Next-generation Audi RS3 Sportback will stick to the 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine

Although we expected a 2.0-liter TFSI for the next-generation Audi RS3 Sportback, it appears that the German company decided to keep the 2.5-liter five-cylinder powerplant used by the current engine. Based on the MQB platform, the new RS3 Sportback will be 55 kg lighter and will use reengineered springs and dampers.

Moreover, the new sports car will be 25 mm closer to the ground when compared with the S3 and will arrive with a wider track and optional wider front tires. According to Quattro boss Stephan Reil, the 2.5-liter engine will deliver around 360 hp and power will be delivered through a permanent all-wheel drive system through the standard seven-speed S tronic transmission.

As a result, the new RS3 will be capable to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in around 4.0 seconds. For those who don’t know, the current Audi RS3 Sportback uses the 2.5-liter TFSI four-cylinder engine that generates 340 hp (250 kW) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque.

2019 Audi RS5 Sportback brings aggressive look and 444 hp engine to New York

It has been quite a long wait for the 2019 Audi RS5 Sportback. For a time, all we’ve had to look at was its placeholder, the RS5 Coupe, which is now available throughout dealerships in the United States. Now, we have finally seen the larger and more sophisticated version of the said model, and it is stunning.

Physically, the RS5 Sportback model stretches out a little more compared to the standard coupe. The hips have been made wider by over half an inch (15 millimeters) on each side, and it has also been made lower by .28 inches (7 millimeters) making it sit closer to the ground. What finishes off the look would be the bigger wheels (of either the standard 19 inches, or the 20 inch wheels that come as an option) and larger air intakes.

Overall, the RS5 Hatchback looks a bit more aggressive than the average coupe. Customers could get the Sportback in any of the Gloss Black, Carbon, and Matte Aluminum optic packages.

Audi’s US lineup will include RS5 Sportback and Coupe

Scott Keogh, President of Audi of America, said in his interview with Roadshow that the United States market will again be able to get their hands on a RS5 Sportback that will soon join the RS5 Coupe. It took a while for the automaker to mention the existence of a range-topping variant of the stylish four door. Information on its availability in different regions has also not been divulged yet.

But that is not all. In fact, Keogh mentioned that they have another surprise that they are working on, though he stopped himself from saying further and did not reveal what it was. Instead, he teased us by saying that there is a cool European model that they have not brought in to the United States just yet, and that he considers it to be his number one car, and they perhaps they will get it. But to date, he did not confirm any of these reports.

If you analyze what Keogh said even further, there are a number of possibilities for this. Keogh could be referring to an RS4 Avant, depending on the timeframe he has in mind. That is because the said model is already ready right now and that it only needs an executive to sign off so it could already be added to the US lineup. The only problem here is that it might take 25 more years for this model to become eligible for US import.

Mercedes-Benz’ new MBUX infotainment system will debut in next-gen A-Class

The 2018 Consumer Electric Show is full of exciting new technology for everyone, including the automotive industry. One of the most anticipated is the unveiling of the Linux-based MBUX that promised to bring a “revolution in the cockpit.”

Expect to see this infotainment system in upcoming compact models starting off with the next-generation Mercedes-Benz A-Class hatchback. A camouflaged near-production prototype of the five-door model is currently in Las Vegas at the CES. This won’t be offered in the United States but then, the sedan version will make it to the country soon enough.

We will be giving you all the details you will need to know about the infotainment system, starting off with the seven-inch instrument cluster with a touchscreen of the same size that can be found on the A-Class. For the higher trim, the touchscreen gets an upgrade to a 10.25-inch version. Meanwhile, the top trim gets a dual 10.25 inch setup.

The next generation of the Jeep Wrangler (JL) is being touted by the brand as having more power, more features and more off-road ability than the previous JK generation. To back up its claims, Jeep laid down the specs and numbers for the 2018 Jeep Wrangler as the off-road specialist is unveiled at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show.

