Audi R8 V10 RWS is coming to the US at starting price of $139,950

Audi opened the order books for the Audi R8 V10 RWS ((Rear Wheel Series) in fall 2017 in Europe, with the model already arriving in dealership earlier this year. At the time it was unveiled, it was still unsure whether Audi is bring the new R8 V10 RWS to the United States. Now, the premium carmaker is indeed bringing the R8 V10 RWS, at a hefty starting price of $139,950 each, Motor Trend says citing its own source.

At this pricing, the Audi R8 V10 RWS – the carmaker’s first-ever production and street-legal rear-wheel-drive R8 model – is around $26,000 cheaper than the Quattro model. However, those who are interested in acquiring this edition of the R8 should remain always alert as to when it would arrive in the US, because only 320 examples are allocated for this market. While Audi didn’t give an official date for the arrival of the R8 V10 RWS in the US, it is expected that this would occur in the last quarter of the year.

The German carmaker only needed to get rid of the Quattro all-wheel-drive system to pave way to the RWD layout, thereby giving birth to the R8 V10 RWS. However, its powerful naturally aspirated V10 remains the same. The removal of the Quattro allowed the R8 V10 RWS to trim its weight by as much as 50 kg (110 pounds) for the Coupe model, and around 40 kg (88 lbs.) for the Spyder variant.

The rear-wheel drive 2018 Audi R8 V10 RWS is finally here, with less weight too

Finally, Audi Sport takes the cover off the R8 V10 RWS at the dawn of 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. The long awaited rear-wheel drive R8 is here, and as the newest addition to the supercar's range, the automaker decided to only produce 999 units of the Coupe and the Spyder trims.

For the R8 V10 RWS, Audi had to get rid of the Quattro system to give way to the RWD layout, though the naturally aspirated V10 remains intact. Now, without the Quattro, the R8 loses as much as 50 kilograms (110 pounds) for the fixed roof model, while the droptop only loses 40 kilos (88 pounds). The 5.2 FSI V10 engine is mounted on the middle, where it produces the same 540 horsepower (397 kilowatts) and 540 Newton-metres (398 pound-feet) of torque as the all-wheel drive version of the R8. This is why the RWD version lacks the rear wing of the more powerful Plus model. The R8 is better known for an extreme track day more than just cruising around Beverly Hills.

In terms of performance, the Coupe version can accelerate from a standstill to 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) in only 3.7 seconds - that makes it two tenths of a second faster than the R8 with the Quattro system. The Spyder, on the other hand, can finish the task in 3.8 seconds, considering that it is slightly heavier. It is still 0.2 seconds faster than its AWD sibling. The R8 Coupe version can still go off to a maximum of 198.8 miles per hour (320 kilometers per hour), while the Spyder does it in 197.6 miles per hour (318 kph), same as its Quattro counterpart.

Audi RS4 Avant and RWD R8 GT are expected to debut at 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show

A lot of us are very excited for the upcoming 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show scheduled to take place in a few weeks. We’re all psyched up to see what cars will debut, which concepts we will see, and what surprises will be in store for us. Here is one thing though, reports suggest that Audi may have something very exciting for the IAA. It’s perfectly timed too as this show is organized to happen only once every two years, alternating with the Paris Motor Show.

There have been earlier news which said that Audi will finally be introducing the production version of the RS4 Avant as a replacement for the RS5 Coupe. Both models come with the same biturbocharged 2.9 liter V6 engine, giving out as much as 450 horsepower and 443 pound feet (600 Newton metres) of torque, paired with an eight speed automatic that gives power to the Quattro all-wheel-drive setup - just like the first ever RS5 Sportback.

Since they will be carrying the same engine, expect the RS4 Avant to perform just like its two-door sibling, except it might take a little longer when doing the 0 to 62 mile per hour sprint) 100 kilometers per hour because of its weight. The RS5 Coupe does the sprint in 3.9 seconds, so the RS4 Avant may hit 62 mph in 4 or 4.1 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 155 miles per hour (250 kilometers per hour). This can be pushed even further to a maximum of 174 mph (280 kph) with the dynamic package.

Rumor: Next-generation Audi A8 to get a rear-wheel drive platform

There are speculations coming out about the next-generation Audi A8 model, its flagship sedan. The next Audi A8 is slated to appear in 2016 or 2017. It is rumored to be the first modern-day production Audi sedan to get a rear-wheel drive platform. A source said that the new A8 will drop the outgoing model’s all-aluminum body.

Instead, it will get an “aluminum hybrid” body that is comprised of high-strength steel and other composite materials. Audi is also thinking about using the MSB platform for the A8. Porsche is developing this platform for its next-generation Panamera mode as well as the upcoming Bentley sedans. If these rumors are to be believed, we have Wolfgang Dürheimer to thank.

