Audi opened the order books for the Audi R8 V10 RWS ((Rear Wheel Series) in fall 2017 in Europe, with the model already arriving in dealership earlier this year. At the time it was unveiled, it was still unsure whether Audi is bring the new R8 V10 RWS to the United States. Now, the premium carmaker is indeed bringing the R8 V10 RWS, at a hefty starting price of $139,950 each, Motor Trend says citing its own source.
At this pricing, the Audi R8 V10 RWS – the carmaker’s first-ever production and street-legal rear-wheel-drive R8 model – is around $26,000 cheaper than the Quattro model. However, those who are interested in acquiring this edition of the R8 should remain always alert as to when it would arrive in the US, because only 320 examples are allocated for this market. While Audi didn’t give an official date for the arrival of the R8 V10 RWS in the US, it is expected that this would occur in the last quarter of the year.
The German carmaker only needed to get rid of the Quattro all-wheel-drive system to pave way to the RWD layout, thereby giving birth to the R8 V10 RWS. However, its powerful naturally aspirated V10 remains the same. Say hello to the new 2017 Lamborghini Huracan LP 580-2 Spyder, which is essentially a Huracan LP 580-2 sans the hard top, sharing quite a number of elements including a 5.2-liter V10 naturally aspirated engine. It features newly designed front and rear ends as well as a new unique profile that allows the LP 580-2 Spyder to stand out from its coupe sibling. Last weekend at the 2014 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, Lamborghini unveiled the Huracan LP620-2 Super Trofeo but company’s CEO Stephan Winkelmann also revealed something about manufacturer’s future plans. According to Winkelmann, the Huracan LP610-4 Spyder will make its debut next year but what he also confirmed is a rear-wheel-drive version of the Huracan.
As you may know already, the Gallardo had the LP550-2 Balboni edition, a rear-wheel-drive version using a manual transmission dedicated to Valentino Balboni, its former chief test driver who retired in October 2008 after 40 years spent at Lamborghini.

But in the short time, Ares Design has demonstrated its capability of creating high-quality coach-built cars. Now, it is out to prove that once again, it can convert almost any vehicle into a bespoke creation through the new Project Wami.
Project Wami is Ares Design’s latest work, with the promise of becoming one of the most enticing roadsters ever made. However, there is yet no actual, final product at sight – the roadster has yet to exist. According to Ares Design, project is currently in its development stage. Nonetheless, based from the images released by the Italian tuning company, the Project Wami roadster looks gorgeous and holds a lot of promise.

Following the global debut of the new Audi R8 LMS GT3 at the 2018 Paris Motor Show, the German premium carmaker is introducing the new Audi R8. The refreshed version of the Audi R8 boasts of a sharper look and better performance made possible by more powerful V10 engines and a modified suspension system.
As part of the upgrade of the new Audi R8, the premium carmaker is implementing a change in designation. From now on, the Audi R8 Coupé V10 and R8 Spyder V10 will be known as the Audi R8 Coupé V10 quattro and R8 Spyder V10 quattro. On the other hand, the Audi R8 Coupé and R8 Spyder V10 plus will be designated as Audi R8 Coupé performance Quattro and R8 Spyder V10 performance quattro. Audi plans to commence sales of the new R8 in the first quarter of 2019 in Germany and other markets in Europe.
Under the hood of the Audi R8 V10 quattro is a V10 naturally aspirated engine that has powered up by 22 kW (30 hp) and 10 Nm (7.4 lb.-ft.) to 419 kW (570 hp) of max output and 550 Nm (405.7 lb.-ft.) of peak torque. This allows the Audi R8 Coupe V10 quattro to sprint from zero to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in just 3.4 seconds and the R8 Coupe V10 quattro in 3.5 seconds. Exactly one year ago on March 6th, Lamborghini decided to finally reveal the Huracan Performance at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. This year, the automaker decided to get rid of the coupe’s roof for the same event that is held yearly in Switzerland. The Spyder pretty much has everything you would want in the fixed roof model, but only this model can pull off this type of body style, with the open top.
