The British car manufacturer first unveiled their grand tourer, the Aston Martin DB9, during the 2003 Frankfurt Auto Show. The vehicle was actually made available both as a coupe and as Aston Martin DB9 Volante (which was a convertible). DB9 was the successor of the Aston Martin DB7 and was the very first model that was built in the British manufacturer’s Gaydon facility.
Aston Martin DB9 was designed by Henrik Fisker and is mainly made of aluminium except for the front bumpers and bonnet (which were composite). It was based on the DB7 with a more contemporary approach to the classic DB design elements and characteristics. The DB9 has a traditional Aston Martin grille and side strakes for simple and refined lines. The front portion of the car has no visible bumpers and does not have a separate nose cone. It is powered by a 6.0L V12 engine that can produce a maximum power of 444 horsepower. It has a top speed of 186 mph and can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in a matter of 4.7 seconds.

At Aston Martin, there is the Valkyrie. In the near future, there might also be a Valhalla. Another name that starts with letter “V,” the Valhalla has just been reserved as a name that Aston Martin for a possible new car, after the British carmaker filed a trademark application for the name.
Aston Martin filed the trademark application with the World Intellectual Property organization. According to the application, the named “Valhalla” will be used on “passenger cars and racing cars and parts and fittings therefor,” among other types of vehicles. It was Autoguide that first discovered the trademark application, which was filed by Aston Martin on Oct. 12, 2018.
The use of names derived from Norse mythology is nothing new to Aston Martin. The AM-RB 001 hypercar – a joint project of Aston Martin and Red Bull Advanced Technologies – was a codename used before the carmaker eventually baptized the new hypercar as the Aston Martin Valkyrie. The upcoming Aston Martin Valkyrie is definitely one of the new cars that the automotive world is waiting for. With a total output of whooping 1,130 hp from its immensely dynamic powertrain, the Valkyrie is touted as a hypercar from the gods, and Aston Martin is making a case of it by posting official images of this new creation on Instagram.
Aston Martin released not just one but three official images of the Valkyrie on Instagram. One of these images show the Valkyrie as viewed from top, while another presents the hypercar from the side. Aston Martin was also kind enough to offer a glimpse of the interior of the Valkyrie. The British carmaker said the cabin of the new Valkyrie is minimalistic.
As the image show, the interior of the hypercar is dipped in carbon fiber. This Q by Aston Martin creation was commissioned by Aston Martin Cambridge, and only 24 units will be built with thorough reference with the Aston Martin DBR1 race car that clutched the 1959 victory. The British carmaker is introducing the new Aston Martin DBS 59.
As it moniker says, this special edition Aston DBS Superleggera pays tribute to the 1959 win by adding the figure “59” as a suffix. Fielded by David Brown Racing, Aston Martin DBR1 #5 (piloted by Roy Salvadori and Carroll Shelby) and #6 (driven by Maurice Trintignant and Paul Frere racers secured the first and second place finishes, respectively, at the 1959 Le Mans.
But the references don’t end there. The commissioned work is only for 24 examples, each unit of the DBS 59 represents every hour of the 24-hour Le Mans race where the DBR1 grabbed unmatched wins. Aston Martin’s newest DB11 AMR, which sits at the top of the grand tourer range, is a marriage between high-speed capability with luxurious surrounds. It is equipped with a 5.2 liter V12 that packs an impressive 630 horsepower, which is a 30 horsepower boost over the standard DB11 V12 that the AMR replaces. Still, torque remains at 516 pound feet (700 Newton metres).
With that additional horsepower, the grand tourer can hit 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) in 3.7 seconds. That makes it 0.2 second quicker than before, while its top speed is up to 208 miles per hour (335 kilometers per hour), now 8 miles per hour (13 kilometers per hour) faster than the regular DB11 V12. The AMR also features an exhaust that’s a bit louder than before, which is pretty obvious.
Of course, the company boasts that the DB11 AMR is more engaging to drive too. Lagonda, Aston Martin’s first ever luxury sub-brand, has officially revealed its very first car that is slated to arrive in 2021. First of all, it will be an all-electric SUV.
As of now, there are no concrete details about the car just yet. However, what we know is that it will feature styling that’s an evolution of the Vision Concept that was shown at the Geneva motor show in March.
The Vision Concept was revealed to give us a preview of the Lagonda brand. For years, they have shown concept cars but these have not had a proper production run since 1989 when the Lagonda sedan was canned. There is a lot going on within Aston Martin. Its CEO, Andy Palmer, has a full plate, to say the least. Despite that, he recently just announced that they are planning to deliver a high performance electric vehicle that could go up against the next generation Tesla Roadster.
Palmer also says that it is possible for them to develop an electric vehicle that is smaller and faster than the Vantage, when Auto Express asked about that matter. Furthermore, when asked about challenges involved in making electric vehicles, such as the battery, Palmer responds by saying that Aston Martin is an expert when it comes to making electric vehicles, and the main factors that they need to take account of include elements like “weight, aerodynamic drag, and rolling resistance”.
He then added that developing electric vehicles will put them at an advantage over other brands like Tesla that promises a lightweight roadster. With 1,130 horsepower at its disposal thanks to a 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine with a KERS-style electric drivetrain, the new Aston Martin Valkyrie is a highly potent machine on the road and even on the track. It will even be offered as the track-exclusive Aston Martin AMR Pro race car. A stint at the world’s oldest sports car endurance race – the 24 Hours or Le Mans – could be possible in the future for a racing version of the Valkyrie, according to Aston Martin chief executive Andy Palmer in an interview with Autocar magazine.
