Boating-inspired Brabus Smart Fortwo Sunseeker is priced at 59,900 euros

Congested city traffic is a stark contrast to the freedom of marine navigation. But for those who want to experience lavishness in a small urban mobility package like the smart fortwo cabrio, German tuning company Brabus and luxury yacht-maker Sunseeker London Group has an enticing proposition – the new Brabus Smart ForTwo Ultimate Sunseeker Limited Edition “One of Ten.”

The new Brabus Ultimate Sunseeker Limited Edition “One of Ten” is a city sports car jointly created by the collaboration between Brabus and Sunseeker. This limited edition city car -- marking the two brand’s first joint luxury car -- was unveiled during the grand opening of their joint “KÖ90” flagship store in Königsallee 90 in Dusseldorf, Germany.

As a creation of one of the renowned tuners in the automotive world, the Brabus Ultimate Sunseeker Limited Edition “One of Ten” is provided with special sporty elements and some tuning works. Likewise, the limited edition is identified also as a creation of Sunseeker through the Sunseeker logo on the rear and the two mirror triangles as well as a nautical compass on each side of the tridion cell. Smart will launch special-edition Fortwo to celebrate 10th year in the US

This year marks the tenth anniversary of the Smart brand in the United States. The company aims to celebrate this milestone by launching a special edition 10th Anniversary Edition of the Fortwo Coupe Electric Drive sometime this year.

The Anniversary Edition will be painted in an exclusive shade of blue which they call the Sapphire Blue Metallic, while the exterior will be getting 10th Anniversary badges to give the car some accents. It will be sitting on a set of 16-inch Brabus Monoblock VII wheels, painted in Matte Anthracite Grey to give it a little contrast. Overall, we think that it has a cool colour combination, with the dark blue body and the wheels that stand out.

Most of the changes for the special edition car can be found on the exterior. Though there are changes in the cabin, they may not be as significant. And the only obvious ones include the Brabus-supplied parts for the shift knob and floor mats. Unlike the regular model, the 10th Anniversary Edition model will be getting the Sport Package as a standard. This means that it will be getting brushed stainless steel pedal covers and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

Smart Vision EQ ForTwo might be the future of car sharing

Finally, a fully electric car without steering wheels and pedals is here. Thanks to Smart as they revealed their newest concept car a few days before the 2017 Frankfurt Auto Show. Smart's concept, the Vision EQ ForTwo, focuses more on car sharing as opposed to building a personal vehicle amid the aims of big cities to manage traffic. The concept is a two-seater compact vehicle equipped with an advanced autonomous system.

Daimler's master plan by 2022 is to release 10 production electric vehicles, with the newly established EQ brand. And the Vision EQ ForTwo might be a preview of what we can expect from them. The company also said that their future electric vehicles will range in size from a compact Smart model to a large SUV that carries the Mercedes badge.

This concept actually is a reflection of Daimler’s CASE strategy they mentioned earlier, which stands for “connected, autonomous, shared and electric”. This strategy is set to take place in 2030 and beyond.

For those wondering what having a luxury lifestyle entails, it is about revealing extravagance at every chance. No wonder many car enthusiasts are intrigued with the idea of a Smart Fortwo being reimagined as a Maybach.

Done by Peisert Design, one interesting change is that the front fascia has become flashy. Another thing that perks up the interest of many fans is how the design manages to effortlessly blend the large wheels to the micro car shape of the Smart. For those who want specifics, these are the 22-inch wheels inspired by the Maybach S650. Meanwhile, the front lights and the front grille are based mainly from the Maybach 6 Concept.

Interior-wise Peisert Design used some of the features from the 2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class. An excellent example is the full-length glass infotainment system/instrument cluster. Further, fitted to it are two electric motors which drive each wheel. Finally, since it comes from a tradition of luxury, both the sides and the roof utilize carbon fiber panels.

Introducing a Smart ForTwo Cabrio tuned by high-performance Germany-based aftermarket specialist Brabus. Of course, this version is more powerful, quicker and faster than a typical model of the famed city car, and it is called the new Brabus Ultimate 125 Limited Edition.

As a city car, the Smart ForTwo Cabrio serves its purpose – a mobile unit that is small enough to navigate through busy streets and breeze through parking spaces and tight turns. Moreover, it is also large enough to comfortably accommodate two passengers.

