Project Wami is a Maserati-inspired retro-roadster in development from Ares Design

Modena, Italy-based Ares Design is relatively a new company in the field of bespoke automotive design and modifications. But in the short time, Ares Design has demonstrated its capability of creating high-quality coach-built cars. Now, it is out to prove that once again, it can convert almost any vehicle into a bespoke creation through the new Project Wami.

Project Wami is Ares Design’s latest work, with the promise of becoming one of the most enticing roadsters ever made. However, there is yet no actual, final product at sight – the roadster has yet to exist. According to Ares Design, project is currently in its development stage. Nonetheless, based from the images released by the Italian tuning company, the Project Wami roadster looks gorgeous and holds a lot of promise.

Since there is actual car yet, the images of the Project Wami roadster released by Ares Design were just renderings. These are rendered images of how the final version of the Project Wami roadster would look like when it springs to life and take on the road.

Even family members and friends constantly remind us to drive safe and to always practice defensive driving. But then there are daredevil wannabes and well, drivers who itch for the accelerator. We’ve all seen how these reckless drivers (and poor, unsuspecting passersby) end up through videos and footages, and it just doesn’t do the trick to scare them off.

One man in Singapore thought it would be cool to show off his driving skills behind his Lamborghini Huracan Spyder. C’mon guys, it’s a freakin’ Lamborghini Huracan Spyder with such monstrous power hidden underneath its hood. However, this man’s mistake was showing off at the wrong place – a public road. Sure, we’d be happy to see how a Huracan Spyder can fair off in a public road, but putting other lives in danger is a big no-no.

The 45-year old was caught squeezing in between a car and a van and traveling at very high speeds. The car had a dashcam which caught the whole incident, the video immediately posted it on Facebook. It took only a split second for the Huracan Spyder to evade possible mishap and danger for both the van and the other car.

Porsche to add a new model slotted between the 911 and 918 Spyder

We have great news for all the Porsche fans out there: firm’s boss Matthias Muller has just announced that the manufacturer is considering a new model that could be slotted between the 911 and the 918 Spyder.

Porsche already announced that it will build a smaller baby-Cayenne dubbed Cajun, which will be based on the Audi Q5 crossover, and sources confirmed the fact that the design of this car is already completed.

Apparently, the Porsche Cajun will be built as a two-door in the first years of production and will take on the 2012 Range Rover Evoque.

2009 Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Spyder: full details and specs

Having been on the market since the early part of 2008, the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4, as the successor to the most successful Lamborghini of all-time, since 2003, has produced in excess of 8,500 units from its production facility in Sant'Agata Bolognese. The Gallardo Spyder in the current generation represents automotive passion at its highest.

To rival the Audi R8, BMW is planning to build a two-seater roadster that will carry the Z9 badge, according to a report from Auto Express. This roadster will replace the Z8 which stopped production in 2003. The Z9 will be BMW's flagship supercar, a glamorous model that will compete with the likes of the R8 and Mercedes SLS. 

This model actually was first seen at 2005 Los Angeles Motor Show as the California Spyder concept, a sleek, low-slung drop-top with carbonfiber bodywork and a 700bhp BMW F1 engine, which revved to 17,000rpm. The Z9 got the approval from BMW's top management to go into production; however, it will be offered with conventional powerplants.

Plans for the California Spyder were suspended in 2007 due to the economic downturn, which also led to BMW withdrawing its participation from Formula One. The plans have been revived with the improvement in the economy.

Ferrari and its beloved V8 engine have a lot of history together. This is the same engine that powers the Ferrari 488 GTB (Gran Turismo Berlinetta). Now, Ferrari has unveiled at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show a new two-seater berlinetta that pays homage to its most powerful V8 mill so far – the new Ferrari F8 Tributo.

As it names clearly indicates, the Ferrari F8 Tributo is a tribute to its award-winning V8 engine. For three years in a row – 2016, 2017 and 2018 – Ferrari’s 3,902-cc V8 engine grabbed the “Best Engine” accolade in the International Engine of the Year awards. It was also named as the best engine of the last two decades in 2018.