He is the latest chief of research and development at Audi. He had served as Bentley CEO and as Porsche’s R&D chief. There’s no denying then that Dürheimer is knowledgeable about the MSB platform and rear-wheel drive platforms. Audi has offered all-wheel drive as an option. The new vehicles obviously outnumber the front-wheel drive luxury sedan.

Audi has finally taken the veil off its latest electrified creation at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show – the new the Audi Q4 e-tron concept. This new concept car is a compact four-door SUV that basically provides a good look at the German premium carmaker’s fifth batter electric vehicle that would enter the automotive market by the end of 2020.

Wrapped in “Solar Sky” paint finish, the exterior of the new Audi Q4 e-tron concept is only constrained by its compact dimensions pegged at 4.59 meters in length, 1.90 meters in width and 1.61 meters in height, with a wheelbase of 2.77 meters. It is almost impossible not to indentify the Q4 e-tron concept as an Audi, as the prototype is marked by on the front end by Singleframe with the four rings.

Furthermore, it is also fairly easy to distinguish the concept as an electric Audi e-tron as it features upright octagonal frame instead of a traditional radiator grille. Large inlets can be found extending from below the concept’s two matrix LED headlights to the front apron.

The new Audi TT RS – yes, the top version of the German carmaker’s facelifted TT model series – is now officially here. If you could remember, the range-topping TT RS Coupe and Roadster were visually absent when Audi unveiled the facelifted TT model series in July 2018. That got some worried, so Audi is allaying those worries.

As introduced by the brand with the Four Rings, the latest iteration of the Audi TT RS Coupe and Roadster boasts of completely redrawn front end. However, most of us won't be able to distinguish the newest TT RS models from their predecessors right away. It would take discerning eyes – especially those of Audi TT RS fans and enthusiasts – to know how the latest iterations differ visually from the previous model.

For instance, the lateral air intakes on the front bumper are now larger, each divided by vertical strips. In addition, the quattro logo -- in matt titanium-look – is located in the lower part of the gloss black grille that is surrounded by matt black Singleframe. The grille is flanked by LED headlights as standard, or by optional matrix LED units.

According to the German premium carmaker, the production version of the Audi e-tron GT concept is set to arrive in around two years. This means that could expect the third member of the e-tron family by late 2020, with initial deliveries set in early 2021. It follows the Audi e-tron SUV as well as the Audi e‑tron Sportback scheduled for 2019.

As designed, the Audi e-tron GT concept features the proportions of a classic Gran Turismo – flat and wide with a long wheelbase – as reflected on its dimensions of 4.96 meters (16.3 ft.) in length, 1.96 meters (6.4 ft.) in width and 1.38 meters (4.5 ft.) in height. The up-and-coming Audi E-tron GT four-door sports car is one of the electric cars that the premium carmaker has promised to deliver before 2025. But as early as now, some details have emerged about the new electric offering from Audi, as divulged by two of the company’s top men to Autocar.

First up is the expected distance that the Audi E-tron GT can travel in a single charge using just electricity. As reported by Autocar, Siegfried Pint, who serves as Technical Director Powertrain Integration at Audi, remarked that the new E-tron GT will have an electric range similar to the E-tron electric SUV. Since the E-tron SUV offers a range of 248 miles (400 km) as per WLTP (Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure). Nonetheless, he noted that this range would be achieve without hindering potential of the E-tron GT four-door sports car, as this new EV would be “focused more towards power.”

Providing the power for the new Audi E-tron SUV is a 95-kWh lithium-ion battery that brings into life its two electric motors (dual asynchronous motors), with a motor placed on each axle for an all-wheel drive performance. The electric powertrain of the E-tron SUV delivers up to 265 kW (355 hp) of output and up to 413 lb-ft. of torque. But when the “boost mode” is activated, the electric motors will also deliver more power to the wheels, to up to 300 kW (402 hp) of output and up to 490 lb-ft. of torque. In this boost mode, the E-tron SUV can sprint from zero to 60 mph in just 5.5 seconds.

SEAT SA is commencing production of an all-new car at its Martorell facilities in Spain. However, its plant won't be assembling a new SEAT car. The Spanish carmaker is now assembling the next generation of Audi’s small city car – the new 2019 Audi A1.

The sight of SEAT producing Audi vehicles isn't surprising as both carmakers are members of the larger Volkswagen Group. In addition, the A1 isn't the Audi vehicle produced at SEAT’s Martorrel site. In the middle of 2011, the VW Group assigned the SEAT facility to produce the Audi Q3 luxury subcompact crossover. Since then until July 2018, the Martorrel site had been producing the previous generation of the Audi Q3 and total Spanish production of the subcompact crossover reached nearly 800,000 units.

