It has been three years since Toyota’s luxury division, Lexus, unveiled the LC Coupe at the 2016 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), which is also known as the Detroit Auto Show. Now at the same venue, Lexus is presenting to the global public an open -top study of the LC Coupe – the Lexus LC Convertible Concept.
As the luxury carmaker puts it, the Lexus LC Convertible Concept suggests future direction of its LC flagship. The premium carmaker calls the LC Convertible Concept as an aspirational halo vehicle for the entire Lexus lineup. In terms of looks, the LC Convertible Concept is essentially the LC Coupe without a fixed roof. For three years, not a few have imagine how the LC Coupe would appear if it become a convertible. The LC Convertible Concept is the realization of this imagination in metal.
As Tadao Mori, Chief Designer of the Lexus LC Convertible Concept, quipped, the show car re-imagines the unmistakable design of the LC Coupe as a future convertible. He added that the LC Convertible Concept is a blend all the best aspects of the original LC Coupe, but with the dynamic design of a convertible.Read the entire article Lexus LC Convertible Concept unveiled at 2019 Detroit Auto Show
The 2019 Detroit Auto Show – formally known as the North American International Auto Show – is standing witness to the debut of the refreshed iteration of the Lexus RC F coupe. However, making it debut alongside the RC F coupe is a version designed to live on the tracks. We are talking about the new Lexus RC F Track Edition.
Essentially, the Lexus RC F Track Edition is a more hardcore version of the RC F. The RC F, in turn, is the sportier edition of Lexus’ entry level RC coupe that was unveiled at the 2018 Paris Motor Show. That makes the RC F Track Edition the sportiest and most hardcore evolution of the RC coupe.
The Lexus RC F coupe is differentiated from the RC by a number of performance-related upgrades, just like better suspension, greater power and aerodynamics. The same is true with the RC F Track Edition, as this version is laden with precisely engineered upgrades that help push its performance to a whole new level. For instance, compared to the RC F, the RC F Track Edition is lighter and definitely has larger wings.Read the entire article Hardcore Lexus RC F Track Edition debuts at 2019 Detroit Auto Show

Every January of every year, auto companies, automotive fans and enthusiasts as well as potential customers flock to Detroit to attend the highly prestigious North American International Auto Show (NAIAS). Soon enough, this major auto show – also known as Detroit Auto Show – would be held in January no more.
It turns out that this NAIAS won’t be happening in January anymore by the end of the decade or 2020, as the event’s organizers have decided to shift its schedule to another time of the year, according to a report from The Detroit News. While the Detroit Auto Dealers Association – organizer of the NAIAS – has already made up its mind about the change in schedule, it has yet to announce when the auto show would be held.
Previously, the Detroit Auto Dealers Association (DADA) had considered moving the NAIAS to October or June. Rod Alberts, executive director of the DADA, had told The Detroit News that October was being flaunted as a nice time to hold the NAIAS. However, one of the mainstays of the Detroit Auto Show, General Motors Co. wanted the event to be moved to June.Read the entire article Organizers to move Detroit Auto Show from January to either June or October
There have been a number of reports lately regarding Mercedes-Benz and how the automaker is expected to withdraw from the 2019 North American International Auto Show that will take place next January in Detroit. And this is why we would like to clarify these statements with representatives from Mercedes-Benz.
Man Muncey, North American International Auto Show PR Manager, did respond to one inquiry saying that they have not heard from Mercedes-Benz regarding this matter just yet. Muncey also said in the email that it is not right for him to comment on this matter, unless they hear a statement or an answer from the automaker itself.
The first time we heard about this was when Automotive News cited a senior executive at Mercedes. Apparently, he said that the automaker will have to decide whether the North American International Show fits with the cadence of their launch calendar and if perhaps, there is a more effective format for its needs. After saying that, he then allegedly said that the brand might return for 2020.Read the entire article Rumour: Mercedes-Benz will pull out from 2019 Detroit Auto Show
Infiniti finally decides to share with us its Q Inspiration Concept at the recent 2018 North American International Auto Show. And whether you like the design of it or not, you better get used to it because this will be the look of next generation Infiniti vehicles.