In the Ferrari 488 GTB, which was unveiled four years ago at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, this 3,902 cc V8 turbocharged engine delivers an astonishing 670 cv of max output at 8,000 rpm and 760 Nm of peak torque in the seventh gear. This amount of power is sent to the rear wheels via a revised seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox derived from 458 Italia. This allows the 488 GTB to sprint from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.0 seconds, to 200 km/h (124 mph) in 8.3 seconds, and achieve a top speed of 330 km/h or 205 mph.

German carmaker Volkswagen is now making the latest evolution of the new Volkswagen Golf GTI -- the new Golf GTI TCR. First unveiled as a concept at the annual GTI meeting in Worthersee, Austria, the new Golf GTI TCR is touted to be the most hardcore, most powerful and the fastest Golf GTI ever. Interested customers in Germany can now order the new Golf GTI TCR at a starting price of EUR38,950 (around $44,356) including VAT.

The new Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR is basically the street going version of the same-named racing car that won the international TCR racing series two times. It is powered by a version of the carmaker’s 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that is tuned to deliver up to 286 hp (213 kW) of max output. Power is sent to the wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission – the only option -- with a limited-slip front differential.

With this amount of power, the new Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR is capable of sprinting from nil to 62 miles per hour (100 km/h) in just 5.6 seconds, on its way to a limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). However, when a customer avails of a certain option (Vmax), the Golf GTI TCR can go as fast as 162 mph (260 km/h).

After VIN registrations revealed months ago that Porsche was planning a new 718 Cayman T, new details have surfaced that about the hardcore model. According to a report by Auto Express, the German sports carmaker has almost completed the new lightweight Porsche 718 Cayman T and is now putting the finishing touches on this new hardcore model.

As reported by Auto Express, the new Porsche 718 Cayman T will served as a follow-up to the recently released 911 T as its smaller sibling. The new 718 Cayman T will be much lighter than the 718 Cayman, as made possible by employing a number of weight saving features like thinner glass, fabric door pulls and sports seats. In addition, the 718 Cayman T has seen its audio system removed from its cabin.

Overall, the 718 Cayman T would be around 20 kg lighter – in terms of kerbweight -- than the 718 Cayman. The VIN listings uncovered in July show that the 718 Cayman T will have a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of 3,649 lbs(1,655 kg), which is lighter than a manual-transmission Cayman S (3,670 lbs or 1,665 kg).

Following the global debut of the new Audi R8 LMS GT3 at the 2018 Paris Motor Show, the German premium carmaker is introducing the new Audi R8. The refreshed version of the Audi R8 boasts of a sharper look and better performance made possible by more powerful V10 engines and a modified suspension system.

As part of the upgrade of the new Audi R8, the premium carmaker is implementing a change in designation. From now on, the Audi R8 Coupé V10 and R8 Spyder V10 will be known as the Audi R8 Coupé V10 quattro and R8 Spyder V10 quattro. On the other hand, the Audi R8 Coupé and R8 Spyder V10 plus will be designated as Audi R8 Coupé performance Quattro and R8 Spyder V10 performance quattro. Audi plans to commence sales of the new R8 in the first quarter of 2019 in Germany and other markets in Europe.

Under the hood of the Audi R8 V10 quattro is a V10 naturally aspirated engine that has powered up by 22 kW (30 hp) and 10 Nm (7.4 lb.-ft.) to 419 kW (570 hp) of max output and 550 Nm (405.7 lb.-ft.) of peak torque. This allows the Audi R8 Coupe V10 quattro to sprint from zero to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in just 3.4 seconds and the R8 Coupe V10 quattro in 3.5 seconds. Top speeds are 324km/h (201.3 mph) for the Coupe and 322 km/h (200.1 mph) for the Spyder.

More than a year after introducing the widely acclaimed ATS GT prototype at the at the luxurious Salon Privé exhibit, Automobili Turismo e Sport (ATS) has finally presented the final and production version of the supercar – the new ATS GT Launch Edition -- at the prestigious 2018 Monterey Car Week at The Quail.