When the second generation of the Audi Q3 was unveiled, it was decided that the production of the subcompact crossover will be moved from Martorell to the Gyor facilities in Hungary. On the other hand, the previous generation of the A1 was assembled in Brussels. The idle manufacturing capacity at Martorrel left by the Audi Q3 might have prompted the VW Group to transfer the production of the second generation from Brussels to Martorell.

Not a few got excited when German premium carmaker Audi joined the luxury coupe-SUV segment with the all-new Audi Q8. This new SUV offers customers both the versatility of an SUV and the elegance of a five-door coupe. It offers considerable performance, with more powerful versions slated to arrive soon.

However, for those who can’t wait for the upcoming high-performance versions of the Audi Q8 – the carmaker is still working on them – German tuner ABT is offering to boost the power level of the diesel-powered coupe-SUV. Yes, while there is an increasing hatred against diesel models, it really doesn’t mean this mill is going to die soon, not when such engine is installed under the hood of Audi’s flagship SUV.

ABT is counting on the fact that there are still customers in Europe who believe in diesel power. Such customers are what pushing ABT to further make the diesel variant of the Audi Q8 more powerful. The Q8 – in its Q8 50 TDI version -- is powered by a 3.0-liter V6 TDI engine that delivers 282 hp (213 kW) of max output and 442 lb.-ft. (600 Nm) of peak torque. This V6 TDI mill is complemented by an eight-speed tiptronic automatic transmission and Audi’s Quattro AWD system. This version of the Audi Q8 can sprint from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 6.2 seconds, and achieve a top speed of 152 mph (245 km/h).

Following the global debut of the new Audi R8 LMS GT3 at the 2018 Paris Motor Show, the German premium carmaker is introducing the new Audi R8. The refreshed version of the Audi R8 boasts of a sharper look and better performance made possible by more powerful V10 engines and a modified suspension system.

As part of the upgrade of the new Audi R8, the premium carmaker is implementing a change in designation. From now on, the Audi R8 Coupé V10 and R8 Spyder V10 will be known as the Audi R8 Coupé V10 quattro and R8 Spyder V10 quattro. On the other hand, the Audi R8 Coupé and R8 Spyder V10 plus will be designated as Audi R8 Coupé performance Quattro and R8 Spyder V10 performance quattro. Audi plans to commence sales of the new R8 in the first quarter of 2019 in Germany and other markets in Europe.

Under the hood of the Audi R8 V10 quattro is a V10 naturally aspirated engine that has powered up by 22 kW (30 hp) and 10 Nm (7.4 lb.-ft.) to 419 kW (570 hp) of max output and 550 Nm (405.7 lb.-ft.) of peak torque. This allows the Audi R8 Coupe V10 quattro to sprint from zero to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in just 3.4 seconds and the R8 Coupe V10 quattro in 3.5 seconds. Top speeds are 324km/h (201.3 mph) for the Coupe and 322 km/h (200.1 mph) for the Spyder.

In just four years, Audi Sport customer racing is already unveiling its fourth race car at the 2018 Paris Motor Show. Introducing the new Audi R8 LMS GT3, the newest evolution of the carmaker’s second-generation Audi R8 LMS.

Most of Audi’s sporty fans are already looking forward to the unveiling of the new R8 at the upcoming 2018 Paris Motor Show this month. As it turns out, Audi has another surprising prepared for its sports-oriented customers – the all-new Audi SQ2 high-performance compact SUV.

It is about time that the Audi Q2 join the premium brand’s S-Series. But to distinguish the SQ2 from a standard Q2, the S-Series model features a large, octagonal Singleframe grille with eight upright double bars while the outermost edges of the two air inlets are joined by a full-width front splitter. As standard, the SQ2 features LED headlights and LED rear lights with dynamic indicators.

Other distinguishing details for the new Audi SQ2 include a long roof edge spoiler, a diffuser insert with four exhaust tailpipes, contoured trim strips in the lower section of the doors as well as aluminum-look exterior mirror housings. Around 10 wheel designs and sizes are available for the new SQ2 like the standard 18-inch alloy wheels with size 235/45 tires or the optional 19-inch wheels with 235/40 tires. Audi has unveiled an all-electric concept car at the Pebble Beach Automotive Week in Monterey, California that visualizes a radical electrically powered driving machine for both the road and the race track. The all-electric Audi PB18 e-tron Concept is essentially a design and technical study of a futuristic high-performance sports car.

Basically, the PB18 e-tron boasts of a technical concept built from Audi's years of victories at the Le Mans, as implemented through the carmaker’s high-performance arm -- Audi Sport GmbH. The “PB18” in its name refers to the place and year (Pebble Beach and 2018) it was unveiled, while the “e-tron” signifies the fact that the concept shares the technological DNA with the Audi R18 e-tron, the carmaker’s high successful LMP1 racing car.

