2019 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 can go as fast as 200 mph

A couple of days ago, official sketches of the 2019 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500’s engine emerged online. And now, The Truth About Cars just found out that the pony is capable of reaching the 200 miles per hour (320 kilometers per hour) mark.

Sources say that there had been leaked information about the speedometer verification procedure, and that the car’s speedometer will reach 214 miles per hour (344 kilometers per hour), which means that the GT500 performs a little better than its rivals now.

Track-only 2018 Shelby 1000 will be loaded with 1,000 horsepower

Last week at the 2017 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, we witnessed something that may come as a threat to the Dodge Hellcat, and it is Ford’s latest Shelby Mustang, and it has got a whopping 1,000 horsepower (745 kilowatts), which is why it was dubbed the Shelby 1000. The automaker’s latest kit can be added onto any 2015 or later Ford Mustang.

Unlike before, the Mustang GT will lose the 5.0 liter V8 that it once had. This will then be replaced by a 5.2-liter V8 from Shelby GT350 that will be added with a 4.5 liter Whipple supercharger that pushes its limit to an estimated 1,000 horsepower (745 kilowatts). Apart from the new engine, it will also get a new high-flow fuel system, intercooler, ECU tuning, and an upgraded manual transmission.

It will never be enough to just give the Mustang a new and more powerful engine, right? And because all of you probably agree, Ford does too. This is why they are giving the Mustang an all new front fascia, hood, front fenders, rockers, quarter-panels, rear diffuser, exhaust, and widened front and rear tracks. The body now sits on a fully adjustable coilover suspension, and new Brembo brakes for added stopping power. Other parts that have been added are stronger spindles and hubs, hardened wheel studs, and wider wheels and tires.

Original Shelby Crew reunites to produce 36 'new' 1965 Ford GT350R Mustang units

It is quite common to revive classic cars if you have a lot of extra money. Models like the Jaguar XKSS and Aston Martin’s DB4 GT have been upgraded to suit the current market. The classic Shelby has been around for many years. And now, it is the latest classic to receive a series of continuation specials. But what makes it even more special is that the people who revived the 1965 GT350R Mustang are the same people who build the original Shelby decades ago.

CEO of the Original Venice Crew company, Jim Marietta, said that the Shelby team learned a lot from racing Cobras and Daytona Coupes and adapted their experiences to revive the 1965 Shelby classic by turning it into a race horse like Carroll Shelby’s Cobra. He told us that three of them were part of the development of the first Shelby GT350R in California. They recently got together two years ago and has since decided to do this special project. He explained that in 1965, they had envisioned an ‘R’ model but could not build one because of some restraints like time and cost.

The crew acquired full licensing from Carroll Shelby and Ford, and will only recreate 36 examples of the “new” 1965 GT350R Mustang. These will match the number of originals from that year, and will come with a Shelby serial number.

2018 Shelby F-150 Super Snake arrives with impressive design and power

The wait for the Mustang’s GT-based Super Snake concept to be released is finally over. Shelby had recently collaborated with Ford Performance and Borla to come up with something that will definitely interest truck enthusiasts. The F-150 gets a Super Snake treatment that makes it even more hardcore than the already intimidating Raptor. And what makes it even more special is that the company is only building 150 examples.

Let’s begin with performance. The F-150 Super Snake will be equipped with a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine that can carry out a whopping 750 horsepower (600 kilowatts). This engine will be paired with a two-wheel or a four-wheel drive configuration depending on the customer’s preference.

In terms of design, the Super Snake comes with a more aggressive body from the redesigned hood to the new bumpers. The tonneau cover and the extra spoilers are all custom-made. To make it even more distinct than a regular F-150, the special edition gets a set of 22-inch chrome wheels, and racing stripes that stretch from the hood, the roof, all the way to the rear of the truck, contrasting its blue exterior paint job – in typical Shelby fashion. The easiest way to spot one of these examples would be through the Super Snake badging that you’ll find on the front grille, and also in the interior.

Ford Motor Company confirmed that the 2018 Shelby GT350 and the 2018 Shelby GT350R Mustang will be available and is expected to arrive in various showrooms in the fall of this year. The 2018 version will be the same as its 2017 counterparts with the exception being that Ford will be offering three new colors for the exterior. These are Kona Blue, Lead Foot Gray, and Orange Fury.

That only new colors are offered is not much of a surprise is it was late last year when Ford confirmed that if the release of the 2018 model year would push through, there will no changes from the 2017 version. The announcement was made Monday, April 17, and is considered significant as this day is also celebrated as National Mustang Day.

The new models will be powered by the same FPC 5.2-liter V8 engine which can deliver 526 hp and offer a peak torque of 429 lb.-ft. There will also be the transmission, differential coolers, and engine oil, to ensure that the vehicle is cooled properly especially when on the track. Fitted to the 2018 versions as standard is the exceptional braking system which comes with the Brembo six-piston calipers and the two-piece 15.5-inch front rotors. It even has the MagneRide damping system to make sure that the 2018 versions remain well-balanced.

The renowned Shelby Super Snake is now 50 years old! As we greet the Super Snake a “happy birthday” or a “happy anniversary,” Shelby itself is celebrating half a century of this ultra-high performance muscle car with a new generation car.

Just like its 1967 and 2007 predecessors, the 2017 Shelby Super Snake is based on the Ford Mustang. For the latest generation of the Shelby Super Snake, the base was the 2017 Ford Mustang GT Fastback. A number of tweaks have been made to transform the 2017 Ford Mustang GT into the 2017 Shelby Super Snake. Shelby American and Ford Performance worked hand in hand to deliver the latest generation of the Super Snake, with the cooperation of partners like Borla, Michelin and Wilwood.

At its finest form, the 2017 Ford Mustang GT – powered by an already powerful 5.0-liter Ti-VCT V8 engine – could provide 435 hp of output at 6,500 rpm and 400 lb.-ft. of torque available at 4,250 rpm. However, as powerful as it is, the Mustang GT is no match for the Shelby Super Snake. The numbers say it all. The now supercharged V8 engine in the Shelby Super Snake is rated to deliver 670 hp, or around 54 percent more power than on the Ford Mustang GT.

Although the Shelby GT500 Mustang offered a convertible version, it appears that the 2016 Shelby GT350 Mustang will be offered only as a coupe. According to Road&Track, an open-top version of the new Shelby GT350 was never planned as the vehicle was developed as a high-performance model that can be driven to the maximum on a racetrack.

As you may know already, if the vehicle will loose its roof, the stiffness of the body will be reduced, which means not so impressive performances. Still, we have som good news as a hotter GT350R, with upgraded brakes, tweaked aerodynamic kit, high-performance tires and more, is expected to arrive at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, in January.

We don’t know if the engine will be upgraded too, but we would be satisfied if we will receive the standard engine found on the new Shelby GT350.