Jeep will be commencing sales of the new 2018 Wrangler in the first quarter of next year. The very capable SUV will be available either as a two-door or four-door model. Customers have three trims to choose from: Sport, Sahara and the most off-road focused Rubicon. There are three top designs offered for new Wrangler: hardtop with a longer “gutter” and lighter removable “Freedom Top” panels; updated convertible top; and the new powered soft top that works like a canvas sunroof.

In terms of power source, three engines are available. One of these is a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine that offers up to 285 hp (209 kW) of output at 6,400 rpm and up to 260 lb.-ft. (353 Nm) of torque at 4,800 rpm. This engine is standard on all models of the 2018 Wrangler. Meanwhile, optional on all models of the new generation Wrangler is the 2.0-liter Turbo I-4 engine that could deliver 270 hp (200 kW) of max output at 5,250 rpm and 295 lb.-ft. (400 Nm) of peak torque at 3,000 rpm. Only available to four-door models of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler is the 3.0-liter Ecodiesel V-6 that generates 260 hp of max output and 442 lb-ft of peak torque as mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission (850RE).

The Audi RS5 Coupe is a real stunner with its athletic looks and sporty performance. Regarded as a Gran Turismo among RS models by Audi Sport’s chief executive, the Audi RS5 Coupe offers 450 hp (336 kW) of max output and a 442 lb.-ft. (600 Nm) of peak torque, as derived from a 2.9 liter bi-turbo V6 engine. Getting a top-down version of the Audi RS5 Coupe is out of the question for now, but the good guys at ABT Sportsline are willing to offer a beefed up variant of the Audi S5 Cabriolet.

It is not exactly the RS5 Cabriolet, but ABT Sportsline’s creation is close – the ABT S5 Cabriolet. The most fundamental change made for the S5 Cabriolet is its power rating. As standard, a typical Audi S5 Cabriolet is powered by a 3.0-liter V6 turbo engine that could deliver 354 hp (260 kW) of max output and 500 Nm of peak torque.

That’s nowhere close to the power rating of the dynamic mill inside the RS5 Cabriolet. However, the German tuner’s ABT Engine Control (AEC) made this already powerful engine become more dynamic, with the output and torque levels surging to 425 hp (313 kW) and 550 Nm, respectively. ABT Sportsline is also making this power tweak available for other body variants of the Audi S5.

Jeep isn't finished teasing the all-new next-generation Jeep Wrangler. In the build-up to the eventual official unveiling of the new 2018 Wrangler at the upcoming 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show, Jeep has released more images of the next-generation sports utility vehicle.

While the first three images released for the new 2018 Jeep Wrangler showed the exterior appearance of the SUV, the latest set presents its interior. Likewise, the central infotainment screen is now more prominent, with its knobs and dials all restyled. Furthermore, the instrument cluster of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler now features a small screen.

Jeep did not warn us that they will be releasing the 2018 Wrangler soon, but surprisingly, it made an unexpected online debut on November 1st at the SEMA show in Vegas. This off-roader has been highly anticipated, and finally, here it is. It features a light evolution, as well as some added modern equipment. Also, thanks to details that have been leaked on the Jeep website, we already know how much it will cost.

If you go and check out the images, you can get the four door 2018 Wrangler Unlimited Sport JLU in the United States for $30,445, plus and extra $995 for delivery. This model will still be Jeep’s entry-level four-door, and you guys may notice a little price increase ($2,550) over the 2017 model. On the other hand, the 2018 Sport JKU will still have an asking price of $27,895 just like the older model.

Another leaked list shows the whole lineup of Jeep models including the three trim levels and options that will be available. The document states that the base Sport model will not come with standard air conditioning. However, it will come standard with features like three separate tow hooks, electronic stability control, tinted glass, a fuel tank skid plate, hill start assist, and a five-inch Uconnect Infotainment system. Of course, expect the higher models like the Rubicon and the Sahara to gain more features such as power heated mirrors, and remote keyless entry.

Last week, Audi’s luxury sportback, the 2019 Audi A7 made its debut. It isn’t only sleeker than its predecessor, but it is overall more refined too. After making its first public appearance, A7 fans quickly got to work and began rendering the said model, giving it even more performance cues. One of the renderings we noticed was that of a German artist named Tobias Büttner. Digitally, he gave the new A7 added RS performance pieces and it looks pretty mean.