Because of its intended usage as well as size, Smart has seen to it that it the Smart ForTwo Cabrio should be powered by a 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine or a more powerful 0.9-liter three-cylinder turbocharged unit. What happens when you fuse Renault’s Twizy and smart fortwo electric drive city cars together? One possible outcome is the Eli Zero electric city car, a creation of Eli Electric Vehicles.

Eli Electric Vehicles is all set to display its flagship product – the Eli Zero electric city car – at the 2017 iteration of the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada. At first glance, some people may confuse the Eli Zero with the Renault Twizy electric city car. Both electric city cars feature similar shapes, similar sloping roofs and similar sides. But while they may appear identical, there are quite a number of major differences between the two electric cars.

For instance, the wheels of the Renault Twizy extend outward of the body to the front end. This results to a longer wheelbase with no front overhang and a very short rear overhand. The wheels of the Eli Zero, meanwhile, are still within the length of the body, although this electric city car features very short front and rear overhangs – just like that of the smart fortwo electric drive. However, the Eli Zero is visibly shorter than the smart fortwo electric drive, with a size that is similar to the Renault Twizy.

The upcoming Frankfurt International Motor Show is the venue for the unveiling of the open-top version of the smart fortwo, which will be launched in the United States. The new fortwo cabrio is said to be three cars in one – all transformations done with a touch of a button. At its initial form, the fortwo cabrio is a closed two-seater.

However, it can be transformed into a car with a large sliding canvas sunroof. It can also be transformed into a full-fledged cabriolet with the opened soft top for an open air driving experience. These transformations have been made possible by the "tritop" folding soft top and the removable roof bars.

Also, the smart fortwo cabrio is considered to be the only true cabriolet in its vehicle class. The fortwo cabrio takes only 12 seconds to fully open at a push of a button. Even when the vehicle is being driven at top speed, it won’t take a long time before occupants could enjoy the sun.

Smart’s third-generation ForTwo model is now in the final phase of a three-year test and development program. Smart is planning to unveil the third-generation ForTwo in 2014.  The latest ForTwo hatchback represents a new chapter for Smart, which recently obtained greater independence from Daimler. Smart chief executive Annette Winkler is aiming to stop years of financial bleeding after almost a decade of rebuilding.

The third-generation ForTwo, known internally as project C453, is being developed in a joint engineering program with the second-generation ForFour and sister car third-generation Renault Twingo. All three models are based on a newly developed rear-engined/rear-wheel-drive platform structure. Its engineering is led by Smart with input from Renault.

The new platform structure, which is conceived to support different wheelbases and track widths, features more high-strength steel than that one employed in the second-generation ForTwo, providing more rigidity and improved safety.

Renault wanted to save money and manpower and so it withdrew its support for the Smart ForTwo's twin brother codenamed Project Edison, which it had been co-developing with Daimler, according to CarMagazine. This means that Daimler will have to continue with this project on its own. Renault decided to withdraw from the project because it wanted to save on resources and the project has not met its objectives since it is overweight and has gone over budget.

Another issue that may have been a factor is the choice of a gasoline engine rather than a diesel such as the current generation, resulting to a rise in the CO2 emissions level from 86g/km to 99g/km.

All the motors will use 3 cylinders, with the weakest getting an 0,9liter engine with 65hp. Meanwhile, the others get 85 and 105hp. Furthermore, the gearbox will be changed from a sequential transmission to a manual with six-speeds.

General manager of Smart USA believes that a new generation of electric car could provide the microcar brand the momentum it needs until an all-new vehicle is rolled out in 2015. Tracey Matura remarked that the third-generation of ForTwo Electric Drive car could account for around 30% of Smart's sales in the U.S. in a full year.

Newest generation of the Smart ForTwo will be rolled out in the spring with a starting price of $25,750, including shipping -- making it the least expensive electric vehicle on the market. Smart has improved the smart ForTwo’s top speed and 0-to-60 mph acceleration time, with the range significantly boosted from 63 miles to around 91 miles, Matura said.

The electric vehicle will be available as a hardtop or as a convertible for an additional $3,000. Dimensions of the third-generation ForTwo remain the same as the gasoline-powered one, which measures just 106 inches in length.
