Everybody’s favourite long roof from Porsche has now been given the hybrid treatment and is now dubbed the 2018 Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo. It had recently been given an additional 136-horsepower electric motor like that of the standard Panamera E-Hybrid Turbo. It’s combined to an already powerful 4.0 liter biturbo V8 with as much as 550 horsepower. Overall, it now produces a combined output of 680 horsepower, making it the most powerful long roof out there. Let us not refer to it as a wagon or an estate since Porsche refuses to call it that. Rather, it’s referred to as the Sport Turismo.
With regards to the efficiency of the 918 hypercar’s hybrid powertrain that has been used here, it is apparently on par with the 3.0 liter version of the Panamera even if it has way more power. What makes it even more impressive is the fact that you can drive this model for as far as 31 miles on a rate of 87 miles per hour without having to use a drop of gasoline. But depending on the type of connection being used, the charging time may vary from 2.4 to 6 hours.
According to the automaker, the hybrid Sport Turismo will be able to hit 60 miles per hour in only 3.4 seconds. To be honest, it doesn’t take as fast for many people to say the full name of the car. What may be a little confusing is the fact that the automaker lists the same acceleration figure for the regular Turbo S Sport Turismo. Gold is a precious valuable metal that has come to symbolize class and timelessness. The 993 generation of the Porsche 911 – produced from 1994 to 1998 – is as classy and timeless as gold itself. Now, Porsche Classic is introducing a new 993 creation that demonstrates its full range of restoration capability and expertise – the Project Gold.
Project Gold is basically a new show car derived from the body shell of an existing 993. Other than the shell, everything else is new. Its engine is new, and most of its parts and components – including the manual transmission and all-wheel drive system -- are sourced from Porsche Classic.
Choosing the 993 as the base was pretty easy for Porsche Classic. Considered as the last air-cooled Porsche 911, the 993 is considered most desirable and most collectible of the series because of its elegant combination of greater sporty beauty and great performance that is at par even with modern sports cars. It was the first 911 to be fitted with an aluminum multilink rear suspension and has a lower-slung front section than earlier models in the series. The Panamera Sport Turismo is already an impressive car but German Tuner Techart and the Porsche specialists within the company plan to debut a special GrandGT kit for the upcoming 2018 Geneva Motor Show that is bound to enhance its appeal. After the upgrade called the GrandGT Supreme, the wagon now features an aggressive body and an opulent cabin.
Like the standard GrandGT kit, the version has a front bumper design similar to it but it comes with a hood that has a huge power bulge. The wagon now has a wider stance, thanks to the wider fenders and lower side sills. There are larger diffusers in the back that gain even larger strakes than the existing body kit. This wagon sits on new Techart Formula IV wheels, with five sets of double spokes, measuring at 22 inches.
To match the meaner look of this Sport Turismo, Techart can offer you a powertrain upgrade as well. The company’s engine upgrade can push the Panamera Turbo to have an output of 630 horsepower (470 kilowatts) and 664 pound feet (900 Newton metres) of torque. A Porsche 911 Turbo turns heads not just because of its elegantly sporty looks, but also for its spectacular performance. Now, Gemballa has created its own version of the 911 Turbo which boasts an appearance and performance that offer much more impact than a regular model. This version – the Gemballa GT Concept – has made its debut at the 2017 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas.
Gemballa is nothing new to the world of customizations. In fact, the tuning company in Germany has been involved in individualization and customization of Porsche – as well as McLaren – sports cars in more than 30 years. Its latest project shows that Gemballa still got what it takes to bring a Porsche sports car to a whole new level.