Beginning with the front fascia, the new angular grille has been upgraded into an RS performance part. The standard base model comes with vertical slats, which have been changed into a honeycomb-style plastic mesh, the same with the side vents too. The front fender now gets a “Quattro” logo that’s displayed on the front fender, while the RS badge can be found on the grille.

As you can see in the photos, the 2019 Audi A7 rides on a new set of wheels that has been borrowed from the RS5 Sportback. The rear now has a more aggressive diffuser that has been given massive dual exhaust tips. To cap off the exterior look, the car has been lowered, and has also been finished in Audi’s signature Nogaro Blue paint job - making it look sportier than the standard model. The package may not look very dramatic overall, but it looks like it is ready for production.

Barely a month before Jeep officially unveils the all-new next-generation Jeep Wrangler at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show, the carmaker released three official images of the capable SUV. These images are just teasers, but show the new Jeep Wrangler in its full glory before the LA Auto Show.

According to Jeep, the 2018 Wrangler is the most capable SUV so far, with an ability to deliver the superior 4x4 capability that Jeep vehicles are known. After all, the new Wrangler is expected to feature the latest, most advanced version of Jeep's vaunted four-wheel-drive system, allowing the SUV to remain the king of the off-road world.

The next generation of the Jeep Wrangler will also be available with advanced fuel-efficient powertrains, and will be laden with more safety features and advanced technology. There were no details about these powertrains, but there have been rumours the new Wrangler could be powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder engine or a turbodiesel mill. An updated version of the 3.6-liter V6 engine employed in the current Wrangler is rumored to be included in the powertrain options, as paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Electrified hybrid variants of the new Wrangler are also expected to be offered.

By studying today’s trend, one would notice that crossovers and small pickup trucks are what most people are looking for, and to step up its game, Mazda decided that they would develop a new version of their longstanding BT-50 pickup. According to the automaker, the next generation pickup will still share the same platform as that of the Isuzu D-Max, just like its outgoing model. But even though it has the same mechanics as the Isuzu, the design will entirely be unique to Mazda.

In an interview between WheelsMag and Ikuo Maeda, Managing Executive Officer and Head of Design, the latter confirmed that a new BT-50 is being developed. He also said that they will face a challenge by converting the Mazda’s current design direction to a much smaller pickup truck.

Speaking of the design, Mazda said that their goal for the next generation pickup is to create a beautiful form that has tougher elements to give it some masculinity as well - after saying that it will be a tough job. Also, he mentioned that the pickup will get inspiration from the Vision Coupe and the Kai concept, both of which appeared at the recent Tokyo Motor Show a week ago.

The Audi A7 Sportback, whether you would like to call it a sportback or a four-door coupe, has always been a beautiful car. And this week, the 2019 model year will be debuting in Germany with an even more striking appearance since we first saw it seven years ago.

Beginning with numbers, it is a bit shorter than its predecessor at 195.6 inches long, and is now only 55.9 tall, so it appears to sit closer to the ground. Unlike the A8, it has a wider face and a lower grille, giving it a sportier appearance. The hood now has lines that lead to the broader front fenders. Like its predecessor, it has got a sleek roof that seamlessly plunges toward a pop-up spoiler. As for the trunk capacity, there is 18.9 cubic feet of storage that can be maximized to 49.1 cubic feet when the seats are folded down. The rear end gets one full-width tail light that stretches from one end to another, and is made up of 13 individual LED strips that varies in height across the width of the trunklid. Customers will be able to get wheels as large as 21 inches in diameter.

With a stylish exterior comes with a stylish cabin as well. It is light and airy with plenty of horizontal lines up the dashboard and door panels. In fact, the 2019 A7’s interior resembles that of the new A8. Despite its shorter length, passengers get an increase in headroom as well as rear knee space, thanks to the extra 0.8 inch interior length. A7 buyers will be able to choose from a five-place or a 2+2 seating option.

