Give your McLaren 570S Coupé, 570GT, or 570S Spider a meaner sound by installing MSO titanium exhaust

British automaker McLaren developed their MSO (McLaren Special Operations) division to make their already exclusive vehicles a little more bespoke. And today, we are going to discuss some of their newest and coolest products that indicate the company’s expertise in style and performance to the Sports Series range.

For instance, if you own a 570S Coupe, 570GT and 570S Spider, and you want to achieve a meaner sound, you can always order the new titanium exhaust. It is actually lighter than the stock unit by 11 pounds (5 kilograms). Best of all, it makes the sound it produces five decibels louder. MSO claims that the car’s new tone sounds cleaner and crisper, and that this comes from the rear end of the vehicle.

Today, the titanium exhaust runs 4,750 pounds ($6,570 at current exchange rates), and this part can be had in a Nano Black finish, instead of the standard Nano Clear colour. The good news here is that these add-ons will not only be available as an option for new cars, as later this year, MSO will be offering these as an upgrade to already existing Sports Series owners.

McLaren’s special paint Muriwai White pays homage to founder’s home

McLaren’s special department, the McLaren Special Operations (MSO) team, has created a unique colour that is a tribute to the home of the automaker’s founder, Bruce McLaren, in Surrey, England. This unique paint they call the Muriwai White has a white base with subtle hints of blue. We first saw it on the 570S Spider pictured here, but anyone can get their McLaren in this shade through MSO.

This white paint came to light with the help of Amanda McLaren, Bruce’s only child and a brand ambassador for McLaren Automotive. She worked with MSO to develop the special colour. Their family home in England was painted in white, accented with blue doors. You might be wondering where the name Muriwai originated. Well, it is a town in New Zealand, located northwest of Auckland where Bruce grew up and where he won his first hill climb at the young age of 15.

But there’s more to this story. Amanda also said during the announcement of the new paint that her mom, Patty, was at a dinner party once, and a palm reader told her that she would live in a big white house with blue doors and shutters. Following that, she said that this unique shade of white is a symbol of her father’s pride and her mother’s comfort. Her father died prematurely in 1970 at the age of 32. Now we understand what makes this unique hue so special for the McLaren family.

Yes, there is no more reason to stay at home when it’s freezing outside. British car maker McLaren and Italian tire manufacturer Pirelli have partnered in developing a winter wheel and tire bundle for McLaren’s Sports Series. What does that mean exactly?

Pirelli has optimized the tires to perform whether on rain, snow or dry conditions and these have been integrated with McLaren’s tire pressure monitoring equipment that works in conjunction with the vehicle’s onboard systems. Developed for its latest 570S Spider as well as for the 570GT, 570S and 540C, each package will include four 14–spoke forged alloy wheels in Dark Metal Grey finish plus a set of Pirelli’s MC Sottozero 3 winter tires.

McLaren 570S Spider makes its official debut

It’s finally here, the much-awaited open-air version of the McLaren 570S. Two years after McLaren launched the coupe form of the McLaren 570S, the British carmaker is now opening the order books for the new McLaren 570S Spider. As designed and engineered, the new McLaren 570S Spider is basically the same as the McLaren 570S Coupe, but without the fixed roof.

The new McLaren 570S Spider is essentially the third body style of the carmaker’s Sports Series product family (570 family), following the McLaren 570S Coupé and the McLaren 570GT. The main difference between the 570S Spider and the 570S Coupe is the fact that the open-top version comes with a retractable roof. Of course, the new 570S Spider still offers splendid levels of dynamism and refinement, coupled with supercar attributes and attitude.

As intended, the new two-seat, rear-wheel drive is provided with two-piece retractable hardtop made from lightweight composite panels. This sleek roof was engineered using the technology employed in the McLaren 650S and 675LT Spider models. Operated electrically with just a simple push of a button in the driver’s cockpit, the roof could be opened or closed in around 15 seconds, as long as the McLaren 570S Spider is travelling at speeds of up to 40 km/h (25 mph).