Even with the company’s same Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva (ALA), the soft top Spyder has not been hampered in any way. The reason for the ALA is for it to create the sleekest body possible and consequently boost performance. The droptop Huracan also borrowed the coupe’s revised four-wheel drive system, along with an upgraded suspension and the optimized stability control.
Aside from that, Lamborghini’s engineers gave the droptop a lot of forged carbon fiber bits to cut down a total of 35 kilograms (77 pounds) over the standard Huracan Spyder, while also fiddling with its steering. The model now weighs 1,507 kilograms (3,322 pounds) when dry - distributed 43:57 front/rear. The Lamborghini Huracan LP580-2 has been out in the market for about 2 years now, with the last number in the model’s name indicating that the vehicle has a two wheel drive layout, which was implemented in the new Audi R8 V10 RWS. If you are a fan of RWDs and are expecting to see a larger Aventador with that setup, you will be disappointed as the automaker has no plans of developing an RWD version.
During the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, Australia’s Drive magazine interviewed R&D boss of Lamborghini, Maurizio Reggiani. Here, he revealed that the Aventador will remain to be the company’s flagship model and is going to keep its all wheel drive system. You may be wondering why that has been decided. Well, it is because sending as much power from the V12 to the rear axle will allegedly make the vehicle difficult to manage once it hits a certain speed. To be safe, the automaker decided not to let this happen as they will be liable for it.
Furthermore, they assured that the decision was not only made due to safety reasons, but also because the Lamborghini Aventador is meant to keep its all-four wheel configuration. In the second quarter of 2017, Manfred Fitzgerald, boss of Genesis, denied any plans to build a halo sports car. Instead, he said that what the brand will concentrate on is to provide what majority of its customers want.
But without any notice, it seems like the guys from the premium South Korean automaker have changed their minds sometime last year. In fact, two executives from Hyundai confirmed that a new Genesis nameplate is already in the works. It’s possible that the clamor from the fans of Genesis was so deafening that the brand had no choice but to give in.
It was Luc Donckerwolke, vice president of Hyundai, and Woong-chul Yang, vice chairman or research and development, who confirmed the existence of this project to WheelsMagazine. They hinted that the vehicle will likely have two seats, and will be powered by a hybrid system. As BMW has already revealed, the next generation of the BMW M5 (F90) is a four-wheel drive high-performance sedan with overwhelming power output and torque at its disposal. However, it was recently revealed that the next M5 was initially conceived as a rear-wheel drive sedan.
This was divulged by Dirk Hacker, vice-president of BMW’s M division, to Autocar. According to Hacker, the first prototype for the BMW M5 (F90) that was built over three years ago was a rear-wheel drive vehicle. He remarked that back then, having a rear-wheel driven M5 was the natural, “historic way to go.” The M5 has been – for the past five generations – a rear-wheel drive high-performance sports sedan.
Nonetheless, BMW M changed its mind. As Hacker disclosed, the M Division realized that they were beyond the limits of longitudinal acceleration. Have you ever thought about how awesome it would be to have a 2018 TVR Griffith Spyder? Well, now it won’t be farfetched. Barely a month after TVR unwrapped the much anticipated Griffith to the public, top-notch restyling service company E. Milano reimagined the classic two seater sports coupe into a more exciting convertible. The revision shows a sleeker exterior design by disregarding the C-pillar and windows from the original model—as you can see from the picture here. Despite the British manufacturer having revealed no plans of coming up with a new Spyder version, for sure, many will find this idea pretty interesting.
TVR, as we know, is an independent British company that makes high end sports car and it was once acclaimed as the third biggest specialized sports car maker in the world. E. Milano on the other hand has been renowned for its tagline---“raising the bar with every car” as the company offers services focusing on custom car body modifications from Italy. According to its website, it is no longer about owning a unique sports car, rather it’s about owning an exotic vehicle that drives and looks differently from all the rest of the exotic cars out there. The 2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS is now the fastest, undefeated king of the ring for having settled a new record at the Green Hell - at least with regards to rear wheel drive road legal cars lately. The objective was to set a new record in Nurburgring-Nordschleife’s 20.6 km (12.8m) course for less than seven minutes and five seconds. Porsche instead proved it can do so much better by beating the record and being faster by 17.7 seconds.