While the official premiere of 2018 Jeep Wrangler (JL/JLU) is already set this December, fans everywhere rejoiced at having had something like this appear on the web. Yes, everything we need to learn about the 2018 Jeep Wrangler is now accessible thanks to the leaked owner’s manual and user guide posted at the JL Wrangler Forums website. You can find everything from technical specs, operation, down to the interior. The PDF files practically contain all the information about the new Wrangler. It’s pretty overwhelming so we kind of don’t know where to start but allow us to share the juiciest parts anyway.

For starters, why don’t we talk about the engine. The leaked owner’s manual reveals that the 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL will have two powertrain options---one is a 3.6-liter V6 hybrid while the other is a 2.0-liter turbo hybrid gas /electric powertrain. The recommended fuel is 91 octane for the 2.0L (Hurricane) turbo and 87 octane for the 3.6 L V6 (Pentastar) which comes with a manual transmission.

It also seems that the next generation Wrangler has been equipped with all the latest features for safety, luxury and convenience that normally come with a premium model. Likewise, the new Wrangler is offered with the same off-road capability that has been known to brand, with nearly the same payload and towing capacity as the previous Jeeps. Meaning, the JLU can tow up to 3,500 pounds (1,587 kg) maximum, while the two-door Jeep has a maximum towing of 2,000lbs (907kg).

We are all aware that Audi has plans to reveal the 2018 A7 Sportback soon, specifically towards the end of the year. Though we expected a grand reveal and a full-sized vehicle, we were surprised by something much smaller - that is, a die cast scale model of the Sportback.

What just happened? Well, Autoweek.nl has leaked an image of the A7 Sportback, except it isn’t the real car. Rather, it is a scale model, which makes it much smaller than what all of us expected to see. Of course, this can’t beat the awesomeness of the real model. In earlier spy shots, the A7 and S7 will have a design that mixes together elements from the first-generation car combined with the Prologue series of concept cars.

Though the leaked image just shows a scale model, we could still kind of tell how the A7 Sportback will look. The A7’s face resembles that of the A8, and we already know that based on the spy shots we have seen before. What’s new is the fact that the scale model shows us a more sculpted hood and more body lines. The A7 has a wider single-frame grille, thin headlights backed with an array of LEDs, and more glass on the sides.

According to Japanese website Car Sensor, Mazda recently claimed that they might borrow a platform from Toyota, which they will use for the next generation Mazda6, so this can be given a rear-wheel drive option. But to make things even better, the chassis might underpin the production version of the RX-Vision concept as well.

As part of the move up market, the Japanese automaker will give the Mazda6 the rear wheel drive they are planning. But they will also change the design so it features a long nose and shorter front overhang, giving the sedan a more upscale look. As for the engine, the fourth generation Mazda6 will probably share the company’s Skyactiv X spark controlled compression engine, including the mild-hybrid system believed to be of the 48-volt flavour.

What’s very important for Mazda’s plan is to make sure that they continue to have a good relationship with Toyota. Currently, both automakers have entered a collaboration and they are developing a factory in the United States. They have also been sharing some commercial vehicles in Japan. Furthermore, both companies admit that sharing future platforms would be possible. The future Mazda6’s rear drive chassis will likely be the same as the future generation Lexus IS and GS, says Car Sensor.

What happens when an auto company finds that a certain offering is not selling enough to make a good business case? Continuing to build and sell such vehicle would only be counterproductive, thus, stopping its production could be a good decision. That might the case for the Audi A3 three-door hatchback, which according to a report by Autocar, would be dropped in the coming years.

The fourth generation of the Audi A3 family is due to arrive sometime in 2019, ushering a new era for the German premium carmaker’s small family car. However, it seems that Audi is not bent on giving the A3 three-door hatchback another crack for glory, AutoCar reports, citing sources privy with what goes on inside the luxury carmaker.

