Toyota has been driving around the 2019 Toyota Avalon in camouflage for quite some time now, but still, none of us have seen it without its cover. However, we will not have to wait much longer as the revamped Toyota full-sizer will make its debut next month at the 2018 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. It will feature an all new design as well as a new platform technology.
Apart from the teaser photo that gives us a detailed look of the new sharper and slimmer headlights, that remind us of the mid-sized Camry, the automaker has not shared any more details about the new car. Based on the spy photos we saw this summer, we could tell that the front fascia will have a much larger air intake too. Overall, the Avalon would look a little more aggressive in style, which will actually help it get more attention.
Just like any other new Toyota vehicle, the Avalon will be based on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) for its underpinnings, which will be featured on the new Camry as well. We think that this model will carry quite a lot of power too based on the prototypes we have seen that were designed with quad exhaust tips. However, sources say that two of the exhaust tips from the prototypes are not real as part of a plan to throw off spy photographers. We expect the Avalon to have the same 3.5 liter V6 engine or a four-cylinder hybrid. While they’re nothing new, both will bring power to all four wheels.Read the entire article 2019 Toyota Avalon teased ahead of 2018 Detroit Auto Show
IMSA wins will be celebrated with release of Championship Editions for 2018 Cadillac ATS-V and CTS-V
Over the past racing season, Cadillac has seen a wealth of success on the track. In fact, they took home the IMSA Weather Tech championship for the 2017 season. On one hand, Konica Minolta took home the Team championship; and on the other hand, brothers Ricky and Jordan Taylor brought home the Driver’s championship. To celebrate their success on the track, the American automaker will offer a couple of minimally modified performance vehicles to mark this occasion.
Having said that, it will be the ATS-V coupe and sedan, as well as the CTS-V sedan that will be getting a special Championship Edition to celebrate the success. Customers can choose from two exterior finishes including Black Raven or Crystal White Tricoat.
To make it stand out from the rest of the models, it gets unique side view mirrors caps finished in Red Obsession. It also gets DPi-V.R. graphics on the quarter windows, red Brembo brake calipers, and forged polish-finished alloy V-Series wheels. All the red bits and pieces will definitely make it stand out from the rest. Don’t you think?Read the entire article IMSA wins will be celebrated with release of Championship Editions for 2018 Cadillac ATS-V and CTS-V
Drag races usually pit one vehicle against another to see which of them would cross the finish line first. This has become a popular type of motor racing and some even do it to determine which of the two cars is quicker. Somehow, a certain drag race had a new Volkswagen Arteon go up against an older BMW 5-Series (F10), and the action is all recorded on video.
The video – created by Odessa Drag – saw action between a gold-colored automatic VW Arteon R-Line powered by a 2.0-liter engine and a black-finished BMW 5 Series (F10) powered by a 3.0-liter petrol mill. As the race starts, the golden VW Arteon managed to pull away quickly from its opponent. The video is quite noisy – as if there’s a horde of mosquitoes in the area – as it was captured through a flying drone. Based from the video, the drag race appears like it might have occurred in the city of Odessa in Ukraine, Eastern Europe.
At the end, the BMW 5 Series never recovered and the VW Arteon proved to be the better vehicle between the two. However, the information provided by the uploader is so scant that it doesn’t provide a clear picture of the drama of the drag race. If you consider how loaded the model version is, the BMW 5 Series isn’t expected to easily lose against the VW Arteon. In fact, in some power matchups, the BMW 5 Series might have won.Read the entire article VW Arteon goes up against BMW 5 Series F10 in intense drag race [w/video]
The Middle East is home to a number of one-off vehicles, as well as specially modified luxury cars. Almost every month, we hear about new cars being unveiled or brought into the country, and a lot of them are BMWs.
Now, one of the latest models that BMW Abu Dhabi Motors has on display is the mind blowing range-topping 7 Series that’s currently on sale. The last model we saw before this was the impressive M760Li xDrive finished in Imola Red, which we saw a few weeks ago. Now, BMW’s Long Beach Blue M760Li xDrive is just as striking as the last model we saw.