Porsche factory test drivers Lars Kern from Germany and Nick Tandy of Great Britain made the new record on September 20 for beating the previous 6:52.01 minute log. Using two different Porsche 911s, both drivers took off, each making 5 laps all in less than six minutes and fifty seconds. Eventually, German driver Lars Kern made the fastest lap by reaching the finish line with a very impressive 6:47.3 recorded minutes. Kern runs at an average speed of 114.4 miles per hour (184.11 kph).
Kern’s excellent performance aboard the 911 GT2 RS defies the Porsche 918 Spyder by nearly ten seconds. This happened four years after Marc Lieb, also from Porsche, achieved a lap record of six minutes and fifty seven seconds on September 4th, 2013. According to Japanese website Car Sensor, Mazda recently claimed that they might borrow a platform from Toyota, which they will use for the next generation Mazda6, so this can be given a rear-wheel drive option. But to make things even better, the chassis might underpin the production version of the RX-Vision concept as well.
As part of the move up market, the Japanese automaker will give the Mazda6 the rear wheel drive they are planning. But they will also change the design so it features a long nose and shorter front overhang, giving the sedan a more upscale look. As for the engine, the fourth generation Mazda6 will probably share the company’s Skyactiv X spark controlled compression engine, including the mild-hybrid system believed to be of the 48-volt flavour.
What’s very important for Mazda’s plan is to make sure that they continue to have a good relationship with Toyota. Currently, both automakers have entered a collaboration and they are developing a factory in the United States. They have also been sharing some commercial vehicles in Japan. Furthermore, both companies admit that sharing future platforms would be possible. Finally, Audi Sport takes the cover off the R8 V10 RWS at the dawn of 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. The long awaited rear-wheel drive R8 is here, and as the newest addition to the supercar's range, the automaker decided to only produce 999 units of the Coupe and the Spyder trims.
For the R8 V10 RWS, Audi had to get rid of the Quattro system to give way to the RWD layout, though the naturally aspirated V10 remains intact. Now, without the Quattro, the R8 loses as much as 50 kilograms (110 pounds) for the fixed roof model, while the droptop only loses 40 kilos (88 pounds). The 5.2 FSI V10 engine is mounted on the middle, where it produces the same 540 horsepower (397 kilowatts) and 540 Newton-metres (398 pound-feet) of torque as the all-wheel drive version of the R8. This is why the RWD version lacks the rear wing of the more powerful Plus model. The R8 is better known for an extreme track day more than just cruising around Beverly Hills.
In terms of performance, the Coupe version can accelerate from a standstill to 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) in only 3.7 seconds - that makes it two tenths of a second faster than the R8 with the Quattro system. The Spyder, on the other hand, can finish the task in 3.8 seconds, considering that it is slightly heavier. It is still 0.2 seconds faster than its AWD sibling. A lot of us are very excited for the upcoming 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show scheduled to take place in a few weeks. We’re all psyched up to see what cars will debut, which concepts we will see, and what surprises will be in store for us. Here is one thing though, reports suggest that Audi may have something very exciting for the IAA. It’s perfectly timed too as this show is organized to happen only once every two years, alternating with the Paris Motor Show.
There have been earlier news which said that Audi will finally be introducing the production version of the RS4 Avant as a replacement for the RS5 Coupe. Both models come with the same biturbocharged 2.9 liter V6 engine, giving out as much as 450 horsepower and 443 pound feet (600 Newton metres) of torque, paired with an eight speed automatic that gives power to the Quattro all-wheel-drive setup - just like the first ever RS5 Sportback.
Since they will be carrying the same engine, expect the RS4 Avant to perform just like its two-door sibling, except it might take a little longer when doing the 0 to 62 mile per hour sprint) 100 kilometers per hour because of its weight. The RS5 Coupe does the sprint in 3.9 seconds, so the RS4 Avant may hit 62 mph in 4 or 4.1 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 155 miles per hour (250 kilometers per hour). ABT Sportline’s latest project is aimed at the base Audi R8 model, specifically at its 5.2 liter V10 engine that produces 540 horsepower. The aftermarket company’s new power package enables the V10 engine to give out an extra 70 horsepower to its current output. With ABT’s power package, the R8 will be almost as powerful at the Plus trim, but will cost much less.