As per the British auto publication, Audi officials have indicated that the dropping of the A3 three-door hatchback is part of the carmaker’s model consolidation program. It added that the program was prompted as part of the cost-cutting measures needed to ensure that there are enough funds for fixing the Volkswagen Group’s Dieselgate scandal. Simply put, its continued decline in terms of sales means that there is no more business-related reasons for the auto company to allow the A3 three-door hatchback to live on through the next generation.

Audi currently does not have any fully electric model that they can call their own after the R8 E-Tron has been discontinued last year. But this year, they showed us concepts of the E-Tron Quattro and the E-Tron Sportback (at Auto Shanghai), and the good news is that the zero-emissions SUV will finally begin production at their Brussels, Belgium factory. The SUV will then be followed by its sleeker counterpart, the Sportback, in 2019.

What sets the E-Tron Sportback apart from the others is the fact that it is a “four-door gran turismo”, with a powertrain of 430 horsepower (320 kilowatts) at standard, and an impressive 496 horsepower (370 kilowatts) when the boost mode is activated. In just four and a half seconds, it can hit 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour). That’s very impressive for a full electric vehicle, but we shouldn’t be too excited until the production model has been tested, and that’s a long while from now.

In today’s world, there is this thing we call “range anxiety”. It simply refers to the stress or anxiety that people who own EVs get, knowing that their car runs on battery power, and that it can simply shut off when the battery gets drained. So the issue is whether they would get to their destination before they’ll have to recharge their vehicles, especially for long distance drives.

The largest gathering of Volkswagen and Audi cars in Europe is underway, and the German premium carmaker is displaying the third model of its G-Tron range at the 2017 Worthersee Meeting wrapped in special finish and with apparent aesthetic tweaks.

Audi unveiled the production version of the new Audi A5 Sportback G-Tron at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show in March. Before the model’s eventual introduction to the market in early summer, Audi is making sure that the new G-Tron car gains more attention from the public by showcasing a one-off variant at the Worthersee Meeting.

The A5 Sportback G-Tron at Worthersee sports a customized two-tone exterior to make it more appealing. However, it isn’t a fully modified unit, unlike the VW GTI First Decade concept that is also being displayed at the event. Around two-thirds – starting from the front end -- of the exterior of this one-off A5 Sportback G-Tron is wrapped in dark grey finish. It then blends with a honeycomb blue finish on the rear side doors. This finish completely dominates the rear end of the one-off A5 Sportback G-Tron.

A couple of days ago, Audi announced an update in terms of the pricing of their 2018 lineup. With the price increase, several models will have more features as standard equipment while there will be more models that will have sportier interior and exterior design packages.

The Audi A3 Sportback E-Tron had always been a successful model since it was first released in the United States. Sales charts of the said model from January 2016 up until March this year indicate that the model is doing well. In fact, the model made up around 13 percent of all Audi A3 sales in its first eight months, and by last December, the percentage went up to 20 percent.

The 2017 model was first sold with a price tag of $37,900, and it soon increased to $38,900. And naturally, there will be a price increase for the 2018 year model, with the Premium trim at $39,500, the Premium Plus at $42,600, and $48,100 for the range-topping Prestige. That is about $600 to $1,300 more than the previous model.

BMW has yet to officially take the wraps off the next generation of the BMW M5 high performance sporty sedan, but it has already dropped a number of juicy details that would surely make interested customers, fans and enthusiasts salivate.

First and foremost, the sixth generation of the BMW M5 will be the first BMW unit to feature the M xDrive system, a groundbreaking all-wheel drive technology that allows four-wheel drive vehicles to be as sporty as their rear-wheel drive counterparts.

Specifically, the new BMW M5 is an all-wheel drive sporty sedan as a default, but its drivetrain features a rear-biased setup. This means that the twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 engine of the next generation BMW M5 (F90) sends power – through an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission – to the rear wheels most of the time. But when the system detects that the rear wheels transmit less or no power to the road and there is a need for more traction, the M xDrive would make it possible to send power to the front wheels as well. This transforms the new BMW M5 into a true all-wheel drive sports sedan. Since this capability is adaptive and makes use of predictive technology, the sixth generation of the BMW M5 is able to employ different drive configurations for various driving conditions.