Before people knew it, Ferrari has already created its 50th droptop model. The Italian sports car maker unveiled its 50th droptop model and the latest member of the Special Series family – the new Ferrari 488 Pista Spider – at the highly prestigious Concours d’Elegance at Pebble Beach in California.

Earlier this year, Ferrari introduced the 488 Pista Coupe and the track-oriented Piloti 488 Pista Special Edition. The 488 Pista is the considered as the successor to Ferrari’s V8-engined Special Series – the 360 Challenge Stradale, 430 Scuderia and 458 Speciale. Now, the latest Special Series is welcoming its new member in a convertible form. The decision to unveil the new 488 Pista Spider in the United States was influenced by the fact that Ferrari’s North American clients have been keen connoisseurs of high-performance convertibles since the 1950s.

Essentially, the difference between the Coupe and the Spider versions of the Ferrari 488 Pista is that the latter features a droptop, which roof system is more complex than the fixed one. Because of increased complexity of its convertible roof, the new 488 Pista Spider is around 200 lbs (91 kg) heavier than the 488 Pista Coupe. Since both versions of the Ferrari 488 Pista are powered by the same powerplant -- a twin-turbo 3.9-liter V8 engine that delivers 720 hp of max output and 770 Nm (568 lb.-ft.) of peak torque – this difference in weight results to a very slight disparity in terms of performance.

McLaren Automotive is unveiling in metal its quickest and most powerful Sports Series model – the new McLaren 600LT -- at the 2018 Goodwood Festival of Speed. Built to dominate the race circuits and yet it is legal to be driven on the road, the new 600LT is the latest addition to McLaren’s Super Series family that already includes the McLaren 650S Coupe, 650S Spider, 675LT Coupe, 675LT Spider and 720S.

The new McLaren 600LT is effectively not only the latest Super Series model, but is also the latest McLaren to wear the Longtail (LT) badge. Taking inspiration from McLaren 675LT models and the McLaren Longtail F1 GTR racer, the new 600LT is laden with all the physical attributes of a Longtail like its longer rear diffuser, extended front splitter, fixed rear wing as well as elongated silhouette. Along with the flat carbon fiber floor, the distinct bodywork of 600LT help generate 100 kg of downforce at 250 km/h (155 mph), resulting to greater levels of grip and high-speed stability. The result is the most track-focused Super Series model from McLaren.

As expected, the new McLaren 600LT extensively employs carbon fiber. This material is used for the monocoque chassis and the new aerodynamic features. For those of you who follow news on Ferrari, we are pretty sure that you have seen the one of a kind SP38 nicknamed the “Deborah”, which simply is a 488 GTB that has gone through a number of cosmetic upgrades for it to look like a prettier coupe. But have you imagined a car like that, looking like a Spider? X-Tomi Design, and individual artist from Hungary decided to take out the car’s roof to imagine how the unique creation would look based on the 488 Spider.

The coupe’s lovely F40 inspired engine cover may be gone already, but the imaginary SP38 Spider still has everything they need to become a veritable showstopper, though there are zero chances of this to become a reality.

That’s because Ferrari has no plans of making an exact same model for another client, because the first client will probably not want a replica of his car. But instead, maybe the commissioned Deborah wants a matching Spider to go along with the Coupe. But don’t get us wrong because we are really just making up these scenarios in our minds.

The McLaren F1 is considered to be one of the most difficult models to get your hands on and it’s even more elusive now especially since its prices have gone up in excess of $10 million when being auctioned.

So instead of letting customers cry over the F1, McLaren Newport Beach decided that they would work with their special division, McLaren Special Operations to give 10 of their customers the next best thing: custom MSO X examples of the 570S Coupe with exterior inspiration from the competition livery of an F1 GTR race car.

When looking at the MSO X 570S from the outside, it is apparent that the model gets inspiration from the 570S GT4 race car, except that they are road legal. The sides of the bumpers now get dive plates, while the competition inspired hood features additional intakes.