This is definitely not the first time we have seen this hue on a car. In fact, it has been used on different models like the M2 pocket rocket. You might also agree if I say that this colour looks a bit too wild on the large sedan. Thanks to the black carbon fiber accents all throughout the car, from the mirror caps to the 21-inch multi-spoke 629 design wheels, the whole package now looks so much better. But that’s not all that this car has to boast about. The car also has a 3D Design Body kit that adds some nice details here and there. Lastly, it has got a trunk lid spoiler from the M Performance.Read the entire article M760Li Individual Long Beach Blue is BMW Abu Dhabi’s latest flagship on display
As the 2018 Detroit Auto Show is fast approaching, we expect to see an exciting array of concept cars and production vehicles from various brands. One of these automakers would be Infiniti and according to reports, the Japanese automaker will be bringing in a performance EV concept once the doors open to the Cobo Center in January. Apart from that, we are also expecting a second flagship sedan that will join the concept.
Alfonso Albaisa, who is the head of design for Infiniti, mentioned in his interview with Car and Driver, that the new and improved QX80 will have a very high level of luxury. The new QX80 will have an active suspension; it also reportedly will use open-pore wood.
Of course, it will also have a ton of luxurious features, befitting of a flagship SUV. Though he didn’t only talk about SUVs in his interview. He also mentioned that Infiniti will be having a brand-new flagship sedan concept at the Detroit Auto Show in January. It will act as a preview of the future production version on a flagship four-door that we will see in the lineup in a couple of years or so.Read the entire article Infiniti will reveal new flagship sedan concept in Detroit
The 2018 Jaguar XEL with its stretched-out wheelbase and longer doors is the newest addition to the growing list of premium sedans in China---joining the ranks of Mercedes-Benz C-Class L, BMW 3Li and Audi A4L in the long wheelbase category.
Given the increased wheelbase measurement, the XEL is basically an upsized XE variant. But to further differentiate between the regular XE and the elongated sedan, the XEL’s side sills and door handles have been specially painted in chrome in addition to the special XEL badges placed across the windows.
The wheelbase now has an overall measurement of 2,935mm (or 115.5 inches) after Jaguar has extended the distance between the two axles by 3.9 inches (100mm). In contrast, the standard XF’s wheelbase is longer by an inch or 25mm. With this additional measurement, the new XEL offers more legroom than the XE with at least an extra 4.4 inches (112mm) as well as an additional knee space of 3.9 inches (100mm) on the rear seats.Read the entire article Jaguar unveils latest XEL sedan at the 2017 Guangzhou Motor Show
Days ago, Mercedes-Benz provided us with images of the face of the next generation 2019 CLS-Class. And today, the teasing continues as we get a view of the stylish sedan’s interior, which has a lot of red accents. Fortunately, it won’t be a long wait since the CLS will soon make its premiere at the Los Angeles Auto Show in a few weeks.
While looking at the CLS-Class, we can’t help but think that it is the E-Class’ better-looking sibling, especially with its handsome interior design that’s shown here. It has an ultra-wide panel that contains the infotainment and instrument displays. This design creates the illusion of a wider interior. There is also crimson ambient lighting behind the screen that makes it more sophisticated, complete with a strip of carbon fiber trims on the HVAC vents.
Furthermore, Mercedes has informed us that this model features the newly introduced Energizing Comfort system. What makes this new feature exciting is that it is integrated on the vehicle’s comfort systems. These include the ambient lighting, climate control, and the seat’s heating, ventilation and massage functions. Passengers can enjoy several modes when it comes to comfort, and these include Freshness, Warmth, Vitality, and Joy modes. Like the S-Class, there are also options like Comfort and Training.Read the entire article Teaser: Next-gen 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS interior features stylish ultra-wide panel with red accents
When BMW introduced the next generation of the M5 (F90), it made sure that the new model is more powerful and even faster with more aggressive styling. But while BMW’s high-performance four-door sports sedan really does its part both in terms of execution and looks, there are still people who are wondering and imagining what the new BMW M5 would look like when transformed from a sedan to a convertible.
For those who are wondering, let Aksyonov Nikita – a rendering artist from St. Petersburg, Russia -- satisfy your imagination. Nikita posted his renderings works of a new BMW M5 convertible on professional sharing site Behance. And it actually looks like it’s the German premium carmaker that created this roofless version of the high-performance sports sedan.
