Chrysler Group is trimming the prices of the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 in China by CHY65,000 ($10,500) and the Grand Cherokee Summit by CHY45,000 ($7,300) following a report that it has become a subject of an anti-monopoly investigation by the National Development and Reform Commission.
China National Radio reported that the NDRC in Shanghai was near to closing a probe into possible monopolistic practices at Chrysler and said that Chrysler would be punished in the near future.
Chrysler will also trim prices of around 145 high-value and high volume warranty components by 20 percent. Daphne Zheng, managing director of Chrysler Group China Sales Limited, remarked that the price cuts were voluntary and the carmaker would “look for additional opportunities” to proactively improve its competitive offer in China.Read the entire article Prices of Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 and Grand Cherokee Summit cut in China
A package of Chrysler Group chief executive Sergio Marchionne’s customized 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 and Mopar’s latest HEMI V-8 crate engine will be placed under the hammer in the Barrett-Jackson auction in Palm Beach, Fla., on April 4-6, 2013. The auction of the package is in support of United Way for Southeastern Michigan (UWSEM), as proceeds will be donated to the organization.
The special contribution is concurrent with United Way’s annual community giving campaign launched in September 2012, aiming to raise $35 million in funds. Marchionne, who serves as Campaign Chair for the campaign, helped launched the annual campaign on Sept. 14, 2012, with a symbolic torch lighting ceremony on Detroit’s Hart Plaza. Michael J. Brennan, President and chief executive of United Way, thanked Marchionne and Chrysler Group for their “commitment to Detroit and its surrounding communities.”
Brennan remarked that the generous support of people who will participate in the Barrett-Jackson auction will allow United Way to accelerate the impact of its work in three interconnected areas: education, income and basic needs.Read the entire article Marchionne places personal Dodge Challenger SRT8 under auction
SRT has applied the Super Bee treatment to the 2012 Challenger SRT8, leading to the SRT8 Yellow Jacket. The new 2013 Challenger SRT8 Core has basically the same components but it will have some new features. For instance, the SRT8 Core models have all types of blacked-out trim, which include a black grille, rear spoiler, “392” logos for the front fenders, and Brembo brake calipers.
Black is usually available as an exterior paint color, but buyers can also opt for Mopar goods and get the Hemi Orange and Plum Crazy, which are unique to the Challenger Core trim. All other Challenger SRT8 colors can also be offered on SRT8 Core models with the exception of Phantom Black tri-coat pearl and Redline pearl. It is powered by the 6.4-liter Hemi V-8.
It should be coupled with either a six-speed manual transmission or an optional five-speed automatic. It’s believed that the Challenger Super Bee and the adaptive Bilstein dampers were dropped in lieu of cheaper parts. Furthermore, there won’t be leather-trimmed seating surfaces inside. Rather, front and rear seats use the same “Ballistic” cloth from the base-grade 2013 SRT Viper coupes.Read the entire article Dodge brings the 2013 Challenger SRT8 Core

The Chrysler Group’s Mopar Underground team made use of some modern history cues in building a Challenger image vehicle that’s on display now at the 2011 SEMA Show. In creating the Dodge Challenger ACR, Mopar Underground’s basis was the Challenger SRT8 392. Its influences include the victory of the Mopar Drag Pak Challenger and the record-breaking lap time of the Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR at the Nürburgring Nordschleife track in Germany set for a production car.
ACR acronym is typically used for Dodge’s and SRT’s best-handling vehicles; hence, this model is dubbed the Challenger ACR.
Challenger ACR was built as a tribute to the original option-delete cars from the 1960s and 70s. Mopar parts were installed on the Challenger ACR like a coil-over suspension, front-and rear-strut tower braces, short-throw shifter, front splitter, cat-back exhaust, custom exhaust headers and Goodyear F1 Supercar performance tires.Read the entire article 2011 SEMA Show: Dodge Challenger SRT8 ACR is one of a kind muscle car

Yes folks, a 2013 Dodge Durango SRT8 is possible! The car would carry the same 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine found also on the other SRT8 models.
Of course, Chrysler didn’t comment regarding this report, but according to InsideLine, a source close to the project confirmed that fact that the Dodge Durango SRT8 is being seriously considered.
Still, there are some bad news: Chrysler is not satisfied by the sales of the 2011 Dodge Durango R/T, a sporty version of the current Durango powered by a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 engine delivering 370 hp. Apparently, Dodge sold 30,227 Durangos since March, but only 2,418 have been R/Ts.Read the entire article Chrysler considering the 2013 Dodge Durango SRT8