The ATS GT Launch Edition takes inspiration from the 1964 ATS 2500 GT, a small coupe designed by Franco Scaglione, developed by ATS co-founders Giotto Bizzarrini and Carlo Chiti, and built more than 50 years ago. Back then, ATS only built 12 examples of the 2500 GT. As it seeks to honor the original model, ATS is also building 12 examples of the new GT Launch Edition.

Designed by ATS chief designer Emanuele Bomboi, the new ATS GT Launch Edition boasts of an aerodynamic bodywork -- made of carbon fiber – that reinterprets the original design of the 2500 GT. It features unique side-blades and seemingly floating rear lights. These rear lights are designed to extract the hot air from the engine bay. The GT Launch Edition makes use of the company’s Sistema-Trio hand-welded titanium with mufflers.

The only hybrids that automotive customers can get now from Porsche are its Panamera four-door saloon and its Cayenne sports utility vehicle. While the German sports car maker has confirmed that it would build a hybrid version of the Porsche 911 sports car, that won't happen in the near term. For those who can’t wait for Porsche to offer a 911 hybrid, Vonnen Performance is offering to convert your sports car into one.

Porsche’s main reason for not offering a hybrid version of the 911 is that the German company still doesn’t believe that the current battery technology is on par with its expectations for its venerated sports car. But with the rapid pace that the battery technology is growing, that could happen in the next few years. Porsche chief executive Oliver Blume had said that a 911 hybrid may arrive on the mid-cycle refresh of the 992 generation, which should happen by around 2022 or so.

Because Porsche won't do a 911 hybrid now, Vonnen Performance is offering to do so for 911 models built between 2012 and 2016. This also applies for other Porsche offerings currently not having a hybrid version, like the Boxster and the Cayman. The conversion kit and the entire setup would cost a Porsche owner around $75,000.

The new Ferrari Monza SP1 and SP2 are the first models in a new concept of limited-edition special series dubbed as ‘Icona,’ as inspired by the carmaker’s iconic and legendary cars. The Monza SP1 and SP2 essentially blend the evocative design of Ferrari cars in the 1950s and the most advanced technology found in modern sports cars. BMW M GmbH is getting things all hyped up leading to the impending launch of its BMW X3 M sports activity vehicle and the BMW X4 M sports activity coupe. The official presentation of the new BMW X3 M and BMW X4 M, which series development has already been kicked off, took place during the DTM racing weekend at the Nrburgring (September 7 to 9, 2018). During the official presentation, BMW M had prototypes of the BMW X3 M and the BMW X4 M test driven on the circuit. The prototypes have been camouflaged to indicate their nature as pre-series vehicles, which means that nothing is final yet with regards to the development of the X3 M and the X4 M. October 2019 is an important month for Nissan. It marks the 50th anniversary of the legendary 240Z, which is the original Z model from the Japanese carmaker. As part of the celebrations, Nissan is planning to unveil a new Z car – in prototype form -- at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show, which coincides with the 50th year of the very first Z model.

This was basically confirmed by Alfonso Albaisa, Nissan’s Senior Vice President for Global Design, during an interview with Whichcar.com.au. Before this confirmation, there had been rumors that Nissan is planning a replacement for the 370Z, which has been in production since nearly 10 years ago. This decade-old two-seater rear-wheel-drive coupe is considered as one of the oldest sports car available in the market. A replacement would hardly surprise anyone, but back then, Nissan had yet to confirm anything.

During an interview with Whichcar.com.au, Albaisa remarked that is a huge pressure in creating a new Z car, adding that he is completely excited that he is in the position to work on the newest Z model. His statement essentially confirmed the rumors and the possibility of a new Z car. This also confirmed that no less than Nissan’s Senior Vice President for Global Design is involved in the project. Nonetheless, many are thrilled that the 370Z won't be continued as another version – instead a new Z car is really on the way. Expect a new Z prototype at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show.

Mercedes-AMG only came out with the E43 lineup a few years ago, and already, the said model is ready to retire the badge so they could give way for the arrival of the electrified E53 family.