Apparently, Nikita’s convertible creation was derived or chopped off the new BMW M5 MotoGP Safety Car, which made its debut on the final round of the 2017 season this month and which is set to continue its duties for the whole 2018 MotoGP season. Nikita practically removed the roof, the B- and C-pillars of the new BMW M5 MotoGP Safety Car. Nikita also removed the red emergency lights, the windows and rear windshield. Furthermore, Nikita slightly flattened the rear deck of the BMW M5 MotoGP Safety Car.Read the entire article BMW M5 (F90) sedan rendered by a Russian artist as a convertible
As BMW has already revealed, the next generation of the BMW M5 (F90) is a four-wheel drive high-performance sedan with overwhelming power output and torque at its disposal. However, it was recently revealed that the next M5 was initially conceived as a rear-wheel drive sedan.
This was divulged by Dirk Hacker, vice-president of BMW’s M division, to Autocar. According to Hacker, the first prototype for the BMW M5 (F90) that was built over three years ago was a rear-wheel drive vehicle. He remarked that back then, having a rear-wheel driven M5 was the natural, “historic way to go.” The M5 has been – for the past five generations – a rear-wheel drive high-performance sports sedan.
Nonetheless, BMW M changed its mind. As Hacker disclosed, the M Division realized that they were beyond the limits of longitudinal acceleration. This means that adopting a four-wheel drive system for the sixth generation of the BMW M5 was the only option.Read the entire article First prototype of BMW M5 (F90) was a rear-wheel drive model
BMW has given birth to another high-performance model that essentially brings the dynamism, expressiveness, practicality and on-the-road superiority into a whole new level – the new BMW M3 (F80) CS.
With the four-door BMW M4 CS initially posting resounding success, it was inevitable that BMW would create a second model having the same designation. Just like the M4 CS, the new four-door M3 CS is lighter and faster than the model (M3) from which it was derived.
As the first-ever BMW M3 CS special-edition model, there is a need to make sure that its appearance promptly conveys its performance capabilities. Its three-dimensionally contoured front end is defined by a slender kidney grille flanked by the twin headlight units featuring state-of-the-art LED technology. The three-part front apron of the new M3 CS underscores its dynamic nature while providing the needed efficient cooling for both the powerful twin-turbo six-cylinder engine and the powerful braking system.Read the entire article First-ever BMW M3 CS is lighter and more powerful than regular model
As October ends and we get closer to the end of the year, we welcome more auto shows where automakers take the opportunity to display their unique cars and concepts. Speaking of shows, the latest one would be the SEMA. Just after BMW previewed its M Performance Parts made especially for the 2018 BMW M5 (F90), the automaker is letting us have a closer look at the sporty goods, which they presented through the MotoGP Safety Car.
During the first day of the 2017 SEMA Show at Las Vegas, BMW revealed the midsize sedan, which at first glance, seems to have gained an aerodynamic body kit. It was made with a number of carbon fiber components, which overall gave the M5 a more aggressive look. Customers who are willing to pay extra can get optional parts like a front bumper attachment, extended side sills, and a rear spoiler.
If you want a more modified ride, you can even opt for a beefy rear diffuser, and even have your side mirror caps dipped in carbon fiber, the same as the front and air breather trim side grilles. Lastly, you can pay an extra cost if you want your M5 to be equipped with an M Performance coilover suspension with adjustable red springs.Read the entire article BMW displays M5 (F90) with fully loaded M Performance package at 2017 SEMA Show
As I write this article, the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show is currently ongoing. And in the event are a number of interesting concepts and production models. One of them would be the near production prototype of the new Crown, which we might see sometime next year. We first saw the current and the 14th generation Toyota Crown in 2012, following a facelift it went through in 2015. Now, the model is almost five years old and its about time for it to get a successor. The Crown’s legacy began way back in 1955.
What we are most excited about the new Crown Concept is the fact that it will be based on a brand new platform, the TNGA, which all future Toyota models will be switching to as well. The new platform will make driving more enjoyable for the driver while pursuing a future mobility society. The automaker’s statement may sound a bit vague, but we are guessing that the new model would be lighter, and would be easier to handle with its improved driving stability. This model will even be tested at the Green Hell. It all boils down to one thing though, the automaker’s promise that customers will enjoy the Crown’s driving experience.
Based on the photos we have seen, the new Crown looks much longer than the current generation. The new one measures 193 inches (4,190 millimeters), while its predecessor is at 192 inches (4,885 mm). With a longer wheelbase, passengers will have more space and larger trunk capacity too. However, it is 39 millimeters narrower compared to its predecessor.Read the entire article Toyota Crown Concept shows up at 2017 Tokyo Motor Show
The photos are courtesy of a guy from Sweden who claims to have ordered a 540i x G30 and is expecting its arrival next summer. Notably, the pictures were taken without sunlight so there may be some variation. Nevertheless, this customer is excited to share these photos with fellow BMW enthusiasts to see what they have to say about this uncommon colour.
