeper, more aggressive front bumper, and possibly sculpted side sills.
The S80 range has recently been treated to a “lowered dynamic’ chassis which would negate the need for an R-Design suspension.Read the entire article Volvo considers R-Design pack for the S80 sedan