The Gemballa GT Concept is essentially a turbo version of the Porsche 911 Turbo. In its standard form, the biturbo 3.8-liter boxer engine of the 911 Turbo is tuned to generate up to 540 hp (397 kW) of output and up to 710 Nm (523 lb.-ft.) of torque. Gemballa can be a bit too outrageous when it comes to tuning Porsches, and its latest package only proves that it never ceases to surprise its clients. Speaking of which, Gemballa introduces the GTR 8XX Evo-R BiTurbo tuning kit with a high dosage 828 hp. The tuning house made this exclusively for the already powerful Turbo and Turbo S Porsche 911s and according to them, the Evo-R can accelerate in 2.3 seconds at 62 mph (100 km/h) before hitting the quarter mile in 7.5 seconds at 124 mph (200 km/h).
Overly impressed? Well, what they did to come up with such monstrosity is they added some larger valves and reinforced connecting rods to the 911’s 3.8-liter biturbo flat-six engine. The special tuning package also includes the installation of new turbochargers to provide an added boost, including an updated exhaust system and a few modifications to the intake system to handle all that extra power. To ensure that everything works accordingly, Gemballa has made some changes on the 911’s gearbox and ECUs as well.
Interested Porsche 911 owners can avail this new package for more or less $59,000 or 49,800 euros which could already afford you a brand new Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat by the way. Say, if the Hellcat packs 707 hp, and the Porsche 911 costs a little over 190,000 USD, which one would you buy instead? The package does not even include interior modifications or any upgrades for the wheels and brakes but they do offer personalization to that extent. Porsche already has the Performance Package for their range-topping Macan Turbo, which is currently available in some countries. Soon, this model will be dethroned by something even fancier by the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur department at their Leipzig factory. This Porsche Macan Turbo Exclusive Performance Edition has been fitted with all the hardware bits you can think of that the automaker can cram into the performance SUV.
Starting off with the exterior, the SUV sits on a set of 21-inch 911 Turbo Design wheels with glossy black lateral spokes for extra flair. The package comes standard with front and rear LED lights, as well as the accents on the front spoiler, side blades, and rear apron, all in Carmine Red. To match all this, the Macan Turbo lettering gets the same hue of red, contrasting the blacked out “Porsche” badge.

The Porsche Panamera sporty sedan offers a dynamic drive and comfortable ride, with the capability to accommodate up to four occupants. While the Porsche Panamera is a healthy proposition for North American drivers who wanted a performance-laden sedan, it does discourage potential customers looking for a sedan that could to ferry up to five occupants at a time.
Now Porsche is looking forward to win back those customers in the United States. Klaus Zellmer, chief executive of Porsche Cars North America, told Automotive News at the Frankfurt Motor Show that the German sports car maker is making available an optional rear bench. With this option, the Porsche Panamera sedan could accommodate five occupants, instead of the usual four. However, the bench option would be made available next year, so for now, Panamera sedan customers would have to settle for the four-seater.
As designed, the Porsche Panamera sedan carries two occupants on the front (driver and front passenger) and another two on the rear cabin (individually seated rear passengers). The individual seats on the front are separated by a center console, and so are the individual seats on the rear. Around two weeks after Porsche unveiled the third generation of the Porsche Cayenne in Stuttgart, Germany, the sports car maker has taken the wraps off the turbo version of the sporty mid-sized SUV around 140 miles to the north in Frankfurt – the new 2019 Porsche Cayenne Turbo.
Simply speaking, the new generation of the Cayenne Turbo is Porsche’s mid-sized SUV on steroids. Compared to the next-gen Cayenne and Cayenne that were recently unveiled, the Cayenne Turbo represents a big boost in power. The 2019 Cayenne is powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine delivering 340 horsepower of max output and 332 pound-feet of torque, allowing the base Porsche mid-size SUV to sprint from zero to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds.
The Cayenne S, meanwhile, employs a bi-turbo 2.9-liter V6 mill delivering up to 440 hp of output and up to 406 lb.-ft. of torque – good for a 0-100 km/h dash of 4.9 seconds. Porsche introduces the technologically advanced wheels with braided carbon fiber. These will be initially available on the 911 Turbo S Exclusive Series. Being the first car manufacturer to offer such innovation, the wheels will come with a massive sticker price of 15,232 Euros (or $17,970 after the current exchange rates).