The usual silver that we’re accustomed to seeing on cars doesn’t display any hints of chrome or lilac unlike the Rhodonite Silver Metallic on the 5-series models. Interestingly, BMW Individual Program has other interesting exterior color options including Azurite Black that drops a tinge of blue into it and Champagne Quartz with traces of metallic purple, gold and beige all rolled into one. Of course, there’s the Almandine Brown Metallic that looks so dark you’d think it’s another shade of black. But since both the xDrive Touring G31 540d and the G30 530e plugin hybrid are donning BMW M Sport packages, the Individual colour must have been particularly chosen as an upgrade which we estimate will cost you about £1,740.Read the entire article Check out the Rhodonite Silver paint job on BMW 530e (G30) plug-in hybrid, 540d (G31) xDrive Touring
Genesis, Hyundai’s luxury brand, recently launched the 2018 Genesis G70 to go against German models like the BMW 3 Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and Audi A4. But while its rivals offer their models in wagon variants, Hyundai doesn’t have a G70 wagon variant. This is because some customers just prefer to have a little more space for their junk. To keep up with the competition, Genesis might need to have a long roof variant of its own. But how would it look? X-Tomi Design helps us imagine it.
The current G70’s design features a flowing roof that goes all the way to its sporty rear, including an integrated upward kink towards the edge of the trunk. X-Tomi Design’s rendering retains its original shape, but stretches it a little creating a longer line and some extra space in the rear. The rear end now gets a spoiler to keep its performance-oriented appearance.
At this moment, Genesis offers three options of the G70 at launch in South Korea, and they have not given any details regarding the US-spec model. The Korean version’s base trim has a 2.0 liter turbocharged four-cylinder that carries out 248 horsepower (185 kilowatts), and with the Performance Package, 251 horsepower (187 kilowatts) and 260 pound-feet (353 Newton-metres) of torque. Another option is the 2.2 liter four-cylinder turbodiesel with 200 horsepower (149 kilowatts). And for the range topping trim, you’ll get a 3.3 liter turbocharged V6 that produces as much as 365 horsepower (272 kilowatts) and 376 pound-feet (510 Nm) of torque. Customers can either opt for a rear wheel drive or an all-wheel drive.Read the entire article X-Tomi Design renders the 2018 Genesis G70 as a wagon
The current BMW 7 Series made its debut two years ago at the BMW headquarters in Munich, before it made its way to the International Auto Show in Germany weeks after. It was the first 7 Series that was introduced as a plug-in hybrid variant.
However, this one-off M760Li was customized by BMW Individual customization program. It wears an Austin Yellow paint job that looks good on the sedan, while riding on a set of 21-inch multi-spoke wheels. This is the only 7 Series that has been painted in this unique shade. This colour is typically reserved for an M4 or an M3, and you can find this unit showcased in BMW Abu Dhabi.
The 7 Series’ interior is then finished in creme-coloured leather, which stretches from the seats, to the dash, and to the center console. To bring some flair to it, BMW Individual also added wood paneling and black leather on the steering wheel and on the dash. When looking at it, the model’s exterior paint and interior colours seem to be lacking some contrast. We think that a black interior would make a better contrast with the yellow paint.Read the entire article Austin Yellow M760Li by BMW Individual displayed in Abu Dhabi
Jaguar has just released the first official image of its newest offering, the new Jaguar XEL. Essentially the long-wheelbase version of the Jaguar XE compact sedan, the new Jaguar XEL is designed to offer a more spacious interior and is targeted only towards the large auto market in China.
Customers in China are known to prefer premium vehicles, especially ones that offer a spacious rear cabin. This is primarily because more Chinese customers like to be chauffeured, instead of being behind the steering. Because of this, vehicles offering more than ample legroom in the rear cabin are heavily desired by Chinese customers. To this end, carmakers are incessant in offering lengthy vehicles or long-wheelbase versions of their current models. Jaguar has already joined the long list of carmakers trying to get a chunk of the humongous auto market in China. Just last year, Jaguar launched the long-wheelbase version of the XF – the XFL – in the country. Now, the British carmaker officially revealed the looks of the new Jaguar XEL.