Though the tuner does not give specific details on how they gave the R8 an additional 70 horsepower apart from “optimizing the motor management”. What we can see is that the ABT Sportline gave the R8 a new set of forged black 19-inch alloy ER-F wheels, which are probably even lighter than the original set. But customers can choose even larger wheels, the 20-inch GR rims as an option.
If the new 610 horsepower engine is good enough for you to handle, you can bring your new R8 home with that. But ABT Sportline is glad to give your R8 more upgrades including a pair of body kits that are named “Street” and “Race”. These body kits come with a range of aero tweaks from the front skirt, the new rear panel and the rear skirt. Novitec is often pushing the boundaries in the field of conversion technology. There’s no questioning why Novitec’s N-Largo widebody and performance kits have become incredibly popular among automotive enthusiasts. There’s always room in the industry for more customization after all.
The tuning experts from Germany recently unveiled their newest addition to the lineup, the Novitec N-Largo Lamborghini Huracan Spyder. In its standard form, the N-largo Lamborghini is basically a Huracan Spyder, but it features a supercharged engine and a body that’s wider by 24 centimeters courtesy of Novitec’s N-Largo widebody kit.
Novitec’s modification package is offered to all units under Huracan Spyder’s model range, adding not just to its width but also providing the vehicle with more efficient aerodynamics. The second-gen Audi R8 V10 Spyder first made its debut at last year's New York Auto Show, where it was offered with a 540hp V10, not the 610hp version found in the R8 V10 Plus coupe. Now, what better way to experience summer driving season than enjoying it with the newly revealed fastest series production convertible ever coming from Audi, the R8 Spyder V10 Plus.
Akin to its fixed metal roof predecessor, the soft-top Spyder Plus is armed with Ingolstadt's most potent series-production engine, a naturally aspirated 5.2 L V10 that produces 610hp (449 kW) and 413 lb-ft (560 Newton-meters) of torque. Made possible due to a boost in power compared to the non-Plus model, the German marque's range topping convertible can zoom from 0-62 mph (0-100 kph), needing only 3.3 seconds, thus it is three tenths of a second faster compared to the non-Plus model. The Spyder R8 Convertible's top speed increased by 6 mph (10 kph) to a superb 204 mph (328 kph).
The upgraded performance not only was made possible by its improved engine, but also due to decreased weight as Audi decided to cut back 55 lbs (25 kg) off the convertible compared to its "lesser" model, producing a dry weight of around 3,498 lbs (1,587 kg). Built at Audi's Bollinger Hofe factory, the super cars are largely handmade so customization choices are likely limitless. BMW has yet to officially take the wraps off the next generation of the BMW M5 high performance sporty sedan, but it has already dropped a number of juicy details that would surely make interested customers, fans and enthusiasts salivate.
First and foremost, the sixth generation of the BMW M5 will be the first BMW unit to feature the M xDrive system, a groundbreaking all-wheel drive technology that allows four-wheel drive vehicles to be as sporty as their rear-wheel drive counterparts.
Specifically, the new BMW M5 is an all-wheel drive sporty sedan as a default, but its drivetrain features a rear-biased setup. This means that the twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 engine of the next generation BMW M5 (F90) sends power – through an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission – to the rear wheels most of the time. But when the system detects that the rear wheels transmit less or no power to the road and there is a need for more traction, the M xDrive would make it possible to send power to the front wheels as well. This transforms the new BMW M5 into a true all-wheel drive sports sedan. Just after publishing his rendering of the facelifted Porsche 918 Spyder, Aksyonov Nikita is back at it with the open-top Huracan Performante Spyder he posted on Behance. In the rendering, the car was illustrated without a roof, but even with its cloth top, it will definitely look as gorgeous. Since the roadster has sleek lines, the design naturally blends in with the convertible layout effortlessly.
Though photos and videos of Lamborghini’s Huracan Performante have been taken while it was out on the Nurburging being tested, the prototype is still wrapped in its camouflage, so we still can’t tell how it looks, but it will definitely get a folding soft-top.