Racing at the Le Mans today would seem weird for a track-only version of the Aston Martin Valkyrie. The track-exclusive AMR Pro version of the Valkyrie has been tweaked – boasting more power and more aerodynamic devices – to deliver a kind of performance near to Formula One racers or Le Mans Prototype units. However, it cannot compete in the top class of the Le Mans – the LMP1 – as restricted by the current rules and regulations set by the motor racing’s governing body, the FIA.
Currently, FIA rules for the Le Mans – in particular the LMP1 category – only allow prototype racers to enter the event. The focus of the Le Mans or any other endurance race is on prototype racers, not relying on just speed, but also reliability and efficiency. This is why hybrid systems have recently become the overall winners of Le Mans’ top category. Since only prototype racers are allowed in the top class, there is no way for a race version of the Aston Martin Valkyrie to participate. Have you ever thought about whether Aston Martin would come out with a convertible version of its new 2018 Vantage? At this juncture, no one really knows what the future holds for this model. It was just the other day when the automaker released the coupe, and already, we have a rendering of it here. And one thing we would say is that the rendered roadster looks just like the coupe, which is a great thing. Aksyonov did not give it a fixed roof, but instead, it will be getting a hard rear deck with a cowled tonneau cover, similar to that of the outgoing Vantage Roadster.
So far, Aston Martin has not mentioned anything about the convertible, when it comes to its release date. However, it took the automaker quite some time (around a year and a half) to follow the new DB11 coupe with the DB11 Volante convertible. It was Nikita Aksyonov who was the person behind the beautiful rendering of the 2018 Aston Martin Vantage as a more practical Shooting Brake, and we think that it is a genius idea.
Wouldn’t this baby Aston Martin be a better choice or at least be an alternative to the larger Ferrari GTC4Lusso, as it will more likely be cheaper as well. If you see the Aston Martin’s 2018 Vantage, you would think that it is significantly different from most of Aston’s GT lineup. For instance, if the DB11 is a fine gentleman, the Vantage is the hunter - that is how Miles Nurnberger, chief exterior designer describes it. Furthermore, it takes some of its design elements from James Bond’s DB10 in Spectre, wherein the automaker only built 10 cars for the movie.
Though it continues to have the Vantage’s basic proportions of a front-engine coupe with a low-arching roofline, it still looks a bit more aggressive than its predecessor. This could be because of the sloped shark nose and the more open front grille.
Moving onto the vehicle’s rear end, you would notice that it has been made with aerodynamic elements that had been seamlessly put into the structural design of the Vantage. It also has a complex rear diffuser that controls turbulence off the tires. Aston Martin has just unveiled the next generation of its Vantage sports car. Incredibly, it didn’t take long for the carmaker’s official motorsports arm Aston Martin Racing to introduce the racing GTE version of the sports car – the new 2018 Aston Martin Vantage GTE.
The British carmaker unveiled the next-gen Aston Martin Vantage in the morning of November 21, 2017. That night, in a well-synchronized launch, Aston Martin Racing took the wraps off the GTE racing derivative. This was well-expected as after all, the Vantage GTE was developed in parallel with the Vantage road. Automakers sometimes want to have fun and experiment on building other toys too, such as bikes. And now is not the first time you’ve heard of this, and it definitely won’t be the last too. Aston Martin has recently launched a limited edition bicycle of its own.
This was made possible by their partnership with German bicycle manufacturer Storck. Together, the British automaker and the German firm came up with a bike they call the Fascenario.3. Of course, expect this bike to be a limited edition model, with only 107 examples worldwide. And the automaker boasts that the bike is a perfect combination of “aerodynamics, stiffness, and comfort”.
The bicycle is mostly made out of a lightweight “Nanocarbon Technology”, which only weighs a total of 1.7 pounds (770 grams) - that’s just the frame though. But overall, with the other components including the brakes, wheels, tires, gearing, and the rest of the parts needed to complete a bike, it only weighs 13 pounds (5.9 kilograms). Aston Martin has finally released some new images of its Vanquish Zagato Shooting Brake. We have to say that it’s one fine vehicle and it’s difficult to tear our eyes away from it. Why you ask? Well, the two-door wagon with double bubble roof is perhaps the most impressive derivative from the entire Vanquish- Zagato collection which consists of the Vanquish Zagato Speedster, the Vanquish Zagato Volante and the Vanquish Zagato Coupe.
The foursome in fact will only be limited to a total of 325 examples, leaving the Shooting Brake as the most practical choice among all of them. With only 99 examples slated for production, the limited-edition Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Shooting Brake will surely be a rare sight to behold. However, it won’t be as uncommon as the Speedster with only 28 units. That leaves the Coupe and Volante models with 99 examples each.
Like the rest of its siblings, the Shooting Brake will be based on the Vanquish S that packs a 580hp naturally aspirated V12 powertrain, a fine-tuned adaptive suspension and a host of carbonfiber components for the body panels. In order to maintain its famous shape with elongated roofline that flows seamlessly down to the windshield, the grand tourer is only a two-seater, two-door variant. Nevertheless, the Shooting Brake comes equipped with an electrically operated tailgate with spacious rear compartment with even a luggage set to match.