Overall, the Jaguar XEL basically looks like the Jaguar XE, except for some tweaks on the dimensions of a number of its parts to accommodate the longer wheelbase. Underpinned supposedly by the new JLR modular vehicle architecture that also underpins the Jaguar XE and XF, the new Jaguar XEL also features a coupe-like profile and a dynamic cab-rearward stance. It has the same dynamic sculpted hood and signature J-Blade daytime running lights as the XE.Read the entire article Jaguar reveals first image of China-bound XEL long-wheelbase compact sedan
To some, the Toyota Century may appear like a vintage model. Incidentally, the Century had been Toyota’s flagship luxury sedan for 30 years beginning in 1967. It was only in 1997 that Toyota followed up the first generation with the second-generation model. Now on its third generation or twenty years after since its second iteration was launched, Toyota Japan’s regal four-door limousine is preparing to grace 2017 Tokyo Motor Show.
What can we confirm so far? The 2018 Toyota Century will take the same classic shape of its predecessors, but this time, it gets a longer wheel base and wider body. The boxy shape and minimalistic design only adds up to the vehicle’s very unique and stately charm.
Sitting on a larger wheelbase of 121 inches (3,090mm), the new Century measures 210 inches (5,335mm) long, 76 inches (1,930mm) wide, and 59 inches (1,505mm) tall. Getting in and out of the vehicle will be so much easier thanks to the additional length and height of the door opening. It may look every inch a classic but the car already features Toyota’s wide range of safety systems and the latest technologies including a hybrid powertrain and adaptive LED headlights.Read the entire article Third-generation Toyota Century is revealed ahead of 2017 Tokyo Motor Show
Has a Range Rover sedan ever crossed your mind? Well, if it hasn’t, it will now. That is because Land Rover has expressed an interest in building a sedan. Furthermore, the automaker says that the Road Rover nameplate might arrive in 2019 as an electric vehicle. This time, it would not be an off roader, but instead, it will have the same platform as the next Jaguar XJ and will focus on luxury and design.
Having said that, an artist thought of bringing the proposed Road Rover idea to life. This designer, Kleber Silva, is based in Sao Paolo, Brazil and he rendered a Road Rover Velar sedan based on all the information he got. As the name suggests, it gets a number of design elements from its larger sibling, and it looks good.
If you check out the exterior, the front fascia and rectangular grille have been brought over from the Range Rover Velar SUV, as well as similar vents and LED light fixtures around it. Silva also borrowed the same wheels from the Velar. The rear end, on the other hand, looks sharp and is accented by tail lights that resemble that of the Range Rover’s. The exterior has been finished off with a polarizing bright gold paint.Read the entire article Brazilian artist reimagines Range Rover Velar SUV as Road Rover electric-powered sedan
Hyundai just announced that the fifth generation 2018 Accent will not be available in a hatchback variant, but instead will get a number of upgrades inside and out.
Starting with the style, the Accent borrowed some elements from its Elantra and Sonata siblings, while boasting its own unique flair. Social Capital CEO Chamath Palihapitiya has presumed the entire (BMW 3 Series) business will “go to zero” judging by the number of pre-orders made for Tesla Model 3. Appearing on CNBC’s Fast Money Half Time Report, Palihapitiya claims that orders for the 3 Series are already being hit significantly by Tesla’s more affordable EV, adding that people do not know anything about the level of demand surrounding the popular Tesla Model. Adam Jones of Morgan Stanley has opposed the claim, citing both political and international contexts to the businesses.
Palihapitiya is a former member of Facebook’s senior executive team and has just attended the 2017 Delivering Alpha conference in New York last September 12. Earlier this week, the investment analyst pointed out there is not one person in his right mind who would choose BMW 3 Series over Tesla.
Despite this, BMW i3 has received a makeover in the hopes of competing with Tesla’s long ranging, lower priced sedan. The revamped i3 will be featuring a host of optional driver assistance technologies including adaptive cruise control though we know it won’t make the range any better. Like before, the i3 can only run up to 160 kilometers per charge plus it comes with an extended range of about 290 km. In contrast, the Tesla Model 3 boasts a range that goes somewhere between 350km and 500km.Read the entire article Investment analyst foresees Tesla Model 3 market domination over BMW 3 Series