McLaren Special Operations division (MSO) recently finished two new bespoke supercars: an MSO R Coupe, and an MSO R Spider. Both vehicles were based on the 650S and are fitted with a number of features. There’s another thing you should know: both vehicles were also made for one lucky and wealthy customer.

The coupe and the spider are among the latest projects of the MSO, and both are equipped with the same internal, external and mechanical specifications. For instance, both come with a 3.8 liter biturbo V8 that carries out 679 horsepower (506 kilowatts) and 516 pound feet (700 Newton metres) of torque. That is actually quite a big difference when you compare it to the standard 650S that produces only 641 horsepower (477 kilowatts). To give them both a unique roar, they were given a new titanium exhaust system with a crossover muffler.

To give them the overall package, both models will be given a dramatic-looking exterior, finished in a beautiful Liquid Silver paint, contrasted by a unique Delta Red pin stripe feature on both the front splitter and side blades. It has been given new elements like the MSO Visual Carbon Viber (VCF) front bumper, hood, louvered fenders, roof scoop, side mirror casing, and the rear decklid. The owner will be reminded of MSO when looking at the exterior, because of the splitter, side skirts, door sills, and rocker panels. Lastly, the coupe comes with a set of new satin black five-spoke wheels, while the spider has been fitted with five-spoke gloss black wheels.

Gazing at this beauty only reminds us how the McLaren 570S and the 720S supercar have always shared a resemblance. McLaren thoughtfully handed down its design cues to the entire range; beginning with the 650S followed by the 570S and later on, combined all of them with a bit of variations for the new 720hp model. Even so, we believe the 570GT and the 570S will continue to reign as McLaren’s true style icons. Further, did you know that by adding a small number of special body kits on a 570S, the results would be far more striking than anyone would have imagined?

Take for example, this McLaren 570S with a new set of chrome HRE Wheels. The very modest-looking twin five spoke wheels can make such big difference especially in making the car look sharper and more aggressive. Other than the variety of wheel design, the 570S can have a few other alternatives to highlight its side, front and rear profile. Aftermarket parts such as those that are made with carbon fiber, a new set of side skirts, new roof air vents, or maybe a modified rear wing and front end are available to help intensify its superb features.

As a refresher, the 570S range actually consists of three different models. There is the 570 GT, the 570 S Spider and the 570S Coupe. In all three, the S is the sportiest while the Gran Turismo is credited for providing comfort during long road trips. Despite the slight differences, these three share the same 3.8-liter twin turbo V8 engine capable of up to 562hp. Likewise, each one comes with a 7-speed dual clutch transmission to push power to the rear wheels. Having tested to run from zero to 60 miles per hour in 2.9 seconds, the S models obviously have slightly quicker acceleration than the GT albeit all three have the same 204 miles per hour top speed.

Having a full list of MSO options is certainly one of the modern miracles in the world of after-market tuning. That said, there’s a McLaren 675LT Spider with MSO upgrades currently on sale at McLaren Scottsdale. For $487,572, the 675LT Spider features Mercedes Benz’s Flintgrau Metallic paint with MSO’s front splitter, rear diffuser, rear bumper, hood and side skirts all made with carbon fiber. In addition, the airbrakes, roof and hood have been painted off with a pair of racing stripes in Cerberus Pearl.

With this many MSO options, the one listed here may not even be the highest priced McLaren 675LT but it surely is one of a kind. We say this because a whole other range of MSO upgrades could be seen throughout the exterior. For example, there’s a new set of wheels in bronze with brake calipers in signature McLaren Orange. It also boasts a satin blue carbon fiber paddle shifts and a 24 carat gold heat shield throughout the exhausts.

Inside, the MSO specced 675LT Spider comes with a unique combination of carbon black leather and Alcantra fabric with a touch of Midnight Blue to highlight the accents. To create a connection with the exterior motif, the seat belts feature the same McLaren Orange just as the one painted on the brake calipers. All in, this entire set would typically cost you more than $90,000, which we think isn’t bad for a car bearing the Speedy Kiwi “swoosh” logo to start with.