For us, we actually find the Q Inspiration’s design quite fascinating. The grille alone is a head turner, considering the fact that it features a weird but interesting design of the company’s current double arch, filling it tightly with louvres. The air intakes on the lower fascia and the wheels give it a sporty aesthetic too. The shape of the headlights looks like cuts, which are complemented by similar lines on the hood.
Moving on to the rear, the design transitions into a sleeker look. The rear is like a fastback, and this flows from a smooth roof with thin pillars. The rounded tail is slightly understated with integrated exhausts. The rear is finished with a long strip of tail lights that stretch from one end to the other, while picking up some design cues from the sharp edged headlights.Read the entire article Infiniti reveals Q Inspiration Concept - a preview of their next-generation vehicles
After releasing images of the new 2019 Jeep Cherokee, the American brand has finally unveiled in metal the world-renowned mid-size sports utility vehicle at the 2018 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan.
Serving as an update or a refresh of the fifth generation of the Jeep Cherokee (KL generation), the 2019 iteration of the vehicle features a new, authentic and more premium design that remains faithful to the iconic Jeep styling. As previous images had already shown, the new Jeep Cherokee features an all-new front end that aligns with the mid-size SUV on the premium side of the Jeep family while sporting the iconic Jeep styling.
For instance, the new 2019 Jeep Cherokee now features conventional unified headlights. The new bi-LED projector headlamps have incorporated the signature Cherokee daytime running looks into one fixture, providing a fresh look, allowing the 2019 Cherokee to follow the visual lead of the latest iterations of the Jeep Compass and Jeep Grand Cherokee. The new 2019 Cherokee also features dual LED fog lights on the re-sculpted front fascia. Likewise, the new 2019 Cherokee has retained its signature waterfall hood and is mated to the seven-slot grille – signifying the mid-size SUV as a member of the Jeep family – in a single piece. Clean visual lines separate the sloping lightweight aluminum hood from the front fenders.Read the entire article Jeep reveals heavily updated 2019 Cherokee in metal at 2018 Detroit Auto Show
The current Lexus LX has been around for quite some time now. That means that it will have to be given a major upgrade if it is to continue to keep up with its rivals. The answer to this dilemma appears to be the recently unveiled LF-1 Limitless Concept. Though it may just be a concept for now, this could actually be a preview of the all new LX. After all, Lexus did say in an interview that their next concept could likely shape the future of a flagship luxury crossover.
To design the Lexus LF-1 Limitless, the automaker partnered with CALTY Design Research in California. The collaboration came up with a concept that has a bold exterior design, which was created by the same team that helped in the FT-1 project that acts as a preview to the new Supra. Similar to some concepts out there, it sits on a set of large 22 inch wheels, while adopting a sharp appearance in line with the company’s recent models.
To be more specific, the LF-1 Limitless’ dimensions are: 5014 mm (197.4 inches) long, 1986 mm (78.2 inches) wide, and 1605 mm (63.2 inches) in height. The concept is just a little bit longer and wider than the LX, and also sits closer to the ground. As for the wheelbase, it is a bit shorter than that of the LX, stretching at 2974 mm (117.1 inches).Read the entire article Lexus LF-1 Limitless Concept may be a preview of the upcoming LX
For those of you who are looking to get a new pickup truck, you might want to consider the 2019 Ram 1500, as the facelifted model not only has been made lighter, but is also powerful, safer, and more capable.
First of all, it is now 225 pounds lighter than its predecessor, because the tailgate is now made of aluminum, while the frame is now made of high strength steel. Unlike the Ford F-Series, the Ram is not getting an all aluminum body just yet. That is because steel is still needed for areas that need long term durability, says head of Ram, Jim Morrison.
Another area that has been greatly improved would be the truck’s aerodynamics. Its overall drag coefficient has decreased by nine percent to 0.357. This is the result of the standard active grille shutters, higher bed side rails, and of course, a lower suspension. It even comes with an electrically deployable aero spoiler that extends down from the bumper when the car hits 30-35 miles per hour. If in case the spoiler hits something on the road, there is no need to worry as it has the one-way clutch linkage. Trucks with air suspension also lower about 0.6 inch at higher speeds.Read the entire article 2019 Ram 1500 is lighter, safer, stronger, and more stylish than predecessor
If you had plans to head to the 2018 Detroit Auto Show this month to see cars like the BMW Concept X7 iPerformance, we have got some bad news for you. The concept car is currently not on display because it got into an accident on its way there.
