2018 Mercedes-AMG GT R is currently the most powerful safety car

Another year means another Formula 1 season. And soon, the 2018 season will kick off this weekend with the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne. This year marks the 23rd consecutive year and Mercedes Benz, again will provide the Safety Car for the most important motorsport event. Since 1996, Mercedes-Benz had been the supplier of the event’s safety car, from way back when it was the C36 AMG, to the Mercedes-AMG GT R today - this might be the most powerful F1 Safety Car of all time.

Under its hood is a biturbo 4.0 liter V8 engine that enables the car to carry out 577 horsepower. During the 2015 to 2017 seasons, the GT R just follows the lesser GT S version. Also, it will be Bernd Maylander who will be behind the wheel of F1’s official Safety Car.

In Maylander’s interview, he said that the highlight of this car would be its driving dynamics. And that he is glad that it is a level higher than the AMG GT S of recent years. He added that the safety car should be deployed as rarely as possible, but when they have to bunch up the Formula 1 field and drive it around the track, then it will be equipped with the AMG GT R.

BMW M4 GTS is named official DTM safety car for 2016 season

Specifically, for the 2016 season, the BMW M4 GTS will be the official DTM safety car.

To earn the privilege of being the lead car of what is considered the most popular international touring car series, the BMW M4 GTS has to meet high demands. As specified under DTM rules, the safety car has to be designed and even adapted to high-performance driving especially on the tracks.

The pace/safety cars for the MotoGP series this year are again from BMW’s M division. It was in 1999 that this division first teamed up with MotoGP when it got a Z8 and put in some graphics and a light bar to be used as a MotoGP safety car. Since then, a variety of BMW M cars have been used to lead a group of motorcycles.

In 2009, the division unveiled the X6 M sports activity coupe to the public in MotoGP safety car form. In 2013, BMW M offered eight vehicles for the series. Its most major development is the addition of the BMW M6 Gran Coupe, which was recently introduced at the 2013 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Aside from the 560-horsepower four-door coupe, we will also see the M6 coupe (with two fewer doors), and an M5 sedan (with the same engine) as safety cars.

A BMW M3 that uses frozen gray paint is what the safety officer of the track will be using. Meanwhile, the medics will carried by two M550d xDrive wagons. Lastly, two HP4 models will be used as safety bikes. These two vehicles will be entering the track at the Qatar Grand Prix, located at the Losail International Circuit in Qatar. “We are delighted that our cooperation with MotoGP is already entering its 15th season,” said Thomas Schemera, Director of Sales and Marketing at BMW M GmbH.

The new Formula 1 Safety Car is the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT, which replaces the regular SLS that had marshalled the events at the F1 race since 2010. There have been several AMG safety cars that had served as safety cars in the past years at this event. The GT is basically a modified version of the present SLS supercar.

It delivers 583bhp from its 6.2-litre V8 (up 20bhp) and comes with a retuned dual-clutch gearbox that offers better shift times. With these revisions, the SLS can accelerate from zero to 62mph by about a tenth of a second faster to just 3.7 seconds. It has a limited top speed of 197mph. Another feature that’s new to the SLS GT is AMG Ride Control.

This is the replacement for the three-mode system on the current car. It supposedly improves its dynamics with its aggressive suspension tuning. The automaker will be unveiling a production version of the SLS GT at the Paris motor show before it arrives this November at the UK showrooms. Mechanically, it is identical to the safety car.

Mercedes-Benz fans won’t have just the new Mercedes-AMG C-Coupé to get excited about at the 2012 German Touring Car Masters (DTM) season as the DTM Safety Car would also be from the automaker. The C 63 AMG Coupé Black Series will ensure the safety of the most popular touring car series in the world.

This two-seater has a maximum output of 380 kW (517 hp), making it the most powerful C-Class ever. The DTM season will start on April 29 at the Hockenheimring. The Safety Car comes under the supervision of the German Motorsport Association (DMSB), which is tasked to implement safety measures, making sure that the vehicles meet safety standards. It also oversees the attendant official sporting functions to comply with DTM rules.

Racing driver Jürgen Kastenholz will drive the C 63 AMG Coupé Black Series Safety Car, which works to make sure that the safety of the racing drivers, spectators and track marshals is at its maximum, especially in risky situations such as extreme weather conditions or accidents.

BMW will relive the tracks of the German DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft) as the company prepares three BMW M3 teams for the upcoming 2012 season. This will be first time BMW participated in the DTM series, also known as German Touring Car Championship, since 2000.  BMW allotted six race-spec M3s for the three teams, and another special M3 which serves as DTM series’ safety car.

The M3 safety car, whose images were posted at the BMW Motorsports Facebook page, is expected to be built not only for speed, but mainly for durability. The M3 safety car is expected to have a power output marginally less than the series racers’ 480 hp. The M3 safety car is expected to have a top speed a tad less than 186 mph.

The 2012 DTM season is expected to be the most interesting series in years after BMW returned to race, bringing the number of constructors to three, with Audi and Mercedes-Benz, and teams to nine.

For this MotoGP season, the BMW 1 Series M Coupe will be seen on racing tracks worldwide as it has been chosen to be the MotoGP safety car. The 1 Series M Coupe, which takes on the task for the first time, was confirmed awhile back to be the safety car of choice for the moto racing series.

As it is chased by a group of high-power motorcycles, it is putting on its fine clothes for when it circles the tracks. Several modifications had to be done to the 1 Series M Coupe for it to meet the requirements of a safety car. The BMW Safety Car is a one-off car produced by BMW M, using the same engine and drivetrain as the production version model. It will be powered by the 340hp straight-six M TwinPower Turbo engine.

But actually, the Safety Car is unlike any other 1 Series M. It features a carbon fiber-reinforced bonnet with additional large air vents, as well as polycarbonate side and rear windows.