Braided carbon wheels are made from CFRP (carbon fiber reinforced polymer) which is an extremely lightweight material that’s optimized absolutely for the absorption of longitudinal and lateral forces. It is also said to be 20% lighter and 20% stronger than regular alloy wheels. Besides trailing the road more efficiently due to lesser unsprung weight, the lower rotating masses would also mean spontaneous braking and acceleration. These would all result to more pleasurable driving plus better driving dynamics.
Porsche uses its massive carbon fiber braiding machine that has a measurement of 9 meters in diameter to cut and assemble more than 200 individual parts of the wheel. After the assembly, the wheel is pre-impregnated with a certain type of resin and baked using high levels of pressure and temperature. The range topping Macan has a combination of black, red, white and silver. But we would say that it is a safe livery to use on the model, and it would be great if Porsche could use wilder colours like Jägermeister's burnt orange shade or the famous Gulf design.
The Macan Turbo already performs well, but this can even be upgraded with the Performance Pack, making it the hottest variant among crossovers out there. The first time Porsche revealed the Panamera Sport Turismo to the public was during the 2017 Geneva Motor Show earlier this year. And now it has already entered production, and is on its way to its first customers all over the globe. The Leipzig facility was produced especially for the second-generation Panamera family, and Porsche had to invest a total of €500 million ($582 million), a part of which was used to build a new quality center.
The new 400-hectare facility is also in charge of the production of the Macan and Cayenne SUVs, apart from the Panameras. There are 4,055 people who are working in the facility and in the last year alone, they produced a total of 158,432 cars. The Leipzig facility opened in August 2002 and already €1.3 billion ($1.5M) have been invested.
Within the facility, 345,345 square meters cover the production area. To date, the Leipzig factory has 948 robots in the body shop, paint shop, and in the assembly facility, where they build 1.7 million parts each day. There is a wood chip burning system that provides 80% CO2-neutral heat to the paint shop. Outside the production area, there is a 3.7-kilometer race track and a 6-kilometer off-road track. In terms of wildlife, 75 aurochs, 1.5 million bees, and wild horses live in the area. Earlier this month, Porsche introduced to us the 911 Turbo S Exclusive Series. The car wore a Golden Yellow Metallic paint. The same time it was launched, the company said to interviewers that a “range of other carefully selected exterior colours” will be offered for the same model.
They did not mention when the new shades will be revealed, but the company has just shared photos of the special edition 911 Turbo S in other liveries. The most eye-catching of them all would probably still be the one in gold, but the other two, in gray and in white, are also looking good. All three models have matching accents - that is a pair of carbon strips on the front hood and the roof.
The company ensures that the Exclusive Series looks distinct from the standard Turbo S, by adding more carbon fiber accents all over. Silverstone Auctions revealed that its May Sale raked in a total of £3.6 million with its sales rate at 72%. In fact, the highest value breached the half million mark with the 1993 Porsche 911 (964) Turbo S Leichtbau being sold for £556,875, which is £81,000 higher than that of the lower estimate.
This is the same model that made the auction all the more exciting as it was the site of a strong bidding war. Tension became high when the bidding was eventually brought down to two. The air was also full of excitement as the two bidders initially were so bold and didn’t want to give up the vehicle. It eventually ended when the price reached more than half a million.

TechArt’s latest project, the Porsche 911 Turbo itself, is a pretty awesome car to own. And it’s not only because of its powerful engine, and beautiful exterior design. However, some people just can’t get enough of what is already in the market. What do I mean by that? The German automobile tuner came up with an even more extravagant design, sans roof, calling this version the GTstreet R Cabriolet.
Some of the highlights of this car in terms of performance are its powerful engine with the capacity to deliver 720 horsepower (or 530 kilowatts) and 678 pound feet torque, allowing it to accelerate from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in a mind-blowing 3.5 seconds, while proceeding to its maximum speed of 340 kilometers per hour (211 mph) -- that is even faster than a 911 Turbo.