Tuner Prior Design revealed that for the McLaren 570S, it will be offering an aerodynamics kit in full carbon. Since the kit will come with a set of custom dual-spoke wheels, the tuner is also including a customized H&R suspension.

Through the PD1 aerodynamics kit, the McLaren 570S is able to get a more aggressive appearance. This is due to a combination of the side air intakes placed on the bumper in the front, side skirts with wings, side blades, fender attachments, roof scoop, and the diffuser and wing in the rear.

Tuner Prior Design revealed as well that for the interior, it will be offering an exclusive design but this is only available on request. Still, the tuner said it will go all out not only when it comes to the customization of the color but even for the materials.

Following in the footsteps of the McLaren 570S, 540C and 570GT is the newest addition to the McLaren Sports Series -- the roofless 570S Spider. McLaren 570S was rolled out in coupe form 2 years ago, and we have been waiting for a convertible Spider version ever since. Now our fantasy can be a reality, as McLaren Automotive head honcho Mike Flewitt addressed the rumors and finally confirmed that the 570S Spider will be released possibly this year.

Flewitt is still silent about the further specs of the 570S Spider, however the up-and-coming sports car convertible will be built based on the Spider versions 650 and 675LT, which have been fitted with a folding hardtop.

The new 570S Spider will be equipped with a biturbo 3.8 L V8 engine, akin to its fixed-roof equivalent. When an auto manufacturer converts a coupe into a convertible, we can't help but think about the extra weight and lessened rigidity. However, the performance hasn't changed much, as the folding roof of the 570S Spider only puts on around 88 lbs (40 kg) and will not alter the 570S Spider's acceleration record from zero to 62 miles per hour (100 km per hour).

The police in Milan are happy folks now -- a confiscated Ferrari 458 Spider was seized from a mobster in an organized crime pursuit in September of 2016, and recently reassigned to Milan's ghisa (a local term for police) by a court responsible for allocating seized goods for public use. The local police force and national brigade can request to keep the seized goods taken from the mafia.

Lucky guys. According to the local agency, they have confiscated around 29 other cars and 3 motorcycles from mobsters located in the city. But local police force commander Antonio Barbato cleared the issues surrounding the acquisition of the supercar and remarked that the public won’t see the Ferrari shred the roads accelerating straight to 200 kmh in less than 10.8 seconds in Corso Buenos Aires.

Retired Formula 1 driver Jenson Button has just received his brand new McLaren MSO 675LT Spider. This was confirmed after McLaren Beverly Hills posted a picture on its official Instagram account. There must be a sentimental reason why he chose the new MSO among other high performance cars. It must have something to do with the fact that Button drove a McLaren-Honda in last year’s F1 world championship.

There have been no reports yet on what the 2009 F1 champion plans for his immediate future. Since he has retired, it’s likely that he must’ve bought the 675LT for his own personal use and enjoyment. He had owned 12Cs and 650S in the past but this new Spider surpasses all of them when it comes to performance and price. His Longtail comes with special MSO finishing, which includes black alloy wheels with five spoke design as well as brake calipers of the same color.

Earlier reports revealed that a McLaren 675LT Spider with MSO paint would cost you an additional $60,000. That’s merely for the paint job. There is also this $12,000 color coded key fobs that come separately.

After introducing the first ever MP4-12C in the last 5 years, McLaren once again celebrates an important milestone in history. The British car manufacturer has just completed the production of its 10,000th vehicle and it’s none other than the 570S in Ceramic Grey.

This unusual shade comes from the MSO’s “Defined” bespoke color chart. Mike Flewitt their CEO, fondly recalls how they built the first half of the 10,000 units, saying that it went on for at least 42 months. As a matter of fact, the team worked extensively from McLaren’s Production Centre in England to build its 5,000th car.

Considering that time frame, who would think it would only take them 22 months to finish the second half? But they did! The “pace of development” says a lot how far the company has grown all these years. McLaren indeed has a lot to be thankful for.