In terms of dimensions, the PB18 e-tron is similar to a classical sports car – it measures 4.53 meters (14.5 ft.) in length, 2 meters (6.4 ft.) in width and 1.15 meters (4.6 ft) in height, with wheelbase of 2.70 meters (8.9 ft) and short overhangs.

The Audi R8 isn't your ordinary car. Bred with motorsport DNA, the R8 is a supercar that promises to fulfill the performance cravings of many. Now, Audi is introducing the most capable and most focused Audi R8 model to date – the Audi Sport Performance Parts R8.

This special edition is essentially an Audi R8 V10 plus Coupe draped with the full Audi Sport Performance Parts package. Through the new Audi Sport Performance Parts R8, the German premium carmaker wants to prove that performance isn’t just a function of power, but is also achieved through aerodynamic enhancements and lower weight.

As for power, the new Audi Sport Performance Parts R8 features the same engine as the Audi R8 V10 plus Coupe – a naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V-10 engine that delivers 610 PS (602 hp) of max output and 413 lb.-ft. of peak torque available at 6,500 rpm. While having the same power at hand with the R8 V10 plus Coupe, the new Audi Sport Performance Parts R8 offers greater performance by increasing the amount of generated downforce and by chopping off some weight from the already light base car.

Right now, Audi is in the earliest stages when it comes to developing a fully electric supercar. But as this technology is still a few years away before they can be used, Audi sees this as one of the obstacles.

Peter Oberndorfer, Audi’s boss of product and technology communications, told Motoring that at this moment, they really consider everything, but they think that battery development is vital.

Oberndorfer believes that future solid state batteries will be necessary to achieve the perfect combination of performance and range. Peter Mertens, the development boss, confirms that solid state batteries will not be available anytime soon. He also told Motoring that the advantage of these batteries would be that they’re much lighter and need less space.

A decade ago, BMW invented the luxury coupe-SUV segment with the X6. And it is only this year that Audi decided to join them with the first ever Q8 SUV. This model is new to the Q family of high riding vehicles, giving customers both versatility of an SUV, and elegance of a five door coupe.

The size of the Q8 is pretty much like the Q7’s dimensions. But because of its sloping roofline design, it looks like it sits closer to the ground. Its wheelbase measures almost three meters (118 inches), a huge cabin, for which Audi says is superior compared to their competitors within its segment, namely the BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe.

Moving on to the Q8’s capacity, it has a larger boot that can hold up to 605 liters (21.3 cubic feet) of your bags when the rear seats are in place, and can be expanded to 1,755 liters (61.9 cubic feet) when folded. To make it easier for us to explain, the boot can fit two golf bags in a transverse direction. As standard, the tailgate is electrically operated, but it can also be had with an electric parcel shelf.

Audi A6 (C8) is still quite fresh in the market but already, artists have been rendering the said model, with variants of their own. Recently, we saw a hot RS6 makeover of the sporty saloon, but now, artist Tobias Buttner gives us his take on the German luxury saloon, giving it a more rugged theme. As you could see in the photos, this is a rendering of the A6 Allroad model. Like all the Allroad models, it adopts new body cladding and a higher ride height, both in an effort to enhance off road practicality.

The standard styling cues of the standard A6 are carried over, of course, but there are also a number of unique variations to note. For instance, the grille, while still large and imposing, features vertical chrome inserts as opposed to the horizontal design found of the standard model. The accenting vents have been made more subtle, and there is a silver running board located just below the grille.

Expect the ride height to be a little higher, and there’s plastic body cladding around the wheels that assures that it will be able to take on tougher roads, without leaving the paint of the fenders scratched. The previous model is just a bit taller, with its height raised by just 3.5 centimeters (35 mm) over the standard sedan, with an available one extra centimetre (10 mm) of lift available at low speeds. Expect similar figures for the new model; that is, if Audi chooses to build it.

To make the annual Worthersee Meet more interesting, Audi decided that that they should electrify the event. And that’s why they brought in a prototype Audi E-tron Quattro towing the E-Tron Vision Gran Turismo Concept. It’s interesting to see two models that represent the company’s future at an event that largely celebrates an iconic model from VW Group’s history.

Firstly, the E-Tron Quattro will be Audi’s first dedicated electric vehicle, which is scheduled to be sold in Europe by the end of the year. In fact, the automaker has already been testing the 250-member fleet of the said model around the world as a means to build buzz and to work out the final details.

Right now, the electric crossover is equipped with a 95 kilowatt hour battery pack that enables the car to drive as far as 248.5 miles (400 kilometers) in the new WLTP driving cycle. As for the powertrain, specs aren’t as clear but the electric motors allegedly produce a total of 435 horsepower (320 kilowatts) or 503 horsepower (379 kilowatts) when there is a temporary power boost.