The very first time we saw this concept was at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. It was then followed by another public appearance in the United States, just six weeks ago. The concept’s next schedule was then supposed to already be at Detroit, unfortunately, it is not meant to be.
In their statement to Autonews, the automaker just said that the X7 Concept got damaged while being transported to Detroit by delivery truck, though they did not share any more details regarding the accident or how it happened. We also do not know how heavily damaged it was. To replace the X7 Concept in the show, the automaker displayed a standard 7 Series sedan instead.Read the entire article BMW X7 Concept is no-show in Detroit due to damages sustained in transit
Nissan is well-known for creating groundbreaking crossovers as well as sports utility vehicles. At the 2018 North American International Auto Show (Detroit Auto Show), the Japanese carmaker has unveiled a new design study that signals its design direction for 2020 and beyond – in the form of the new Nissan Xmotion three-row SUV Concept.
Pronounced as “cross motion,” the Xmotion concept explores the possible design for Nissan’s future compact SUV. It features a striking exterior that looks into the future with its sculpted body and menacing front end, as well as a well-crafted interior inspired by Japanese landscape. Just like a purposeful traditional SUV, the Xmotion comes with a high stance, bulked-up fenders, high-utility proportions as well as all-terrain-ready wheels and tires. The new Xmotion delivers American-style utility while taking inspiration from Japanese culture, and also fusing traditional craftsmanship with new-generation Nissan Intelligent Mobility technology.
The new Nissan Xmotion concept sports a bold evolution of the brand’s signature V-motion grille, now wider and deeper, to the point that this new form was the inspiration behind the name of the concept. The new grille dons horizontal bars inspired by Japanese architecture, featuring a blade-like appearance with deep carbon color and high-gloss finish. Nissan hopes to employ this evolved V-motion grille for future production crossovers and SUVs.Read the entire article Nissan reveals Xmotion design study at 2018 Detroit Auto Show
Acura has unveiled the 2019 Acura RDX Prototype at the 2018 North American International Auto Show (Detroit Auto Show), and as expected, the precursor to the luxury brand’s next generation of the premium compact sports utility vehicle didn’t fail to impress. It seems like Acura is sticking to the formula that allowed the RDX to become a best-seller, while adding more space, power and luxury.
Although the Acura RDX unleashed at the Detroit Auto Show is labeled as a Prototype, it is seen as very close to the final production version. Both Honda and Acura are famous for revealing prototypes that are very similar to their final production versions. Thus, the 2019 Acura RDX Prototype could simply be a production-ready example of the newest generation of the premium compact SUV.
The new Acura RDX Prototype embodies the most extensive Acura redesign in more than a decade. Completely redesigned from top to bottom, the RDX Prototype is the first Acura model to fully employ the brand’s new exterior design language that made its debut in the Acura Precision Concept. It is also the first Acura model to feature the new interior design and technology shown in the Acura Precision Cockpit. As penned, the new Acura RDX Prototype features a design that starts from the luxury brand’s signature diamond pentagon grille, and continues through its sharply sculpted body, dynamic character lines. Last year, Ford confirmed that the Ranger will finally return to the United States market. And here they are now, pulling the wraps off the 2019 midsized pickup. It has an all-new design that was made specially for the US. Having said that, it is slightly different from the Rangers we have been seeing overseas.
One can easily recognize the 2019 Ranger as a Ford even in a pool of midsize pickups. This is because of the horizontal bar grille and its unique vents on the front fenders. The flared fenders give the truck its toughness, while the angled windshield is meant to reduce drag and wind noise. A Ranger logo can also be found on the tailgate. The truck has short overhangs which are meant to improve off-road approach and departure angles. Two variations of this will be available, a SuperCab (half rear doors) and a SuperCrew with four doors.
Ford Ranger is being marketed at those who live in the city, but who are adventurous enough to explore the outdoors. Simply put, the pickup truck strikes a balance between the city and the outdoors.Read the entire article 2019 Ford Ranger marks nameplate’s US comeback with 2.3L EcoBoost power, FX4 Off-Road version
Hyundai believes that the Veloster is doing a good job, and so it is taking the sports coupe and its Turbo version for another ride as new, second generation models for the 2019 model year. In fact, the all-new 2019 Hyundai Veloster and Veloster Turbo have just been unwrapped at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show.
While Hyundai is saying that the second generation of the Veloster has been comprehensively redesigned, the exterior of the newest iteration seemed similar to its predecessor. However, there is truth to this claim, as much of the redesign was derived from the sports coupe’s enhanced proportions and volume. Compared to its predecessor, the new Veloster is longer by around 0.8 inches and wider by 0.4 inches.
While the 2019 Veloster is as tall as the previous model, its rear headroom has grown by 0.6 inches. Retaining an asymmetrical two-plus-one configuration, the new Veloster features a more muscular stance with more voluminous fenders and wheel arches. Hyundai moved both the cowl point and A-pillar rearward to link the hood line and belt line. Its coupe-like presence is made possible by its lowered roofline and coupe-inspired fender line. On the rear, the Veloster comes with a more assertive integrated diffuser.Read the entire article Hyundai reveals second-generation Veloster and Veloster Turbo at 2018 Detroit Auto Show
Hyundai’s new N high-performance brand is announcing its entry into the United States with the unveiling of the 2019 Veloster N, its first N model for the US market, at the 2018 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan.
Developed at Hyundai’s global R&D center in Namyang, South Korea, and refined at its Nurburgring-based testing site in Germany, the new Veloster N boasts of a number of design details that differentiate it from the Hyudai Veloster line. As a high-performance iteration of the Veloster, it is served by a more powerful engine matched by an electronically-controlled suspension. According to the South Korean carmaker, the Veloster N was developed to deliver thrilling cornering ability, everyday sports car drivability as well as race track capability.
Hyundai worked hard to differentiate the Veloster N from the Veloster Turbo and R-Spec models, and achieved this through an array of exterior, interior and mechanical elements. For instance, the Veloster N sports an exclusive N-design front fascia and grille, as well as front air ducts for better brake cooling. On the rear, the Veloster N dons a larger N-design rear spoiler. It also features a new rear fascia design with integrated diffuser as well as a high-flow dual exhaust.Read the entire article Hyundai reveals 2019 Veloster N high-performance model at 2018 Detroit Auto Show
It seems like it is now the year of pickup trucks. Adding fuel to this growing opinion is Ford’s recent announcement that they will bring the Ranger back to the United States, and now Chevrolet’s newest Silverado in the 2019 model year had just made its debut in Detroit, ahead of the 2018 North American International Auto Show. This may not be the first time we are seeing this, as we saw the Z71 Trailboss trim last month, but this time, we are seeing the complete eight trim levels.
What makes the new Chevy Silverado unique is that it has dropped some weight. It is now 450 pounds lighter than its predecessor. This was made possible with the new mixed-material construction, combining both aluminum and steel throughout the truck’s body. Aluminum control arms in the suspension also save weight while improving rigidity.
Mark Reuss, GM’s boss, boasts about the Silverado’s bed, calling it the most functional bed of any full size pickup. That is because it will be offered in different lengths and is now seven inches wider than before. There will also be as much as seven cubic feet of lockable storage space over the wheel wells. A power tailgate can be controlled from inside the truck too, and is a first in the industry.Read the entire article 2019 Chevy Silverado is lighter by 450 pounds, choose from 8 trims
The 2019 Kia Forte may not be as great as its bigger brother, the Stinger, in term of performance. However, the third generation sedan gets some of the Stinger’s design elements, like the more aggressive lower fascia as well as the new set of sweptback headlights. It looks more coupe-like now because of the flowing roof as well as the shorter rear.
Apart from the new style, the Forte has also been made more efficient. The automaker equips it with the so called Intelligent Variable Transmission, which is the company’s CVT gearbox that was developed in house. It also has a six speed manual as an option. This is paired to a 2.0 liter four cylinder that runs on the Atkinson Cycle, helping it produce as much as 147 horsepower and 132 pound feet of torque.
There are no exact figures for now, but Kia claims that this engine with the CVT can get 35 miles per gallon combined fuel economy, that gives it 3 miles per gallon more than the Forte with a six-speed automatic.Read the entire article 2019 Kia Forte gets Stinger-inspired cues, has combined fuel economy of up to 35 mpg
